I'm completely out of ideas at the moment ( though my imagination is normally on overload) so if anyone has anyone ideas they feel like chucking at me ( preferably not at my head- don't wanna break glasses ^^) please go ahead.

Ok well me and Charlotte have been pondering the creation of a freeform RP based on the books "Graceling” and “Fire” by the Author Kristin Cashore. You might be thinking why? Well let me lay down the basics for you to help you understand for those that don’t.

The books are set in a medieval aged world in a land called the Seven Kingdoms and The Dells. Each of these lands are ruled by a King and each of various terrain and style. Though you think ok it’s a medieval world what’s the significance? Well the significance is people called Gracelings!

The concept of being a Graceling or being Graced is simple, from birth to middle age a person can become Graced with an exceptional talent in a specific skill. Not through training or that but instantly a highly skilled individual in their specific skill. It is not instantly known what skill they posses either as it can be anything that they are exceptional in, though not always a useful talent.

Graces vary from Mind reading, fortune telling, combat, archery, horse rising, cooking, singing, healing to event he utterly useless such as climbing trees, turning your torso 180 degrees, or tying a knot. So you can see some Graces are sought after and other well others are discarded.

The way to tell an individual is Graced is because both of their eyes change colour and each eye to a different colour so blue and green, brown and grey etc. So unlike the whole make a profile pick a skill be epic would be in everyones mind there is a little idea we’ve had to mix things up.

Instead of having 100 people with a fighting grace of sorts we would create a list of say 50-100 graces from the most useful to the utterly useless. Then we would give players a few chances to roll a dice to pick their grace. So your gunna think but no what if I get stuck with a useless Grace and be like a normal person, well my answer is you RP a normal person with an advanced skill that they’ll use only in the most imaginative ways

So in summary, exceptionally naturally skilled beings with different colour eyes, Medieval times i.e. horses, sail boats, castles, knights, Kings etc, freeform and a random Grace.

Any thoughts?

Ok guys, so I don't know if its the lack of sleep, or the numerous horror/slasher/serial killer movies I've been watching lately talking. But I think you can already see where I'm going with this, yeah?

We all know some of the basic slasher films killers, Jason, Michael Myers, Freddy Kruger, and theres a few less known ones that even I've found out from watching some recent flicks, hell I'm sure you guys could think up a few none of us have heard of yet. I haven't seen an rp like it, or really anyone mention one like it yet, so I figured, why not go where no one has before? Why not make ourselves a good ol slasher mash up rp? Now, I'm not talking about having every killer from every movie duke it out, no no no. What I'm suggesting is making an rp, where the rper's live through one killer's wanton path of destruction to anothers, or not.

When you think about it that way, it would actually be really easy to transition from one killer like Freddy Kruger for example, and than after that game is done move onto another like Jason, or Myers, or really any number of other killers. Have you ever watched a horror movie and thought, man that person is really a dumb bastard for going down those stairs, or, why would you go into that room?! When we see these movies, even I have to admit that I have NO idea what could possibly be going through someones mind at a time like that...well, why not find out through rping it? Could you really stay true to what you said while watching the movie, and not go down those stairs? Or into that room? When your actually INVOLVED in the situation as opposed to watching it from safety?

I know what your thinking, Nishi, how in the world do we keep things fair? Who is the killer's? Who will die? Who will live? who will be the badass social deadbeat who just so happens to have a shotgun in his black trench coat and can pull moves like neo? Heh, to answer all those questions and more, let me ask you this. Who are we to say? Thats right, who are we to say who should play killer, who will end up dying, or who will end up starting off with a very useful tool or weapon? I say, put your money where your mouth is and leave it to chance, why not have a good ol roll of the dice to determine who gets what role?

In fact, why not take it a step further. Why not go mafia style on it? And only give the results to the actual player? Of course thats just a suggestion, and it would of course be easy to tell who the killer is right from the first post... But if you were to roll, why not have for example. 1= The killer, 2 = The Ahab (the embodiment of everything 'good' in humanity, has some kind of prior connection to the killer and goes to no end to try and stop them.), 3 = The virgin girl (Yes, as it suggests. The prime target of the killer, and the one who just might walk away from the whole ordeal at the end of the game, if shes lucky...), 4 = The Loner (The broody member, possibly has a grudge against the other players and looks out for number one.), etc.

I'm open to suggestions on possible character rolls, however I think that by doing something where the character assumes the role on a fair and leveled pick of the litter not only could we have some rather interesting results, but people may end up playing a role that they never thought they would. And isn't that what rping is really about? Striving to better yourself not only in the ways that you know your good at, but taking the unexpected in stride and attempting to overcome things that maybe your not so good at? Also, if we go with the mafia style of running things, we could even set up a little something similar to mafia where no one knows WHO the killer really is...that would make things pretty interesting for the killer now wouldn't it? Trying to murder everyone else while also trying not to be discovered?

And as always, should players manage to survive the 'round' with their character, why not give them the option to continue into the next round with their character, or to 'refresh' and get another roll for a new role, as it were. Hell with those kinds of odds, maybe you guys may even create a team of serial killer...well....killers. Of course, lets not forget the chance of a possible...'wild card', heh, someone who may have been waiting for a chance like this their whole live, or wants to back stab/betray a certain other player. Honestly the possibilities are endless, why not broaden the horizons of horror?
