Loneliness never fades away...

Selena... was scared.

Never had she laid foot in such a place before, where the ground was hard, uneven and unforgiving, adorned with pebbles, and it was the large structures that towered the skies and not a tree in sight. The Lycan though the rumours were over the top exaggerations when they called Stronferth the City of Stone, but she could not help but feel that all of this was unnatural. Her nerves were starting to get to her, nothing was familiar in this town, not the scent, sounds or faces, and without her bows and arrows she felt exposed, but at least she had her dagger which was hidden under the folds of her loose tunic.

Though she was thankful for the momentary presence of others, they weren't Lycans, they weren't her Pack, but for now they would suffice, the villages looked upon her warily as they have never seen her face around, and though the guards would give her suspicious glance, seeing her scrawny figure draped with the worn tunic they would shrug her off as another unfortunate of this godforsaken district.

A blessing here, a blessing there, here to spread madness everywhere. Anubis strolled merrily along, spinning his cane in his left hand. He was dressed well, as always, in his purple suit with golden vest and under shirt, matching top hat and golden shoes. As he walked along, he would cast a random non-harmful spell here and there, just to liven things up. He noticed many things, along with a very distraught looking figure dressed in what seemed a raged traveling cloak. It was apparent by the stares of others that this being was either not welcome, or new or both. Or perhaps this person was enchanted to draw peoples eyes. Who knew?

He continued on past, for quite some time, until he reached the other side of the area he was in. After not seeing anything worth while, he let the magic go and slipped back through time where he currently was. Back into his actual time and his real body, he started off at a pleasant stroll in the direction he had gone in when he had made his move into the future, smiling broadly and beaming from the eyes. His large, yellow tinted glasses shone brightly in the sunlight.

Here, he had to make a decision though. He knew what was at the end of this walk. But he didn't know the nature of this obscure and hidden being. Perhaps and investigation was in order. He quickly turned suit, pivoting on one foot and his cane in a light manner and continued on after the cloaked figure, speculating about whom or what it may or may not be.

Selena would pace herself, though every fibre of her being wished to break off into a run, to feel the wind run off her skin and weave tangles through her hair, running seemed to be something deemed suspicious to humans and the last thing this Lycan wanted was to be accused of committing a crime she did not commit. It would take a while for her to realise a presence was following her and would give a quick glance to whom it may be.

The person was... eccentric.

Never had the Lycan come across a man with such tastes. She had seen such colours on the robes of the Vampires with higher status, but never in such a flamboyant fashion, she was quite sure none of them would want to be caught dead with an attire like that. The thought almost made her snigger. She would keep walked at a normal pace, hoping the stange man will ignore her and skip past her.

So this person wouldn't stop and Anubis was in no hurry to play catch up and introduce. But a spell named Tether, which he had only referred to as telepathy, was about to come in great use.

(((OOC: for future reference on spells, just check the inventory. Tether should be under physical magic)))

He prodded very gently, just getting a feel. Definitely humanoid in nature. But not exactly a text book human. The mind itself was wary of its surroundings, as well of his existence. He would start simple.

"Hello. I'm the man in the purple suit." He had often tried talking to people through this method, mainly because it didn't require close proximity and the possible spread of germs or whatnot. Some people reacted calmly. Some did not. When he had it first used on him, he remembered being freaked out.

He simply kept up his slight skip and followed on, waiting for either a thought or a word to answer him.

Selena would jump as she felt a gentle prod to her mind. The Pack being able to communicate through mentally-sent messages, prods like these was familiar to her, but the prod was of no Pack or other Lycans who were possibly lurking around hidden from the humans, so her conclusions would be it was the strange man who was following her. She would halt in a sudden stop as she heard his voice in her head. She would stay where she stopped, waiting for the strange man. She could not comprehend why he would have any interest in her.

When he was close enough she would turn to face him, her eyes narrowed into a glare. "What do you want?"

She stopped and he caught up at his own casual gait. 'Perhaps she means an introduction.' She turned abruptly as he neared and glared at him through narrowed eyes.

"What do you want?"

The words sort of hurt him. What did it matter? Could she not be happy for a human acquaintance of some sort. He was no racist, in any sense of the word.

"What do I want? I was just prodding along and something interested showed up in the stark face of concrete and the jungle of human fear and hate. You are obviously different Lycanthrope." He mulled over something briefly in his head and stroked his beard-less chin in thought.

She had posed a very prevalent and good question. What did he want? He already knew that going on that one path would take him no where but his little fantasy land. The stranger was the x-factor and who didn't like an x-factor. Every function needed a rate of change, or didn't. But in his case, it did.

"I guess you could say that I took a second taking to you, because I'm quite bored with the political correctness of the human race. Come," He said, walking up next to her,"Walk with me."

The human, there was something about him that nerved the Lycan. He wasn't an ordinary human, she could tell that much, he was able to tell what was her race, as he spoke of it she would take a quick scan around to see if anyone else had heard what he said. It didn't look by it but them just standing there raised a few suspicious glances from the guards nearby. Selena wouldn't let a single word escape her lips, as they would be words to repel him, but such actions from an outsider would have the guards intervening, which she was hoping to avoid.

To raise no further suspicion from those around her she would walk with him in a casual pace, but not utter a whisper.

"Good. I am glad that you choose to accompany me. I have a few questions, if you don't mind, more about the nature of your being rather than the nature of what you are being." He set off at a casual pace, either twirling his cane in his left hand or actually using it leisurely to walk.

"So, now that we find ourselves out of the hearing range of the guards, I have a few inquiries as to the way your society works Lycanthrope. But first, a few things that must be shoved off the table. My name is Anubis, and my last name isn't quite that important or I can't remember it, whichever one it happens to be."

He paused briefly, taking in his, their, surroundings. While he was perfectly aware of where they were, something seemed too familiar about this place. He shrugged off the feeling and continued.

"I would also now take the time to inquire as to your name, what you like to do when it rains and what your three favorite foods are and what drink you would like with each of them." He thought about it briefly and changed his mind.

"Scratch that last question. Rather than your three favorite foods, what are three things that you absolutely loathe?" He was finally satisfied with his questioning and watched the birds flit about as they walked. It was quite the gorgeous day.

Selena would discreetly glance back time to time to see whether the guards at deemed her suspicious once more, which she would gladly do without, but she could also do without with her eccentric 'companion,' Anubis his name. The Lycan wanted to do nothing more than ignore him until she wished to return back to the forests she had grown used to, but knowing his types, he probably would pester her until she spoke, saving herself the annoyance she would answer his equally eccentric questions.

"My name is Selena, I dance in the rain, and for what I loathe... I rather not speak aloud of such in a public area" There were three things that she loathed with great passion, but she's rather chew off her hands than reveal what they were. Especially since her most hated thing was the reason she became banished to begin with.

He listened intently but was rather disappointed at her last answer.

"Well then, we'll just have to find someone where private later on. Come, I'm famished and I'm rich. I'll take you out to eat whatever meal-time is normally celebrated at this time. I probably should have asked you your favorite food. Do you mind meal conversation? I find it quite enthralling. Left!" He peeled off from the street they were walking on, walking down a very well lit, naturally of course, alleyway.

"So, its a fairly short walk. Please, tell me, what brings you to the beat-less concrete jungle? Often creatures of the wild do not dare step in here for fear of loosing their rhythm." He had rested his cane upon his left shoulder as he asked his last question, tipping his hat a bit. He straightened it out and sighed.

Gorgeous day.

Rich he said. He certaintly looked like it, flaunting around in brightly coloured clothes she had only seen adorned upon Vampires, who were the 'rich' ones. But in a place where crime was its lifestyle the Lycan could not help but be curious if he had any worry of being stolen from, from the way he walked and talked she guessed not, which would mean either he was confident, sure of his abilities or very delusional. Regardless of that she would follow him, though he probably would pry she would remain silent to things she didn't want anyone to hear, even if he managed to find a soundproof place.

"One needs a hange of scenery once in a while"
she half-lied in answer.

She remained dully silent, still tense as if she were scared of someone over hearing them. Her answer, when she answered, was displeasing and unsatisfactory.

"Change of scenery, huh? What scenery do you find here? Other than the occasional garden well tended by a wild loving human, this place is a desolate obelisk of stone and lifelessness. Sure, there are quite a few interesting characters here and a community brought together by hardship, but as far as scenery goes, it's a very... ugly place."

They passed out of the alley and into a well lit and broad square, with a neglected fountain as the center piece. It was covered in algae and dirt, the water stagnated and murky. A few adolescent children sat around, talking in excited voices, enjoying the cool weather and the sun. Nothing really caught the eye. A few doors, broken and battered crates and barrels and raged doors. But one thing stood out.

It seemed odd and out of place. It was a white door, well made, in great shape and free of rust. The peep hole wasn't covered by a tiny latched metal door, but rather just a simple piece of glass.

"I'll fairly warn you now. A woman named Matilde owns the place. She's a great cook and an excellent hostess, but she's crazier than a sack full of bats. Just remain calm and if she asks and questions, for the love of God, answer them. They won't be personal, but she doesn't mess around with half answers."

He took long strides to the door and knocked fourteen times in a calypso beat pattern, leaving the last set of eight notes with out an end. A face appeared in the glass, ghostly white and pretty, kind of like a porcelain doll. He merely tipped his hat and walked in as the door swung open.

He took off his hat and held it over his heart proclaiming, "Matilde dear! I've brought company! And the money required to entertain." The porcelain skinned girl disappeared through a door to the back rooms, where the cooking and cleaning took place. Matilde was far from gorgeous.

A woman in her fifties, she was fit and slim, but her face was worn and rough. Wrinkled too. She had white, curly hair that poofed out into quite an impressive Afro. "Where were you?"

"Out walking. Meet Selena, misplaced and quite possibly lost, Lycanthrope." He gestured to the girl behind him, hoping that Matilde wouldn't ask her much. He returned his hat to his head and cocked a smile.

"It's a change." It was, it was a desolate place built of lifeless stone. Not a place she would go to if she needed a change of scenery, but the only difference between this place that reeked with unnaturalness everywhere she turned and the forests which she adored was the company that existed in both. Due to her autophobia, she was eventually driven herself out of the Wild Lands for just a short time with company, even though the only one who would approach her was a strange one. Selena would keep close to him, as this was unfamiliar territory she was treading through, she'd be screwed if she got lost. Eventually they stopped at what she guessed was their destination.

The Lycan would suppress a groan as Anubis would explain the owner was the one to pry deeply. She would find herself hiding behind the man as a face peered from the door.

Matilde walked forward, old as she may be, with a very lively step and an air of danger and insanity about her. She stopped just in front of Anubis and looked over his shoulder, peering at the girl behind him.

"Quite harmless, I might say." She frowned a little and then smiled broad. "I have one question for you, little girl. What!" She placed emphasis on the word, "Is your favorite beverage?"

Anubis could only snicker. He walked on past Matilde. She was a woman of her word, only one question. He walked over to his favorite table, out in the middle of them all, with the smallest and brightest candle. He sat facing the doorway and the porcelain faced girl arrived almost immediately and asked him what he would like to drink.

"Water, with a slice of lemon, dear girl. Thank you." She walked away and disappeared back into the kitchen area.

The air the woman held was the kind that made Selena wary, it gave her an aura filled with danger, but yet it wasn't evident in her step. It was said that it was the insane that were the most dangerous, as unlike a crafty villan their actions on most cases were completely unpredictable. Though it would also mean the person she was hiding behind was a man of danger.

"Fruit juice" she would answer, keeping it short, thankful that it wasn't the kind to pry. She would sit opposite to Anubis on the table, hoping the rest of the day would be uneventful.
