It was a day marred by a cloud of foreboding. The week before had begun like any other for the young ruler-to-be - A week of radical politics and general disappointment as the moderate government would rule against his proposed policies. It was then that a globally unfortunate declaration of war smiled upon the young man and allowed him to seize power with the support of a fearful people. He sighed heavily, aware of his own heartbeat as the moment of coronation approached. He had little patience for this sort of revelry and would have preferred to begin his fortification of the government and people of Stronferth. "Your highness..." "Speak." "It's time." So it was... The young monarch flinched as the curtains were suddenly drawn and his frame illuminated with a divine light, blinding him. Cheers erupted as he stepped forward to address his people before rapidly dying down as he lifted a single gloved hand. "My people. Today, we observe not a victory for my person, but a victory for freedom. Symbolizing an end, as well as a beginning and signifying renewal as well as change." He cleared his throat as he prepared to address the very reason for his coronation. "Before us stands an enemy unlike any other. A vampiress renowned for her longevity and relentless will. A vampiress who but a few days ago, declared war upon all that is good and signifies freedom." He paused for effect before continuing. "We must begin anew the quest for peace before the dark powers of destruction unleashed by Indira engulf all that we cherish and I hope that a beachhead of cooperation with all those threatened may push back the blackened forces of Indira " He frowned. "I call upon every living soul that calls me their king to bear the burden of a long twilight struggle with me - To break the bonds of misery that will bind us all with her success. We will remain masters of our own house, and our own destiny." He smiled as he waited for the response of the crowd. He was pleased - It had gone better than he thought it would. Soon Stronfeth would be ready to face whatever the mad queen could throw at them. Or so he thought. Edited by Alexander Ankyovich, Jan 25 2011, 04:24 PM.
