There was a wind that day. It made the glassy water move a little faster, occasionally making a wave break. There were some clouds in the sky, but overall there was a still, cool, and cloudless sight as far as the eyes could see. There was no one around. It was fairly barren. The Garden was not too far away, but it was still a good bit away from here. It was a sight to see, and it was a sight that few ever got to see, should never see.

The destruction was immense, and all that was left of this beautiful town’s spirit lay in the center of the ocean in a garden, and the only way to get there was across these stepping stones that someone without good balance could more or less kill themselves on? That Garden was the heart of San Fran, and the Dodger would come out to check on it whenever he could. There were others that came to check too, but he always made sure that the heart was still there. If it wasn’t, then this was lost. The Government had the White House as it’s symbol, and the rebels had this.

“The fight is still going on,” the Dodger said to the ocean. He knew that the ocean would carry the message to the Garden, for it was too hard to get to for the moment, and he was meeting someone here.

The Dodger was standing on a fairly large slab of concrete left over from the Golden Gate, and so he was comfortable. The rest of the stones to get to the Garden were jagged and dangerous. He didn’t know if his friend could actually still get over there. There was more than a good chance that he could, but The Dodger didn’t want to find out. He was dressed in his full military attire. Sunglass and his baseball cap helped to hide his face a great deal from the sun and from sight. That was when he heard the footsteps coming his way, as someone hopped across the pathway to get to where he was.

“I knew you would come…” he said, “Macyntyre.”

"It's been a while, Klaus." Thomas walked up the pathway, hands in pocket. Thomas had been following a lead on a specific rebel known as the Dodger in social circles. The dodger had been making fools of other government agents, becoming sort of an urban legend. Thomas was sent in to find out more. Instead, He found Klaus.

"So, Little Birdie told me I'd find a rebel around here. Known as the Dodger. Every time it seems that my people come close to capturing him, he escapes and makes them look like idiots with their thumbs up their asses. WE got some reports he frequents this place and then disappears again. So Now i gotta ask you something klaus..." Thomas pulls his silenced M9 out and cocks the hammer. "...mind telling me what you are doing here?"

“I’m not armed Macyntyre, and there’s a reason for it. You can lower your weapon; I’m not going to attack you. I just want to talk with ya. Is that okay?” Klaus asked with a fairly angry tone. “You know before you were a douche bag, you were my friend. So can’t you give me that at least?” Klaus even turned to look at him, and he held his hands up and everything. There was no reason for Macyntyre to be here, but he was. Now Klaus was going to have to deal with a ghost from his past, and he hated ghost from his past.

“I’ll tell you what I’m doing out here. I’m looking at what your fucking people did. I come out here as much as I can so that I can remind myself why I’m fighting against people like you. The people that are blind, so blind that they can’t even see how far their heads are up their ass. You know that I’m THE Dodger just was well as I know most of your military tactic,” Klaus said with a fiery passion. He didn’t want anything to come between him and Macyntyre, for they had been good friends for a long time.

He hoped that telling the man this would make him at least lower his weapon and talk without gunpoint. Then again there was always a chance that there would be no such luck.

Macyntyre's Sight was on Klaus' head. He couldn't just ignore years of training based solely on this rebel's word. Even if he was a friend once before. If this war has taught him anything, it is to be prepared to shoot to kill.

Thomas slowly came closer to his target, his gun still trained on his target. Don't forget, Tom. He's a rebel bastard. A notorious one at that. You capture him, you get to retire a rich man on the other side of the fucking world. However, his conscience was working in overdrive. Up until now, these two men had been keeping in touch, regardless of decisions they had made.

"Klaus," Tom said as he crept even closer, "If you are lying to me in anyway, i will not hesitate to shoot both your kneecaps off and use your crippled body as propaganda." Macyntyre stopped where he was. Thomas stood ten feet from his friend. After what seemed like ages, Tom slowly lowered his weapon and holstered it.

Macyntyre looked klaus dead in the eyes and said "You have five minutes...Let's talk."

“Thank you for at least giving an old friend five minutes. That’s gracious of you,” Klaus snarled. “Look at you, you can’t even talk to me without it being all business. You stupid bastard, I’m not the one that tortured you. We aren’t all the same. You forget that, just like you forget that not everyone has to be the same. The government that you strive so hard to protect has passed laws that force everyone to be good, moral, uptight brainless zombies. Can’t you see that Tom. When we were serving together you said that you were trying to fight tyranny. I remember we even made a pact with each other that we would stay together as long as we could and fight it all together. Do you remember that?”

Klaus was trying to be as nice as he could, but what Macyntyre might not have been aware of was that one of his men had killed one of Klaus’s men. Klaus’s men were his family, and he didn’t appreciate it. Yet here he stood. He was unarmed, wanting to talk, and Macyntyre was more interested in procedure. He was more interested in following orders.

“Don’t just follow orders, Thomas. You’re better than that. I know you. I know you are better than that. I came here especially, hoping that you would come. I wanted you to see this. This is what the government has caused.” Klaus held up his hands and spun to show him the wreckage that was once the Golden Gate Bridge. After he spun once he took off his sunglasses, something he rarely did due to his eyes. He looked Macyntyre in the face.

“Can you really shoot me?”

Tom calmly pulled out his M9, aimed for Klaus' sunglasses and shot them out of his hand. "I hope that answers your question." Tom had heard enough. He was hoping Klaus wouldn't get all high and mighty over this, But Tom had chosen his path and Klaus his. "Times Change, Wainwright. So do people. I was hoping to it wouldn't come to this but you've made quite a mess." Macyntyre touched the headset in his ear. "This is Wraith, I've located the Dodger. Close in on my position."

"Well Dodger..." Tom's voice shifted to a deeper tone. "Let's see how well you live up to your Moniker."

Klaus didn’t react a single bit when Macyntyre shot the glasses. His hand still stayed as though he was clutching them. Klaus had lost the ability to be intimidated; that died with his father. The only way to get to Klaus was to do something terrible to someone he loved, but then again it had been so long that Macyntyre probably didn’t know that. He was still involved in torture and physical pain.

“I made a mess, Macyntyre? Do you know what I’ve actually done? I usually don’t leave Chicago, and the government has no jurisdiction there anymore. I get blamed for things that you idiots can’t pin on anyone else. If there is corruption in the government and a senator has been found dead, I get blamed. If you find something stolen, I get blamed. You don’t know what information you have because you are lied to all the time.” Some of this of was a lie, mostly him not leaving Chicago. He was infuriated now, he didn’t think that Macyntyre would end up like this, but it was worse than he had thought.

“You don’t know what to believe anymore. You are just a sad shell of a man. If the government told you to wipe your ass with your hand, you’d do it. Open your eyes. You shot at me, yet I never did anything to you. You blame me for the mistakes of the government that you represent. Can you not see that you are just as bad as they are; yet here I am giving you a chance. You don’t even let me finish what I’m saying and already you call your goons. Are you so old, so afraid of the Dodger that you can’t even fight me by yourself? You have to call in back up?” Klaus questioned. He did actually look distressed about all of this.

“You’re pathetic, old friend…”

"You chose the path you wanted to live. You decided to rebel. you decided to oppose the government. So don't bitch when you become the scapegoat. Your actions make you the face of rebellion. Now this is going to end in two ways. You come with me like a good boy and you get to live. Hell, I can even put in a good word and have your sentence reduced to inciting a riot. That's 3 months, Tops, in today's world. Or, you can run, at which point i will not hesitate to chase after you and bring you down myself."

Macyntyre readjusted his grip on his pistol, still trained in between Wainwright's eyes. Beads of sweat started to form on Tom's brow. He knew that at any moment, Klaus could dash off. He couldn't lose sight of him. And he couldn't let him get killed by just any regular soldier. No, This was a personal affair.

"What's it gonna be Wainwright? You don't have much time to decide."
