Project Natal - Xbox 360 Full 3D Motion Capture; Future of gaming?

I don't own a 360 but I happened to stumble across this and it interested me. It's Project Natal, a full 3D motion capture hardware for the Xbox 360. The Wii has Motion Plus and the PS3 has the eye toy and sixaxis... apparently Microsoft is stepping it up.

This is one of the most diverse videos I found that demonstrated what Project Natal could do. It's under development and there are bound to be bugs at this time.

Wow! I've also heard about this, but I don't see how it would be so fun with 360 games. :/
Oh well, it's something. xD

Sony is also coming out with motion capture devices for the PS3. Though they're just two sticks with lights on em (no buttons dawg), so we'll see how that pans out.

Problem with Natal (and Sony's gizmo) is that there are already tons of consoles out there without the add ons, and developers aren't going to want to make games for the select market that has bought them, while hoping that hype will encourage people to buy in if they haven't already.

So if 360 and PS3 games do start using it, chances are they'll only be used as tacked on optional modes.
Shame really. They show promise.

It sounds quite interesting, but I don't think I would try it. I don't really fancy getting up and jumping around while playing games. Neither do I have the space to do it. XD

Exactly. People will get tired of moving that much pretty quickly.
Heck, even with motion controls I get tired before too long.

Yeah. I mean, watching that video, that kid is like. A 'real' skateboarder, but he rather play with his socks on in his living room? Really. That's unrealistic. I don't want to be bouncing around my room like a twit while trying to play a game.

I think it might be fun for an occasional game and in small doses. I'm intrigued by the concept, but even the Wii can be tiring when I just want to chill out and relax.

Web of Shadows. Not a relaxing game when every part of combat and swinging pretty much requires a flick of the wrist.

I don't have a doubt in my mind that extreme wii players get carpal tunnel all the time.

When I see people bouncing around with the Natal and such, and you don't see the game on the screen, All I think about is "hurrdurr hdurdurr"

Same can be said for Wii boxing, but at least we have something in our hands that points to game play things.
