Lennna looked around helplessly as the doors just seemed to pile up. Way too many of them to search. She pulled at her hair with her free hand as she bit her lip. "Oh I don't know, Linnea." she sounded defeated as she looked at the five doors.

"Go with the first on the left I guess." she said, hoping she was right. For once, she wished her powers could help, but she wasn't fortunate enough to have a built in Xade GPS finder.

Linnea nodded and led them over to the first door. After prior....incidents...regarding this Castle and the doors that lay within it, she was hesitant to open it. Who knew what lay on the other side?

She reached out regardless, thinking solely of Lena and Xade, and pulled it open, eyes squinted so they were almost shut. Luckily, it wasn't a room, but a set of spiraling steps that led down into a pure black darkness. Obviously it was the door to the basement.

She glanced over to Lena. "...The basement, maybe? What do you think...?" There was a terrible smell of old age, neglect, and claustrophobia coming from air down there. Not to mention it was unnaturally dark....

Lena shivered as Linnea opened the door, having to blink to adjust to just how dark it was. She could help with the darkness. "In horror movies, aren't you supposed to avoid the basement?" she asked in a whispered voice.

Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath as a floating orb of light appeared in front of them to at least light their way so they wouldn't trip down the stairs.

Linnea tried to smile, but it was lost somewhere between her lips going up and her mind going down those spiraling wooden stairs. She blinked a little at the light that Lena created. "It'll be fine.... It's just a smelly basement," She said. "But.... for safety's sake, I think it best we just go to the end of the stairs. We don't know what is down there, and if it's as large as the foundation of this Castle, we could get lost." She reached out and propped the door open, making sure it couldn't close without a good, hard push.

Lena nodded, wanting to believe Linnea very much. Just a smelly basement, just a smelly basement, just a smelly basement... she kept telling herself over and over.

"I hope it's not that big." she murmured as she took a hesitant step forward. "Xade? Xade please come out. It's not funny anymore." she called out.

Linnea nodded as well and started to go down the rickety wooden stairs, them creaking loudly beneath her. She let go of Lena's arm, but instead took her hand, simply to make sure they were together. "Yes, Xade... if you are down here and can hear us....."

Further down on the stairwell, there was more creaking of stairs and what sounded like an echo of a giggle floating up from the bottom of the stairs.

Lena squeezed Linnea's hand as she listened for Xade's reply, slowly walking down the stairs since she didn't want to hurt her ankle again.

When she heard the giggled, she shivered as she looked over at Linnea. "Lin... Xade doesn't giggle does he?" she whispered, the whisper sounding like a shout in the quiet basement. Down at the bottom, a light flickered causing her eyes to look that way. "Xade?" she asked quietly, seeming to be drawn to the light.

The giggle had caused Linnea to shiver as well. The sound was disconcerting to say the least. "Um... not...like that." God, please let there be nothing down here. Please, please....

She kept heading down, though it took major will power not to just run back up. "Xade?" she asked, a little louder this time. "Please answer, Xade...."

There was no answer from Xade.... but there was another quiet giggle...this time it was a little easier to pick out; it sounded like that of a young child, a girl perhaps...

Lena shivered, afraid that Linnea would say that. "Xade." she called out again, somehow managing to let go of Linnea's hand as she headed downstairs at a slightly faster pace. Maybe... maybe that light belonged to Xade.

She ignored the giggling, more like not really hearing it. Or she did, but she wanted to go see Xade.

"Lena..." Linnea said, pushing away the shivers and hurrying after her. She had let go and it bothered Linnea. "Slow down, Lena...." She didn't want to say it couldn't be him... he wasn't answering. "We should go back...."

The spiraling stairs came to an end quite abruptly in front of Lena. The dark extended in every direction, seeming to never end.... it was obvious now that the basement must follow the foundation of the Castle, meaning Linnea had been right and it was enormous. Xade could be anywhere....
