In other circumstances, posting will take turns and be heavily regulated, as per rules of combat rounds.]

All realms have their own legends, and this one is no different. Destiny is eternal, omnipresent through all time and space. Destiny is a story. Now, we look to a new story.

Dew City is located on the eastern coast of the continent Merdru. A unique city, it is surrounded by nearly every kind of climate and land type. To the east are the Greats Seas, hub of worldly trade. To the west is the Dew Forest, source of the city's primary export. To the south, the land becomes arid and dry; it is one of the most deadly deserts in the world. To the north, the forest and waters mix to form a series of wetlands and marshes. This entire mix lies on the easternmost edge of the Gorylla mountain range.

The city itself is a large one, though far from one of the largest in the world. The population stands at approximately 18,000 adults, with the vast majority being human. The city's primary export, not to mention namesake, is the potent drug Dew, harvested from the trees of the nearby forest. No ill effects have been recorded as of yet, however, it is fairly common knowledge to the populace that unrefined Dew is deathly poisonous. Due to this, the drug is kept under heavy regulation by government officials.

Trade in this port city is prosperous, but only to a few. The city's more minor industries are ruled in monopoly, with only a single business doing well at all, while the rest are left to fend for themselves, or starve as their products collect more and more dust. The mayor ignores any complaints about the situation, easily bought off in bribes and gifts by the monopolizing fat cats. However, all things considered. Dew City is a place of general comfort to the citizens.

We take a look at "A Good Bed," one of the local taverns of Dew City, which is doing quite well, despite the fact that it is not one of the large monopolies of the city. Inside sit many individuals who dine on their meat and cheese, who sing songs and dance, who rest and sleep in the good beds of the upper level. On the back wall sits a bar, the tavern owner and barkeep tending to his chosen duties all day, every day. The barmaid, a tall woman of blonde hair and brown eyes, tends to all the tables and customers, making certain everything is up to par. It is here that our destiny can be written...

[All players either start in A Good Bed or are just entering. Free posts between players for a bit, then mod will unfold the story.]

Young, handsome, and usually indifferent to a being's race, Gregorios Wieland sat in A Good Bed eating some boar meat, and keeping an eye out for trouble. He always made an effort to avoid trouble when he could, especially after his father was thrown out of a tavern like this and across the street by some random Half-Orc. He did not hold it against the Half-Orc, as such things happened in taverns.

The travel had been short for Venn but right now he wanted a pint of mead and to relax and think of his next destination, wherever that bloody well was. He had entered Dew City not to long ago and had followed his nose to the “A Good Bed” on the scent of boar meat, something he hadn’t had in some time and felt peckish for. Entering the inn he pulled his cloak hood down and walked to the bar and took a seat. Lifting a hand he ordered a pint of mead before looking around the bar to see what was going on and where the boar meat was coming from.

The barmaid eventually finds her way to Gregorios's table, smiling as he ate his meal. "Is everything to your liking, sir?" she asks, in a pleasant tone. "That will be four silver pieces, please."

****

Plenty of eyes found their way to Venn as he entered, but most quickly left his form. As Venn sits and orders his mead, the barkeep pulls out a brown colored bottle, and pours it into a clean, transparent glass.

"I don't get many elf folk in here. And that will be four copper pieces, good sir."

A Hot Spring & Hot Sake - That's Good Enough For Me

Pin sat in the back corner of the small tavern, he had scoffed at the simplicity of the small Inn's name - "A Good Bed" - as he had entered it earlier that day. On the table before him was a practically empty plate now holding the cleanly picked remains of his whole boar and an empty mug of mead. His hand shifted across the table to his glass, tilting it slightly to look down its entity. Empty, he thought as he looked to the bar where a high elf had only just sat down.

He shifted slightly towards the edge of his seat readying to get up. While his mind was forwardly occupied with getting more drink, the rest of it was still pondering how he had gotten here. Sure he actually knew how he got here, it was the fact as to why he was here that still troubled him. Days before he had prayed to his mighty God seeking direction on how best he could continue his journey forward - a journey to rebuild his people - yet the simple utterances he had gotten back were the two words - DEW CITY.

He sighed as he got up, his armor clanking slightly as he did - The vigilant one, DM Jeff, would never fail you - you are his servant and his word is law... carry forward and all will become more clear... Pin walked over to the bar just beside the high elf and slammed his mug on the counter.

"I needs more meads..."

“I’m just passing through the now.” Venn didn’t mind the comment as he knew his kind didn’t really socialise much with humans. Reaching into a pocket he pulled a gold piece out and placed it on the counter but didn’t let it go before giving the bartender a look of, “Yes I want change.” After a quick moment he picked up his mead and took a sip of the refreshing alcohol and let himself relax, until a seemingly arrogant drunken Dragonborn walked up to the bar and demanded a fresh drink, then he just looked away not wanting to even bother with it.

Smiling at the barmaid, Gregorios reached into one of the pockets of his duster and pulled out a small bag. Taking out four silver pieces, he handed them to the barmaid. "Yes, everything is good." Noticing the Elf walking up to the bar, he spared it only a brief glance. He wasn't entirely sure of the gender of the Elf. Gregorios always found it difficult to tell whether an Elf was male or female, they did look rather similar. His guess was that this particular Elf was male, but again, he was not entirely sure. The Dragonborn that came up to sit beside the Elf was clearly male though. Gregorios had a feeling that judging from the Elf's reaction, things could get a little testy. Scratching his stubble a bit, he went back to eating his boar meat.

"Speaking of what I don't see very often..." the barkeep trailed off, but quickly slapped his hand down on the counter before Pin. "You don't get anymore until you pay for what you've already had, my reptilian friend. You are starting to look more and more like a moocher. Four silver pieces and four copper pieces, please. Eight copper if you want that other drink."

The barkeep turns his attention to Venn's gold coin, swiping it off of the counter and producing the necessary change within a few seconds, leaving the currency by the mug of mead. "Here you go, good sir elf. Please enjoy your time at A Good Bed."

****

The barmaid gave her customer another warm smile and walked off, heading toward her next table. Gregorios's meat had indeed been a nice meal. Sadly enough, he had almost devoured it all. It was a perfect mid-day lunch, but there were still many hours of daylight.

Pin shook his shoulders and head as if a chill had run up his spine, his armor furiously jittering as he did - he hated it when people doubted him, no matter the subject. He was a Dragonborn afterall, a race long revered for their honor, trust, and accountability. One hand slid into the small sack on his side producing a single gold coin which he immediately tapped onto the counter top.

"No Thunderhorn has ever left a debt unpaid for. I think is wise that you not sum up my kind as simple mercenaries or moochers." He gave the barkeep a stern look though making sure not to have it come off as a threat. "Now... that drink, Sir..."

The Dragonborn's head swiveled directly to the side where the high elf was sitting - he looked at the character for a second, not fully interested in who he was, but more so in trying to figure out what he was; at the moment all he could summat was that it was indeed an elf but he quickly shrugged it off in disinterest in deciphering its gender and looked around the rest of the tavern...

His eyes casually following the barmaid as she continued on her rounds, Gregorios' ears turned to the rest of the patrons, taking in the various drinking songs. They tended to blend together into the general background noise one finds in a tavern. Leaning back slightly in his chair he glanced around the room. This was becoming all too routine. He had become a regular of A Good Bed a couple weeks ago, and he needed a change. The Elf and the Dragonborn were something new at least, the Elf more than the Dragonborn. He didn't know where the Dragonborn had come from or why he was here, but he had seem him a few times in the last couple of days.

"Barman what's something good to eat here? I'm feeling peckish for something other than fruit and rations." Venn picked up his change and pocketed it as he continued to look around and see if there was something to amuse him, maybe darts. Taking a long drink of his meand he also pulled his quiver from his back and set it beside him followed by his longbow. Surely no one would want a High Elf armed with a bow to be in a bad mood with them, arrows point blank to the face didn't end well.

Trudging through the forest pathways and eventually seeing the Dew City skyline was a large relief for Zephon. He finally wouldn't have to walk; not that his journey was that long, but it nonetheless tired him. He was used to studying and meditating on his Psionics. Perhaps his legs had been in such disuse they were not in the remembrance of long walks?

Zephon shook it off and continued into the city. He didn't know the layout of the bustling area at all, having been just walking wherever he felt destiny should take him, and was practically lost.

He needed a drink.

Alcoholic or not.

Looking to his left, almost as if some divine force had willed it to be, Zephon's eyes were brought to the sign of "A Good Bed." It was a tavern... right?

Zephon walked through it's doors and, to none of his surprise, saw it was indeed a tavern. He scanned the room rather quickly, and processed nearly everyone inside; a cute barmaid, a dragonborn, one with elven looks, and a shady human who kept to himself, amoungst the random faces Zephon believed to be uninteresting.

Without having paused, Zephon approached the bar, standing next to the Dragonborn, and looked at him. He grinned, perhaps with a cocky look, and then turned to the bartender, "The best tasting thing you have, please."

OOC: [I would like to recommend we all place a link to our character sheets in our siggies, just for ease of mod-use.]

Aduune loosened his leather bracers as he walked out of one of the shadier areas of town. Dew city was certainly beautiful on the outside, but dig past the outermost layer and the polish and shine quickly turned to filth and decay. In fact, one didn't have to look far past the outer appearance of the city to find that it was rotten to its core. The very life-blood of the city was tainted.

His suspicions had started slowly, first when his mother had revealed the embarrassing reason he never knew his father. Then, when his friends got into the market for Dew, surrendering to the blissful high. Aduune had stayed sober, never sampling the drug's chemical structure. He had, however, been curious about it. It took a surprisingly small amount of digging to uncover some disturbing information.

Dew had it's tendrils everywhere, in everything. A Port official starts cracking down on inspections? Suddenly his wife has all the Dew she's ever going to need, and inspection levels drop. Law-makers consider funding research into Dew's effects? Suddenly they all get new additions on their houses and the research idea gets dropped. No, something fishy was certainly going on in Dew City.

That is why he was headed to A Good Bed. He knew his best bet with finding anyone who was willing to scratch the surface of the city was with foreigners. Everyone in-town was already a slave to Dew. As he stepped through the doors, he did a quick scan of the crowd. Dragonborn, humans, elves, halflings, more races he hadn't seen before. Certainly there were plenty of non-natives here. He sidled up to the bar, eying up the crowd carefully, seeing who looked dangerous, who looked nervous, and who looked bored. "An ale, if you would." he said, tapping the barmaid's shoulder as she passed him.

The barkeep reels back, rubbing his goatee to calm the nerves. "Nelly, hold up! One at a time, one at a time! Ok, so another mead for the cleric of craziness-" he pours another mug for Pin, taking the coin fee. "Now you two..." he trails off, turning back to face both Venn and Zephon.

"Our special today is a plate of fresh wild boar [apparently, since all the characters were eating that in their introductory posts DX ]. And for you, I can give you a choice of our best tasting drink. Either the fine cinnamon mead, or the local supply of Dew. Both will take the edge off real nice, I'd say. What will ya take, si-Well now. I hadn't paid much attention before, but I have no idea what you are! Haha, I'm used to serving only humans, and now I get all sorts in my establishment. This is an odd day indeed."

*****

Aduune watched carefully, but the sheer noise of all the drinking and singing prevented him from carefully picking out potential allies. He did notice, however, an unusual group sitting next to the barkeep. An elf with quiver and bow beside him, a dragonborn (an extremely rare race if there ever were one) covered from head to toe in armor, and a xeph. Such creatures hardly ever left their twilight homes for prolonged periods.

"Yes sir, I'll get it right to you," the barmaid replied, heading immediately to the end of the bar, grabbing one of the readied mugs. As she set it on the table, she said again, in the most polite of tones, "Four copper pieces, please."

Thank you, miss. Aduune said as he handed over the coins. He slowly moved closer to the group of foreigners that had congregated at the bar. Turning so that he was perpendicular to them, he tried to Listen in on what they were saying. In an attempt to remain inconspicuous he began to nurse his Ale.
