Sector: Arkanis Sector.
System: Tatoo.
Planet: Tatooine.
Population: 2,000,000.

Status: Searching…..Searching…..
Status: Trace element found: Mandalorian Iron Detected. 90.718474 kg.
Status: Subjects found at: Xelric Draw.

Tracking….

Some of the perks of being a Mandalorian Warrior, you get paid a whole fraking lot of credits to do stuff. The cons of being a Mandalorian Warrior… You typically get volunteered to do really risky , without your consent. Such as being thrown into a hover truck and given the briefest, if nearly unintelligent mission summery of the whole galaxy! For Zeronen Darkmune and his little band of warriors, that meant more honor to their credit. Down side of it was, he was only had his Beskad and Mandalorian Assault Rifle on him. While the others were better equipped then he was it was still a hairy mission. That mission: Attack a rival crime lords’ base hidden in Xelric Draw.

Lucky for the Warriors they had been dropped off on the higher ground, so they could fire down on the enemy. However, they were outnumbered damn near 10 to 1. The incoming fire was far from accurate, but it was being thrown up in bulk. It was only a matter of time before one of the six men and women under Zeronen got hit, and he was hoping it wasn’t his teams’ medic.

“Fierfek…”
Zero cursed. Muttering it under his breath as a blaster bolt slammed into the bolder he was taking cover behind. Leaving one of several small burnt and smoldering craters in the stone where it hit. "Whose bright idea was it to take this job exactly?” Zero asked over his teams Comm. He wasn’t referring to the situation they were in at that moment, but the job of working for a local crime lord. A Hutt named Brolrak. “That would have been Rico, Cousin.” Said his cousin and clansmen, Fi, who was right next to him behind the bolder. “Oh yes, blame the guy how has to patch you up Fi Darkmune!” Rico Tarng, snapped back, the teams’ medic.

“Rangir”
Zero shouted, quieting any infighting before it broke out. He then pointed to one of the other Warriors along his small line. She was small, but carried a hunting rifle with a 12X and 20x scope. “Mara, time to play Ram’ser and stop fraking around with these Chakaars!” he ordered. He was getting tired of dealing with them already.

Under her helmet, Mara grinned as set her carbine down, only to draw out the hunting rifle. “Aye, Alorir.” She said as she steadied her weapon. She was the teams “Ram’ser", or Marksmen, and she was very good at her task. Steadying her breath, she waited till one of the thugs popped into her scopes sights before shooting him center-mass. The force of the larger plasma bolt was enough to knock the poor soul back 5 feet and not get back up again.

“Nice shot!”
Kote Darkmune said. She was hunkered down about 10 feet from Mara’s position. She was the last of the three Darkmunes in the team, and by far the youngest of all. The others, Jasmine & Alana Ordo were lobbing thermal detonators down the hill, while Fordo Starkiller was forcing the enemy to keep their heads down with heavy fire from his LS-150 heavy repeater. But even with all this fire power, Zero knew, as they all did, that was going to be a long fight…

Vocab:
  • Oisk. Dung.
  • Ram'ser, Sniper/Marksmen.
  • Chakaar, Thief, Criminal.
  • Alorir, lead.

Tatooine. If she ever had the bright idea to return here it would be somewhere way down the track. She'd agreed to come here and work for a trading company, fixing up speeders and the like but she was over it quickly. Today was supposed to be it, contract terminated and she could go back to a cooler environment. In fact she was considering Hoth to counteract the heat she'd had to endure here on Tatooine. But nothing went as planned on the desert planet, and really she should have known it wouldn't.

The speeder she'd been traveling in had chewed up too much sand and she was forced to stop it and inspect the damage. She wasn't all that far from Xelric Draw according to her displays so she wasn't too concerned, a trading hub like that would be a great place to find any parts she might need. First though she'd have to figure out what parts were needed. The huffing and puffing of her companion Vurk was a bit of a distraction though. He seemed to enjoy the heat even less than her, it surprised her that he was even on this planet.

Rolling out from underneath the speeder she pushed herself to her feet and brushed off the sand a bit form her clothes. Today wearing a sand colored outfit, long pants to her combat boots and the shirt covered her arms down just past her elbows, though it didn't reach the top of her pants so some of her belly was exposed. Her hair was tied up and had a sand colored material covering it and a piece of clothe attached that when hooked up covered her face except for her eyes.

"Looks like we're walkin' Vurk, grab the water and let's get started." She told him as she took out her own backpack from the speeder and slung it on her back. Vurk muttered something in his native tongue. The Noghri tongue wasn't something she understood but she could guess what he was saying. She'd never actually seen a Noghri until she'd met him. "C'mon, last one there's a nerf herder."

With a grin she started on her way, Vurk grumbling but still followed. It was hot and annoying in the sand as they progressed. Estarra had clipped the clothe so that it hid her face, ultimately leaving only her eyes, forearms and belly exposed. Probably not a great idea to leave even that much exposed to the planet's harshness. As they continued something started reaching her ears, distant noise of some kind and it continued to bother her until she stopped and looked ahead carefully, there wasn't much to see, another dune but she imagine what was just beyond that dune.

"Hear that?" Estarra asked the Noghri who instantly seemed to tense and be alert, muttering something that sounded a little more cautious. Another sound. "That's an explosion, think there's a fight going on not too far form here." She glanced behind her but there was no sign of the speeder, it was too far away. "Pirates? Maybe." She considered and took her blaster in her hand.

Vurk gestured to a greater distance. "Perhaps we should go around the fight, let us not get involved in a battle that is not ours."

Estarra cocked an eyebrow at him. "I thought your kind were supposed to be warriors."

"Yes but you are no warrior Estarra, you would get injured." Vurk said it with such great certainty.

That sparked irritation for the human female. "I'm not as defenseless or breakable as you seem to think." Without waiting for a response she started up the dune, determined to get a look at what was going on. She kept herself low to the ground, hoping with the sand colored outfit she wouldn't be seen and could get a better understanding of what was taking place.

“OH Frak!” Fordo yelled before he dived behind another section of rocky outcrops a few seconds before a rocket slammed into cover he was behind. The explosion smashed the heavy rocks into chunks the as large as most men’s torsos. From his position Zero couldn’t see past the dust and smoke so he couldn’t visually assess status of his heavy hitter. “Fordo, what’s your status?” he asked over the comm. The groan he received wasn’t what he wanted to hear till he got a straight answer. “I’m clear, just a few dings on the old Beskar’gam, Sir. I’m Fit-to-fight, Alorir.” Fordo replied before he heaved his massive LS-150 around the outcropping and started to open fire again.

Zero knew his way around explosives, and that sort of carnage was only made with a Rocket-Propelled Grenade. Now things were getting serious, Zero knew if they were breaking those out all hell was about break out. The needed to knock out those heavies and fast before they were out of placed to duck behind. “Mara,” Zero called out, “We need you to focus your fire the R.P.G.s and ASAP!” To her credit, Mara didn’t even respond before she got one of the thugs with a launcher in her sights. Holding her breath she aimed center mass and fired, like the others she hit, he was thrown back by the power of her rifle. “Rocket’ launcher down, switching targets.” She said.

With Maras fire now focused on the bigger targets, Zero and the others could worry about the lesser being down there. Swinging his rifle around the side of the bolder, he snapped the small 3x magnification scope up to see any heads creeping out of cover and squeezed off a shot. Three red-hot bolts streaked down the rocky hill and slammed into his targets head, reducing it to a charred mess that looked like a it may have once been a head.

“So Fi, What’s the body count up to now?” Zero asked as he swung back into cover, each kill brought them closer to getting out of this mess, and Zero was itching to give that slimy Hutt that sent them out here a piece of his mind. “All in all, I’d say 20-21.” Fi replied his armored head moving like he was counting off the numbers in his head. “20 to be safe then, so that leaves 40 more outside assuming they don’t get backup from the inside.” Zero said back. “Pretty much the case, Zeronen” Fi said, checking his weapons charge. “Fierfek! That damn Hutt is going to pay for this load of oisk even if I have to carve it out of him.”

Pressing her belly on the hot sand was an uncomfortable move on Estarra's part but she pushed the discomfort to the back of her mind. Instead trying to see what was going on in the not all that far distance. Some sort of battle, she presumed criminals the lot of them. Tatooine was filled with opposing criminal organizations. Though from this distance she really couldn't see anything much apart from little things moving that she guessed were the people and the explosions.

Reaching back she grabbed her electrobinoculars from the backpack and brought them in front of her eyes. For a moment her eyes had to adjust to the shading they provided from the twin suns, but before long she was zooming in on the battle as Vurk crawled to her side. She ignored the presence of the Noghri and instead focused on what she was seeing. Typical criminal thugs down below it seemed, but on higher ground seemed to be some well armored combatants. The kind of armor that both earned respect and fear.

"What do you see Esta?" Vurk asked gruffly, his own sight not good enough to see it all with detail without the use of the electrobinoculars.

"Crims," She murmured with a frown as she lowed the piece of equipment from her eyes and offered them to the Noghri. "Getting slaughtered by Mandalorians from the looks of it."

The Noghri's expression went deadly serious and he gave her a firm look. "We don't want to cross Mandalorians," From his tone he was not going to budge on this, and would probably drag Estarra away kicking and screaming if he had to.

Estarra sighed. "Well there goes all the fun," She glanced abruptly towards where a very stray blaster bolt had hit some few meters away from her. "I wasn't planning on interfering with the Mando's work, just watching."

Vurk gave her a hard look. "It's not safe Esta, being killed by a stray blaster bolt wouldn't be an honorable way to die."

As if to make his point clear another stray blaster bolt flew meters above their heads. Estarra sighed and then pushed herself backwards. "So we wait here until the firefight ends and then go around," She muttered as she got to her feet and began trying to get the sand on her belly off it. Vurk didn't say anything but instead moved further down the dune as if to prove a point. Annoyed she sat down on the dune, not at the top anymore but still on it, not willing to give up entirely.

These thugs were getting smarter, or only the more experienced ones were left standing Zero noted. They were now aiming for the armor color that they could see against the sandy backdrop clearly, namely the Black Armored warriors.

"Oh Fierfek!” Kote screamed as bolts started to wiz over her head. The same ting could be said for the other two Darkmunes, red hot bolts of plasma zipped over head and around them. “So, my dear Big Brother and Cousin” Kote started over the private lines, and Zero knew they were about to get an earful, “What have we learned from this engagement?” she asked as she blind fired over the top of her cover. Fi was quick to respond, always was in Zero’s opinion. “Never wear black armor in a sandy world?” he asked. Zero was next. “And never work for a slimy Hutt for that matter!” he said but he still had more to say, “now shut it you two.” He switched over to his teams comm. and stated his new plan of attack. ”Alright boys and girls, we have their attention, so lets’ capitalize on it. Kote, Fi, The three of us move down hill more and keep them firing at us. Rico, you’re coming to, if any of us are hit we’ll need you right there to patch us up again. Mara, Fordo, Jassmine and Alana, pick them off as you soon as you get them in your sights.” He ordered.

Zeronen didn’t have time to wait for confirmation as he jumped out of cover, sprinting as best eh could in a crouch as he moved from bolder to rocky outcrop, Firing away with his M.A.R. the whole way down till he was half way between his teams current location and the gates of his objective. Looking to his Left, he saw Kote slam herself hard into the shade of a rocky outcrop. To Zeros right, Fi and Rico took up position behind a series of boulders. Blaster bolts were still flying over head, but now they were focused on them and not over a wider area.

“Well Zeron’ika other then us drawing attention, what’s the plan?”
Kote asked, as she was peaking out of cover and delivered accurate fire into one thug’s chest. “What plan?” Zero said, he had every intention of just drawing fire till either every criminal ran out of the base to attack or turned tail and ran away. That was his plan, stay alive, kill criminals, and get paid. After that, get the hell off this dust bowl and get home! That was the plan.

Vurk was busy fiddling with something metallic and Estarra wasn't really interested in what it was. Instead she was trying to figure out what was going on with the battle beyond. Too bad she knew the Noghri could take her easily in a fight, or else she'd be up at the top of this stupid dune watching it. She sighed and unclipped the clothe on her face, allowing it to fall to one side. She knew her cheeks were pink, whether from the fact that she was hot or that they'd been burnt by the suns she wasn't really sure. They'd been covered most of the time but it wouldn't take long to burn.

Inside her bag she dug out the water and then realized why it had felt lighter than expected, which she hadn't given much thought until then. All her explosives were gone. For a moment she stared at the nearly empty backpack, dumbfounded and then raised her eyes to Vurk who seemed to have figured out his puzzle. He gave the metallic thing a firm squeeze and in the not too far distance something else exploded, this time from where they had come from and it was by no means just a simple grenade explosion.

Estarra jumped up to her feet in alarm. "What the frak was that?" She demanded as she stared into the distance, thinking she could now see the smoke from where the explosion had occurred though not certain it wasn't just a mirage.

"The speeder," Vurk responded casually, as if it didn't matter.

For a moment she just stared at him, before she exploded. "Are you frakking insane Vurk?! We needed that! I needed that!" She marched down the dune, glaring at him. "How are we going to get to a spaceport now you nerf herder?"

Vurk scowled at her. "I am terminating my employment here, and thus our contract."

It took a second for the information to click in her head, a second for her senses to spike and then she was running back up the dune. No way was she going to be forced to take the Noghri on, she'd sooner risk getting blasted by a Mando. So she ran over the top of the dune, stumbled and fell, rolling down to the bottom of it, knocking the wind out of her. Good news was the Noghri didn't follow, bad news was she was now putting herself in a very dangerous and awkward spot.

With Zero Fi, Kote and Rico busy hear the bottom of the hill, their attention was not on their flanks, But Jassmine Ordo was, and she saw something out of the corner of her eye. “What they hell?” he asked herself and raiser her rifle to get better eyes on the movement she saw. “Zero, Something wrong here.” She informed, a bit worried as to what she saw. “what is it Jass?” he asked, firing over his head. He didn’t need a distraction right now, but if it was important, he had to know. “Humanoid rolling down the dune 25 meter to the east of your position.” she said, still not firing on the person, not till it presented a threat. More movement near the ridge caught her eye up, movement once was odd, twice was bad. She quickly aimed high and fired over the head of whatever was about to start down after the first person. “Marking their location, check your H.U.D. Alorir.” She stated, and undated the teams displays from her helmets HUD.

Zero looked over, as a female figure came to a stop roughly 25 meters from him. “Cover me.” He ordered, and made a sprinting dash for the woman, he didn’t know if she were hear to help, stop them or just stumbled a pone them, either way, he needed to know what was going on. Blaster bolts came close to hitting his helmeted head as he ran, but his teams’ combined firepower kept a lot of heads down as he raced the 25 meters to the woman. The last meter he slid to her, putting his armored bulk between her and a few incoming bolts. Most of them missed, but two slammed into his armored shoulder, they burnt but his thick Beskar’gam took the brunt of it. From this close, zero could tell she wasn’t like these guys they were fighting, so that marked her as Civilian in his mind. “Hey lady.” He said through the external spearker of his armor, the effect made him sound almost mechanical under that armor, if only that were true. “Get to cover before you get hurt.” He said.

From his location, Fordo fired at the dust between them and the thugs, creating a smoke screen to hide the two from the criminals firing at them.

When she finally stopped rolling and found herself face first in the sand she gasped, taking in sand and choking on it and the fact that the face clothe had wrapped itself around her neck. Choking and gasping for air her fingers urgently pried the clothe loose and rubbed her neck out of the residual feeling. Her eyes cast quickly up the slope to make sure Vurk was no where to be seen. He wouldn't want to risk his life and Mandos were dangerous, but now Estarra was risking her life!

Something suddenly slid to her side and she pushed herself away, alarmed. Seeing as how she was still on her knees she didn't go far, just falling back onto her side and staring at the black armored being that was now positioned in front of her. His voice sounded metallic and totally not friendly, but she presumed it was both the situation and the speakers mixed. At least she hoped so, well she wasn't getting shot or beaten to death which was a plus right now. But why was it wherever she ended up people were bossing her around?

Estarra glanced around and then frowned at the black clad warrior. "Oh yeah, sure. Just point out some dang cover around here." She retorted sarcastically. Tatooine, sand and more sand, unless she hiked back up the dune, which wasn't on her to-do list with the Noghri undoubtedly still there. Her hand went for her blaster but paused quickly to look the warrior in the eyes, or where she guessed they were. "I can take care of myself sir, but I'd rather not take on Mandos so if you could not blast me, I won't try and blast you. Fair?"

Zeronene watched as she reached for her blaster, in reaction, his grip tightened on his own rifle. He readied himself to slam it into her if he needed to, at least till she started talking again.

“Fair enough” he said, and watched as more bolts zipped over their heads. They really needed move, and now! Looking around quickly he spotted a bolder, large enough he noted. “Boulder three meters south east,” he commented, “You go first. I’ll hold their fire then meet you there.” He said before rolling away. Lying prone to steady his rifle, he fired through the clearing dust picking off the closet targets to give her time to get to relative safety. Not an easy task with burns in his firing arms shoulder, but he worked through the pain.

Over head two different firing arcs rained deadly bolts in return. There wasn’t that many left outside, but they were all behind hard cover. “Zero, I saw you take a few hits. You okay?” Rico asked, he knew zero had been hit with worse but still two bolts to the shoulder was bad. “I’ll live, Rico, I just need a shot of Bacta from my First aide kit.” Zero said over the comm.

Mandos, all freaking business and instructions. Estarra frowned at the boulder he mentioned, considered protesting and then bit her tongue. Useless to protest against a Mandalorian no doubt, she glanced at him as he rolled and opened fire to keep the focus on himself rather than her. Was that noble? She really wasn't used to thinking of Mandos in a good light but it was possible they weren't too bad. At least from this angle she got a glimpse of the burned holes in his armor, holes on the back of his shoulder which told her it had happened when he'd put himself in front of her. A wave of guilt and sympathy.

Pushing herself to her feet she ran for the boulder. Light on the sand now that she was running properly, and she wasn't a heavy person nor wearing any armor to speak of. Because of the kind of dust screen they'd put up and the black clad Mando shooting to gain the attention she didn't get shot on her way to the boulder, dashing behind it and gasping for breath. Stupidly hot planet. She grabbed out her water and took a quick drink before trying to steady her breathing. Nothing like a firefight to get in the middle of in order to get that adrenaline pumping.
