There was something weird in the air that night in Aigroeg, and Malion just couldnt place it. He had been sitting in the same spot, watching the same plot of land for at least 3 years now. His father was afraid that wolves would attack his home and placed Malion high in a tree to keep a lookout. Malion hated this job, and had grown very tired when the wolves had failed to show their faces over the years.
"Thats because you are there, and they know it." Malion's father would say, Malion had begun to hate his father with every passing day, but what could he do? He knew that if he disobeyed his father, he would be cast out of society and left to fend for himself.
Malion could not sit still, there was something strange going on, and he wanted to know what it was.
"Hello?" He whispered softly into the night air, there was no reply, and Malion laughed silently to himself.
"Heh, I think I'm going mad." With that he drifted off to sleep.
He felt himself floating through the air, as he moved out of the tree and into the sky. He fliped end over end, and landed softly on the moist earth.
"I'm free!" He screamed at the top of his lungs. Suddenly the tree and his father's home were ablaze and Malion fell to the ground. A wolf appeared and stood firmly in front of him.
"Your old man was right." It said.
"What?" Malion was confused, but he did not have time to think, the wolf was already upon him.
"Time to die, Malion, son of Malaf!" He bit into Malion's shoulder. Malion let out a piercing cry, but none heard him, and suddenly nothing was happening.
He sat up, he was in his tree again.
"Wha?...Oh... Dream." He whispered grogily.
"What is it then?" His father was at the base of the tree.
"Oh, I'm sorry dad, it was just a dream." His father gave him a cross look and walked away.
"Sorry to wake you!" Malion called out, but his father showed no sign of hearing what he had said as he walked back into his home.
"This place is driving me insane." Malion said, and with that, he feel into a deep dreamless sleep.
Time passed and Malion grew to like his tree, he was fed at every meal, and while some things were more dificult than others, he had acutally built a small shelter in the large tree.
He bathed in the rain, he even had a chamber pot, although he hated using it.
Even more time passed, and soon his father died, but Malion could no longer be coaxed from his tree, he had become crazy and was prone to singing at random times, often chanting a song or two to the random passerby.
The most common song he sang, went something like this.
"I'm crazy, crazy, dreadfully crazy,
You've no idea where I have to poo,
Crazy, crazy, shockingly crazy,
Much, much too crazy for you!"
Obviously no one wanted anything to do with the man, many kids used to pelt him with rocks, while the smaller kids simply ran away at the sight of his great oak. This made him very lonely, and still he did not dare leave his great tree
Many more years passed, and soon Malion was 17 years of age, which was the legal age of independence in his land.
He jumped for joy when he heard the news, and surely fell out of the tree. Having no arm or leg strength due to being stuck in a tree for 12 years made it impossible for him to climb the tree and he was forced to live on the ground, as no one would come near him to help him back into his tree home.
He suddenly decided that it would be best for him to travel east, for he had heard legends of magnificent trees in a far off place called the Forum lands. These trees were said to be taller than the sky itself, and reached for the stars in the skies with their glorious limbs.
"Well I'm off!" He yelled, he quickly gathered his things, and by quickly I mean instantly, for he had no things for himself, only the clothes on his back and the shoes on his feet.
With that, his strange and confusing journey to the east had begun, for better or for worse.

Malion walked slowly through the landscape, there were few trees as he walked, and none looked as tall or as magnificent as his previous home.
“How long is this going to take?” Malion whispered to himself.
“As long as you want it to,” said a voice next to Malion’s head.
“What? Who?” Said Malion, looking about.
“It is I! The Wizard!” Malion saw a strange man, clad in blue, appear before him.
“Who are you?’ Malion said, in the midst of falling over in fright. The man simply stared and pointed at his hat, it was a pointy hat, with an exclamation point on it.
“I already told you, I am The Wizard!” Malion blinked and eventually stuck out his hand.
“Well… Wizard.”
“The Wizard!” Don’t forget the The part.
“Uh… ok.” Malion repeated the name over and over in his mind; he didn’t want to forget it.
“Ok, The Wizard… I’m looking for The Forum Lands, do you know where they may be.” The Wizard simply smiled and pointed to the east.
“Just beyond the great river.” He said quickly. “Such is the way that I am heading.” Malion was struck with the sudden information; this land was on the other side of water, but he had no boat, nor did this man appear to.
“How do you plan to cross the great river?” Malion said finally, but the Wizard was nowhere to be found. Malion scratched his head and began to walk east again. There were even fewer trees now, and no sign of a river of any kind.
"Where did that guy go?" Malion thought aloud.
"I'm here! I'm always here." Malion fell over onto the ground again and looked up at the strangely dressed man who was suddenly standing above his face.
"What do you need, Westerner?" He said. Malion thought about it and finally stood up.
"Can... you take me to the Forum lands, across the river?" The Wizard laughed to himself and grabbed Malion's arm, suddenly they were both in front of a body of water.
"What!? What just happened?" Malion was confused as to how he got to where he was so quickly.
"Sorry about that Westerner, thought I could get you farther than that, now I must rest." The Wizard laid down on the ground and quickly fell asleep.
Malion was extremely confused at this point, what was happening? Who was this guy? How would he cross the river!? Finally he broke into song.
"I'm so, confused, I'm confused, I'm really confused!
I'm confused; I don’t know what to do!"
He blinked and looked at the sleeping magician.
"Man, I usually make better ones than that. Meh, I’ll work on it later." He finally just sat down and fell asleep; it seemed that this guy wasn’t going to help him.
It wasn’t a deep sleep, for he could still hear the water clearly. He also was unable to situate himself without having a tree branch between his legs.
Somehow though, he eventually lost contact with the physical world, and began to float into the sky, everything was clear now, he could see the river, and even all the way back west.
"Hey!" He yelled, I can see my tree from here!" But something was wrong. The tree was ablaze, and so was his father’s old house. There was a howl and the tree exploded, leaving nothing behind. Malion screamed and fell out of the sky, he had to do something.
He suddenly felt a shaking sensation running through his body, perhaps it was the cold.
"Wake up!" Nope... someone was shaking him literally.
"What?" Malion finally said as he sat up, there was a woman. She was covered in battle armor, and she had the most beautiful hair he had ever seen... although, to be honest, he didn’t really ever see many women in the first place, so he was a little biased.
"Stop screaming, do you want the whole place to hear?" Malion looked past her at the Wizard. He was gone, except for his hat.
"Do ya? Speak!" Malion was snapped back to reality.
"Who... who are you?" He finally said. The woman looked at him strangely and lifted him off of the ground.
"I am Fredrick, well, Fredrick Robert Franklin Joseph the seventh." Malion scratched his head.
"But you may call me Eva." She finally said. Malion choked on his breath, was this person serious?
"Hello... uh, Eva, I am Malion, son of...." He paused, for he technically had no father anymore.
"...none." He finished. Eva looked at him oddly, and then finally smiled.
"Very interesting, Malion son of none. What brings you to the gap of OT?" Malion thought about the question, and then eventually gave up.
"Where?" He said, for he wasn’t sure what OT was, or if he was at its "gap".
"Where, what?" She questioned back.
"What do you mean the gap of OT? Isn’t this the great river?" The woman laughed slightly and Malion saw her teeth for the first time.
"Yes, that is where you are Malion, son of none. What brings you forth?" Malion was quick to answer now.
"I have come to cross the great river gap, and go into the Forum Lands, to find a great tree, one to make my home in." Eva blinked at him.
Malion expected to receive one of his 'you're crazy man!' looks, but this one was something else.
"Where do you hail from, Malion, son of none?" Malion thought this was an odd question to ask at this point in the conversation, but what did he know? He was just your average Joe Tree dweller.
"I come from Aigroeg. In that direction, but, I really must get back there, I think my home is in danger." Eva's eyes lit up with a fiery passion that Malion was unfamiliar with.
"You are a westerner? And you dwell in the high places of the forest?" Malion didn’t see where this was going, so he simply went along with the conversation.
"Uh, yes, I live in the west... and in a tree. And speaking of which, I think that wolves are going to burn down my..."
"You must come with me then!" She blurted out.
"I must take you to the Queen." Malion almost fell over at this proclamation.
"Queen? Me? Why?" He was confused, so he began to sing.
"I'm so confused, I'm con..."
"There is no time for questions or songs, we must go!" Malion was drug by Eva toward a boat of some kind, Malion grabbed the Wizards hat as he passed, he had a feeling that the guy wouldn’t want it lying around.
"Come." She said softly, as Malion approached the boat.
"Get in." She said.
"But, my home."
"There is no time for chats about your wolf-infested lands; the queen will want to see you at once." Malion couldn’t argue, he had never seen a queen before.
As he sat down, Eva got in as well and pulled out an oar, and began to row across the river.
"What have I gotten into?" He said softly as he left the dry ground. He was moving forward alright.
For better or for worse.

Malion had not realized how wide the river was at first glance. It seemed to take them half an hour to get to the half way point. But, in all honesty, he had never ridden in a boat before, and had no idea how long it took to get from one place to another on the open sea.
"How far is the queen again?" Malion finally asked out of bordom.
"The queen is at the other side, in the middle of our thread of greeting, which is deep in the center of OT." Malion couldn't make out what Eva was talking about, so he simply slumped down and remained silent, as the female warrior rowed them gently across the massive river.
He almost fell asleep again, but was quickly shooken awake again by the complicatedly named woman.
"Hark! The creature of the river is upon us." Malion sat up straight and looked about, it was dark out, and he had not noticed the sun fading behind them.
"Creature?" Malion finally said. What was Eva speaking of?
"Yes, the toothed creature known as Dharma lives in the gap and protects the citizens of OT from outsiders."
"Oh! Thats good."
"You, Malion, son of none, are an outsider." Eva commented.
"Yes, but, I'm a guest... right?" Malion wasn't sure if he was going to be a comrade or a sacrifical meal at this point.
"Yes, but she does not know this." Eva stood up in the boat and held up a spear. It was a long spear made of a darkly coloured wood, and had a point made of white stone. Malion wondered as to how he had not already seen it on the small boat.
"Dharma!" She cried. "Do not be on the defensive, for it is I, Fredrick Robert Franklin Joseph the seventh, of the repititious lineage. I mean you no harm, nor does my vagabond aquaintance. For he is Malion of the nonexistant lineage, and I am bearing him to see the queen of the Flowers." The water swirled and the head of a large grey sea-beast apeared before the two water riders. Eva began to speak again.
"My heart forever beats, with the rythm of the street." The creature nodded, and strangely began to speak.
"You may pass Fredrick, and your scragled partner may pass as well. I wish you both good fortune on your journey, for however long or short it may be." And with that the beast beast leaped into the air, revealing its massive fin and tail, and dissapeared back into the depths.
"What was that thing?" Malion felt the need to ask again.
"That was the great river shark of OT. You need not be afraid of it, my western friend. Eva began to row again, and soon they reached the other side. Malion jumped out of the boat and kissed the ground. For he had never wanted to be on it more in his life. Which is saying a lot for a man who lived most of his life away from it. He had the wizard's hat in his hand as he looked back at Eva, of whom was tying the boat to a tree. Suddenly a thought reached his mind.
"Vagabond? What makes you think I'm a vagabond?" Eva laughed and leaned against her spear.
"Well, just look at yourself. You're basically wearing old rags." Malion looked down at his attire. It was true, he had worn the same outfit for 12 years straight. Perhaps it was time for a change.
"You smell pretty bad too." She added, this was also true. Malion hadn't bathed in a while.
"Yes, you are right. I look like a beggar man." Eva laughed again and straightened herself out, moving forward again.
"Come, we have a couple hours walk to the thread of greeting." There was that word again.
"Thread? Like a string? Your queen is on a string of greeting?" Eva turned and shook her head slowly.
"Know you nothing of the lands of the Forum?"
"Uh, no, only that there are tall trees there." he answered honestly.
"The thread of greeting is a place where people go to meet with one another. We call it a thread, because thread is another word for conversation." She paused and looked at him strangly. "What tall trees? Our tree are barely taller than the ones you see here." Malion looked about at the many trees surrounding the two of them, and it was true, the trees werent very tall at all, none nearly as tall as his previous home, which perhaps no longer existed.
"I've heard tales of the great trees in the Forum Lands. Tall enough to touch the stars, they say." Eva thought about this and shook her head again.
"No, no trees in OT are that way. Perhaps in the other two forums there are though." she said.
"Other regions? You mean other than this OT?" he was confused.
"Yes, to the north, there is Spoylaff Re, it is full of the hidden peoples of the lands. They hide in the trees and spy on us, but they mean us no harm. Some say that they speak a language that only they can hear, and others say that they themselves cannot speak to one another, for fear of revealing information that could lead to their downfall. But, ever since the great war they have stayed on there side, and us on ours." She seemed annoyed that someone wouldnt already know this information, but Malion had to push another question.
"And to the south?"
"There is no south of OT... only more water, but to the east is Niam. It is full of trecherous beasts, known as the Trolls." Malion was slightly frightened by the darkness that overcame Eva's voice as she spoke of this land.
"It is perilous to walk in the path of a troll. They do not abide by the laws of the Mods, that were set down so long ago. They simply shuffle around and destroy the very land of the forums. They must be stopped." She had a glint in her eye, and she seemed to be telling Malion something that he had no idea about. So he changed to subject to something nicer,
"Who are the Mods?" Malion suddenly felt a stinging on his face that knocked him to the ground. Eva was holding her hand up.
"Do not speak about the great Mods in this way. They are over us at all times, we must not blaspheme them." Malion was in a daze, and suddenly stood up.
"I... I'm sorry, I didnt know." said Malion quickly. Eva put down her hand.
"The Mods are the creators of all Forums. They are who supplied us with these lands, they rule over us all. We simply watch the land for them, while they are away."
"Away?" Malion had to ask.
"Yes, long ago, when the forum land was in one unity, the Mods lived peacefully with the people, but left for some reason, and said that they would all come back one day."
"Yes, so long ago. I wish I had of been there." Malion almost flipped over backwards at the sound of a different voice.
"Are you ok, beggar man?" A woman stood above him, her hair was short, and bright as the sun. She wore the same armor as Eva.
"Malion, I would like to you to meet my sister. Eve, the nimblest of my sisters." Eve stuck out her hand and lifted Malion up.
"They call me Jumpyeve actually. For none can leap as I can." Jumpyeve lept high and landed on a tree branch high above his head.
"Jumpy! Come down, you musn't show off, it's unbecoming of you." Eva scolded.
"Sorry sis," Jumpyeve said as she landed softly next to Malion.
"And who might you be?" She said.
"I already said his name, its Malion." Eva said loudly.
"Let him say it then, I'd like to hear his voice." Jumpyeve answered back.
"Well, my name is Malion, and I hail from the land of Aigroeg." Jumpyeve stepped back, and her eyes filled with wonder.
"So you hail from the west?" she said, Malion nodded.
"Theres no time for this Jumpyeve, we must get to the Queen!" Jumpyeve shook her head at this.
"What?" said Eva.
"He cannot come into the queen's presence dressed like that. He'll be put to death."
"Don't be so dramatic Jumpy, this is a desprate situation, I'm sure he won't be killed." Malion had to cut in.
"Killed? Why kill me? I dont want that." Jumpyeve nodded and turned to Eva.
"Come on Freddy. He can take a bath at my house. I'm sure that Steven will not mind." Eva shook her head steadily.
"There is no time, you see?! We must see the queen at once."
"A half of an hour will make little difference. Goodness, you are just like your father." Jumpyeve said loudly. Eva's face was red and she seemed about to explode.
"You never knew my father!" She screamed. Malion backed away towards the tree as the two, apparently half-sisters began to bicker loudly.
"I know that he died in his haste. Thats why mom named you after him, because he did not live to produce a male seed after your birth!" Eva pointed her spear at Jumpyeve's head.
"Do not speak ill of my father, if you do, I will kill you without pity." Malion suddenly couldn't sit aside.
"Hey ladies, good peoples, stop this. I will decide, I think that it is best to remove any likelyhood of my death." Eva lowered her spear and glared at him.
"Fine, you may go to my sister's house, if it will please the queen. Although I still think it would be a waste of precious time."
Malion smiled slightly that he had ended the quarrel for now, and all was silent as the three walked on. He thought it best not to ask anymore questions, and besides, there was nothing that he could think to ask at this point, but something struck him, and he blurted out a question.
"Uh, Jumpyeve... who is Steven?" Eve turned sharply and looked at him, she seemed to have a grin on her face.
"Well... Steven is my partner. He lives in my home, they call him the Lamp." Jumpyeve seemed to be lost in memory.
"The lamp? Why is that?" Malion again felt the need to ask.
"Well... his hair is golden like the sun, and one man claimed that Steve's hair could light up a dark room, and then many began to call him Steve the Lamp." Malion thought this was a strange nickname, and decided to put it to music, as he did with most new names that he heard.

"Steve the Lamp,
Steve the Lamp,
Hair is golden even when damp,
He's ahead, in our trip,
When we get there, hope he don't flip,
No doubt,
His name is Steve the Lamp,"

Malion felt a burn on his face again and was suddenly looking up from the ground.
"Why do you sing so randomly?" Jumpyeve asked, putting down her hand.
"Sorry about that, its just something I do sometimes." said Malion, Jumpyeve helped him up.
"Forgive me, for I misread your tune. You are at no fault. Just remember that none should speak ill of Steven, son of Techie, for he is son of the queen and is bonded to mine own self." Malion blinked once or twice before questioning again.
"So he is heir to the throne?" Jumpyeve began to walk again before she spoke.
"Yes, but his two older siblings would have to die first before he took the crown as his own." Malion dropped the conversation as they arrived a wooden building, very similar to one his father lived in.
"This is my home Malion of the west, I allow you to enter it gladly." Malion entered slowly followed by Jumpyeve, and then Eva.
"Lets just get this over with, come Jumpyeve, let us prepare some water, so that we may soon leave." said Eva, Jumpyeve nodded and followed her out of the house. Jumpyeve called back.
"Please make yourself comfortable Malion of the west, we will soon return!" Malion sat in a chair and stared at the door. Soon he would bathe and then see the queen, and then learn why Eva finds him so urgent and important. Whatever that reason may be, for better or for worse.

Malion sat still in the Jumpyeve's hut-like home. He studied the walls and the ceiling, the entire room he was in was comprised of dark greens, and a hint of brown and near to the door there was a massive painting of a warrior standing on what appeared to be a large green-like tree, very similar to the one he had lived in.
Malion stood to look at the picture but suddenly felt a cold metal on the back of his neck. He started to turn to see what was happening when a harsh whisper erupted from behind his head.
"Who are you?" It said. Malion couldn't answer, fear struck him hard and he found himself on the floor, staring at the stone foundation of the building.
"Who are you, knave!? Speak now, or lose your ability to speak again." Malion cleared his throat and spoke as quickly as he could.
“I am Malion, of Aigroeg in the west; I was brought here by Eva and Jumpyeve of OT. Don’t kill me, I mean you no harm!” He felt the blade move away from his neck and a hand grabbing his arm, lifting him to his feet.
“Are the words you speak true?” The man said, his sword still visible.
‘Yes, I swear on all the oaks in my land!” He was sweating, as he had not been forcefully threatened this way before. He suddenly felt the hand loosen on him and drop him to the floor.
“I… am sorry Malion of the Aigroeg, do not speak ill of me to the Jumpyeve.” Malion’s eyes bulged from his head as he noticed this persons golden hair. He almost had to shield his eyes to look at it.
“Hey, you are Steven, Steve the lamp!” Steve nodded his head.
“I see you have heard of me from Eve,” said Steve quickly.
“Yes, I have.” Malion said happily, he was glad that this man wasn’t going to kill him, so glad that he sung his praises.

"Steve the Lamp,
Steve the Lamp,
Hair is golden even when damp,
He is kind, and quite verbose,
He’s the guy we love the most,
No doubt,
His name is Steve the Lamp,"

Steve didn’t move, and then suddenly started to laugh.
“That is very kind of you to say such things of me,” said Steve, “I see you have a way with words” Malion shrugged at this and looked back at the painting on the wall. There was just something about it.
“What is this?” Malion finally asked.
“You do not know? This is a painting of Malaga, the great warrior of the west.” Malion’s eyes seemed to be sucked from his head when he heard this, and he staggered and found it hard to breathe.
“Why is he in a tree?” He had to ask.
“Well, legend has it, that every 100 years, a warrior of the western forest arrives and restores the peace between the three forum lands… where did you say you were from?”
“Uh, the western forest.” Steve’s eyes now began to bulge.
“So that means, that you are…” Malion’s mind was racing, was he supposed to be the savior of a forum he had never seen before.
He sure hoped not… but it sure seemed that way.

To be continued…

The sky was beginning to darken as Fredrick Robert Franklin Joseph and Jumpyeve neared the small stream of water.
“Ok, Jumpy, I’ll get the water, and you gather some wood for the fire.” Jumpy nodded and went over to a nearby tree.
Fredrick, or Eva as she preferred, walked to the stream and sat down the buckets that she had been holding on her spear.
“Ok, now to fill,” She dunked the buckets into the water and stood up to look around, she could have sworn that she heard some noise in the trees but eventually just dismissed it as a bird or a small chipmunk.
“That was strange.” Eva quickly said.
“What is it?” Jumpyeve called out, but suddenly she felt a powerful wind that knocked her over.
“Jumpy!” Eva cried, but it was already upon her, a large creature, twice the size of Eva herself.
“It’s a troll Jumpyeve! Run!” Eva screamed out, and Jumpyeve sprung into the air, landing in a high branch, far above the grey-like creatures head.
It roared a horrible noise and slammed itself against the tree, Jumpyeve held tightly, but didn’t figure that the tree would hold much longer.
“Sit tight Jumpy, I’ll get it.” Eva said quickly, pulling up her spear and throwing at the beast, it stuck in its shoulder and would not budge.
It made a terrible roar and slammed its club onto the ground, and started to run at Eva head on. Eva finally got a good look at its face, it was mangled, even more than a regular troll, it appeared to have been in a gruesome battle at some point.
“Eva!” There was a scream and Eva noticed that Jumpyeve was waving at her.
“Get out of the way!” She screamed. Eva suddenly couldn’t move as the Troll came at her like a giant boulder. She closed her eyes and ducked her head down; perhaps she could escape it from underneath.
“What are you doing? You are going to get ki….” Jumpy’s voice trailed, and the stampede of steps ended. Eva opened her eyes, and saw her spear next to her feet, and saw something that she did not expect to see.
The troll laid lifeless on the ground, its head had been severed from its body and blood was everywhere, but as she came closer she noticed that the head was nowhere to be found.
“What in the world?” Eva began to say, and she noticed that Jumpyeve was standing next to her.
“Did you do this?” She said quickly.
“Uh, no, I don’t have anything strong enough to sever a Troll neck, but he does.” She pointed behind Eva.
She quickly spun around to see a massive man, larger than her, but smaller than the Troll was, he was covered in black armor, and on his head was a black helmet with red horns sticking out either side. He held in his hand a large battle axe that was covered in blood, and although with appeared rather frightening, Eva was filled with joy at the sight of him.
“Salvador!” She cried, and ran over to him. He simply grunted and lifted his axe onto his shoulder.
“Did you kill the troll?” She said dumbly, for she knew the answer.
“Yes.” Salvador spoke in a deep reverberating voice. “I have been tracking him for many a day now, seeing where he was headed, but when he attacked the two of you, I had no choice but to reveal myself and overtake him.”
“What was it doing in OT?” Jumpyeve asked. She didn’t know what to say really, they hadn’t had very many trolls as of late. Perhaps this was a sign that the barriers between the regions were weakening.
“I do not know, that is why I followed it here. I assumed it was looking for something, or someone. But, I guess we will not ever know now.” He slammed his axe into the ground and the earth itself seemed to rumble.
“We are sorry Salvador, we did not mean to foil your hunt, you see we were gathering water for a westerner that we found and…” Salvador turned his head toward Eva as she said this.
“Westerner, you mean the one of the prophesy? You have found him?” He seemed concerned, but none could be sure with that helmet on.
“We are not sure, it seems that way, he even lived in a tree.” With this Salvador lifted Eva up to his face. Jumpyeve gasped, but Eva seemed unmoved by the gesture.
“You must take me to him.” He said quickly.
“You will see him soon enough, all will see him when the Queen of the Flower sees him.” Salvador put her down and bowed slightly.
“If that is how it must be, I will not stand in your way.” He lifted his Axe out of the ground and began to walk east.
“I am off now, but I will see you at the thread of greeting when the time is told.”
“Wait!” Eva said, and Salvador stopped and turned towards her. “Thank you for saving us from that beast, we are in your debt.” Salvador simply waved an arm in dismissal and started off again.
“Oh well Eva, we need to get that water before that creature reddens it any further.” Eva nodded at this and gathered the water, Jumpyeve already had a pile of branch by the time she had the two buckets on her spear and over her shoulders.
“Well let us go, we mustn’t keep Malion waiting, he has probably already met up with Steven, perhaps you should have left a note so as to not cause confusion.” Jumpyeve shrugged at this and began to walk to the hut.
“I think they will be ok.” She said finally. Eva nodded and followed closely behind. They needed to get this over with and see the queen as soon as possible.
For better or for worse, they must get going.

Malion laid himself out on the floor and looked at the ceiling. Too much had happened to him in the short time that his two companions had left to fetch a pail of water.
“Where did Jumpy say she was going again?” Malion looked over at Steven, who had been sitting in the chair next to where he lay.
“She, and Eva went out to get water, apparently I am not hygienic enough to see the queen.” Steve stared at him blankly.
“Do you believe that is the best thing to do in these short times? We are possibly on the verge of war, if the connection between the three lands is corrupted.” Malion had not thought of this before, perhaps the situation was possibly more calamitous than he had hoped it was.
“Well, perhaps we could…” His voice was cut off as Eva and Jumpyeve walked quickly through the door, holding sticks and buckets of water.
“Well, we’re back!” Jumpyeve exclaimed. Little words were exchanged within the next half of an hour, but Malion, before he knew what was happening was in a red tunic, and his long hair had been put into a ponytail. And on his feet were a pair of black boots, made of the finest leather that Malion had ever seen before.
“Wow!” He exclaimed. “That was weird… but thanks for the clothing; I think I may be fit to see the queen now. Or am I wrong in thinking that?”
Eva looked over him and nodded in approval.
“You look very admirable, Malion, son of none. I think your hair looks very brilliant in the light, although not as golden as Steve the Lamp’s hair.” At this Steven stood out of his chair and walked over to Malion.
“Wait a minute.” He started. “You have no father?”
Malion realized that he had failed to mention this, although he saw little point to it.
“Yes, I have none to call my father any longer.” Steven paced in front of him.
“Any longer you say? You had a father once then?” Jumpyeve suddenly grabbed Malion’s arm and began to remove him from the interrogation.
“We must see the queen now, the light is waning, and the journey to the Thread of greeting is far off, at least far enough to call it a journey.” Steven nodded and the four of them set off into the center of OT, to see the queen of the flower, and perhaps have all of problems solved.

Many an hour passed as they walked slowly through the forests of OT, and Malion began to feel weariness in his body. Although to him, it seemed the other three had no problem with the long trek across the green land.
“How much longer is it?” He finally said.
“Not too far,” Said Eva. “We are close at hand.”
Malion sighed at the thought of walking any farther and finally sang out.

“How far, is this thread thing?
How far, is this thread thing?
How far, how far, oh look a star; I think I might pull out my har,
It’s Farrrrrrrrrr! To this thread thing.”

He suddenly felt a burn on both sides of his face, and he stumbled back and landed on the back in the dirt. Both Eva and Jumpyeve were holding their arms up and looking disapprovingly towards Malion’s musical.
“Sorry, that’s how I express my feelings. I love song.” Steve laughed and grabbed Jumpeve’s arm.
“He means no harm Jumpy,” He said quickly. “He adds quite the jestful relief that this journey needs. Let us sing a song as well.”
“I know he means no harm.” Said Eva loudly, “He just shouldn’t complain about seeing the queen.”
“That’s what I was thing,” Said Jumpy. “He needs some reverence to those above himself.”
Steve laughed again and helped Malion off of the ground.
“In time he will learn,” He said merrily. “In the meantime I will sing a song.

Why don’t you fly, like a bird in the sky?
Or swim with the shark in the sea?
Why don’t you sing with every breath?
Well you would if you were near me.”

Steven laughed and Malion did as well, he had never heard one other than himself singing before. As his father was never one for conversation, especially not of the musical kind.
“Very nice, and much more flowing than the songs I sing,” said Malion earnestly.
“Perhaps it is, but my heart does not run through every word as yours does.” Steve quickly replied.
“We have made it!” Eva and Jumpyeve yelled out at the same time.
They crossed ahead of Malion and Steven and pulled the branches aside that were blocking the path.
“Welcome to the thread of greeting!” said Jumpy loudly.
Malion was pushed in first and was in awe of what he saw. The area was a large clearing that had a ground made of white stone, and at each of the four points stood a pillar with the face of a man on it. And in the center was a building that was opened on all sides, save the top, that was also entirely made of white stone. Around the building stood four men in armor carrying large spears, much like the one that Malion saw Eva holding.
But, where was the queen? He did not know, and as he looked at his newly made friends, they seemed not to be concerned as they all walked closer to the white building. For better… hopefully.

Malion walked slowly towards the white building, and suddenly he noticed that the four men around the building were all wearing masks. Each mask was white and had a face that looked similar to the faces that were on the four pillars around the outside of the clearing.
As confusing as this all was, Malion couldn’t help but ask the most logical question.
“Where is the queen again?” Steve simply pointed to the building and it seemed that that was the end of the conversation.
Soon they were standing in the center, and Steven spoke aloud.
“Your majesty, I have brought to you the tree dweller of the west, as was foretold by the Great Prophet, who left us long ago.” Malion was fascinated by this Great Prophet, but decided not to inquire about it.
Suddenly, the four men moved inward around them and held their spears high in the air.
“Welcome Westerner.” Said a female voice, Malion noticed that it was coming from one of the four people that he had assumed were all men.
“Thank you, your… majesty.” The masked woman laughed at this greeting.
“Who is it that says that I am the queen, for all four of us are masked, and you have never heard of my voice before.” Malion didn’t know what to say.
“I will tell you what, if you can correctly identify the correct queen, that person will grant you counsel in journey, and will aid you in any way possible. But, if you are wrong, then you are not the one true heir of Malaga.” Steve stuck up his arm in protest, and Eva seemed dumbfounded.
“You would attack the Prophesy?” Eva asked quickly.
“He is our only chance,” Said Jumpy.
“We will see about that, now choose westerner.” Malion didn’t know what to do, he wasn’t even aware that there was a journey to be taken.
“Uh, I choose you?” He pointed at the woman who had been speaking the entire time. Her mask curled into an evil grin and the four ran at him with spears.
“This is madness!” Steven yelled out. “We must protect Malion!” He pulled out his sword and ran at one of the guards.
“Attack royalty? This is getting out of hand.” Eva said, but quickly pulled out her spear to block one of the oncoming ones.
“Let us not fight!” screamed Jumpyeve as she flipped in the air, just missing another deadly spear thrust.
“Why is this happening?” Yelled Malion, for he had no weapon, only the hat that he had found on The Wizard and that could barely be considered as a weapon.
He lifted it over his head to block a blow from the spear and suddenly it all stopped, the four guards bowed and then vanished into the ground, leaving no sign of them.
“What in the world was that!?” Steven yelled.
“Was that the queen?” Malion asked dumbly.
“No it wasn’t,” Said a voice. “It was me.”
Malion whipped around to see a familiar face.
“The Wizard?” said Malion in a confused tone. He was standing in front of him, and his feet were off of the ground.
“Yes, now if you could be so kind as to give me back my hat.” He looked irritated and Malion didn’t wish to anger him more.
“Yes, I’m sorry, I only had it for safe keeping; you left it out in the open.” He lifted the blue hat up and The Wizard grabbed it and placed it on his head.
“Where is the queen!?” Eva said in an angry tone.
“Beats me, I figured she would be here by now, but when she wasn’t I thought I’d have a little fun with you guys.” His face suddenly went into what seemed to be a grin as he danced around.
“She is gone!” Yelled a voice, and suddenly an Axe came down and spilt The Wizard down the middle, he screamed in agony as he lay in two separate halves on the bloody ground.
“Oh my goodness!” Malion screamed as he fell backwards, looking up at the massive man in black armor.
“Man he’s annoying, isn’t he?” The massive creature said. Malion was speechless, but he noticed that the others weren’t so frightened by the event.
“Are you the Westerner?” He said.
“Uh… yes, yes I am.” Malion found his heart empty of songs, he had never seen death before.
“What in the world?” a voice screamed, and Malion almost died of fright as The Wizard reassembled himself and stood again.
“Sorry Wizard, I’ve always wanted to do that.” The massive man laughed a grim laugh and lifted Malion off of the ground and onto his feet again.
“Do not worry, no man can kill The Wizard, that is his gift that the Mods gave him.”
“Yeah, but it’s still a pain in the head! I thought I might not come back that time, it’s usually only a few seconds.” He stared at the massive man again.
“I am Salvador, and what is your name westerner?” Malion was relived that someone had not died and felt his heart was full of song again.

“Malion’s my name,
and singing is my game,
And though my mind is quite a find,
It’s very hard to tame,
I come from West to find the best,
I hope I don’t sound lame.”

Salvador was unmoved by the song, or at least did not show it with his helmet on.
“Well Malion, of the west, we must go to the north to The Thread of Counsel, which is where the Queen has fled too, and for what reason, I am not sure.” He pointed north with his massive axe, but Malion couldn’t help but feel that this man would stick the giant weapon in his gut sooner or latter.
“It is no problem Malion,” Said Eva. “Salvador is trustworthy, and a helpful bodyguard as well.”
“I do not approve, but I go if Malion goes, we need to protect him,” Said Steven.
“He needs a weapon!” Jumpyeve yelled out, pulling a curved stick out of her backpack.
“A boomerang?” said Salvador.
“Sure, why not,” Said Jumpyeve, “Just throw it, and it comes back to you.”
Malion gripped the boomerang and faced Salvador.
“I guess I’m going north then.” He said.
“And I will come as well!” chimed in The Wizard.
“You?” said Salvador, “Why you?”
“Because I want to go,” Said The Wizard, “And that’s that.” No one argued after that.
“I will go too,” said Steven.
“Don’t count me out,” said Jumpyeve.
“Sure, why not,” said Eva.
“Lead the way Sal!” Malion said, and Salvador lifted his Axe and began to walk north.
“Oh Malion, what are you doing?’ Malion said to himself as he followed silently behind.
For worse, most likely.

Malion dragged his feet forward as he followed the heavily armored Salvador northward. Where was this thread he was going to, and why would the Queen have fled there? These were questions that he felt were pointless to ask, as it seemed that no one wanted to discuss the matter, and the location of the thread didn’t need telling, it was simply to the north, and that is all that mattered apparently.
“Hello Malion,” Said Jumpyeve who was suddenly walking beside him.
“Do you know how to use one of those?” she asked.
“Excuse me?” Malion wasn’t following.
“I’m talking about the boomerang, or any weapon for that matter. Have you ever fought before?” Malion shook his head.
“I have never even held a weapon before, most of my life was peaceful, just sitting in my tree and watching the clouds go by, there was never much need for war in the west, as far as I knew. Although my father always believed that we would one day be under attack by wolves.” Jumpyeve’s eyes bulged at this.
“Wolves? Father?” She seemed to be overflowing with questions.
“Yes, we had wolves, well, I never really saw any, except in my nightmares.”
"What are you talking about?" Jumpyeve wondered.
"Nothing, its not important." Malion added.
