Rogue Shinigami Hunt

It was a calm night and the moon was full. The waters of the Onose River, just outside Karakura´s city boundaries, were fluttering away as if rocked like a baby by an unexisting wind.
Suddenly, on top of the waters, a Sekai Gate appeared that connected this world to the world of Shinigami Soul Society...

Timmay exited thru the gate and looked around as it closed around him, there was nothing to be seen exept some houses close to the river branch.

After scanning the area and determining that no one was around, he shunpo'd around a bit looking for a good and high spot for having a better look around and in a distance. He then found a big enough light post and close enough to the city. He shunpo'd to the top and stood there studying the area around him.

After focusing and determining slight reiatsu tingling in some places. He then jumped and headed towards the first location of his search that was a block of houses that looked all the same...

While Timmay conducted his little search of the buildings, a figure would shift into sight not too far up ahead of him, standing atop one of the man buildings that dotted the area. The raitsu was faint, but clearly that of a Shinigami, and considering the way that the figure had made its entrance, this one at the least knew Shunpo. Zion's eyes gleamed in the night, the red tint to them reflecting in the glow of the moon, a very distinctive sight for most who knew the man as his prior form of Captain Dion Osanki. But no, this was both him, and not. Here today stood the man behind the mask, the very one from plenty a years past, Zion Bakuno. Lifting his head to the sight of Timmay, he had no need to see the younger Shinigami's face, it was obvious enough for someone of Zion's stature to tell the difference....this wasn't Sonranamida. More pressing, he didn't sense his former Captain ANYWHERE near here....this was problematic. Standing rather still, the odd clothing Zion wore bustled in the slight breeze, yet he made no attempt for the sword by his side. Diplomacy, although an annoyance to deal with at times, was still a very useful tool, especially considering this ordeal.

There it was, the source of the reiatsu he had been feeling was now standing in front of him in a building. Timmay examined the person who had appeared, he was bearing strange clothes and had a sword with him. Then, when he he looked at the man's face, he saw what he had been looking for: one of Soul Society's top wanted, former captain of the 5th Squad and rogue shinigami Dion Osanki now known as Zion Bakuno.

He then realized central 46's concern. This was the chance to bring in one of the most dangerous rogue shinigami in existance.

"Zion Bakuno..."

The blue haired shinigami tilted his head ever so slightly to the side at the mention of his name, he didn't recall ever meeting this person, it was likely he had made quite a name for himself when he and his group were forced to evacuate... But no matter, holding a rather determined look on his face, Zion spoke loud enough for Timmay to hear. His words seemed to flow rather soundly, however he didn't appear to be trying to intimidate or threaten.
"Indeed, excuse my informality, but if you would. Where is the Captain of Division 6, Seirei Soranamida?"

Zion was hardly ever this direct with someone he didn't know, however, his patience were thin due to the change in plans. Although, Timmay had yet to show any intentions, for better or worse. Which was likely why the former Captain had yet to make any threatening movements himself.

Timmay looked at the man with some interest. Apparently the man didn't know that Timmay's former captain had resigned and that a new Captain was now in charge of the Division. He wondered what the man wanted with Seirei Soranamida but it didn't matter, what mattered was the capture of the Rogue Shinigami that had caused so much trouble to Soul Society.

Then, with a voice that showed a peace of mind he replied to the man's question:

"I don't know what business you have with that man but I should inform you that he is no longer the Captain of the 6th Division, and as for his whereabouts, I do not know them."

This was rather troubling, Soranamida was no longer a Captain? Although there was no way to verify the information at the here and now, it was a problematic notion to say the least. If not for the fact that it would make his former Captain harder to find, than for the fact that his spies hadn't reported any of it... No, the message had said that Soranamida would be showing his face....than why had this person shown up instead? Perhaps the messenger had betrayed him, however betrayal was a trivial matter for Zion, and usually meant one step back and two forward. No, this had garnered the young man's attention, his curiosity as it was displayed in his gaze. Than it seemed there would really be only one logical question to ask at this point, only one factor that could likely shed some light on what exactly had gone wrong with this particular endeavor...
"I am sorry to hear that, truly. I wouldn't expect you to understand my reasons for wishing an audience with Soranamida, I would however expect for someone who already knows my name to want to express his own, please. From your clothing I would surmise that you yourself are a Captain, Mr...?"

Oddly Zion's words seemed sincere, flowing from one concept to another with a grace all its own.

Timmay observed the man as he talked in a sincere way like he really cared for the formalities and thought they meant for something. Timmay couldn't agree more. Without formalities, all fundamental factors for a clean and understandable conversation would be lost, rendering communication to a primitive state. He sympathized with the man for wanting to express like he did but was thrown a bit off balance by the straight forward affirmations. But once again, he couldn't be more pleased because he too didn't want to stretch the talk much longer.

He deduced that devious talk would be pointless and decided to also give a straight answer:

"Timmay Hayate, Captain of the 6th Divion. And, as you are probably aware since you look for the former captain of my Division, that one of the most important role that the 6th Divion plays in Soul Society is capturing shinigami that break Soul Society's laws and bring them before trial. Such shinigami include yourself. So, I think my being here is pretty much self explanatory from this point on..."

Timmay looked at the man with the same austere and serene look as if he was looking and talking to the most common of man, and, even if he didn't let it be seen in any way thru him, he was ready to get into action at any moment.

A new Captain of the 6th? Well, that did drag a few unsightly answers into the light... Someone was behind setting up this meeting, but who? And why... Was it really as simple as to have him be captured and put to trial, no, more of an execution than a trial. Such was the fate, of those who went against the very core of the Central 46...what a joke. His expression didn't shift in the least at the information Timmay presented, he doubted that the young Captain would understand any excuses that he could give for his actions, pity really.
"I understand quite well the role of the 6th Division, Captain Hayate. As a former member, I too have been where you stand on more than one occasion. We could argue points of view, and moral standing until the world stood still, but I assume orders are orders? However, allow me to make the proposition regardless. Please turn back, forget that you saw me here today, as will I. Neither of us will be thought any less of, my fight is against the Central 46, not their Captains."

Raising his hands at a slight angle away from his body to show that he wasn't making any attempt for the sword at his side, Zion turned on the heel of his foot until his back was presented to Hayate. With his hands at the same angle, the Shinigami took a step in the opposite direction. Considering he knew shunpo, it appeared he were giving Hayate the courtesy of making a choice before attempting to actually leave.

The answer was disapointing, but now unexpected. Once again he understood the man's feelings on the subject, but was a bit offended by his lack of touch. It was not his feelings that were offended, but the 'respect', if you could call it that, that he had grown for the man's speech and way to deal with a situation, which was simmiliar to the way he, himself, would've done it. But now, he sugested that he would leave and pretend that nothing ever hapened, even after he explicity said what he would do. Maybe it was just another formality, maybe not. But either way, he would not trouble himself with the matter because there were more important things to think about instead of the man's choice of conversation.
So, in the same tone as he used before, he spoke:

"You should not expect that kind of behavior from me. And as you know, since you're a former member of the 6th Squad, I now choose to follow the system. I did not make it nor do I intend to opose to it in any way. Maybe I'm right in taking this stance, maybe I'm completely wrong but, as you did then, i choose to abide by it and it shall continue this way untill I see that it doesn't suit me or the rest of the people that also abide by it."
Then, his face changed. It kept the same austere (somewhat superior) and calm lines, but the expression darkened a little as he sensed the end of the conversation coming.

"As for this conversation. I do not see much more meaning for its continuing, so, unless you have something to add, I will carry on with my proposition..."

He looked right into the shinigami's face during all speech and was now paying more attention to any little change of expression.

Zion's advance in the opposite direction of Timmay halted when the Captain began to speak, his foot hovering a mere inch or two from the rooftop. Slowly his eyes closed, taking in every word the young Captain uttered like the crisp air he breathed this night, this night, like so many before. It was ironic, in his younger years of servitude to the 6th Division Zion would have fully agreed, such a terrifying resemblance and testament to change. For a moment, behind the shroud of darkness blanketed by his eyelids, the image of her face was painted...however just as quickly as it graced his mind, it was lost to the darkness. With his hands still angled at his sides, to show no intentions of fighting, Zion broke the silence once Timmay was finished.
"There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so. William Shakespeare...such powerful, and emotion riddled words."

Finally the blue haired shinigami's boot touched against the rooftop, pressing firmly before he turned his head enough to catch sight of Timmay from the corner of his eye, his red pupil rather apparent against the rest of the sight before the Captain. He contemplating simply striking out at Hayate, putting an end to his life as promptly as Central 46 would his own. However it appeared he had finally decided against it, and turned back around to once again face the Captain.
"The meaning of this conversation is that of many, to allow thought before action. To allow a personal perspective of 'good' and 'bad', right and wrong. I too was once stripped of my free will to think before actions, yes, the result is as you say, I followed the system. And the result of that...is that if you bring me before the Central 46 one of two things will happen, I will be put to 'trial' and executed, or locked away until I rot. Once given thought, there is little incentive for me to merely allow myself to be captured you see. As a human once put it quite eloquently, give me liberty or give me death..."

Slowly but surely, Zion's hands lowered from their angled position and returned to his sides. He had still yet to make a move for the sword at his side, however it appeared he was no longer completely passive toward the matter either.
"Doubt is a very powerful thing, Captain Hayate. It has the power to save lives, or end them. The question now, is who will you doubt..."

Hmm, bold... He believed that the shinigami was not saying this because he didn't want to fight, but because he thought that he could make him change his mind. To be expected he thought. Probably the man thought that he was just another pawn of the system and was an ignorant to the people behind the principles that he defended. He probably also thought that because of his apparent age he was actually young. He could not judge him... But as for the purpose behind his determination to uphold Soul Society's and most importantly Central 46's laws, he couldn't hope that the man would understand them, or maybe he could. But no matter, it didn't make a difference in this case, for he would not explain them to the man or, in that case, to anyone.

"Hmmm, if I didn't know any better, which I don't, I'd say that you are suggesting that I let you go and start doubting Central 46 myself... Well, I think that I already made myself clear in saying that I will take you in for whatever unfair trial that awaits you, and there's nothing more to it. You can try to turn me against Central 46 but I have my reasons to support them no matter what they might do in the shadows. But please, do not think bad of me for disagreeing with you in these matters. Just think of it as two people who chose their two seperate paths with different goals, and there's different ways to reach those goals." He finished with a supporting note to show that he had finished that topic.

"Now, since you already stated where you stand on terms of accompanying me back to Soul Society, I will once again ask if you have anything more to add before we do anything else..."

He was not loosing his patience, but was getting a little tired of the talk. He looked at the man and, steady as he could be, waited prepared for anything.

Zion's eyes shifted, if only for a second, growing narrowed before returning to how they had already been. It was of no consequence, had Timmay heeded his warnings or not, turned against the Central 46 or acted as he did now. Zion wasn't afraid of what may happen by the end of this day, he lost that fear a very long time ago...when he lost not only her, but his dear friend...and dare he say, rival.
"How unfortunate, for you."

Moving his right hand slowly but surely toward the sword his left hip, Zion's gloved hand rubbed past the hilt...however, it didn't stop at the hilt. Rather, he moved to pull not only the sword, but its sheath as well from its position beside him. Holding the sword by the center of its sheath, he moved it up in front of himself as if to present it to the Captain before him.
"As I refuse to be brought before their judgment willingly, however, neither do I wish to fight you. If you are truly so secure with sending a man who is fighting to rid the world of corruption, and bring about an era of freedom for not only our kind but of every in existence to his death, than by all means. Take my sword, and run me through with my own blade, murder me in cold blood just as they will. Ignorance may be bliss, but I refuse to let you turn a blind eye toward this reality. If this is the justice you seek, than be a man, and take it with your own hands instead of letting others dirty theirs."

His voice was stern, yet not angry with Timmay. He didn't blame him for this, most may have done exactly as he was doing right now, simply turning a blind eye to the injustice going on right in front of them for 'the greater good'. It made him sick that he was ever so naive, however his eyes didn't waver a moment, even when presenting his life to Hayate.

Was he serious? No one could so easily give away his life just on principle alone. Was it an act, intended for him to fall into some trap?. No. The man had serious in his eyes, he meant what he was doing and would really give his life to him that easily. Lots of questions and uncertanties (none of which he let be seen on his face) ran thru his mind. Why would he give his life for the struggle against an organization which he served for several years? Why did he offer enlightment to Timmay instead of choosing to fight? And if his determination was so strong, needed he be worried that the man's objections might be more concerning that he thought?

"Do not think this represents a change of heart in any way, but an ideal that you so eagerly defend, should be at least heard. Explain me shinigami, what drove you to betray Soul Society and all of its people. And furthermore, what business do you have with Seirei Soranamida?"

Zion showed a curious look in his eyes, inquisitive perhaps of Timmay, it would be understandable considering how little he really knew of the Captain. However he appeared to quell any questions of his own, at least for the time being. Giving Timmay a small nod, the former Captain continued in a steady and calm voice, yet somehow his words continued to flow with a certain grace...almost poetic in manner.
"When you speak of my betrayal, I can only assume you are referring to what happened in Soul Society, while I was under the name of Dion Osanki, and my appearance far differed from whats before you. In all honesty, the original choice to betray Soul Society was not my own...a great deal has happened in my lifetime, in one such event my original memories had been erased, and my form altered against my will. That was when Dion was...created, a product of reliving a new life you could say. He was very similar to me, however I assure you that he and I, although we even shared the same body during later points of the war...were two separate individual personalities. It was Dion who rallied other Shinigami that doubted Soul Society, and him who founded Za Burakku Chou(The Black Butterfly)."

Lowering the sword in front of him a small bit, Zion still held it out at an angle that seemed to suggest he weren't going to use it to attack Timmay.
"It is true, during my original years of service to the 6th Division, I wished these same ideals. To bring freedom and peace, justice, and attempted to do so by following the laws of Central 46. However, by the time my memories returned, and the personality you see before you, the true me, became self-aware again. Dion had already formed an organization of individuals who also wished peace, dreamed of freedom, and sought justice for the loved ones who were unjustly locked away in the Maggots Nest. They were angry, and afraid, I couldn't honestly bring myself to turn them into the Central 46 for execution...even if it was the only way to explain that Dion's traitorous actions were not my own."

Looking away from Timmay, Zion appeared to be thinking rather painfully about the Captains other question, of why he would look for Seirei...
"My business with Soranamida, is that of a personal matter. I believe he knows the location of someone I am searching for..."

I'm a sexy shoeless God of War!!

It had been the second time Akio had been listening into a rather unusual and unique conversation today, he was drawn to the two sources of spiritual energy earlier as they arrived separately causing him a want to investigate which he was glad he had done. Now standing completely in shadows suppressing his own reiryoku Akio paid silent attention to the two Shinigamis conversation, they were certainly different than the Shinigami he remembered in his last encounter these guys were a whole different league.

Akio was actually pressed into a corner of a building facing the two men directly; he was easily standing on a small roof ledge which had another roof lip just above his head shrouding him in darkness perfectly. The only reason he was standing exactly there was to stop the wind from grabbing his full body length white jacket that would be easily heard in any gust of wind. The young boy had certainly learned some tricks of hiding on his Hollow hunts and the fact he didn’t need light to ‘see’ allowed him to have even more hiding spots.

The conversation was so very interesting to the young boy, the Shinigami were actually on opposing sides, and one was actually wanted for crimes of some sort. He had never heard of this situation with the Shinigami though to be honest his parents didn’t enlighten him much on the goings with the Shinigami. Two opposing groups of Shinigami had ideas running through Akios head like any typical sixteen year old, maybe he could talk to this Zion character and cause an alliance with his Za Burakku Chou. Maybe Akio could help protect the Quincy people as he remembered the saying; the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Tonight was very interesting indeed.
