Directly south of the Arcanum lies Edean’s religious mecca, The Temple. Here, residents take time to meditate and reflect as well as take part in the services and rituals occur from time to time. Within the Temple are the most faithful and true followers of the Goddess and her Patrons. The gardens and ponds surrounding The Temple are so vast and teeming with life that one would believe it to be situated in a forest glade rather than in the middle of a settlement. Many find nature's comforting presence a welcome respite from the vast stone thoroughfares of the rest of the Enclave. The atmosphere of the gardens and The Temple is a quiet and somewhat melancholy one. It does not have the feeling of confinement that one feels in the main town where the buildings are grouped close together. The Temple itself is situated on an island in the largest pond. Graceful paths and bridges span the lake and provide entrances to the temple from all sides. Steps line each side of the square and lead to the top of the platform. The Temple is open to the stars: hundreds of pillars line the perimeter of the room holding up the open-dome shaped structure. The air smells of fragrant oils and visitors arrange themselves in a circular arrangement around the perimeter of the room on the floor. Candles are arranged in interesting formations in front of them. No one is speaking, the only sounds are the birds outside and the muffled footsteps of those entering and leaving. |
