Basically, these will be the rules I have created for the game.

Rules are a bit of a work in progress, as the admin team thinks of more rules, they are created.

Claims:
Claiming goes as follows, one player gets up to three (you an have less) American states or Canadian provinces (Puerto Rico, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, the District of Columbia, and the Northern Marinas Islands are, for game purposes considered "states") . The only rule is that they have to be at least slightly contiguous (you can have Florida, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands which, in my opinion would make a good tourism nation or Ontario, Wisconsin, and Illinois.)

If you do not want to go the "post USA/Canada" route, you can pick an actual nation. This can be a post-Russian Federation nation that has been created or a nation that exists today. For that, you can only get one.

Remember that your nation's history, really all that matters is what happened from 2008-2012, has to be approved by the mod team and needs to work in the facts from the timeline.

A proper claim should look like this:

Code:

[b]Nation Name:[/b]
[b]Brief Overview on Nation:[/b]
[b]Territory(ies) claimed:[/b]
[b]Nickname (Nationstates name is preferable):[/b]
[b]Ruler:[/b]
[b]]Form of Government:[/b]
[b]Current Political Ideology:[/b]
[b]Did you read the rules?:[/b]
[b]Any notes?:[/b]

Realism:
Realism is one of the core tenets of this game. You re flexible in making your nation, but all of the people were from free countries, so maybe outlawing religion/mandating a state religion or abolishing freedom of speech or of the press is not a good idea.

The International Herald Tribune:
The IHT, based in Paris, I the main source of news and events pertaining to the world. There, admin created events will be created and will affect one or many nations. These events will add vitality and jazz to this RP. If a story includes you, you have to post an IC response to it.

International Law:
The way international law works out is this: if your country signed it, they are still part of it. I am regarding all of you little nations as successors to the United States of America, Canada, and Russia. This means that if you signed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Non-Proliferation Treaty, your country has signed and ratified that bit too, all free trade agreements and alliances for your nation are considered void, though.

The United Nations:
The United Nations still exists, and, after riots in New York in 2010, they took control of all of New York City and all of Long Island and is currently under the jurisdiction of the United Nations Interim Mission in New York (UNIMNY). Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon is the current governor of New York and Long Island.

The United States, Canada, and the Russian Federation still have their seats on the United Nations, as they have not been successfully removed from the body. As a result, any nation that came from the Russian Federation, Canada, or the US would have to do a Republic of China-People's Republic of China switcheroo in the General Asembly. Remember that the issue of the US and Russian Security Council seat will have to be resolved.

South Carolina:
In 2010, as riots were in quote a few parts of America, South Carolina was also hit by a period of anarchy caused by the US's collapse and Hurricane Blanche caused a European Union peacekeeping mission, EUFOR South Carolina, to be sent into South Carolina for humanitarian aid, gaining stability, and to create a safeguard for refugees fleeing from the rest of the United States. This mission was legalized by the Security Council, with the blanket mission named the United Nation Interim Force in South Carolina (UNIFSC). What was left of NATO also joined into the mission, where non-EU European nations created the International Security Force (ISF).

However, most of the governance is left up to the European Union personnel and the state is a "de facto" European Union protectorate. All South Carolina missions are scheduled to end on December 31, 2025.

If you claim South Carolina, then you have to realize that there is a large foreign military presence in that part, although your nation maintains its own foreign policy, similar to how the USA is IRL in Iraq.

NATO:
When Canada and the United States collapsed, many Europeans wondered about the use of NATO, but its support was regained when Russia also collapsed, another body for regional security. With the end of Russian pressure and a "common feeling" in Europe, the Ukraine, Albania, Serbia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Finland have all joined NATO.

If a former US/Canada nation wants to join NATO, their UN membership would have to come first.

Remember this: to confirm that you claimed a nation, say "I love Cunningham Muffins!" in the "Did you read the rules?" section.
