In the center of the enclave community stands The Arcanum, an elegant spire’d tower that rests on a nexus of ley lines. It houses the Elder Council chambers, common rooms, University and Edean’s own Archive. A grand marble staircase begins at the foot of the tower in the square and encircles its entire height with landings along the way open to various levels of the tower. Light streams through the tall glass windows and illuminate the grand interiors of the tower. The first level is the Archive, Edean’s main repository of ancient wisdom and knowledge, housing tomes, scrolls and texts of great literature, history and legend. It is in these halls where Archivists research and catalogue every known spell, artifact, reagent and magic item. The tomes on the highest of shelves can be reached with magical lifts. Continuing along the winding staircase, leads to a second landing and the entrance to The University. Here, Edean’s greatest mages educate the youngest members of the community in the magical arts. The University is comprised of a series of elaborately decorated halls that serve as classrooms and common rooms. The next stop along the winding staircase leads to the Elder Council chambers. The doorway empties into a large antechamber. The main chambers are not usually open to the public and as such, the large gilded door at the far end of the antechamber remains locked. The Council is a private one, and the door only opens in times of great need. |
