Too far, much too far had she wandered. Oh, she knew the chief would have her head for this, knew she wouldn't hear the end of it when finally she returned to Ewynd.

That is, if she returned...

Kaikoura's mismatched eyes darted back and forth, her expression all to strained, contorted in panic, nearly appearing in pain. How had she not noticed? Not seen when the forest more or less thinned, and changed to this? Already she felt the difference, already the presence of Luka was gone, her God's watchful gaze back in Ewynd, where it belonged.

She was just so frustrated, at a loss for words, a loss of thought. Where was she? The air had taken on a new stench not a few yards ago, a foul odor she'd never before encountered. Her nose wrinkled as on her body pressed, hoping, praying, her steps led her back home. Unfortunately, too long ago she'd lost which way home was, so much for tracking skills. Through her tousled brown hair slender fingers brushed, her booted feet tread lightly, her leather clothing made not a sound.

Passed countless trees she sped, over numerous roots she stepped, yet still, still nothing felt quite right, nothing felt like home. Even the air around her had lost its crisp feeling, the wood surrounding her was too quiet. Far too quiet. She'd noted the significant absence of numerous creatures she'd grown used to in Ewynd, noted how dearly she missed the call of the Jarlikka, the low growls of the Emeris. Where were they? Where was home?

With each step, the Druid lost her way, lost all hope. And even still that scent grew stronger, the silence melted into far off, distant sounds of civilization...

At the recognition, Kai stopped in her track. With an all-too-hasty movement she gripped her bow, snatching an arrow from the quiver at her back. Yes, yes she was sure she'd heard it, the snapping of leaves, the rustling of something in the underbrush... Why she didn't morph and watch as whatever it was passed, well, Kai couldn't say. Why she simply stood there, pointing her bow aimlessly in numerous directions, she didn't know.

But it was better then nothing.

Crunch, Xnedra stepped a little too hard on a cluster of dried leaves. She thought about retreating back into the trees, away from the woman that seemed so ... alone. Xnedra was supposed to be interacting with humans to gain their trust, but the acquaintance of a druid would be following the same guidelines of her quest...
Xnedra made up her mind. She climbed the tree nearest the druid, but avoiding detection. She rustled the leaves at the very top of the tree and knelt down to watch the druid’s reaction. Her bow was strung and ready to fire, so Xnedra decided to use the tree as a shield when she called out, "Hello, I’m not going to hurt you, I just want to help. My name is Xnedra, what’s yours?"
