Mira gently brushed the young girl's hair back out of her face as she nodded. She kissed her forehead lightly before moving to get her some soda instead. The girl was edging on green in color...she squatted back down in front of her with a small cup of soda. "This will help your stomach settle down..." she said with a smile.

Caelynne nodded as she took the soda and took a tiny sip. She paused before taking another tiny sip and placing the drink aside as she stared at her shoes. "I'm sorry." she whispered to where you almost couldn't hear her. "I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry." she repeated herself. Damien always told her that it was never her fault. He would then apologize to her and say it was his fault. ...... He was right. It was his fault, but she would never blame him. Ever.

Mira frowned a little, brushing her thumb over the girl's cheek. "Sorry? Sweetheart you did nothing wrong. There is nothing to be sorry for..." she urged her gently, a pang going through her heart as she listened to her. "What on earth could you possibly be sorry for...?" she asked gently, once again trying to catch the girl's gaze.

"I'm sorry. Damien says it's not my fault, but it partially is. I didn't listen. I should have listened. I'm sorry." she mumbled as she continued to watch the shoes. "Maybe if I had listened, they'd still be here." she whispered more to herself that time. And that was the thing that haunted her the most out of all of this. Not the nightmares. Not what she had saw or what had happened to her. It was the what if that killed her the most.

"Hey...listen to me, pretty girl...." she urged her gently, tucking her tangled hair behind her ear. "You can't blame yourself. If you continue to live in the past you can never moved forward. Yes, a terrible horrible thing happened, but you can't change what happened. I know it hurts like hell to realize there is nothing you can do now but unfortunately that's how it goes. Never forget who you lost, but when you think of them remember happy times. There is no sense bogging yourself down with things that can't change...." Mira's voice was incredibly soft and gentle, wiping a tear from Caelynne's cheek. She smiled as Rocky wiggled his head in and rested his chin on the girl's lap with a soft wimper.

Caelynne just stared at her feet as she sort of heard what Mira was saying. When she felt Rocky's head in her lap, she looked at him with dull eyes as she scratched behind his ears. "I miss them." she whispered. "Torrin had promised me. The next week. We were going to find out what it was. He wanted a girl and I wanted a boy. It was so cliched." she talked on quietly, as if she wasn't even all the way there with Mira anymore. Her talking was smoother, not as broken up as it usually was. "Mom hadn't talked to me since she kicked me out, but I invited her anyways. She apologized. Right before the end. She told me she was sorry and that she loved me. It was the last thing she got to tell me. I never had a chance to tell her I loved her too. Or Dad. Or Torrin." she whispered as she felt tears trickle down her face, surprised she had anymore to cry out. She continued to pet Rocky's head, seeming to find it a little calming. "They told me it was my fault that they died. Damien's too. We should have listened to them. They would still be here."

((That was the most depressing thing I have ever written out in my life v.v I need ice cream and Disney movies now. The feels! ))

((Awwww...-sniffles-)

Mira listened closely to the girl's words, her own stomach dropping as she continued. "Oh Caelynne...." she said softly, taking the girl's hand and squeezing it gently. "It's not your fault, though...the people who killed them were mean, vicious and don't understand us. That is why you're here with us. You and Damien. Nothing will happen to you. You must believe that no matter what you did back then you need to understand they would've done exactly what they wanted." She urged the girl softly, reigning in the urge to hit Damien when he came in. Making a decision, she took the glass of milk from the counter and offered it to her. "That will help....." she coaxed her gently. The milk would be slightly sweeter than usual, but it would settle her stomach and calm her frayed nerves. When the girl fell asleep she'd be deep enough that no dreams would plague her. Liz had developed the concoction when they were younger with Damien. It had quelled the voices plaguing him and keeping him from sleep. It was natural, and very rarely did they use manufactured medicines on base.

Caelynne just took the glass of milk from Mira numbly, and just held it. She didn't drink any at first as she held it in her lap with both hands. "Why do they hate us so much? I don't understand. I never did anything to anybody. I never wished to hurt anybody." she asked Mira quietly looking up at the girl finally for the first time that night. Her blue eyes were dull and listless, void of any sort of feelings at all. Like she was just sort of.... dead inside.

"They are mean and horrible to us because we are different and they don't understand us. None of us here ever asked for this. We never asked to be hunted like animals. Pretty girl you have to understand that what they're doing is out of irrational fear. In some places we're cherished, others were hidden..." She gave a small shrug. "They hate us because they don't understand how we came to be. They don't understand we've always been here. They don't understand how we do what we do or know what we know. Did you ever hear about the Salem Witch Trials? Where there was such paranoia and fear they began turning neighbor on neighbor? Fear can make people do insane things...."

Caelynne just listened to Mira with a nod, not saying anything as she looked back down at her shoes and studied them. She nodded in certain places as she looked at the glass in her hand. Bringing it up to her lips, she took a couple of sips of the sweet milk before putting it back down again. "Do you think it will ever change?" she asked Mira quietly.
