Abby came stumbling through the trees. Her shoulders were rounded forward with weariness and she had a hand on Jarah's shoulders to keep herself steady. Miles back, Abby had cleaned off the dirt and blood from the wreckage she left behind; but since the dirt had floated back onto her skin and she felt very unclean from the inside out.

The light hit her eyes before she got a full view of the huge meadow with lightly dipping hills, long grasses and flowers threaded through the green. After being in the shade and walking all night the sun had her momentarily blinded. She stumbled and groaned quietly as a hand sprang up to cover and rub her eyes. She stood still for a moment before slowly lowering her hand and blinking her eyes open.

The full view of the meadow was breathtaking. Everything was just so green. The flowers added a polka-dot affect with various shades, colors and shapes as they popped up in patches or rolling blankets. The occasional tree studded the ground, standing tall and very wide with all the branches being on the upper half of the trees, they provided a nicely shaded areas here and there for one who was meandering through. She couldn’t hear any sounds of water, but the open air and the warmth on her skin made her stand a little straighter. The wind picked up and ruffled tendrils her hair, blowing it behind her and plucking at the edges of her blouse. The air was the cool feel of spring coming into full swing.

Quietly and with watchful eyes, she began to walk into the open.

Jarah followed just as silently, sniffing at the grasses here and there to get an idea of what had wandered through the area.

Only the soft whoosh of the blades of grass moving followed them as they walked further and over the crest of a slight mound.

Felix sat in the sparse shade of a tree. His eyes were closed and his legs were crossed. His satchel was on his lap, just as empty as it had been before. The wind through grass was not heard by him, not anymore, not while he focussed only on his breathing. Eventually, he had found a steady rhythm and needed not to focus on it anymore. Now his mind was free to roam wherever it wanted. He began to think about where he will go.

It would be nice to travel, he supposed. It would also be quite beneficial for him to travel. He could see it teaching him a great many things about life. It would be best to go to Radantria and see his parents. Even just a quick visit would be enough. He didn't think he'd be able to handle being in a big, crowded city after spending so long in an isolated and empty camp. It was decided. He would only be there for as long as he had to be. And then he would roam as his mind was doing now.

He would have to consult a map. He did not know much of the outside world and did not want to go anywhere dangerous. He would have to -- he stopped thinking. His breathing had also reflexively stopped as his ears adjusted themselves, searching for a sound. It came again. Grass being crushed underfoot. Someone was walking -- someone and something. The someone was walking unsteadily. He opened his eyes and found a maiden and a tiger wandering the fields. He stood up slowly, his satchel falling to his side, and simply stood where he was. There was a slightly reddened piece of fabric around her neck. She was hurt.

Felix blinked and then began to walk towards her. He hoped that he appeared benevolent enough.

Abby registered the movement out of the corner of her eye and whirled to face the oncoming stranger. Panic fluttered like butterflies in her stomach and fear lit up her eyes. One hand fluttered at her side as if she considered reaching for her weapon and at the movement, Jarah lowered into a crouch, ears pinned back and curving her body around Abby to put herself between the girl and the hiskir headed their way.

Abby caught her lip between her teeth as she thought about what to do. The hiskir didnt look threatening, but by traveling with actors for years, Abby knew very well looks could be so deceiving.

The girl eyed him cautiously. He was covered in a dark brown coat of fur and his whiskers were long and black. She could reddish sheen that glimmered slightly with his movements when the sun hit it. His pants were baggy and he looked oddly like a monk. But she'd never seen a monk outside of their secluded peaceful properties and shrines.

What if he was a monk, he couldnt be that bad right? But a darker thought tugged at her mind. 'He could easily be just like one of the theives, putting on a facade to get close. I should run.. far away. And hide. I need to get to the city, would be safer there with the crowds. Stupid, stupid, stupid to come out into the open! Gah!' But she didnt stop him from aproaching. If he made a wrong move, Abby knew Jarah would handle it.

Felix saw the young girl's hand move slightly although after seeing nothing in it thought nothing of it. He stopped a polite distance away from her, meaning that he wouldn't be invading her personal space or be within reach of a weapon. He doubted that this girl was capapble of much, though. She seemed to be younger than him, and while he did not know much about human life in respect to aging, he supposed that she was mature enough to live alone sufficiently. He noted the bloodstained fabric around her neck again. She had not always been alone.

He bowed, merely a gesture of introduction. The bow would still hold if she did turn out to be a combatant, however, and he raised his head once again. He glanced down at the tiger, not a mite of expression showing on Felix's face, and then looked back up at the girl once more. He noticed stips of fabric covering her wrists as well. He thought he saw a hint of red. Perhaps she had been bound. He would have to ask later. He had decided what to say.

"Hello." He stopped and cleared his throat. It had been a while since any noise had been let out of his mouth. "I mean no harm. It is simply intriguing to see one such as yourself merely --" he looked around "-- walking through these fields. Where might you be heading? Surely you require medical attention?"

Abby's left hand lifted to touch her temporary bandage on her neck and blinked. "Medical.. attention?" It was still so hard to think. Her mind was still in a daze and she couldnt quite feel her lungs in her chest. She felt hollow. Every part of her wanted to erase the image of those dead empty eyes that stared at her as she ran away. So many empty eyes. So much blood. She had never seen that much blood pooling and congealing on the ground before. Abigail shuddered lightly.

Jarah never relaxed but she pressed her body heat against Abby's leg. However, her ears were no longer pinned back even though she remained in a defensive stance.

The girl put her hand back on Jarah's shoulders where it had been during that last little while of their journey to the meadow. Abby's blue gaze never left the hiskir. "Who are you..?" Her voice seemed too high, too breathless.

Felix realised that the maiden might be more wounded than he had thought. "Yes, medical attention. You are wounded," he said. He gestured to the wound that she herself had touched. "I am Felix." He would have extended a hand but he did not want to scare the girl or, more importantly, the tiger next to her. He had already bowed and so did not perform the action again. He might need to lead the girl. She seemed dazed.

"The closest city is Randatria. There is a cathedral in its centre, one of Randatis. I believe they perform healing services there. I don't think we have much time to waste." Felix thought he knew the way back, although he had been isolated from the outer world for so long that he might not be able to find his way. He remembered there being a path somewhere around here -- there would be signs on the edge of the crossroads that would lead him to the city.

On the other hand, it might make them prime targets for bandits. Whether the girl was coming or not, he was going to Randatria. At least now he had a reason to go there.

Abby shifted from foot to foot. "The city...? Yes, we are in the right direction aren't we." She raked her gaze over the meadow. The years traveling with the circus had given her great knowlege of how to live off of her surroundings but not so great of a sense of direction since they never had a destination in mind. All they did was wander all over the land and perform. So all Abby had been doing is trying to walk in as straight of a line as possible and pray it took her to civilization.

Abby felt so lost. She looked at Felix closely, judging his character and try to determine if he was really an okay person. She took a deep breath and caved. "Do you know the way?" She lifted a wrapped hand to run fingers through her hair. "I'm Abby, by the way."

Felix glanced at where the girl was looking and then looked back at her. She seemed to have calmed a bit. And then she ran a hand through her hair in a rather stressed manner. "Alright, Abby. I supose I know the way." He decided it would be best for them to find a path through the meadows. He thought he had seen a signpost somewhere near here as he had first set foot into the meadows. After a bit of searching, he might be able to find it again.

He looked around again. "There's a path near here. I should be able to find it." He began walking away from the tree he had been sitting under previously. "Follow me. There aren't many thieves on these roads but I still wouldn't want you to fall behind." At least, there weren't any thieves six years ago, he thought. A bandit wouldn't target them anyway. They looked poor enough.

A path! He knew a path! Abby gave Jarah a light pat on the head and began to follow the hiskir. She too looked around for anything that might divide the grasses in the form of a path or trail.

But his last comment made her stop. "Th..theives...?" Again the girl bit her lip. Couldnt they avoid the paths that had theives crawling all over them? She hadnt seen any theives wandering through the trees and foliage.

And then in frustration at herself, Abby scrubbed her face with her palms. She shouldnt act like such a coward. She knew how to hold her own in a fight and she had Jarah there to protect her. 'But the theives had caught everyone off guard, while they were sleeping.' Abby shuddered, very much wanting to just sit down and curl up in a ball and let the world pass her by for a while.

Felix stopped walking and turned to Abby as she spoke up. He was about to insist that they risk walking on the trails anyway but the look on her face made him reconsider. He wondered if theieves had anything to do with her wounds. Judging by how she began acting, he supposed that they did. He could not wait until they were safe inside Randatria's walls.

"As I said, there are very few attacks on this road," he reiterated. He drew slightly closer to her, hoping his presence would ease her. He still was not confident enough around the tiger to touch her but he instinctively wanted to put a hand on her shoulder. He restrained himself and simply continued talking. "If you want, we can find the path, ensure we're heading in the right direction, and then move back into the fields again. I will keep track of the sun to make sure we are indeed heading towards the city. If we do not reach the city by nightfall we will camp. We will not light a fire and we will be quiet. The fields should be safe enough. How does that sound, Abby?" He hoped the mention of her name was reassuring.

Felix wished to meditate again. He was needing to think too quickly. He didn't think he was processing everything that needed to be. He hoped that this was indeed the road he had been thinking about -- and that it was still there. If it wasn't, he would be lost. No, he thought. No, I won't. I had scoured this area as a child looking for the camp. This place will come back to me. It has only been six years. He looked around. This meadow, for example. This is exactly as it was six years ago. Then again, it is also like every other patch of meadow here, save for the odd tree. He turned away from Abby and sighed quietly, not letting her see his resolve falter.

Returning to the camp seemed like more and more of a good idea. He pretended to look around as he continued to think.
