*shrugs* Heck, even without the Automated Hatchery, my eggs and hatchies are still getting enough stats to keep them out of the ICU so far. And I agree with Znogirl... I loved this site's hatchery.

well if that's his wish i guess ill abide by it so no dragons have to die due to this board being banned. though all of you people out there dramatizing that its going to take forever to click normally ill tell you this. before i found out about snap links, i used to click one by one. would do a couple rows using my center mouse wheel, close all the tabs, and repeat. took me about 10 mins to get halfway through the hatchery. so as you can see it doesnt really take all that much time to get through it.

and until the hatchery problem is solved, i thought of a random idea that may work to get a mini-"hatchery" going. since members already have a few eggs in their sigs, why not use that as a "hatchery" of sorts. just make a limit as to how many eggs/hatchlings can be displayed at once. then make a topic that people post in. then all you have to do is go through the topic and click the eggs in the sigs, so the dragons get clicks. idk, just kinda random.

in any case i hope this whole problem can get sorted out. this site has helped a lot of my dragons grow up to adulthood and i would hate to see this site go down.

I know that there has been some speculation about why the hatchery was banned, and I know that TJ hasn't answered any questions he has received about why. I think it might be due to the whole hatchery loading at once. That might have caused as much (or even more) drain on the server than SnapLinks. Have you looked at the other hatcheries, especially Pets Galore and Dragon Cave Fansite? They have initiated a 'popup' feature, a small window that opens in your browser and displays a small number of eggs/hatchlings at a time. Views but no clicks. You might look into how it is done, and send another to TJ to ask if initiating this method would lift the ban. This is my favorite hatchery, and I would certainly like to see it reactivated. I also, pmed TJ to ask him to at least let you know if the banning was permanent or there was a way you could be reactivated. Apparently that pm received no response either. I hope this issue is resolved soon. It would be a nice Christmas present for many of us.

Nie, if you don't know about SL, you don't have to worry about using it. :3 (Incidentally though, SL is an addon for Firefox that lets you click massive amounts of links by opening each of them in a new tab. 'Nuff said.)

Lol...so much for this having been a fun dragon site >.> I can understand banning it from clicking eggs in the actual site, but here? Comeon >.>
Okay think for a moment. Every single dragon image out there is LINKED to a DC page.

When you use snaplinks you are hitting the DC server for 10s or 100s of requests for info at ONCE!

Now, given there are over 10K players, if even HALF of them use SLs, then that's over 500K requests AT ONCE!

It is NOT ERHQ that is BOTHERED by this, but the DRAGON CAVE SERVERS! SNAP LINKS REQUESTS ALL THESE LINKS SIMULTANEOUSLY!
I understand that just fine. But i figure its not much different from going in, holding ctrl, and hitting as many dragons as you can. It click as many in only a few seconds more.....Seems like it would be almost the same amount of demand as snaplinks. Not that Im really for or against it, I usually used ctrl and click anyway. Just wondering what the big difference would be.

My first statement wasnt directed at ERHQ, but that I understand not being able to use snaplinks on the actual dragcave.net site, but on sites like this and other click forums it shouldnt be that big of a deal. Especially with most of them holding only 10-20 eggs/hatchlings per click area.

Look at it this way, Ryu: Imagine that you're, oh let's say... a secretary that has to direct calls. Say that a massive amount of people are calling your workplace at the exact same time. Even ten or twenty calls at the same time would be positively daunting. This would be a huge strain on you. If those calls came in at least half a second apart, it'd at least give you some time to work on it before the next one came in.

Now switch that hypothetical situation to DC: you, the secretary is the server, and the calls are all of the requests to load pages. Ctrl+click or middle button clicking gives the server at least a little time to think about it before a new request is put in to view that page. With SnapLinks though, it has to try and do it all at once... a feat of multi-tasking that takes a lot of effort to complete. Yes, the server can process things a lot faster than any human can, but it can still only handle so much.

(Now, this SnapLinks thing MAY have put some strain on ERHQ, but not nearly as much as DC as the host site for the dragons. ERHQ is the minority server here.)

I go to the AP for a lot of my eggs. One time I had my cursor RIGHT OVER a space to click the instant an egg shape appeared.

It did, it was a silver hatchling, I clicked reflexively — and didn't get it.

I was like, "Dang!! Some 14-year-old in Texas with video game-honed eye-hand coordination beat me! I *am* getting old!"

I didn't even know what Snaplinks were, never mind how they worked. Yeah. It is cheating. Get off the steroids and take the ginger out of your horse's Great Egress, guys. It's good to know that my eye-hand reflexes are up to snuff, but skill shouldn't take a back seat to machines.
Wish list: cave-born or bred, (M) silver hatchling, either-sex alt black hatchling...and of course, MORE SPLITS! Always, MORE SPLITS!!

Well, I don't have a problem with the No Snaplinks directive. I've been clicking them one at a time in the hatchery. Also, in DC, I have been clicking eggs for four hours now and still don't have a speckled egg! I have been doing them one at a time and the lag time has been frustrating. So I'm glad no snaplinks can be used anymore. Maybe I can get a chance for the egg I would like, too, now. Thank you. :X You bozos who are mucking it up, cut it out, will ya?

TJ you are my newest pal  And thank you Wee Zee for all that you do!

Ok, I have No idea what a snaplink is, so I don't use one. All I know is that I hate having to click all those eggs just to add my own. :-/ I don't get why I have to.

You have to click before you can add because it's a Click Exchange Site, not a add my eggs and leave site.

Closing, as it seems we're getting off topic.
Please, read the Board Rules, ICU Rules, Chat Rules, & the FAQ before you do anything.
