Nendo comes to a stop after a long day of wandering lost in The Riddling Woods, thinking to himself, "Damn woods are cursed. Either that or they are just screwing with me. I've been walking East this whole time and yet I've passed this same tree three times...."
Sitting down softly and resting his back on the tree, Nendo pulls out the other half loaf of bread he had left over from the morning. Nendo's ears twitch at the sound of rustling bushes and leaves beside him. His muscles tense as his eye shift to the origin of the sound, stopping a small furry critter in its tracks. The two stare at each other for along frozen moment. Letting out a held breath, Nendo softens his gaze and tears off a small piece of bread for the animal. Placing the piece at a distance from him sitting, Nendo continues to eat, silently content for the moment. Leaving the puzzle of the forest to the side of his mind to attempt after some rest.

Raksha had taken to walking amid the Riddling Wood for the past several months, ever since losing Nexus, her human companion. There were deep secrets in the gnarled trunks, the glowing ruins. The secrets and the deep, calm sense of mourning called to her inward self and distracted cognitive thought so that she could continue to function. Honestly, she couldn't say that she recalled many events over the last few seasons, either because they held no significance or she simply glided through life as if a visitor in a strange land though it was her home..

It was a wonder that she noticed the other presence in the wood, she was inwardly surprised at herself. There was a scent, one that was not native to this place. 'What sort of odd fool thought it wise to wander in this ancient place,' she mused, altering her direction to take her to the foreign presence.

Looking down at the weasel like critter that had taken its seat (and share) beside him, Nendo slowly clears his head. Thinking about the forest,as he lifts his head to the sky. Closing his eyes and taking in a deep breath, Nendo tries to catch the scent of something sticking out in the wood. Nendo stops his surveying figuring that he must be upwind of anything peculiar. Shifting his head over to the small animal, "You wouldn't know how to find something in this forest, would you?" Nendo asks in a laughing manner.

Laughing at himself for a long moment, Nendo rests more back on the tree, he reaches down and absent mindlessly pets the critter. "Seems like animals are the only company I can dig up these days..."
The hair on the back of his neck standing on end as an almost invisible presence gets closer than he was comfortable without seeing. Nendo begins to scan the immediate area with as much perception that his senses could muster up. Reading himself for anything as he tenses with frustration for not being able to find the origin of this feeling.

Taking to the branches of a particularly old tree, Raksha nestled in the crook of one of its ancient boughs as silently as the feline hunter in her had become accustomed. Inhaling the now very potent scent of the stranger, she sensed anxiety and sweat accompanied by the scent of human food and a small woodland creature common to the areas. Having caught the tail end of this person's phrase and somewhat curious as to why he was speaking aloud to himself, the Druid thought back a few weeks. In the past several weeks, she had been predominantly alone either because she was hunting or because her tribesmen had the habit of leaving her to her own devices. In all that time, she'd not uttered a word. Not even absentmindedly to herself as this male had.

"You're right. Animals are all you'll find here. If you seek another manner of company, this is not a friendly place to wander." The words had left her mouth before she was conscious of speaking them. What harm could it do, this seemingly chance conversation to loose her tongue?

Slowly tilting his head back in a false laziness, refraining from sudden movements able to scare off his little friend, Nendo locks his eyes on the being perched above him. Nendo ignores instincts screaming at him, telling him to move, instead to keep his ground against the person that had infiltrated past his senses. "The friendly tend to avoid me." Nendo states jokingly, "So all in all this forest feels as friendly as it gets to me."

Dropping his head back down, deciding that if he was going to be attacked by this being it would have been so already. Continuing his joking nature, "I didn't expect this bread to smell this good after a day of traveling, attracting animal and beast alike." Nendo says while looking back up with a grin on his face.

"Except you're lost. 'Friendly as it gets' will get you lost out here for upwards of weeks." Stretching out on the branch in as feline a nature as she could in her natural form, eliminating this visitor from her view and leaving only scent left to track him. At this close range, she would know by sound and scent if he moved.

"It wasn't the scent of food. It's the scent of 'foreign'. You being here is more than enough of a marker to attract attention from animals and... beasts." Raksha crossed her wrists beneath her chin as she often did in her beast form. It piqued her nerves to be called a beast, but drove her interest in keeping up the conversation.

Dropping his head and letting out a calmed laugh, "The fact that my scent led you to me says you know this forest alot better and most of the animals that live here."
Nendo rests back on the tree tearing off another portion of his bread for himself, "I've passed by this tree three times without realizing that it was the same tree. Its almost like this place covers tracks. It would be damn useful if I was running from someone."

Deciding not to look up as he spoke to avoid eye contact with whoever found him, "You wouldn't happen to know the secret of these woods now would you?"

Lazily pondering the question, Raksha laughed to herself. If ever there were a person to ask that question, it had to be her. In her own manner, she contemplated not answering. She would be well within her rights to refuse to speak any further and disappearing into the depths of the forest. Her kind were good at that. The forest was more likely to keep her shrouded from this stranger than to allow him to pursue. "My kind know this place, we are a part of it as the forests are part of us. This forest is accustomed to misleading visitors, as there are many secrets. As to whether or not I have the knowledge which you seek, it all depends on what secret you are chasing."

After a moment of consideration, she added in a languid manner, "There also lies the issue of your intentions. This place is a living part of my culture. How can I be sure you will not abuse our secrets?"

Looking around idly as he ponders how to state his response, Nendo takes a slow breath. "Well it is definitely a well kept secret. I'm only curious as to how many actually look for it. Though the means to abuse it are obviously sought after, I doubt any of them share my purpose...... What I'm looking for is a cure. A cure for a curse"

Standing up from against the tree, Nendo begins to walk away into the forest. Stopping as he felt that he could see his mysterious voice and tilting his head as if waiting for a response.

After a moment or two of trying to recall, Raksha rolled from her perch. Landing fluidly on her feet and dropping to one knee in one motion as if her feet had never touched the ground, she looked directly at the foreigner. "In this forest, there are herbs which can cure nearly any ailment. Fever, easy; infections, there are twenty different remedies..."

Standing tall, Raksha gave her first full-hearted answer in months. "Curses are another matter entirely. They are not always necessarily curable as they are not afflictions of the body per se. They can effect the body yes, but the root does not lie only in the physical realm. I do not know if there is a secret in these woods that can help release someone of curses. I've spent my whole life skirting these ancient grounds and I know some of her secrets, but this... I'm not certain."

In the back of her mind, Raksha wondered what kind of curse this stranger could be mixed up in. He looked normal enough to her, though he smelled odd. But then, some of the worst curses were those of the subtle variety.
