Kendra smiled a little more as he took her hand and stepped forward. She popped up onto her toes and kissed his cheek lightly before nodding her head. "Come on...." she said before leading him by the hand back through the woods to the ranch. She was happy and nervous as hell at the same time. If anything she could only think it would only be a good thing. Mira resisted the overwhelming urge to shiver at his touch but paused as the question finally came. She slipped her arm back in and opened her bedroom door. "Neither....she was my daughter." She told him, nodding her head into the room so they could actually talk. He'd opened up to her....it was her turn. |

Ren smiled as he saw her smile, not liking the fact that he had been the one to make her so upset just a couple of moments ago. A frown simply didn't belong on her face. He followed her through the woods, not able to get his mind to shut off. He was trying to figure out how this had all happened so fast already. He was on unlevel ground and for the first time in his life, he didn't know what to do next. He didn't have a plan, there were no visions of the future... looking to her aura, he couldn't help but laugh. He remembered the vision he had right before he had arrived. One that had the setting sun that blacked everything out. He believed he found his sunset. Damien paused at her, honestly not expecting that answer. It floored him. Mira had been a mother once? He looked over as she opened the door to her room, and he followed her inside. Once in, he watched silently, waiting for her to open up and tell her story at her own pace. Since he didn't see the girl here, he could only assume that she was dead or worse and that made his heart break for the woman. He could only imagine what it was like for her after watching his sister dealing with her loss. |

Kendra looked back at him over her shoulder, a curious expression on her face. "What's so funny, sunshine?" She asked, considering the laugh really hadn't been provoked by anything....or maybe it had. With everything he saw, who knew what had just happened. She sure as hell still didn't understand it.... Mira led him in, closing the door behind him before sitting down on her bed. She was one of the few in the compound to have her own space. She rustled in her nightstand for a few moments before pulling a small picture out of it and handing it to him. It was a younger, very tired but happy looking Mira holding a baby girl in her arms still in her hospital bed and gown. One thing Damien would notice was just how tiny she was. "She was born at twenty-six weeks...11 weeks early..." She told him giving a small shrug and a small smile. "I'm not going to lie, I freaked the fuck out when I found out I was pregnant at nineteen, barely a sophmore in college, on my own and thousands of miles away from my family. Her father, Kevin...never got the chance to even know. He um...had come home on leave and as usual we'd hung out a lot but we hadn't really planned what happened that night." She gave another shrug as she played with the bottom of her dress. "I wanted to wait until three months to tell him. To make sure...I got a letter from his family with a photocopy of the report they'd recieved just a few weeks before I was going to tell him. He um, died in a roadside bomb while finishing his last tour of Iraq." She paused to take a breath, shaking her head a little as she finally looked to him. One could hear in her voice it was taking everything she had not to break. "I didn't take the news well...at all...I was lucky I had Kendra for a roommate through all of it simply because I don't know where I'd be. By then I had to decide, am I going to keep this child or give it to his family to raise as his sister had offered. I had my mind set on giving her up to them...You know I thought it was total bullshit when they say you connect when the baby starts moving. Well yeah, I was wrong." She gave a small smile before giving a deep sigh. "I'm lucky in the way my powers can't be detected through blood work so I was able to go to the doctor and everything like a normal person...Well, as the universe planned it it wasn't meant to be. One night I woke Kendra up sobbing because of the pain I was in...the doctors tried everything but she was already crowning when the ambulance got me to the ER. She fought for a five days...and it killed me that nothing could be done for her...she was born with a hole in her heart and after the second surgery I just couldn't bare it anymore. It was only making her worse...I decided it was more humane to stop. Doctors gave her morphine so she wasn't in any pain and..." She finally had to stop and look down, tears rolling down her face and her throat starting to close. It was why she was able to relate so oddly well to Caelynne. She didn't go through nearly the same trauma, but she knew the pain of losing a child and a loved one. |

Ren smiled as he figured out how to explain this. "When I get visions, they're not... very helpful. It's like cramming a photo slide of a hundred pictures in the space of a minute. Well the last vision I had was right before I came here. One of the pictures I was able to make out was of a sunset that blacked everything out. I didn't really understand, but I think I do now." He told her. Damien sat down on the bed next to her as he let her open up and tell her story. He took the photo from her as he studied it with a sad expression on his face. The baby was just so tiny. And to go through with that after finding out that the father had been killed must have been rough. He looked back up at her as he heard her voice crack, his own heart breaking. Mira was one of the most amazing women he knew, he thought that it wasn't fair that she had to go through something like that. When her voice finally failed her and he saw the tears begin, he put the photo up before wrapping his arms around her in a hug. "I am so sorry." He told her. "Nobody deserves that, especially not you." He told her. ((It's so sad! ))

"Oh really....." Kendra mused with a small laugh as they came out of the woods and onto the lawn. "Care to enlighten me?" She teased him lightly, now walking by his side but she kept his hand in hers as she looked up at him. It was pitch black out, meaning they'd probably have to go through the barracks. She hated the barracks more than Mira. Mira didnt resist as he wrapped her in his arms, burying her face in his shoulder as the tears fell silently down her face; ruining her makeup and wetting his shirt. She couldn't believe she'd just told him. Jeremy had been the last person she'd told and her break down had been far worse. Finally she pulled back just a little so she could speak but his arms were still around her. "The people here did some testing on her blood and I found our she had a mutant gene. I cant help but wonder what they would've been but...at the same time. Maybe it turned out slightly better for her...I mean....I watch the kids live with this everyday and add major health problems to it?" She shook her head a little, her voice soft and slightly shaken. |

Ren smiled as he looked down at her as she walked by his side, still feeling a little odd holding her hand... yet it felt right at the same time. "Remember when I explained the colours of your aura to you?" He asked her with a another smile. "How they reminded me of a sunset?" His hand reached out to touch the swirling colours around her body that were invisible to her. Damien didn't even care that she was gettting his shirt wet and possibly staining it with her make-up. He just held her and let her cry it out, not removing his arms around her even as she pulled back. He nodded at her words, wonderingwhat her daughter would have been like. Rubbing his hand down her back soothingly, he finally spoke up in a quiet voice. "It would have been very hard for her." He agreed. "But with a mother like you, she would have been okay I think." He told her. "And at least you'll always have something to remember her by. You did get a chance to meet her and hold her, no matter how short it was." He reminded her of the good. |

Kendra blushed lightly but gave him a small smile; his vision had been about her possibly? She leaned up and kissed his cheek before plopping back down. She didn't lead him through the front door though. Instead they headed towards the garage. "Aren't you cute..." she teased him lightly, giving his hand a gentle squeeze. Mira nodded, listening to his words with a shaky nod. After a few more minutes the tears finally came to stop. She nodded again as she took a shakey breath, "I don't and I'll never regret having her. She made me realize just how fragile life is....how quickly it can dissapear. She taught me no matter how hard it was, she fought till the end...." she told him, now just resting her head against his shoulder. She wiped at her cheeks, trying to get the now running make running down her face off. She hadn't meant to make the night end on such a crappy night but.... ((Dear captain horrible.....you're horrible bc this took 10x longer than it should've )) |

Ren blushed even though it was lost to the dark, rubbing the back of his head uncomfortably. "I wouldn't go that far." He said, and even though you couldn't see it, you could hear the embarrasment in his voice. When she led them to the garage, he frowned. "Why don't we go through the front door?" He asked her. Damien nodded. He was usually never very good at this comforting stuff, but he hated seeing Mira so upset. Despite all that had happened to her, the fact that she managed to keep such a good outlook on life was astounding. It showed even more just how much of an amazing person she was. His arm wrapped around her shoulders squeezed her arm lightly as he reached over and helped her brush the tears off of her face. He didn't feel as if she had ruined the night. If anything, they were probably closer friends now. The fact that she trusted him enough to tell him meant a lot to him. "You're an amazing person, Mira." He told her as he rubbed off a smudge of make up she was trying to clean off. He offered her a small smile as he rubbed her arm more. ((But it's such a good distraction! Lol)) Edited by never_fade_away, Sep 8 2012, 05:34 PM.

Kendra laughed a bit, shaking her head at him. She looked to him as he asked his question. "House self arms at 2am...no one is allowed in through the main house, only through the barracks..." she made a face as she entered her code to get into the garage, closing the door behind them before walkong over to the well hidden panel for the doorwas to the stairs leading them down. In the lights of the garage one could see just how tight the water had made her top and how tense she'd gotten. She loathed the barracks and the jarheads within with a passion. Mira smiled a little as she felt his fingers brush her cheeks, something about the simple gesture just helped her calm down that much more. She looked up at him, her eyes rimmed with red but she gave him a small ghost of a smile. "Thanks...." she said softly, though she didn't necessarily believe it. Without a second thought she leaned up and kissed his cheek lightly. "And thanks for listening....." she added, a small blush rushing to her face. It was a friendly enough gesture....right? |

Ren nodded, finding it to be a good idea, yet a pain for them at the moment. When they entered the garage and the mighting became better, he noticed the tank top, but he quickly focused on the tension in her shoulders. "Are you okay?" He asked with a light frown, not knowing anything about the barracks or the idiots housed there. Damien just continued to smile at her. When she kissed his cheek, he blinked before blushing himself. And with his pale cheeks, the red was very noticable. "It's no problem, really." He stuttered over his words in an adorable way. "I really don't mind. You're a good friend. And after everything you've done for Cay and me, it's the least I could do." He rambled a little bit, his cheek still warm from where she had kissed it. |
