Zahrina was getting ready for the day. Today was important, grand opening of Zahrina and Flaccil's new Meat-Pie Shoppe. To prepare, yesterday Zahrina had made a fresh kill just especially for the day, but she was afraid it may not be enough, knowing Flaccil's superb cooking skills. Still worrying, Zahrina was getting dressed, a simple, dark green corset-top with flowing trumpet-sleeves. She had also invested in a work hat, an adorable lacy little thing with a bit of netting veiling part of her face. She thought it was cute and was going to wear it for 'work' (by work she meant the selling of human meat to other humans as the cover work for her true profession of assassination.). Zahrina and Flaccil now lived behind their new shop that they had purchased only a week or so ago in preparation for their partnered business. She moved out of her room, now ready to begin the day. "Flaccil, are you ready?" Zahrina called out, not knowing if she was still getting ready or if she was already in the kitchen cooking for morning rush customers. She had a giddy feeling that this was going to be a great day. Maybe Zahrina would even get an actual assignment so there would be meat for the following day. Giddy and excited, she awaited Flaccil's replyso she knew where she would need to go and what to do. ![]() [[[Hat!!!!!]]] |

"Ready assss ever." Flaccil yanked out a fresh batch of mini meat pies from the oven - mmm, did she love the smell of manflesh in the mornings. It woke up the senses! She'd been working on them since before the sun was up - from her little advertising campaign she'd done a few days prior, quite a wave of anticipation had been built up all throughout the North District of Stronferth. She already had some meat pies that were cool, and grabbed that trey, slithering to the front of the Meat-Pie Shoppe where Zahrina was waiting to open the doors. The outfit she was wearing looked... slightly over the top, but Flaccil herself wouldn't have had it any other way - see, in that outfit, there wasn't much to be intimidated by... and already, humans were wary of Naga as a race. No need to make them feel uncomfortable (especially the men...). Flaccil grinned, her tail twisting up excitedly like a child's. Hopefully they'd get called to do a kill... the meat they'd gotten off the chubby no-name human wasn't as much as Flaccil would've liked to have (besides... they'd had to eat last night, which had depleted from this stock of manflesh!). Maybe the kill would be an exotic one! A noble or a wealthy merchant with enemies... yes, that'd be a fun one to take down. Since rooting through Zahrina's tips on stealth left in her head from when they'd met in Languidia, Flaccil had learned some new tricks that might prove useful.. not to mention that she wanted to see her assassin of a friend take some gluttonous noble down. Wouldn't that be a hoot if she wore her work clothes? Flaccil could picture it.. chuckling a bit was impossible to not do... "Looksss like we have a little line outssside... I hope they enjoy the tassste, don't you?" Flaccil wanted to burst into laughter - humans... eating humans! Cannibalism! How insane they'd line up to buy back their corpses! A manical laughter threatened to consume Flaccil but she held back. No need to frighten the customers! Oh, the splendid customers! |

Zahrina heard Flaccil already in the shop, she had gotten the jump on Zahrina and already made an entire batch of the Breakfast Mini's. Impressed, and intoxicated by the scent (which she secretly inhaled deeply at every opportunity). Zahrina had already had a feeling of excitement, she wouldn't have it any other day, there wasn't a single worry in her new world. No one would find evidence of her kills because they would be consumed by humans, then at night, Zahrina would find a way to get rid of the bones themselves, which isn't very hard to do. She felt ready, well-rested and happy. Flaccil was apparently imagining something rather funny, she would have to remember to ask her about that later, the chuckling made her rather curious. But it would have to wait, Grand Opening was going to be a very busy day, thanks to Flaccil of course. Her wondrous recipes, her genius advertisement. Zahrina only worked as hunter and hostess, she would tend to the human's gluttonous whims and wants. The though would have made her sick, if she didn't remember that she could also plan to kill anyone she chose if they misbehaved in their shop and use their carcass for more meat, that thought brought her great satisfaction. "I must agree, my genius companion. There is no reason they should dislike it, it's hot, flavorful and delicious." Zahrina replied happily. She quickly went to work preparing plates for those that would dine in and a tray of glasses filled with a light Mead, no need to get the humans completely drunk before most went to work. "Do you want to open up, or should I?" |

"Sssurely, 'hot, flavorful, and delicious' exactly what they should think of the piesss, and of that outfit. Human men are... sshallow. Well, men in general, I ssuppossse." Flaccil was well aware that compared to human women, the two of them were in fact quite good-looking. Humans. Inferior in just about every way... (except that they had toes..). She looked out the window, seeing the humans - man, woman and child - lined up awaiting... why keep them waiting? "Heheh, I'll open ssso you can finissh with that. I don't mind doing sso at all." She breathed in the smell of the pies she'd grabbed out of the kitchen before setting them down (it was still gratifying to see Zahrina enjoying the scent so much...). Flaccil was sure that if given the chance, the two of them could sit around and eat all of them by themselves - but there was business to do, and more pies to make. She'd been experimenting to make the meat pies satisfying to the human's palate (which had taken time, as Flaccil's taste-buds were more sensitive than the humans', and thus it took more seasoning to make it strong enough for them). Apparently, all Naga had a sharp sense of taste - some more refined than others, but still. Human taste seemed exceedingly weak. Not the taste of their flesh, however... a laugh escaped Flaccil as she moseyed over to the door, gripping the handle and yanking it open. "Hello cusstomers! Welcome to the Meat-Pie Shoppe!" Flaccil cleared her throat, doing her best to control her lisp, "Come in to pick up or sstay awhile for a deliciouss, Languidian-style meat pie!" Instantly there was movement as Flaccil moved back to let their customers meander in - how wonderful! Most of them looked hungry (and they were trying to catch the smell of the pies...). It hurt Flaccil's head to see so many humans gathered in one place at one time, just like shopping in the market had done to her, but it was alright. She would have her fun with them (and their toes) later. For now she'd get her pleasure in the kitchen... and in watching them devour eat other... what a novel concept it was! She looked over at Zahrina selling meat pies and couldn't help but be blissfully happy - their new business venture was turning out better than she'd expected! |

Zahrina almost blushed at Flaccil's comment. She had been somewhat lonely before she had met Flaccil, but she was enough of a companion right now, she had no desire to take up finding a mate. Besides, next time she had the striking fancy to get laid, it was going to be within her own species rather than attempting a vampire again. Shaking herself out of her thoughts again, she would have to be careful about that while working. Quickly finishing her task, she stood at the door between the kitchen and the actual shop, a serving tray of pies and mead in her hands. Within seconds of Flaccil's announcement, the shop was nearly full. It was a good thing she had had the forethought to prepare some things at the beginning. She had expected people to be wary of Naga, but apparently hunger overrides fear in almost every race. Their shop was small, seating only around 40 dine-in customers, but there were more people waiting outside for their seat. She quickly got to work, taking pies and drinks to tables and keeping people overall occupied. Most people were stuffing their face, which brought Zahrina great pleasure, always amusing to watch cannibalism at work. When Zahrina had gotten to every seated customer, she went back into the kitchen for a moment. She whispered over to Flaccil, who was back at it by the stove, "I think this is the best idea in the history of my life. I need a drink, this is exhausting work." She finished with a slight giggle and grabbed a clean glass, poured a bit of mead in it and downed the glass before she had time to think about it. The mead wasn't strong enough to get her drunk, but it was strong enough to give her a boost of energy. Zahrina kept tabs of how many pies each table was getting, how many drinks/refills each person got on a small pad of paper so she would know their final price. It was fairly simple, but then, Naga were also more intelligent than humans so they may not think so. Either way, she did her best to keep up with the flow of people going in and out. It hadn't even been that long and they had already made quite a bit of money. It may have seemed like more because they only had to pay for spices and the crust supplies, they didn't have to worry about meat, which she heard was quite expensive right now. She was looking forward to the few hours when business would slow down. |

"I had mysself a sssip of that mead. Great quality ssstuff... in a pinch." Flaccil followed up Zahrina's giggle with a full scale laugh, "And thisss wasss the idea of your life. I haven't had any asss good, and I'm supposssed to be the inventor!" Flaccil repositioned her glasses with one hand as she stirred her meat concoction with the other. The glasses, those had been the best idea Flaccil had ever come up with, and they weren't as great as this idea was turning out to be. She was having more fun than she'd ever had in her life! It was a break from her disgusting existence in Languidia.. and from her obese, mentally insane mother. Flaccil hardly cared what they were doing to her mother in the mental asylum - at least she wasn't having to put up with her! Zahrina didn't require help to eat or use the bathroom... like her paralyzed mother did. And besides, both of them were too busy to do anything else but work! Customers were pouring out the doors! It wasn't long before she ran out of meat on the man from last night (who knew there'd be such a demand?) and had to resort to the back up she'd scouted out that morning. At least she'd gotten a backup - it was barely lunch and the humans were still coming in, demanding some of their wonderful tasting, manflesh pies. Hmmm. Flaccil would need to add more options to the menu now wouldn't she? She smiled cunningly as she looked out the kitchen window... poor Zahrina could've used some help waiting on the outpouring of customers, but Flaccil had way too much to do in the kitchen right then. She wiped some sweat from her brow, sighing; who would've predicted that business would boom on the first day? And the people who came looked contented, satisfied... like people who would be back for more. Heheh. Hopefully, they'd contract some cannibalistic illness and die in waves! Wouldn't that be the best? Flaccil chuckled to herself evilly... she fingered her necklace (hidden under her apron currently)... "Huh?" A man strode through the door suddenly - one that Flaccil knew, but hadn't expected at all. His strides were long; red, scruffy beard and hair, dirty boots from tracking around in the outskirts of the city... oh no. She hadn't expected him of all people to come! Just great - as long as she stayed in the kitchen though... it should work out. He hadn't ever listened hard to her while she'd described Zahrina to him... had he? She hoped not... Lyn walked into the kitchen casually, arms outstretched and hands up behind his head. So this was the restaurant she was talking about? It didn't look too awesome outside or inside ... but then again, neither did his favorite bar back in Baldicthe. "Hey, hope you don't mind that I took the back entrance. Couldn't have gotten through the front door without maulin' your 'customers'." He stepped up beside Flaccil and looked down at the pies she was making. Good thing she'd told him ahead of time that the meat wasn't beef or he would've eaten one on the spot. "You're horrible, you know." He said, grinning as he returned the stare she was giving him. It had been way too long since he'd left back for Baldicthe. Months since he'd seen her! ...She was greener than he remembered (not that it really mattered). The look on her face was all too happy to see him, and he couldn't resist leaning down to give her a nice thorough kiss. He still remembered exactly how he'd felt on the day he'd left ... his opinion of her had changed pretty drastically over the couple of months they'd been together. At first, the only reason he'd even sought her out was to get revenge on his dead friend (turned out she'd eaten him, which was pretty freaky, but by the time he knew about it the whole maneating thing didn't matter much). But after a few conversations, awkward moments, and half a vial of dictation potion, they had both figured out that it was scaly, furry serpent-dog love. And he was happier than he'd ever been. So far Zahrina had been doing okay about keeping up with the flow of humans. Thankfully the men were so busy stuffing themselves with their brethren they didn't have time or energy to attempt to hit on her, or they were to afraid, and that she could live with. The fewer distractions the better. Collecting another table of dirty dishes and wiping off the table, she headed back for the kitchen to drop them off and grab another round of fresh pies for the next wave. As soon as she opened the door, she smelled something off, it reeked terribly, like dog. "Flaccil what's that-" she started to ask until she opened the door all the way to see a red haired man kissing Flaccil. Half dumbfounded by shock, she quickly closed the door and concentrated on not dropping the dishes, it would be unfortunate if they had to replace such things due to her own carelessness. It didn't take much to figure out that he was a Lycan, he smelled more of dog than man. Though Zahrina was shocked and somewhat disappointed that Flaccil hadn't told her anything when she knew all about her love failure. Then she reminded herself that they had been busy and it was none of her business whether or not Flaccil had a love interest, it shouldn't even have shocked her. Mouth gaping for half a second until she regained composure, she emptied the dishes into the kitchen sink and started setting up new plates to distract her from asking questions. She wanted so badly to, but it too would have to wait until business at least slowed down. Distractions were bad, very very bad. Trying to hurry with her work, she chanced a glance up at the Lycan, he was good looking, very good looking in fact, but he was nothing to Victor, that thought sent a pang of pain through her body, unnoticeable, but nevertheless she felt it all the same. |

Through the corner of her eye, Flaccil spotted Zahrina coming through the door with an armload of dishes - but she was too absorbed in the kiss to necessarily care too much, or to even hear what her friend had said. It was nice just to be in Lyn's presence again, too nice, her day was turning out too good. His lips tasted like he'd visited the bar the night before (which she was about to berate him for again), but she didn't mind the added flavor of liquor. As long as she was kissing him and the world was complete again... what did it matter? What did anything matter? She had a best friend she could trust and a beautiful Lycan to help fade her loneliness... between the two of them, she was the happiest she'd ever been. After separating from the kiss, she started to feel a bit bad about not telling Zahrina about Lyn... especially considering the heartbreak she'd already faced... well, she was still in the kitchen washing up dishes, so why not get introductions over with? "You're horrible for coming in on usss so sssuddenly, Lyn." She really hadn't counted on Zahrina seeing him - or them sharing some intimacy - she figured it was better to keep her private life out of things, but if every relationship was diving headfirst into the personal, she'd might as well let her know. "Sssay Zahrina, I didn't tell you about Lyn, did I?" She pulled on his arm a bit, positioning him to face her business partner and bow like a gentlemen (yeah, like he was one of those). Flaccil was going to downplay this, like it was no biggie. And it wasn't really... it was just another thing in her life. No, it really wasn't - it was something major, like the business or her mother.. their romance was a piece of her puzzle. She'd missed him so much while he'd been away - he seemed ruddier now than he had last time she'd laid eyes on him. Whatever. He'd probably been out running with the military dogs... a lot apparently. She thought back on the nights with full moons since he'd left... her head hurt a bit trying to think about something so trivial, so instead she focused on what she'd tell Zahrina about him later. Of course, she'd let her air all of her questions - it was only right considering she hadn't told her about him at all... |

Lyn didn't even notice that someone else was in the kitchen until after he and Flaccil were done making out. Ah, Zahrina! He'd heard tons about her from Flaccil while he'd been living with her. How she looked, how she was teaching her magic, this and that and okay he'd forgotten most of it. It made him wonder whether or not she knew anything about him ... she had to have. Lyn was just too awesome to go unmentioned, after all (he was Flaccil's first, serious relationship on top of that--not saying anything about him was a crazy thought). "Sssay Zahrina, I didn't tell you about Lyn, did I?" Lyn's eyes must have popped out his skull as she spoke. Did he just imagine that? She'd gone for months without telling this other Naga anything at all? They both stood there awkwardly for a moment before Lyn decided to do something. He shot a look at Flaccil and stepped forward, nodding his head once at Zahrina. Looked like he was the only one who got anything done around here. "Well hi, Zah. Flaccil here," he said, jerking his thumb back in her direction, "has told me way too much about you, but she forgot to mention how cute you are." That ridiculous little hat of hers made him want to laugh his head off, but he just smiled instead. One good thing about being in the Lycan military: learning how to keep down laughter. |

Zahrina hadn't meant to intrude on their moment, but hey it was a part of life. "I don't recall you ever mentioning anything about him, but then again, we've had both our minds on business for quite a while." She let out a smile, it wasn't like she could be angry or anything, though she did feel a tad jealous, but only because of her own heart, nothing that couldn't be contained. She fought the urge to immediately go back to work, that would be rude and the customers could wait two minutes for her to become at least familiar with this male so the same thing didn't become a shocking and reoccurring incident, not that it mattered if it became regular, it was the shocking bit she would have to get over. Returning his slight nod-bow thing he attempted with simply a nod, her temper was half-irked by the tone of his comment. "While I appreciate the compliment, I don't appreciate it while you are laughing at me." She gave him a half-mad/half-amused glare, her attempt at being serious covered by the uplifting though of new company. Flaccil was great, a good friend and trustworthy person, and if she trusted this man, Zahrina had no reason to dislike him, though the thought of regularly watching the two make out was not exactly a wondrous thought, though she could live with that too. Of course she had questions, but of course, as she had reminded herself before, today was busy. "While I would very much enjoy staying back here and becoming acquainted with Lyn, I'm sure our customers would not appreciate the delay, considering the volume of people that are here, if you two will please excuse me," Zahrina said, while finishing up the fresh tray to be taken out of the kitchen. "Don't have too much fun in there you two," she called back as she exited the kitchen. |

"I'm sssure they wouldn't want to wait." Flaccil turned to look out of the small window between the kitchen and the dining room, casually glancing at how many customers they had, "And we won't have too much fun, don't you worry." She waited for Zahrina to walk out, and then turned to Lyn, making an "I'm-displeased-with-you" face. Flaccil had more than one thing to get down on him about - starting with chuckling at her friend's hat! That hat was a vital part of the business! (And she knew that Zahrina liked it... how rude he had to be.) "You don't have to make sssuch a bad firssst impresssion, do you?" She put the top of her head against his chest and sighed, "And you were out drinking last night, weren't you? Then trying to cover it before seeing me! I know your game, Lyn." He was obviously unaware of her tasting abilities. He should've known that he couldn't hide from her! And she should've known that she couldn't hide him from Zahrina forever. Everything comes back around... knowing what had happened between Zahrina and Victor... well, that made things worse. It probably hurt her to see Flaccil happy with Lyn.. though she'd have to talk to her later to get her thoughts on it. Hopefully she'd let her know - they'd already shared so much that it was hard to imagine that Zahrina would censor her opinion on the matter. She brought her eyes back up to meet Lyn's - seeing what his answer to this one would be. He'd have some trouble coming up with an excuse, especially since she was watching his every facial expression and his body language... it wasn't so bad keeping an eye on him. He was attractive, especially now that they had formed a bond - she laughed a little thinking back on the first day when they'd met (and she'd accidentally groped him!). That had been a little crazy. Ok, extremely crazy. Nuts even. It made her a bit sad thinking of how bad she'd hurt him then... almost to the point of death! Well, she couldn't help that her tail was stronger than she even knew... she glanced back out the window to the dining room quickly to see her business partner - who needed some help still.. |

"Ah, don't be that way Flaccil. Always complainin'!" Lyn was laughing again, but the whole situation was just too hilarious. The tacky little hat, the selling human meat pies, the whole shebang. And how had she known he'd been out drinking last night? He'd figured that the smell would be just about gone by the morning. "Anyway, I didn't have that much ..." He saw her grimace, glancing out onto the restaurant floor at Zahrina (even with a tail to balance extra plates on, she still didn't seem to have it all together). Then she quickly returned to her work, making pies (and complaining) at a pretty incredible rate. Maybe Flaccil would stop her grumbling if he actually made himself useful. After all, he knew he was attractive enough to lure in any woman who happened to be passing by the shop. "How 'bout I make up for it by helpin' out at this place for a while?" Wow ... going from a highly-trained Lycan soldier to a lowly busboy? This could get interesting. Sorry, this egg has already been snatched!

Rushing back with another load of dirty dishes Zahrina sighed. She half heard Lyn's offer to help, and hoped that Flaccil didn't mind if she took up his offer. Half turning to Lyn, she politely, despite her annoyance at his failure to contain amusement at her expense, asked, "If you want to help, will you do me the favor of getting the pies on plates so that I can get them out there faster? Please?" She added that extra please just to be overly polite, and it was another attempt to get herself into a friendly mindset so that it was impossible to be rude to the customers. So far it seemed to be working, but then, the humans were being civil as well, so she had no reason to be short with them yet. Looking back out to check on the humans, she saw that everyone was taken care of for now, that wouldn't last long, but she relished the moment and picked up her glass from before and poured a little more mead in it and took small sips periodically to help calm her fraying nerves. She wasn't used to dealing with so many people at once. Talk to one customer, talk to 20 other customers, rush back to the kitchen, get everything she could carry and try to keep everybody satisfied. Though the constant challenge gave her more than a little amusement, she thought that once she had the pace down to a T, she might have to think of something else to keep up the excitement. "How are you doing back here Flaccil?" Zahrina thought it only fair to check up on her, though she seemed entertained and content to pop out pies like they were nothing and yapping at Lyn for things she sorta tuned out, their personal affairs and qualms were none of her business. Having half a thought and wondering why she hadn't before, she poured two more glasses of straight ale and handed a glass to Lyn and the other to Flaccil, she at least, might have needed a pick-me-up, or maybe she would have just liked to have a glass. Either way, she thought it rude to come to the back, have a drink and rush out without at least having offered. |

"I'm doing fine. If it wasssn't for this annoying Lycan, I might even be better." It was right up on lunch shift (had time flown!) and Zahrina looked like she was about to go over the edge... Flaccil hoped that her aggravating little puppy would help her out before her friend really did lose it and killed somebody - it did look highly likely observing Zahrina's face. She watched as her business partner poured herself a drink (so all the pressure was driving her to drink after all), and then she paused as though she'd had a tiny revelation. Hmmm. Poor thing. She then poured two more glasses and handed them to Flaccil and the puppy - er, Lycan man - shakily, spilling a bit off the top of Flaccil's. Ok, she needed help really badly. "Why thank you. You have exss-cellent timing, friend." Flaccil took it from her, patting her on the back. Being in the kitchen with her "lover" was easing the first day stress for Flaccil, not to mention that she didn't have to put up with fussy customers. And if she did start to get tense, she could simply pull on his beard a bit and feel better! Zahrina didn't exactly get that comfort (though she could pull a human's beard... well, the customers might not like that much). She turned to the Lycan suddenly, giving a grin, "Lyn, you'll help out Zzahrina, won't you?" Hey, if he refused, then she could command him to do it, so there was no need to worry about it being an imposition! At least the whole restaurant thing would be over soon... they were only staying open for lunch after all. The evenings would be useful for... the other side of their business. The side the Flaccil was quite looking forward to... oh yes, was she ever looking forward to spilling a little blood - with a friend to boot! Could things be better? It was hard to imagine it - two predators in a town full of prey! Seemed suiting... |
