LONG recap coming....

Ian stared as she pointed at her cross; OH YEAH, that whole crossing thing. He mentally sighed; he was going to get caught and THEN how fabulous would this go? He tried to remember how his friends did it...

He followed her, luckily not messing up the cross sign and then prayed his listening skills wouldn't fail him. He looked down at the table, hearing her voice. "Bless us, O Lord, and these Thy gifts, which we are about to receive from Thy bounty, through Christ our Lord. Amen...." He quirked an eyebrow, even when his eyes were still closed, waiting to hear her father start roaring about him being a bigot, or his mother pointing and calling him an atheist. Alright, so maybe that was a little....dramatic...but still.

Cassandra wanted to let out a breath as he didn’t mess up, slowly lifting her head as he mother clapped her hands together. “Oh you two did wonderful.” She mused with a nod; her father just nodded with a small smile.
Cassie looked to Ian with relief before finally beginning to eat her meal, only to pause as her father spoke up. “So Ian, where are you planning to go to college come fall?”

~~

"Your...father?" Dante looked over his shoulder at his father's study, where the doors were wide open. He could hear the two men talking and laughing; Dante had NO idea that Jeremy Giando was Chey's father. She never had really mentioned his name. He looked back to her, silver eyes concerned. "Don't worry. We'll just... walk past. Maybe they're too into their stupid little talks they won't notice." He reached up, since he was a couple stairs below her, and took her hand, kissing the back of it lightly. "Okay?"

Chey nodded with a small smile, but the smile came too quickly as they passed his father’s studies. “No, that can’t be Dante I see trying to sneak by….” She heard the thickly accented Italian voice of her father ring out as he and Dante’s father (who has yet to be named. ^_~) were walking out towards the kitchen. “Dios mio, boy you shot up. Your father here was just saying how you’re looking forward to college in the fall…” he mused, looking to Cheyenne finally and his care-free demeanor faltered a bit. No, he was seeing things...

CJ didn't look at him; her bad day had officially just gotten worse.

~~

Gabriel's gray eyes watched as she played with the ring on her finger. "So...... I'm not entirely sure what I'm supposed to say right now. This is a little awkward, if you think about it." He shrugged as he ate his dinner, watching her with a calm face. "Besides, we don't really have to get to 'know' one another. This'll all be over soon enough... then it just ends up as one of those funny stories you tell your friends when you get back home..."

Uh, ouch? Sylvia shook her head and leveled him with a calm look before shrugging, “Its only awkward if you make it that way….and frankly it wouldn’t kill you to have a friend aside from your suppliers.” She told him, before continuing to eat her own meal. Yeah, maybe for a fraction of a second she’d thought maybe some good would come out of this. Psh, yeah, who was she kidding?

Ian glanced to Cassie again. He'd only been here a few minutes, but every single second felt like an eternity. Every word that was spoken was like a dagger, just waiting to stab him. He looked over to Cassie's father and smiled a bit. "I haven't really decided yet. I've got a few options but I don't know exactly what I want to do just yet. I mean, for almost all of high school I wanted to be a lawyer, but now it just doesn't seem like it would be a good choice for me."

~

Dante glanced to Cheyenne, their hands still together. He gently slid an arm around her waist, as if to say he was sorry.

He looked at Jeremy and half smiled, "Yeah... I was pretty small last time I saw you. I am really looking forward to college...at least now that I know where I'm going." He didn't want the air to get too tense. He looked at his father, almost glaring but it was for more than one reason.

His father, Henry, just raised an eyebrow as he saw the sudden change in the man and the way Dante's girlfriend wasn't looking at him.

~~

Gabe sighed, rolling his eyes. "I do have friends other than my suppliers, dear." He was nearly finished with his food... It didn't take him long to eat. "And you can't possibly think that this isn't awkward." He shrugged a shoulder, as if it were obvious.

He leaned back in the booth, taking up his drink and looking out at the rest of the restaurant. Maybe this whole dinner concert thing wasn't such a great idea. He contemplated ways to get out of it... Maybe just tell her he didn't feel good. They really should just go annul the marriage now before it got too late....

Cassie glanced over her glass of wine at him, smiling a little. He’d told her all of this during her many visits to the hospital, but it all vanished when her father spoke up. She wanted to slam her forehead into the table… “So you have no foreseeable way to support my daughter?”

“Father…” she breathed, feeling the blood rush to her cheeks and she sighed. Gre---at.

~~

Jeremy nodded a bit, his smile coming back but it wasn’t as genuine, “I see…well, good to know you have a plan for the future, boy.” He nodded, glancing to Chey then, “And who is this lovely young woman?”

Cheyenne slowly rose her eyes to his but they were cold and harsh, “What, ten years made you forget me already?” she asked him flatly, knowing full well he knew who she was.

“Cheyenne….?” He asked, as if he was seeing a ghost. No, this wasn’t possible.

“Ding, you win a prize.”

Jeremy cleared his throat and looked to Henry, “I see you’ve met my daughter then…” he broke off as CJ scoffed loudly.

“Psh, your daughter!? Hardly.”

~~

“Who? The one who went after the pre-schooler?” Sylvia snorted with a roll of her eyes, “I was fine, hun, until you decided to make it awkward.” She told him bluntly. Well excuse her for trying to find the silver lining….When she figured he was commitment phobic she wasn’t off the mark at all.

She stood wordlessly then, and strode to the front desk, and after a quick conversation with the waitress, she paid the bill. He wanted to be an ass when she was actually trying to be civil? So be it. Let him wallow in his self pity and hypocritical commitment phobic paranoia. It seemed to be doing him WONDERS! She stood waiting for her change at the counter, her ironically graceful, back lighted silhouette turning quite a few heads.

Ian nearly dropped his fork at that question. Why was he even jumping that far ahead? "Well, sir.... It's not that I don't have a way to support her. I mean, I can't do much right now anyways. I'm still in high school and I'm just getting ready to go off to college.... most kids my age don't know what they want to do. It's college that brings them to the final decision... makes them realize what they're really good at or what they really want to do. I know what I'm good at, but I don't know right now if that's what I want to do. High school isn't the place to decide your future; college is." He let out a silent breath; he felt like he was in a damn police interrogation. He never sounded so eloquent in his LIFE.... and it was killing him. This damn tie too.

~~~
Dante frowned a little at the bitterness in Chey's voice. She must really hate him... He kept his arm around her waist, keeping her close to his side.
Henry, however, had an eyebrow raised as he looked between the two. "Well... Jeremy, I didn't know you had a daughter.... Small world that she should happen to be the girlfriend of my son."
Dante looked over at Cheyenne. This could EASILY get nasty between the four of them....
~~~

Gabriel watched her stand up, just raising an eyebrow. He wasn't done yet with his drink.... so he wasn't going anywhere. Fine. Let her be dramatic; all women were. That's why they really weren't worth the trouble. ((:O! Gabriel!!)) Not to mention every time you stuck your neck out for them, they hacked off your head....

He looked away from her, irritation in his gray eyes. He didn't care if she just....ran off. Let her. Who cares? She was an adult, even if she was acting like a child. She could take care of herself, he was SURE of that.

He took another sip of his drink, eyes just roaming carelessly over the decor of the restaurant.

Her father just nodded as Cassie felt a bit proud of Ian; at least he'd had an answer...

The rest of the night was long, tedious, much like a police investigation at times and she was all too eager to leave when they were given the okay. She did her daughterly duties and gave each of her parents a hug, quick kiss and wished them a safe flight before leading Ian out of the house a little faster than would probably be deemed necessary.

She didn't speak up until after they'd climbed into her jeep and had tossed her headband & cardigan in the back and exchanged her heels for flip flops. Finally, she looked over to him with a heavy sigh, a subtle rage hidden behind her dark eyes. "I'm s---o sorry you had to go through that, honey..." she said softly, leaning over to place a gentle kiss on his lips. She didn't care what her parents said...she could be with who she wanted dammit.

~~~
Cheyenne tried to keep her temper as the dialogue progressed, not wanting to lose it in front of Henry.
Jeremy sighed, "Its....complicated, but for all int-"
"Let me sum it up for you nice and neat. My mother had an affair and it wasn't until I was about eight and I still didn't look like his family he questioned it. Fast-forward to the divorce, the disowning of his daughter, cutting us off completely, and leaving the said eight-year-old girl with a mother on the verge of AA. This is the first time I've seen Jeremy in 10 years." she said simply, her voice flat as Jeremy rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly but his eyes portraying the rage boiling on the inside.
Ian shrugged, reaching up to loosen his tie after the interrogation. "It's fine... No worries." He gave her a little smile, looking up at the house that he deemed the bane of his existence. He'd at LEAST been able to hold his own, but there were times when he was balancing precariously on the edge. He'd almost not recovered hundreds of times.
He let out a long sigh, "Damn... I must really like you. That third degree was enough to last me the rest of my life." He looked over to her, hazel eyes looking surprisingly tired. "Maybe I should be a lawyer. I bullshitted my way through that so much.... you don't even know..."
~~~

Dante winced as Chey's voice was enough to cut through steel. His silver eyes moved over to Jeremy and they showed little sympathy. He sounded like a real asshole....

Henry's eyebrows raised even higher as he looked between Jeremy and Cheyenne. "Well.... I'm not exactly sure what I should say at this moment. Maybe it's best if we all just go our separate ways."

"Chey," Dante said softly, looking over at her. His hand on her waist coaxed her a little. This wasn't the time for a throw-down.....no matter how much it would make him feel better.

Cassandra gave him a weak smile before sighing, “I know…again I’m so sorry you had to go through that. Their opinion doesn’t matter.” She mumbled the last part with an undertone of rage. How was she supposed to tell him her parents didn’t want them together because he was white!? She shook her head and started the car, biting her lip. She couldn’t…not now. Not when she had to drive. With a quick check, she pulled out onto the road and headed downtown to the theater.

~~~
Chey looked to Dante then with a small nod before walking out with him, having the over-whelming urge to punch the wall or SOMETHING. She gave Lacy a small nod of acknowledgement as they passed her, slipping Dante’s sweatshirt over her head as they hit the crisp, cold air.
Jeremy, on the other hand, looked to Henry with an apologetic sigh. “Ironically, she’s what I wanted to talk to you about….as a friend coming to you for legal advice. See, my father left her his estate in his will when she was to turn eighteen as he outlived my mother. We’ll leave it as my family is none to pleased its going to a non-blood relative, and frankly neither am I. Besides the mortgage alone is too much for an 18 year old to handle; even with her mother living there. I was wondering if you’d be so kind as to look it over and see if there is any loop-hole out of this. And before you ask, no, she has no idea what her grandfather left her.”
~~~

Sylvia made her way back over to the table, snagging her jacket off the bench before glancing to Gabriel, her features blank. She just shook her head in a disappointed fashion, “And to think you almost found out you had a soul…” she mused before walking out, gaining male attention without trying. She slipped her jacket on as she walked down the street, ignoring the wolf whistles coming from a convertible with about 5 guys in it.

“Come on, sexy….how much for a ride?” one called out and she froze on the spot. Did he just… “Gee, that's a nice set of legs, what time do they open?” another called and she whipped her head around with an ice-cold glare as they parked and started her way on foot. She was easily taller then 3 of the guys, but 2 were unfortunately a bit taller.

“Fuck off.” She snapped, moving to continue walking when one of the taller guys blocked her way.

“Look, we gots ourselves a feisty southern belle here boys…” he grinned as the others chuckled as he leaned in, “I'll give you a nickel if you tickle my pickle.”

The sound of her hand connecting with his cheek echoed, “Move. Now.” she growled.

Ian glanced over to he and nodded, smiling as he reached for her hand, intertwining their fingers. "Yeah... I guess you're right." He looked out the windshield as they started to drive towards the theater. He was relatively quiet, flicking on the radio after a bit and letting it settle quietly in the background; just loud enough to hear, but not enough to overpower them if they decided to talk. "You excited about tonight?" he asked, just trying to keep the mood light. It was hard, even for him.

~~~
Dante ignored Lacy as she nodded back absently to him and Cheyenne. Once they were outside, he stopped, turning her towards him. "I'm sorry, Chey..." He frowned, his eyes looking irritated. Things were just continuing to stack up against them. Why couldn't things just go easily for once? "You okay...?"
Henry watched the two leave and sighed, shaking his head as he walked back into his office. "Ahhh," he said, as Jeremy explained. "Well.... considering I'm a master of loopholes, I'm sure I could find some way out of it. Do you have a copy of the documents with you...? I'll need a few days to look it over in detail and take some notes. Are you going to be in the city for a while?" He smiled a little, walking behind his desk and sitting back down.
~~~

Gabriel's lips turned down into a scowl as she grabbed her coat. "Whatever..." was all he muttered. Stupid women. They were so....

He growled quietly, turning back to his drink. He needed another. Badly. He pulled the waitress aside, who just grinned down at him. He ordered another.... only this time, he wanted less Coke and more Jack. She nodded and moments later brought him another, that little grin still on her face. She lit up when she saw that the girl he was with was gone. She lingered a little too long after delivering the drink.

Gabriel glanced up at her, his steel eyes cold over the rim of his glass. She quickly hurried away and he went back to drinking.

Stupid women.

Cassie gave his hand a gentle squeeze, glancing to him warily, "I am...something to distract me..." she said, obviously having her mind elsewhere. She was going to have to tell him but....how was she supposed to tell him it was mostly because he was white!? Between his father and her parents....they couldn't catch a break.

~~~
Cheyenne bit her lip as he turned her to face him. Honestly, she wanted to be on the train home, by herself right now, not wanting to talk about what had happened. "I'm as fine as I can be..." she said with a heavy sigh and looked to him with a shrug.
Jeremy nodded with a small smile of his own, sitting across from the other man "I'll be in town until the end of the week." he informed him as he handed him a manila envelope with a copy of the documents inside.
~~~

"Well, well....aren't we a fierce little thing..." he said, his tone mocking and demeaning.

"You think you're some kind of badass, don't you?" she scoffed and met his cold gaze head on, "Please! Darling I've met tougher guys gettin' manicures and their eyebrows waxed at the salon. Hey! Let go of me a$$hole!" she snapped as he grabbed her forearms.

"Yeah I'll bet," Ian said, with a weak smile as he looked back out the window. He let out a sigh, as they headed into downtown. He just really wasn't sure what to think right now. Basically, it bordered on the fact that parents sucked and that he shouldn't really care about what they say, right?

~~

Dante nodded, brushing her cheek lightly. "You want to just take my car...? It's not like I'll be using it the rest of the break. Grounded, remember...?" He smiled gently at her and brought his keys out of his pocket and offered them to her. "Hey... Chey, listen... I'm sorry about my dad. Really. He's just a jackass and thinks he can run my life. Don't let him get you, okay?"

~~~
After downing two more drinks, Gabe stood up and threw his leather jacket on. He couldn't stand the atmosphere anymore. He paid the girl, who proceeded to stare as he left, and exited the restaurant into the main casino.
He was tempted to just....go gamble. Who cares if he lost money? He sighed and cracked his neck, then headed for the main doors. As he reached for the front doors, he saw the glint on his left hand. He growled and threw the door open, walking out and starting to pull it off.
