Claire smiled at Damien. She wasn't like Adam...brash,abrasive and angry. Her mother had always taught her to be polite...and even though it was hard to be polite and a cut-throat at the same time...she managed it. "Does he? Well then I'll just have to ask him about you." She eyed his cigarette hungrily... she had sworn to quit for the hundredth time. "I'm not at EVERY crime scene. Just most of them,' she said lightly. "So....are you gonna help me out, Mystery Man or do I have to write this story with it having talking flowers...and...stuff in it." She gave him an odd look.

"Detective," a colleague mumbled to Adam.

Adam turned around and saw the kid there. His ways weren't conventional, but they worked. Every time. He went back to inspecting the pool of blood on the ground, along with the spatters on the wall of the adjecent building. "I don't have anything else to ask you right now, kid," he said. He'd honestly just wanted him to realize who he was fucking with. "You can go. Give Officer Walters, the woman you were speaking to, your contact information in case we need you again. Thanks."

Aeryn chuckled slightly in amusement at Kiera's words before nodding. "That's promising. You know... it's kind of nice here. I like it." she decided as she looked around. "I've always been a big fan of the sun." she shook her head, as if amused by some inside joke. "Funny coming from me, I know." she said as she looked briefly over at Damien and the reporter before back at Kiera.

"So... what say we ditch idiot and this popcicle stand. How much longer until you have to show up at work?" she asked curiously.

Ben waited for the man to turn around, and kept his face neutral. When he heard the man's words, the only sign he heard of hearing them was a small tick in his eye. "Thank you." he said as he stiffly walked away to go give the woman his contact information. That... that...

He took a deep breath as he tried to stay calm. It would be very bad if he was sent to jail for murder. Very very bad. Instead, he thought of a thousand and one gruesome deaths to put the cop through in his mind. Didn't he mention just how much he fucking hated cops?

(gah it ate my post!!!)

Damien chuckled, "Well Claire, I'd love to stay and hear more about how exactly you'd sell your editor on that pitch but I must be going." He nodded towards Claire, "Gotta make sure my little sister gets to work on time." His green eyes sparkled in the sunlight as he lifted his head for one last drag, sending the reporter a smile, but paused before he left, "Oh, by the way, even if I told you anything you wouldn't be able to use it. After all, according to Adam I'm a bad influence on others." He gave her a parting wink before strolling off to meet up with the girls.

Kiera laughed, "All I know is it's better than we've had it before. I-Damien what the hell?!" she asked as he casually ushered the pair towards the diner.

"I don't trust the reporter as far as I could throw her." he mused, flashing Aeryn a smile. "Hey there, haven't seen you in a while. How are ya?"

Claire narrowed her eyes as he walked away. Her journalist senses were tingling; something funky was up and she was definitely going to find it out. She glanced around, seeing the crowd starting to disperse. She yanked out her phone and shot a text to Adam's demanding a meeting right after. No response, of course, but that was decent enough. In the meantime, she decided she'd hang around...see what she could find out.

She tucked her pen and paper bad into her bag as she strolled down the street. She nearly ran into a young guy, but caught herself right before. "Sorry," she said, looking up. When she looked at him, her brows shot up. Cute....but he looked angry. And had he just come from the alley? "Wasn't paying attention."

Aeryn's eye twitched as Damien sort of rushed them towards the diner, but kept her comment to herself. When he mentioned reporters, she snorted. "Amen." she muttered before looking up at him and rolling her eyes.

"Still have that disgusting habit I see?" she asked, her nose wrinkling at the smell of the cigarette she could smell on him. Turning to Kiera, she smiled. "I thought you got him to quit?" she asked the tiny girl. Given she was about five foot, eight, she found most girls to be shorter than her.

Ben grumbled as somebody ran into him. Again. You know... he was really getting tired of that. Looking up, he found a rather smokin' older woman there, and bit his tongue from saying something to harsh. His mother always told him to be nice to ladies. "You gonna interrogate me too? Cuz really, I obviously have nothing else better to do than answer a billion questions about what rude people look like." he quipped dryly, but there was a fain smirk on his lips.

Claire smiled at him with a wink. "It's a lot of fun answering questions though. Come on, you know you love it... even if it is to a bunch of asshole cops, right?" If he'd met Adam which since Adam was probably the senior here, he would have, he'd be with her on that one. " 'sides, just think. You might be on the news. That would be a nice change... to see your face instead of Lucy Linkle's. Ugh. What a whore." She shook her head. "Sorry though. I like to talk. You're probably off somewhere, huh? Didn't mean to run into you, but I don't regret it too much." She stepped past him, still thinking about that strange pair....

Keira laughed a bit at Aeryn's question and shook her head. "I did, for a bit...at least it isn't cigars anymore." she wrinkled her nose at the thought. "It's actually herbal cigs but they still smell nasty..."

Damien chuckled as he transferred his score from his earlier con into his wallet and taking off his sports coat. Under, he had a simple white v-neck on but despite his leaner build one could easily see the muscles rippling down his arms and chest. "Hey hey hey I don't complain about your yoga at the crack of dawn." He mused, nudging the side of Keira's head.

He looked over to Aeryn, "Well, will you be joining me for dinner tonight at the diner then?" He asked, smiling a bit at the thought. Hey he'd rather not sit alone at the table tonight.

Ben snorted at the asshole cop comments, seeming amused. "I'd rather answeer questions from a pretty woman like you then assholes like him." He nodded his head towards Adam. "However, I'm absolutely starving. So unless you're willing to ask them over a meal babe, I'm completely useless to you." He pointed out with a flash of white teeth that stuck out against his tan skin.

Aeryn smiled in amusement at their teasing before raising an eyebrow and looking over at Damien. "What makes you think I wanna sit with your dumb ass. I'll probably need convincing." She smirked at him. She was happy here. In the home they had made in LA. Sure, these two were her only friends, but she had never been a people person. So having even two of them was enough for her.

Damien chuckled, rolling his eyes. "Dinner is on me. What more convincing do you need?" he gave her a wink as they walked along. Kiera laughed at the two, tugging at the bottom of her skirt once more. She was happy here, and having Aeryn around made her even happier. It gave her somewhat of a chance to be a normal girl, have a regular conversation about certain things without having to confide in Damien. She loved him dearly but there were certain topics off limits. She felt bad for him sometimes being stuck as her "guardian" after the raid on their town. He'd had no male friends since, not to mention no form of a love life.

The things that bugged Kiera about the setup never crossed Damien's mind. He never minded it, and lack of a relationship was the least of his concerns. Didn't mean he didn't have fun every now and again, but he was fine flying solo.

"Hmm... well I guess I can sit with you then." Aeryn teased him with a smirk as she flicked her long hair back over her shoulder. It was perfectly styled, cut with tons of layers in it, the usually straight hair flipping out at the ends due to the heat and humidity. Every now and then, you could catch a glimpse of blue or green that were dyed feathers she had had inserted.

"So, what's new with you guys? I mean it's been what... how long since I last saw you?" she asked them both as she looked between them.
