It was the first day back on campus for Natalie. After a long summer, she was ready to get settled back in at East Bay. She had arrived on campus early that day to move in all of her boxes. She only removed the essentials from the boxes on the first day; as it was only Friday, and class didn't start until Monday. After her minimal unpacking, none of her roommates had arrived yet. Natalie decided it was time to explore. after knocking on several doors in her hall, finding that none her friends had arrived, she decided to try the mens dorm. technically speaking, girls weren't supposed to be in Wesley Hall, but the desk attendant had grown accoustomed to her, and after four years, was tired of chasing her around asking her to leave. they had a mutual agreement, as long as she didnt cause any trouble, she could come and go as she pleased. Upon leaving Riley's cool halls, Natalie encountered a familiar scene; a beautiful, warm sunny day, with kids and their families carrying boxes to the dorm buildings. Riley Hall was on the east side of a large courtyard, with Wesley, the boys dorm, on the west side of the plaza, and the staff housing to the South. Natalie followed the wide brick sidewalk around the fountain at the center of the courtyard until she reached the stone steps of Wesley and the glass doors into the building, giving a quick wave to the man at the desk. Walking down the first floor hallway, Natalie read the name plates to the right of the door until she found the room with her friend Paul's name, and knocked. She waited, reading the other name plates, recognizing all but one name. Edited by Natalie Porter, May 2 2009, 06:05 PM.

Erik finished unpacking one of his many boxes of books. Running his finger along the spines to make sure they were in the proper order, he broke down the box and stored it behind the bookshelf. "Two down, two to go." He smiled as he picked up the next box and slid the scissors along the tape to open it. Erik had moved in a few days ago, but was just now getting to the unpacking of his long-term personal effects, such as the majority of his clothes and his books. His laptop had been up and running for those days, a piece of equipment Erik was almost rarely without, and the other larger features he'd already had set up on his side of the shared room. His roommate had claimed one side, seemingly weeks ago from the disaster that it was, so Erik was slowly moving into his closet, taking caution and care to be orderly and organized, as per usual. Erik's roommate had disappeared for the day already, though he had no idea where to. Classes didn't start until Monday, and as far as Erik knew of the place (which isn't a whole lot) he didn't think there was anything to do yet. But what was he, the new foreigner, to know. And that was why he was a little startled by the knock on the door. He hadn't seen the other two guys yet, the other room was still empty of belongings, and his roommate had told him he wouldn't be around at all that day. A little smile broke on Erik's lips. He had met very few people yet, and so was hoping another one of his roommates would show up, someone to talk to and learn from. Alas, that was not to be the case. He opened the door straight away, and froze as he saw the figure of a female on their doorstep. Instantly blushing, Erik glanced down at the ground and caught sight of his own body. Which was shirtless. As he had one load of clothes in the wash down the hall, and the rest of his things had yet to be unpacked, Erik had forgone a shirt for the time being. Now, however, he was quickly regretting that decision. He bit his lip as he looked back up and met the girl's eyes. "Hello. Can I help you with something?" His eyes darted up and down the hall, checking to see if anyone was around to encounter what he assumed to be the first of many embarrassments as the new kid. |

Natalie stood at the door, waiting to see who would would answer the door. She looked again at the name plate next to the door. It listed three names she knew, and one she didn't. One was her brother's name, who she was hoping had arrived on campus and was hoping to talk to, and the other two were friends of his that had been his roommates since their sophomore year. Natalie hadn't talked to her brother Nathan since she left home two months ago, after a huge fight with their father. When the door opened, Natalie's jaw dropped instinctually. In front of her stood a gorgeous, shirtless, and clearly foreign guy, who must have been the third name, 'E. Kiefer'. "uhh..." Natalie started, shifting from a state of shock back to her normal self. "I'm looking for Nate, is he here yet?" After asking, she realized she could have called Nate and easily found out if he had arrived... but then she wouldn't have met her brother's attractive new roommate. Natalie couldn't help but stare at 'E. Keifer's' bare chest, and his overall attractiveness, and wondered why he seemed so timid. She watched him scan the hallway on either side of her, and she giggled. "yea, technically i'm not supposed to be here, but don't worry about it" she teased, "Hi, i'm Natalie, Nathan's sister". |

She was looking for Nathan, his roommate. Her brother. He gave a mental shrug to her appearance in the male dorms; her answer explained away any hesitations. Well, except for his nerves at being caught half undressed...and by a very attractive girl, at that. He opened the door a little wider, and held his arm out, inviting her in. "No, he's not here. He said he was going to be out for the day. He didn't tell me where, but I did overhear him on the phone with someone. He said something about practicing in the gym, and then going into the city to do some research. I'm not quite sure for what....but he did tell me he wasn't going to be back until late." Erik gave a shrug and walked into the dorm towards his room. Time to find a shirt, or else scare the young lady away, he was sure of it. "Uh, if you wanted to leave him a note....he's in here with me." He grabbed the notebook and pen off his desk, almost shoving them into her hands, his movements slightly jerky as his nerves took hold. "Um, excuse me." He turned his back on her and ducked to the side of his bed where he'd set one of his clothing duffels. He grabbed the first shirt he could find, a t-shirt sporting the proud news of 'Harrow Cricket Bowler' and hastily shoved his body into it. He stood and turned back to Natalie, a lovely name he decided, a somewhat doofy grin on his lips. "Sorry about that....forgot....load in the wash.... Not...unpacked..." He trailed off, his head ducking to stare at his bare feet again. |

Natalie watched 'E. Kiefer' move out of the doorway and invite her in, as he told her that Nathan wasn't in the room today. Natalie wasn't surprised, as Nathan was in a ton of sports, clubs, and study groups. to As he walked towards his room, he explained the reasoning for his beautiful bare chest, "dont worry about it, i've got no complaints" she teased. Natalie was known for her straightforwardness, she wasnt afraid to say what she thought, and she was loving the view. While he dressed, Natalie thought to check to see if Nathan's things were in the other room and to leave him a note, but upon reaching the door, she didnt see Nathan's things, and realized the other guys hadn't arrived yet, which didn't surprise her. She headed back over towards the other room, and knocked on the door frame so she didnt startle the boy within, which was now covered, to Natalie's slight disappointment. "So, you must be new here, right? I dont think i've ever seen you around, and i think i know almost everyone in our year." She looked around the room, noticing the dichotomy of the two sides. E's side was clean and organized, while on the opposite side, she recognized the poster on the wall of a scantily clad model on the hood of a red sports car, which she knew to be Pauls. "Ohh... so you're rooming with Paul then, huh?" she asked, pointing at the poster, "he's not exactly the cleanest guy in the world, or the most subtle..." she paused as something occurred to her, "which also means Nathan isnt here yet, and paul's the one in the gym..." Natalie walked over and plopped down on Paul's messy bed, pushing a pile of clothes out of her way. Natalie and Nathan were quite close, which meant she was also close with his friends, and she knew Paul wouldn't mind. 'So, where are you from then?" she asked, "That's one hell of an accent, British im guessing?" Edited by Natalie Porter, May 11 2009, 04:13 PM.

Another flush crawled up his cheeks at her blase compliment. Erik wasn't used to such straight-forward people, and had forgotten that that was a major trait the world claimed Americans had. He watched her cross the hallway, looking for her brother's things, and shifted the two boxes of books he still hadn't unpacked to the floor on the opposite side of the bed. Straightening his laptop and minutely adjusting things on his desk, a habit of his when his nerves were getting to him, he gave a little start when Natalie spoke and her voice was right behind him. He watched her sit, letting his eyes roam over her figure, taking it all in with no lack of pleasure. Realizing he was ogling, Erik glanced around the room, another blush on his cheeks for such blatant staring. "Yes. I'm new here....new to the country, as a matter of fact. Which you can obviously spot....the accent and all" He shot her a quick, lopsided smile. She was very astute. But he did know his accent would stand out in this country, and as a female, he'd been told, his accent was a very desirable thing. Unsure if that were true fact with this creature, he answered her question. "Yeah, I'm from England. Grew up in Exeter, but the past five years of my life have been in London, at Harrow." He gestured at his torso. "Again, obvious to spot." Another grin, this one of minor nerves, slipped onto his lips, and stayed there. "Yeah...Paul's quite something. Only really met him yesterday, though I've been here a couple days. We met briefly my first day here, when he showed me where I was to sleep, but I didn't really get to talk to him. Seems like a busy guy." He gave a little shrug, and changed topics, since he didn't have anything more to expound upon his roommate. "But what about yourself? I take it you've been in the area for a while, if you know everyone at the school." Erik gave a mental sigh and sat down on the edge of his bed, facing her. His half of the conversation had to have been one of the longest he'd made to a stranger. Since he was typically more of the quiet type, except when discussing literature or when he was playing cricket or fencing, Erik wasn't given to great monologues or speeches. Having nearly exhausted himself with that discussion, he turned the tables so Natalie could speak. |

Natalie felt his eyes on her as she looked around the room, and attempted to not make eye contact, as it would inevitably end awkwardly. Natalie could tell a lot of things about E from his things. He was obviously very organized and meticulous, a sign of dedication and responsibility. She also saw a few photos of what she assumed to be his family, which meant he must be close to them, and quite confident in himself if he left such things out in the open with three other roommates without fear of criticism. Once she heard that E had recently come from England, she grew even more interested, if that was even possible. Natalie had spent time in London with her father and Nathan on business trips, and was always fascinated with the feeling of being surrounded with such a vast history, something one did not feel while in a major American city. She listened to his brief background intently, enjoying how his accent flowed. Natalie was like every other american woman, she loved an accent. "man, that accent... you are going to be veeeerrrry popular around here..." she chuckled, she was sure he had heard this a thousand time, but it didnt make it less true. She laughed at E's assessment of Paul. "he's quite a character, you probably wont see much of him at all, and if you were embarrassed with me showing up at the door, you may want to switch and room with Nathan... Paul's know for his... lets say... he has a reputation with the girls here, and the local schools, and quite possibly their mothers, but we think that may be just a rumor" she giggled. She was sure the part about the mothers was false. "But dont let that scare you, he is a great guy... just really likes the ladies!" she ended with a shrug and laugh. Then E asked about her, which was usually an awkward subject for her, she wasn't one to talk about herself very often. "Well, this will be my fourth year here. I dont really know where i would call 'home', our family has moved a lot, and we've never really stayed in one place long, but i always end up back here for school." Saying her family moved a lot was almost an understatement. Her father was a politician, so wherever his campaigns, or offices took him, the family followed. "Dad's a politician, and mom died when we were young, so Nate and i followed his work. did i mention nate and i are twins?" she always finished with that. For some reason, people were mystified by the idea of twins, and with the night and day difference in their behaviors, most people would never believe it. Nate was a straight-laced, quiet, and very involved person, whereas Natalie was much more easygoing, and enjoyed having fun, whether within the rules or not. Sitting on the bed, Natalie pulled her phone out of her pocket, and tapped her way through the menus, then typing out 'when will you be here'. She tapped through still more menus, until she found 'Nathan' in her contacts, but before she clicked send, she looked up at E, and something occurred to her. Natalie looked back down, pressing the red 'end' button and clicked a small icon on the phone, 'Silent'. Natalie looked back up at E, suggesting in a slightly suggestive tone "hey... would you like to grab lunch? Maybe i can show ya around a little bit?" Edited by Natalie Porter, May 12 2009, 10:16 PM.

Erik listened intently, appropriately nodding and blushing as he normally did. He normally liked listening to people and their backstory's, and though Natalie seemed a little uncomfortable, a sign he could spot from her regular and blase tone, as if those were the lines she was just in the habit of saying and had no real affection for anymore, Erik enjoyed listening to her nonetheless. He also appreciated looking at her, but was diverting his eyes more often than not, lest he appear crazy or too bizarre with his glances. "Ah. Well...I think I can put up with him....you'd think an independent school would be quite stuck up....but some of the boys I roomed with were quite roguish and all about the conquest. If you, uh, know what I mean." He bit his lip, unsure if she'd even understand what he was talking about. He saw her pull out her phone and stood up, walking about the room a little and straightening things up again. He assumed this would be the end of the conversation and their time together. A little sad, since he was starting to vastly enjoy her company, Erik gave a mental shrug. He wasn't the most engaging person and she was obviously still looking for her brother. She would have plans and he could go about unpacking and staying hidden away. He turned in surprise, however, when she voiced an opinion for lunch and a tour. A beaming smile broke unbidden onto his lips, and Erik nodded, hoping that he wasn't appearing too giddy and over-zealous about the idea. "That sounds wonderful. It'd be nice to have a bit of a go-around. And nice to get to know someone here. It's a little tricky, being so new somewhere. I guess I know how you feel, having to move all the time." He gave a little shrug and grabbed his wallet and cigarettes off his desk, sliding them into his pockets, he turned back to Natalie, a quick glance at himself to make sure all was in order. "Shall we?" |

Natalie stood up, shoving her phone back into her jeans pocket as E grabbed his things. She already had everything she needed, as she rarely went anywhere without her wallet; and her zipup hoodie would be sufficient if they were gone most of the afternoon. Walking out of E's room towards the front door, she started to tell him "campus really isnt hard to get around, im sure you'll catch on quickly, and as i said, with that accent, you wont be short on... well... at least female friends. I cant wait to see paul's face when he realizes he isnt the hottest thing on campus anymore" she instantly wished she didnt say that last part, the last thing she wanted him to think was that she was only here for his looks. She walked out into the hallway to avoid him seeing her blush, and waited for him to lock up and join her. once he joined her, she started walking towards the building's entrance. "So, food first, or tour?" she asked. When they walked by the desk at the front of the building, she turned and waved at the attendant, earning a sarcastic "Didnt take ya long, eh?" from the young man, which she shrugged off. Once outside in the glass doors of the dorm, she explained "the girls dorm is straight across the plaza, and the building over there is the faculty housing. Technically there opposite sexes aren't allowed in the dorms, but they are DEFINITELY not allowed in the faculty housing" she pointed out the buildings as she spoke. She figured she would give him the 'student tour', narrating campus as the students knew it, rather than what the school guides provided. "That fountain there is commonly used as a pool by the drunk students on the weekends" she explained, something she knew from experience, "and over there are the 'smoking area' as they call it" pointing to a small parcels of land between Riley Hall and the staff building, and between Wesley and the staff building. Erik himself blushed at her compliments, and kept his head down as he went about locking up. They walked past the front desk and Erik gave a small wave to the man there who had been helpful in finding Erik his room and telling him the rules and regulations of the dorms. He raised his arm to point and question what the man meant by his comment, then shrugged and dropped his arm, figuring it was better not to ask. It tended to be better not to ask, especially when it came to contests and conquests, which Erik assumed was what the man was referring to. He gave a sideways look at Natalie, the question in his eyes, but then focused his attention ahead of him as they left the building and started out, avoiding the question and the awkward answer that was bound to respond. Inhaling deeply, Erik took in the fresh scents and sights of the land, the hints of the autumn that was coming, and the ruckus of students moving in, with a multitude of parents and children to help. He smiled fondly as he watched one particular family, which included a younger sister, whose brother was affectionately rumbling her hair. Smiling in memory of his Emily, Erik nodded as they walked by. As Natalie started naming places and their appropriate uses, Erik smiled again. "Apparently it's the tour first then," he teased her. He gave a shrug. "Which I'm fine with. It's lovely here, and a glorious day outside. I wish I was more confident about learning a new place on my own...I would've spent my morning outside as well." He gave a look at his guide, a charming smile on his eager face. "Though I can't say I regret having waited." Though he ruined the effect of the compliment by ducking his head and running a hand through his hair. Edited by Erik Kiefer, May 12 2009, 11:31 PM.

She giggled, "Tour it is then. Sorry, i tend to call things as i see them." She started them on a path down the old brick sidewalk, not knowing how to respond to his quasi-compliment, "I was shy when i first got here too, didn't know anyone but Nate. But, the people here are very nice, and are always willing to help, and campus isnt too complex to begin with, im sure you'll adjust quite quicky, especially with a guide like me! i happen to know this school very well, thanks to my trial-and-error methods and tendency of breaking rules." she explained in a half-joking tone. As they walked past what seemed like hundreds of students and their families, Natalie narrated the numerous class-buildings and the subjects they housed, as well as 'landmarks' across campus, including little gardens, the building that housed the student and faculty lounges, the fitness center and the main office building. While walking along the sidewalk past a large, grassy area towards the library and dining hall, Natalie decided to try and strike up conversation once again. "So if you were at your school for five years, why did you come here? wouldn't it have been easier to stay until your graduated?" she asked. She knew that european schools were structured much different from american schools, but had never really grasped how they worked; it seemed as if it was different in every country. |

"I tend to be a quick study," he remarked with a humble smile. "And now that we're walking, it does seem easier than I had first imagined. I guess it's that I'm still a bit overwhelmed by the fact that I'm not home anymore. Everything's happened so quickly." He feel into silence then, listening to her narration and taking in everything, mentally labeling the map he'd been given with his 'Introduction to East Bay Academy' packet. Then it was Erik's turn to answer the questions, which was only fair. He'd had a few to ask about campus and Natalie herself had already told him her story. Now he had to share his. "Well, my father works in the British film industry, a Director of Photography. He was offered some work here, and I've always wanted to travel, especially here to America. So I came with him. As I was a little ahead in my sixth form, and though I was planning on taking A-levels, Mother was fine with my traveling, and even encouraged it, though she did want me to finish one year here, for the experience. I can't argue with her, not very well in any case, so that's primarily why I'm here," he stated with a chuckle. "Though it was a little hard to leave. My sister and I are very close, and I was worried to leave her alone for the next year or two. But she's a strong girl. She really can handle herself without me. Though it galls me to admit that." Again, a chuckle and smile at his male pride. Thinking back over his monologue, not as embarrassed as before about orating. He was obviously becoming quite used to Natalie's company if he was already speaking so much. But as he thought back over, he frowned a bit. American schools were different than in England. He looked over at her with a lopsided smile on his lips. "Did that even make sense? What I was saying about my school? I know American schools are different...I'm not sure if you've studied up on English ones..." Though he frowned again when he thought of how that could sound somewhat belittling to this bright girl who it seemed knew quite a lot. |

Natalie listened to E's story intently, even if it was a little hard to understand. She took this 'sixth form' to be like the American 'grade', which made the 'a-levels' something similar to the American ACT or SAT, which she had taken the previous spring.Once he reached the end of this explanation, he asked Natalie if she understood, "Wow, having your dad in the movie industry must be awesome! Well, i catch on quite quickly also, and i think i managed to figure it out. Must suck to have to go through so much schooling, and from what i hear, your schooling is MUCH harder than ours... " She found something charming about his desire to protect his younger sister, and wondered if Nate felt the same way towards her. They were very close, growing up as twins, but they disagreed and fought a lot too. Nate id always worried about following rules and doing things perfect, Natalie just wanted to have fun, and worried about consequences later. His family also seemed very close, which she had always wished hers was. When they reached the dining hall, Natalie led E into the building. "Are you familiar with how our cafeteria works around here?" she asked, pulling her thin wallet out of the back pocket of her pants, and removed her student ID card, which served as their meal card as well. "what do you have a taste for? there's a place for american favorites, a salad bar, an asian place, a european place, and a few others" she said, pointing around the dining hall, which resembled the food court at the nearby mall, with all of the food counters sitting on either side of the dining area, filled with tables and chairs, and also a small outdoor patio on the opposite end of the hall for nice days. |

He smiled gently and nodded absently to her comments on the schooling systems. He still had much to learn about the American ways, though he knew they were quite vastly different than his rather stuffy British ways. Reaching into his back pocket for his wallet, Erik pulled out the card that had been given to him a few days before. He glanced at it, idly thumbing the school's logo, and lastly his thumb slipping into place over the picture of himself in the corner, hiding the little snapshot from sight. He'd been a little shocked when the secretary had told him to stand across the way and look at the black box she'd placed herself behind. Not knowing what was happening, Erik stood there, a rather doofy look of confusion on his face. Then the quick flash, causing him to flinch, and the ordeal was done. When she'd handed him the card however, to his horror, he saw that he was to be stuck with that awkward face for the rest of the year. Sighing and bringing himself out of his reverie, Erik flipped the card over, rubbing this thumb over the black strip across the back. He looked about as Natalie pointed out places to eat. He looked sideways at her, once again ducking his head before he could truly start staring and then followed the line of her arm and fingers. "Well. I'm still new here...and I don't really know American food, that's where I'll go then. I should get to know the tastes I've gotten myself into." He gave a little shrug and chuckle, then turned in that direction. Turning once more and taking a few steps backward, he flashed a crooked grin at his companion. "If you're not too sick of your own fare, would you care to join me?" |

Natalie attempted to steal a quick glance of E's school ID, maybe to catch his name, or a glimpse of his photo, but he was quick to cover information on the card, then flipped the card over, ruining her chances. She let out a mental sigh, and continued on. She couldn't blame him for covering the card, she knew the secretary that took the photos for student IDs, and the old woman was incapable of capturing a good photo of any student. "that sounds fine with me. I'm one girl you will never see turn down a cheeseburger and fries" she teased, leading him towards the counter they wanted. She read over the menu quickly, to check and see if it had changed from the previous year, which it hadnt. "Do you recognize the stuff on here?" she asked, wondering if she needed to explain any of the meal options to E. "these are the normal american meals; cheeseburgers, chili dogs, pizza, sub sandwiches, hot pretzels, fried chicken, a small steak, lotsa stuff, im sure you know most of it" she rambled as she reviewed part of the menu, wondering what she had a taste for. she reached the bottom of the plastic menu board that hung over the young sophomore girl from the school. Many of the students who's families couldn't afford all of tuition worked in the cafeteria to help pay for school, and none of the other students ever looked down on them for it. "so.... what will it be?" she asked, still debating between two or three things |

Erik nodded to the girl behind the counter, giving her a small smile at the same time. He watched a small flush stain her cheeks and then glanced away himself, hiding the flames he felt tickle his flesh. He looked up at the menu, his eyes skimming the words. He looked to the counter, where a display held a few of the items on the list. Everything looked rather greasy, which only seemed to make it that much more appealing. His British senses reeling slightly at the opportunity before him, Erik nodded to Natalie. "I think I know what I'd like. A piece of pizza I think...and those breadsticks there." He gestured to the breadsticks, two settled into a white paper bag, BOSCOE labeled on the paper. "That looks like a decidedly American meal. Oh, and a soft drink as well." He flashed a brighter smile to the girl behind the counter, charmed by her youth. He held out his card, a quizzical expression quirking his eyebrows. "What exactly do I do with this?" |

Natalie watched as E ordered his lunch. Seeing Evalynn (the girl behind the counter, a small sophomore girl) blush as E spoke to her was quite comical, and she wondered how long E would be surprised by this reaction. "just hand her your card" she informed him, "she'll scan it, and give it back, and thats it". She waited for the girl to scan his card, and give him his meal before stepping forward to order her own lunch. She ordered quickly, not wanting to make E wait long. Once the girl gave her the tray with the sandwich and bottle of water, she turned towards the little condiment stand, grabbing a napkin and straw and began to scope out a seat for the two of them. "where to?" she asked, "there's a patio outside, or a table in here?" |

"Oh, outside, I think. It's a beautiful day." He flashed her a grin and followed her out to the tables. He waited until Natalie sat, before settling himself on a chair. Looking down on his plate, he wiggled his fingers, trying to decide whether to try the pizza or the bread sticks first. Settling on the bread, Erik picked up a stick and then looked up at Natalie before taking a bite. "So. Natalie." He paused and smiled. "Natalie....beautiful name. I wonder what it means....I love finding out name meanings. Take me. I'm Erik, the Honorable King...or Ruler....depending on who's asking." With a self-depricating smile, he bit into the Boscoe stick. "Ah! There's cheese in it!! I was not ready for that...at all." He said as he chuckled at himself. "It's so good, too! Even better than I was expecting...." |

Natalie headed towards the door leading to the patio outside the cafeteria. Most of the small tables were empty, as most students chose to sit inside in the air conditioning. Natalie sat down at the nearest little wooden table she came to, across from. She grabbed one half of her grilled cheese sandwich and took a bite, while watching E ponder as to what he would eat first. "So it's Erik then? Gotcha. Just figured i would call ya E. Kiefer forever, but i guess Erik is a bit simpler" she joked, "Thanks, but i don't think it means too much, I think it's something to do with Christmas, which doesn't make too much sense. Think mom probably picked it as a cutesy twin name thing... better than Jack and Jill, or something cheesy like that i guess". She almost choked on a piece of her grilled cheese at Erik's discovery of the melted mozzarella inside his breadstick. She couldn't hold back her laughter. "Heh, good huh? you'll prolly LOVE a philly cheese steak sandwich, and chilli dogs!" During the duration of the small meal, Natalie restrained herself from asking E if he had a girlfriend, (as she would have asked any other guy 5 minutes into conversation) but she didnt want to come on too strong. To try and distract herself from such thoughts, she decided to talk about school. "So, which classes do you have this semester? anything you're looking forward to?" |

"Hm...Christmas..." A wistful look crossed his eyes. "It'll be strange this year...not being with the family. But," he flicked a low glance across the table to the girl, "I think I'll be in excellent company this year." Then on a second thought, Erik looked up quickly, while slowly lowering the bread stick he'd about to take another bite out of. "E. Kiefer? You didn't know my name...." His eyelids flickered for a moment and then he remembered. He looked up again, nerves and anger at himself crossing his face. "I never introduced myself? How stupid of me....Please, forgive my manners. I guess all I can say is that I was distracted by a lovely lady when I opened my door and forgot anything else." He gave a cheeky grin before he ducked his head, his cheeks flaming in embarrassment. Did I really just say that? Out loud!? Where did it come from? He blinked rapidly before sucking on his soda a bit, trying to distract himself. "Sorry...I don't normally...I'm usually not an open and up front person....please, forgive my rash speech...." And feeling like an even bigger idiot for trying to take back what he had said, which he'd stated in perfect honesty, Erik shoved the rest of the bread stick into his mouth in order to stop up his lips. |
