Nexus ignored Raksha's claim and continued his onslaught, but he ended it with Shadryn's question. He leaped back to answer him and reveal whats really on his mind, or at least what he expects from this fight. "Ha..haha..hahahaha... I already know... I will die." The tight grip on both blades loosened sligthly as he continued to speak. "I knew you weren't human once you leaped into the air. Only supernatural acrobatics could accomplish that. Also, with that shining blade, you can't get that at any old market.. I don't know who you are, but I know what you are." "You are my inevitable end.. Even if I were to escape, I know you would pursue. I don't mind dying now, but I'd rather die fighting then die like a swine.. Who knows, miracles do exist in Enthesia. That, there is no doubt. I will fight knowing that this will be my last fight in Stronferth, guaranteed. However, I'm not sure if it will be my last universally. Like I said, miracles exist. I believe it." "But alas, lets resume..." Nexus swiftly dashed around his target as if he were multiples of him that were see through. To the untrained eye, it would seem that Nexus was nothing but a blur. However, to trained or magical perception, he is still trackable. But nobody said that tracking someone as fast as a train would be easy. [[Speed Effect: 2]] |

Fury swept over Raksha, provoked by Nexus' blindness and stupidity. After all that she had done to ensure his survival, sparing him herself and then protecting him from his own kind how was he so willing to throw it all away? Biting back her rage and sheathing her dagger, the Druid shifted partly, to her Demi form. Advantages of both forms in one body. Rushing forward while her eyes could somewhat predict his movements, she reached for Nexus. Intending to pull him back and out of his furious onslaught, she extended claws as a safety precaution as it was clear he was not being the least bit careful. "Nexus, he is not attacking. At least stop and THINK for once in your pitiable existence." Her outstretched hand missed grabbing Nexus several times. Hoping beyond hope that her words could penetrate his thick skull and muddled brain, she stopped trying. It seemed that the stubborn nature of humanity had indeed found its roots within Nexus, and she would only reach him if he could stop and allow her to. Livid that the human would not even pause for a moment and see that if he was wanted dead he would be, that there had been more than enough opportunities that the Angeli had not taken to kill him. How could he not see how strange that was, could not see that it pointed to the Angeli wanting something other than his life. |

Despite the druid’s furious attempts to stop him, the boy Nexus continued his furious assault unperturbed. He seemed at least partly aware of the danger he was in, but that seemed as inconsequential to him as the pleas of his love. After belting out his impassioned monologue like an overeager actor in a tragic stage play, he began a dash around Shadryn that the Angelus was quite familiar with indeed--he himself had performed it on a great number of occasions. It was something of a dance, a movement of rapidly changing speeds and changes in direction that was designed to disorient and disillusion a foe. Shadryn saw multiples of Nexus, in all directions. The Nephillim ceased his retreat and stood calmly in the center of the rough circle outlined by the boy’s movements, Soltia at his side in his right hand in the same position it had remained since Shadryn’s one and only attack. Where another might be frantic and desperately try to track Nexus, Shadryn made no effort of the sort. Indeed, he seemed to be hardly paying attention at all. His head did not swivel, remaining relatively motionless with his eyes casually bobbing back and forth, watching the multiple Nexuses that seemed to be assailing him. The boy’s speed was indeed admirable. Shadryn often fought in such a manner and he’d judge that even with his inhuman bodily attributes, he was not a tremendous amount faster even at full tilt. His movements spoke of one who had learned the majority of his swordplay on the fly, perhaps as a sword-for-hire or mercenary. His movements were imprecise and borne more from rage than skill, but nevertheless the Nephillim was rather impressed with the talent and lethality of the young man. With a bit of proper instruction, he could be quite skilled indeed. But right now, he required not knowledge but wisdom. ”I wonder if you fought so fiercely when you mercilessly slew those men, who were trying to provide for their families in spite of the danger in the forest.” Shadryn’s voice remained in that same melodious, tranquil tone. He could be resting on a riverbank serenaded by chirping birds judging from how relaxed and collected he seemed. He continued to stand loosely in the rough middle of Nexus’ furious dashing, but still appeared entirely unperturbed by it. ”If your wife and kids, the reason for your existence, needed food, I imagine you too would venture into the forest in spite of any danger that might exist there. Love disregards all possible deterrents.” |

Nexus froze. The swirling wind caught up with him and blew him forward a bit, but his face was blank. He then started walking with the effects of Speed still in tact.. He couldn't slow down. He had to keep his guard up, but he walked with a swift stride around the being. "Unforgivable... I know.. I regret it..." He then stopped and looked at Shadryn. Why hasn't he attacked yet? Whats keeping him? "If you plan to talk me down to defeat... Your doing a good job.. but in terms of realization, I already know what I've done.. and I cannot afford to pay back the debt." He begins slowly striding around again. "But it has to make you wonder.. what now?" To be honest. He was afraid of Shadryn. Why not though? He's otherworldly. Its scary for any mortal. "I am a monster. Yet you do not slay me.. Why? Make it quick.. I can't live like this anymore.." Nexus slid his foot back into a stance, keeping his eye on Shadryn's movements, readying for when he charged with either a dodge or a counterattack. [Speed Effect 1] |

As a last effort to keep Nexus from doing anything that would result in his death, Raksha all but tackled him as he waited for the Angeli's action. Placing her body between the men, she faced Nexus with her knees bent and hands in preparation for him to attempt circumvent her to get to the Angeli. His words had hurt her more than he could realize, that he could not live that way any longer. That pain added to her fire and fury to keep between the two before Nexus did something stupid that would provoke a true attack. Any attack from one such as the foe he faced she could not possibly hope to stop. Softening her voice to hide her fury and pain, she spoke, "Nexus, you are not a monster and you do not have to stay here. You don't have to live this kind of life if it inspires such darkness in you. I regret revealing my rage at your race, for getting involved in your life." She was prepared to walk away for Nexus's own sake if it would save him, for this whole mess was her fault. It would pain her beyond any physical injury to do so, but she could not simply watch him endanger himself so recklessly. Edited by Raksha, Jul 26 2011, 05:16 PM.

"Defeat?" The skin crinkled about his eyes as they narrowed against Nexus' waning gaze. Otherwise, the Angelus remained motionless. He continued to forestall any sort of offensive strike for reasons unknown. "You speak of this almost as if it is a game we are playing, and that you are ready to concede victory to me. This is no game, Nexus. This is your life you are "playing" with, and the lives of those men you brutally slew in the hope of protecting your beloved. And now, you practically beg me to bring you what relief you might find in death?" For the first time, Shadryn's expression showed something other than the halcyon tranquility which was the hallmark of the Nephillim's social articulation. His lip curled up ever-so-slightly and his eyes narrowed into a hard glare, as if a particularly repulsive smell had reached his nostrils. Soltia gave an odd pulse in the midst of its constant daytime glow, as if responding to a spike in the Angelus' emotional state. His voice was certainly harder and more emphatic around the edges to reflect such a state as well. "No doubt you think you are being brave, sacrificing yourself for the greater good of the world. You think that because you have done something foolish, redemption is impossible and thus your life is worth nothing? Coward." The Angelus reached up with one gauntleted hand and pulled his scarf's wrappings away from his throat a bit, revealing his chin and laryngeal prominence beneath. His eyes flashed dangerously in the morning sunlight, appearing to shine with a golden, righteous fury. "What is it about the youthful that they think dying is so courageous and honorable? That is the quick and easy path, and it is as unfulfilling as it is simple. If you really feel remorse for what you have done and yet wish to protect your feline bonnie lass here, have the courage to live and redeem yourself through future actions. Rather than giving in to sadness and despair, cast them aside and face life anew. Then, perhaps, you won't have to die a 'monster'." With that, Shadryn twirled Soltia once in his hand before smoothly sliding the blade back into its scabbard. The blade shone like a burning vortex before vanishing into its crystalline housing, though the pommel continued to pulse even with the blade so concealed. The Nephillim then folded his arms over his slender but well-muscled chest. His expression had softened somewhat, but the lines around his eyes were still hard and his posture was yet stern. He continued to not indicate any sort of concern at all with any attack Nexus might levy against him. If the boy hadn't yet figured it out, he was utterly outmatched. There was little hope he could so much as give the Angelus a paper cut, let alone defeat him in mortal combat. Fortunately, Shadryn just wasn't consistently in a "mortal combat" mood as he once had been. |

Nexus slowly tips his head slightly. "That's it?" He lowered his weapons and didn't expect there NOT to be a fight. He didn't quite know what to do at this point. It's strange. He felt as if his purpose had been written before him, tore up, and his life has been spared. He had been given the chance to turn his life around. He didn't have to be a monster. He didn't have to be a forsaken piece of trash. Nexus was starting to realize "You've got one more chance to do right, and its now." as it echoed throughout his head. He put his weapons today and felt wobbly. He stumbled as he turned around and dashed into the woods. Past Raksha. He didn't want her to see him as he was. He just wanted her to see him better. He wanted to return so that she will see his changes and be pleased. As Nexus zipped pass Raksha, he stopped and looked back for a split second, took a step towards her, and struggled as to what to do. At this point, he was about 60 feet away from her. |

There was little else to be expected of the Angeli. In his mercy - though he was not required to grant mercy - he imparted a wisdom that Raksha prayed Nexus would understand and cling to. It pained her deeply that he asked for and was willing to accept death; to leave her in such a way. It was apparent that Nexus did not or could not think of the consequences, that he was reckless to a fault. Following blindly a need to protect her had cost Nexus more than he presently realized. Forcing her will to steel, she turned to the Angeli. "Thank you for sparing his life. It means quite a lot to me, not that it has anything to do with your decision or the circumstances. I will poison him no more." Unable to face Nexus, Raksha decided that it would be best for them both if she left, allowing Nexus to live his life as he wished. Her wrath and pain would no longer poison his reason, his allure would no longer cloud her judgement. A clean break would leave them both safer - if not happier - in the future. Shifting deliberately, Raksha fled. It was not intended to be a break-neck sprint, only meant to put distance between Nexus and herself. Doubting that she would remain resolute in her decision if he chose to follow her, she hoped that he would take the Angeli's advice and start anew. |
