Well, my first one I sent in a pm as this forum was being set up. My second one is shrink, which is pretty self explanatory, except I would like it so you can also shrink yourself, and other people, and also reverse it. Because I'd love to be able to lead a charge in a war while riding a squirrel. Races. Hmm.... Gorgons maybe? or Nymphs? Naiads? >insert name here< A willowy race that is extremely good at magic. :( Bad idea. Oh well. |

Shrink is being considered. The land is being considered. Nymphs were on my original list, taken off due to an excess of "woods" races -Elves -Satyrs -Fauns etc. The others? We'll see. And which form of Gorgon are you thinking? |

Well I was asking In regards to yes, Medusa, or the gorgons (I think they were called gorgons?) from the zelda games. In ancient Greek lore they were like demons (yes Medusa was one of them) though they were all female. >__> |

There aren't any Gorgons in Zelda. They are Gorons, and they are about as different from the mythical Greek Gorgons as it is possible to get. Gorons are rock-like creatures that like to roll around and are quite strong and sturdy. And nice, if a bit headstrong. Gorgons are much different, and their description varies across antiquity. Generally in that case you're dealing with a nasty female creature with hair composed of venomous snakes and a gaze that can turn anyone who meets her eye to stone. Sometimes the woman has a long, snakelike tail in lieu of legs but again, the exact description varies. The most famous one was Medusa, who was killed by Perseus using a mirrored shield so he could cut her head off without looking her in the face. [/nerdsmash] |

Lol, thanks Shadyn, for pointing out my absolute lack of proper Zelda memory, and my mistaking of one letter. Love you too. And yes, Shadyn's medusa tail is the one I've heard (yay for Art History?) But she is but the most famous of Gorgons. And either way, what is our vote on the general idea of having them as a race? Personally I'm not too fond of it, merely because there are so many different descriptions and ways of portraying them. But eh, that's just me. |

Well, I knew about gorons. #1 [/nother nerdsmash] Although I have never finished a single zelda game, I have played almost all of them. As for the gorgons, there is a similar creature in Percy Jackson and the Olympians book one. I think it was the thing that his mean math teacher really was. I believe it was similar to the description of a gorgon having a snake tail. They were some kind of demon controlled by Hades in that book. I shall find out what they are called and see if that description is correct. If that is the case, how about using them? *goes to look in book* I will report back with the name. Edit: The teacher's name is Mrs.Dodds "she wasn’t human. She was a shriveled hag with bat wings and claws and a mouth full of yellow fangs, and she was about to slice me to ribbons." Guess that isnt the right thing then, is it? If we are doing the gorgons as a race, I would say the one with a snake tail. Or just let them alternate legs and tail/choose for each character. I did read a book where some gorgons had legs and some had tails, but the ones with tails were really ugly and the ones with legs were normal looking except for the hair. But because they presided over water, even though technically they are nymphs, it wouldn't really matter because they are water based. But whatever. I was just saying the other thing that I had spouted out in the first post. |

It's still being considered, just pointing out that I already said something about it. |

*Didnt know they were nymphs before you said so in this last post* EDIT: Also, these are the descriptions I promised. Ship City(You can name it): The city of ___ was formed when several groups of pirates decided to band together to fight off attacks by bounty hunters. What started out as an attempt at self preservation turned into the city of ___, a group of boats connected by boards, all anchored together. This city stilll remains true to it's roots, and only allows pirate ships and merchant ships that operate in the black market to join the group. There was another, but I can't remember what it is.... Sorry I haven't replied to this yet. Bad Admin is bad. I do like the ship idea, and even in my busy schedule I've been thinking up what can (and inevitably will) be done with the idea. I do appreciate it, and it will be on the boards soon, as soon as I can be bothered. Thanks |
