I like "They'd rather say it's too easy than say well done," - that reminds me of things like A level results: if people are getting more A grades, everyone assumes the exams are easier rather than young people are getting smarter LOL  Am probably on completely the wrong track here. Great song though :D
Omg I thought of that too :lmao:

When I played Heroes to my mom she said she thought it was in reference to the government and also about the iraq war..because of the "we know what we're doing is illegal" line..or what sounds like that :p
also because of the "leaders pretend they're living like Jesus"

Man this song is good!

she's told that story many times at gigs.. about sing for you.. I wrote it down a few times I think :)..
she says a gig up north somewhere triggered it.. she went there.. was the support act.. and there were only four people there.. so she sang her songs.. did her act.. and then left.. she felt really bad for the headline band.. only 4 people being there.. really embarrassing... so she had a 5 hour drive back and forth for nothing.. no money, nada..
one some occasions she adds that she had to go all alone.. the boyfriend didn't want to come etc.. so she felt sorry for herself already LOL
Yes, I read you put that explanation further back in the thread. I'm guessing either Ella told the journalist a slightly different, less personal version perhaps, or they reported it slightly wrongly! Either way, we know it's abuot her experience of gigging and how it can be a difficult and lonely experience! :( Hopefully it's not like that anymore now she usually goes with daddy and co and gets a few more that 4 people there to watch her!

On the bright side, at least she got a good song out of a bad experience ♥

Ooh yeah, hadn't thought of that. Puts it in a whole new light; a lot of the lyrics could relate to the government actually. Could definitely apply to Iraq. Maybe Open Fire could too - "truths so hard I have to look the other way". Possibly?

So true. I wouldn't wish Ella any sadness, but the beauty of the song almost makes it worthwhile :P
