Grace Campbell strolled down the street with Jeremy, barely aware of his presence as her i-pod blared in her ears. It suited Jeremy just fine, dark sunglasses covering his azure eyes and accenting the dark hue of his fitted jacket. They were together for one reason, and one reason only; survival. They weren't like the others wandering around the Vegas strip. Not even close, and those "special" like themselves were suddenly but slowly disappearing and when they hadn't heard from the other two in their group they feared the worst.

But, of course, the Androplov twins couldn't stay out of trouble, and ended up with their asses in jail. The pair stopped in front of the building, Grace sighed inwardly as she plucked the buds from her ears and handed the electronic over to her counter-part and let her lengthy black tresses fall around her bare shoulders.

"I'll be out in a few if I don't kill them..." She told him with half a smile before heading in, heels clicking against the stone. She made her way over to the desk, fully aware of the attention she was attracting.

The young man at the desk rapidly blinked at her approach, "May I help you with something, Miss?"

Grace sighed, leaning on the desk, "Yeah, I got called down here on account of my two idiotic friends. Alexi and Kira? You guys picked them up last night?" The young man nodded and led her back to where the pair was being held. She thanked the guard, holding her hand up as Grace went to speak. "Don't."

She led the twins outside wordlessly and once they were back with Jeremy outside she turned on her heels and snapped, shoving the pair back. "How could you two be that stupid?!?! You scare me like that again and I'll be the one who makes you disappear! Got it?!" She leveled them with a glare before taking her i-pod back from Jeremy who was simply chuckling at the others.

"I can't believe you got us into this! How could you be so stupid?!" Kira Andropolov growled over at her brother as the man merely shrugged his brawny shoulders.

"I couldn't resist! Kira, the money was just BEGGING me to take it." he whined as she gave him a look that could freeze the rather warm city they were in. Ahh, Las Vegas. The city where anything happened.

"So you take it in front of an undercover cop?!" she hissed as Alexie Andropolov, twin to the most beautiful Kira, chuckled.

"Well... he was a good undercover cop! I didn't even know he was one. One the plus side..." he trailed off before digging into one of the many pockets of his cargo shorts and pulled at the big wad of money with a bright white grin.

The Andropolov twins had been scamming people for as long as they could remember. Ok, so only for about 8 years, but 8 years is a long time. After all of this time, they had gotten very good at what they did. Of course... there was minor set backs like this but hey, they were safe right?

Kira just stared at the wad, her eyes tightened in anger, before looking back up at her brother with identical grey eyes before dissolving into laughter. "HOW in the hell was that not taken from you?!" she demanded as he gave her a cocky grin.

"What happens in Vegas." he started as she finished with him.

"Stays in Vegas." they finished before bursting in peals of laughter. As they were starting to finish their laughing, they heard a noise coming towards their cell as no other than their favourite person in the world, also known as Grace, walked towards them.

Both of them opened their mouthes but Grace shut them up real quick. Quickly tucking his money back into his shorts, he let Kira out first before he followed the girls out of the Jail.

Kira was keeping quiet, knowing that they were going to get it as soon as they were out of ear shot. Wiping her hands on her still pristine white dress, she flicked her long brown locks behind her shoulder as she straightened up, walking out with pride as she heard Alexei chuckle behind her.

As soon as they were far enough away, sure enough Grace's yelling ensued, as she pushed them back.

Before Alex could say anything, Kira pointed at him. "It's his fault!!" she declared as Alexei sent her a glare.

"Thanks for throwing me under the bus! But seriously, the woman was FLAUNTING her money around. Ripe for the picking. You understand me, right Jeremy?" he looked for help with the other man, fingering the hundreds of dollars in his pocket.

"We didn't mean to scare you Grace! You still love us right?" Kira battered her eyelashes at her friend, clasping her hands in front of her.

Grace whipped her head back around and ignored them, popping her buds back into her ears. She turned Five Finger Death Punch's cover of Bad Company up to the point where those around her could hear the base. She was tired of being the look out, the one who bailed people out, the only one with a NORMAL job and a steady pay. The only one who seemed to care that those like them were disappearing daily. She let the others talk amongst themselves, not wanting to cause a scene outside on the strip.

Jeremy shook his head a Grace; he could never figure her out even after knowing her for close to three years. He looked to Alex and Kira with a sigh, “We lost contact with Kendra yesterday, and then you two geniuses. When we found out Kendra's bag and a note reading “Hunting season is far from over.” were found in an alley we knew she'd hit the same fate as the others. You should have seen Grace when we couldn't find either of you....Hence why she let you sit in jail over night. Well, two reasons actually; 1) so you could suffer just bit and, 2) because I'm pretty sure she would have done more than shove you.....” He shrugged, watching as Grace strode with heated steps back to the group's studio apartment. “You have some serious ass-kissing to do when we get home....”

He paused though, looking at Alex then, "Besides, a woman who is that eager to hand money over is never a good sign..." He added, peeking at the guy over his shades, "Thought by now you'd realize that....Oh, and be careful how you spend that wad of money in your pocket. Its most likely marked." Jeremy was no new contender to the con life. He'd been using his gift to get by as a "illusionist" quite comfortably for the last decade or so.

Kira pouted as Grace ignored her. So......... this wasn't the first time this had happened, but Grace should be proud! This was only the second time this month! It used to be a lot worst, but they were being on their best behaviour for her. Honest. Well... as best as they could get. Sometimes, there was just opportunities you just couldn't pass by.

Alexei just watched Grace with a sad sigh before brightening up as he turned back to Jeremy. He really did like his roommates that he had been set with. Normally, 'their' kind were on their own, but they had all banded together for the past couple of years since they started to be hunted down. In his opinion, they were lucky and got good people to be placed with.

"Kendra?" Alex asked with a wince. Kendra was the nicest girl anybody could have ever known. A total sweetheart.

"I promise we didn't mean to worry you, but shit for brains here doesn't pay enough attention when he should." Kira's voice added as he sent a glare in his sister's direction.

"That's enough out of you I think." he said to her before turning back to Jeremy. "Meh, we'll get out of it as always. You should know that. We'll suffocate her with our almight presence until she forgives us." he grinned before laughing.

"I thought so after I got busted, but the woman really looked surprised! So I took a quick check of the money once we were left alone and I couldn't see any of the usual marks. Of course, I'll have to get a closer inspection when we get home, but I'm pretty sure I just made a 1000." he pulled the cash out and handed it to Jeremy.

"What do you think oh mighty specialist?" he asked.

While her brother went on about his win, Kira's mind was still on Kendra's death. It was getting worst. Now they were leaving notes with the victims? The rate of the disappearances had gone up in the past year, even with their added protection. Even though he was acting fine, it was bothering Alex as well, she could tell. That was anothing reason why they had cut down on their acitivities, to stay out of the spotlight. There was no telling on what would happen next. Sighing quietly she looked down at her brown sandals, wriggling her red painted toenails, remember the nice foot massage she had gotten with the pedicure. Poor Kendra. She wished that it hadn't happened to her.

Grace led the group into their apartment complex as Jeremy flipped through the bills, “Half of them are marked....” he mused with a chuckle, showing the younger con-artist the details, “most petty cons only check the first few bills.” He added, looking up as Grace unlocked their door. “Overall, I think you're alright...but I'd give the marked bills to the hot dog guy and such, not the stores. Just to be safe.”

Grace strode through the open floor-plan, dropping her keys on her black & white comforter, i-pod following suit. She glanced towards a picture on her bedside of her and an attractive guy a couple inches taller than her. That was taken just over a year ago....and he'd been one of the first to vanish...

“Think of it as you made $650.” She said suddenly, walking into the kitchen area without looking over her shoulder. “The $350 I used to bail your asses out of jail was our food money for the week as well as our cable bill.”

Jeremy nodded with a half-sympathetic shrug; Campbell had always been the responsible one in the group. She also hadn't been “special” her whole life. From what he understood, it developed as she grew older, along with her brain. She was used to being a normal young woman....

Alexei pouted for a second before shrugging and paying attention to what Jeremy said. He wasn't jealous that the man caught more than he did. He used this as a learning experience. The more he learned, the better he became, and thus the less he would be caught. It was a win win in his books.

"Thanks man." he said as he jogged up to Grace and put on his best puppy dog smile. "I'm sorry, Grace. I really didn't mean to worry you. You can have it all as part of my apology." he told her. "Well... as soon as I pick out the marked ones." he told her as Kira followed along, and eventually fell into step with Jeremy.

"We have any plans for the night?" she asked him curiously. She was already thinking on her way to apologize to Grace. Along the way home, she had picked a couple of tourist's pockets, seeming to have much more finesse than her brother. It was all carried in the purse she had filched from a stand when the vendor was talking to customers in the opposite direction. It was like the twins just couldn't help themselves.

Grace looked over her shoulder at Alexei, “I don't know which reaction to today is stronger; wanting to hit you for your stupid moves or give you a hug because you're alright.” she said, leaning against the counter. She couldn't help but have a soft spot for the twins and Jeremy; they were her twisted version of a family. “So what do you want before I have to go over to the cafe for my late shift?” she asked, “And Kira, do you really need another stolen bag?” she called out.

Jeremy shrugged as he flopped onto the couch, “Grace has her late shift tonight and I have a show in a few hours.” he grinned, a glint in his azure eyes. “So unless you have a plan...” he tilted his head towards grace. “I don't know what more to tell you.”

"You know... I'd much prefer the hug." Alex gave her a sloppy grin as he followed them into the apartment, sitting on the arm of a giant recliner. Holding out his arms, he looked at Grace. "Come to pappa Gracie!" he proclaimed, giving her his cheesiest look.

Kira looked at her bag before looking back up at Grace with a shrug. "I need something to carry everything home in. I need it if we're going to go out to dinner tonight. So... you all need to be ready in an hour! I'm taking us to that joint down the block with the amazing burgers. Mace's!" she grinned at them.

"Suck-up." Alexei coughed as she ignored her brother. "That, my friends is my plan." she sent them all a smirk. "I expect you all to look your best!" as if using an example, she leaned down and flicked some lint off of Jeremy's jacket. "I must not be embarassed." she looked mainly to Alexei who ignored her.

“If that's how you pick up the drunk women....you have issues.” Grace said instead, before rolling her eyes. She did, however, give him a peck on his cheek before walking off to change, apparently, for dinner.

Jeremy shrugged, “If you're embarrassed by us maybe we should've left you and your prissy ass in jail.” He mused simply, standing and easily towering over her. “In fact....that could've been amusing.” He smirked, before striding off stripping off his white t-shirt on the way to his “bedroom”, revealing a very sculpted and muscled upper-body as well as a few well placed tattoos.

Grace laughed at Kira's expression, the first time she'd acknowledged the other girl. Soon enough, they could hear music blaring from the bathroom, a habit she'd formed living on her own, and hadn't quite been able to break. It was one of two ways she released tension; the other being beating on a punching bag. The group still had yet to understand her odd habits, but she really didn't care. She never liked dressing up....but she could be a total bombshell when she wanted. She didn't show yards of skin or cleavage like Kira, but she was undeniably sexy in a classy way. The last touch? A knife strapped onto the inside of her thigh and a small caliber handgun in her bag. Could never say this girl wasn't prepared.

Jeremy looked up at the sound of Evanescence radiating through the pine door, "You got her really wound up...." He mused with a chuckle.
