Career Opportunities within the ESPers

So, you want to work for the Enforcers of the Shadow Paradigm. Maybe you're a denizen of the otherworlds, or a freshly transformed vampire, wraith, or shifter. Maybe you're just a human who has seen too much to go back to your old bean counting job. In any case, there are always plenty of openings within the ESPers. Please select an occupation from the list below.

Also, player characters that fill the following positions will be listed here in gold, so we don't have fifty people trying to be in Rift Management or whatever. :) If you see a position with "open" listed next to it, you can put it on your character sheet. All positions are subject to approval by the Director.

~*~

Director
The mysterious head of the ESPers. Only seen by administrators, and by his personal staff. They are under strict instructions not to reveal any information about the Director to anybody. This position is filled.

Administrator
For every department, there is an administrator. This person oversees the operations of their department, handles problems that the supervisors bring to them, and submit regular reports to the Director himself.

The departments and their administrators:
-Magic: open
-Psionics: open
-Rift Management: open
-Hunters: open
-Registration: Cait Burek, Cherubim, NPC
-Embassy: Denise Masters, Dragon, NPC
-Public Relations: Leopold Conway, Half-Sidhe, NPC
-Internal Affairs: open

Supervisor
Most departments are split into teams or sub-departments, and each of these smaller teams is led by a supervisor. The supervisors handle their team members and report to the department administrator. See the entries below for further information. There is usually one supervisor per italicized entry.

Rift Manager
One who deals with rift activity.
-Monitoring: open
Around the clock, the Rift Monitors keep an eye on equipment that shows who and what is passing through the known rifts, and equipment that lets them know when a new rift has opened.
-Closing: open
The field teams of Rift Closers use a combination of magic and technology to seal rifts that appear in inconvenient places (like the middle of an elementary school, for example). This job is sometimes dangerous, because you never know what's going to come through that rift while you're closing it!

Rift Managers:
-Basil Ford, Aeon

Magic Specialist
One who deals with magic use in the human world.
-Monitoring: open
Around the clock, Magic Monitors check equipment that monitors magical activity in various parts of the country. They send out Hunters if there appears to be something using far too much magic near populated areas.
-Distribution: Kasen Hall, Swanwere, NPC
This sub-department handles distribution of magical devices, spell components, and so forth within the ESPers. Hunters often stock up here before dealing with certain creatures.
-Experimental: open
The Experimental Magicians are mostly comprised of wizards who research and develop new spells and devices for use by the ESPers.

Magic Specialists: open

Psionic Specialist
One who deals with psychic activity.
-Monitoring: open
Though not as heavily monitored as the rifts or magic, there is technology to monitor unusual psychic activity in the area. If there's a spike in activity somewhere, sometimes a field agent is sent to check it out, but not always.
-Distribution: open
This sub-department deals with the distribution of psionic monitoring, detecting, and dampening technology. They don't see a lot of action, but sometimes their devices are needed.
-Experimental: open
Several powerful psychics are employed by the ESPers, and they are charged with testing the limits of certain psionic abilities and recording the results. Not as potentially explosive as the experimental magics department, unless dealing with pyrokinetics.

Psionic Specialists:
-open

Enforcer/Hunter
There are three teams of hunters in the main ESPers headquarters, and each team always has at least three members. Their job is to capture or destroy otherworlders that are causing problems in the human world, as well as occasionally taking down human magic users or psychics that have overstepped their bounds.

-Gold Team: open
These are the top of the line hunters. Only the most experienced and skilled hunters wind up here. They deal primarily with the nightmare creatures of Mara Nocnitsa, but also handle legendary creatures of Phantasia, and any shifter or fae that is too powerful for the hunters of the other two teams to capture or destroy. Always prepared for the worst, Gold hunters have an extremely varied arsenal of modern, ancient, and magical weapons to aid them in their hunts.

Gold Hunters:
-Basil Ford, Aeon
-Kel Winston, Human ESPer, NPC
- open

-Silver Team: open
This team is mainly dedicated to rogue shapeshifters, and their name reflects it. They handle all the moon-mad werewolves and the like. Their signature weapons always include a certain amount of silver alloy, to be more effective against their chosen quarry.

Silver Hunters:
-Kenji Morimatsu, Were-raven, NPC
-open

-Iron Team: open
This team is mainly dedicated to rogue fey, and their name reflects it. They handle the redcaps and other unseelie types. Their signature weapons usually are made of cold iron, to be more effective against their chosen quarry.

Iron Hunters:
-open

Registration Officer
Though some officers remain in the ESPer headquarters, others hit the field and knock on doors to make sure all of the supernatural creatures and “special” humans are officially registered in the ESPers database. They are normally only armed with clipboards, stacks of paperwork, pens, and cameras, but sometimes they carry protective items on more dangerous assignments.

-Alpha Team: Supervised by Michael Harrison, Human
These R.O.'s handle the most dangerous assignments, sometimes needing hunter accompaniment, but not always. The toughest sorts of supernatural creatures usually wind up on this team so they can stand up to the abuse that a newly transformed vampire, wraith, or shifter can dish out. These are the most likely field R.O.'s to carry magical or mundane weapons with them on a regular basis.

Alphas:
-Gabriel DiSantis, Wraith
-Sage Gillespie, half-demon Sorceress
-Roman Garou, Werewolf

-Beta Team: open
This field team typically handles assignments that are lower risk, like Seelie faeries, unicorns, and angels. They enjoy all the fresh air and exercise they get on the job.

Betas: open

-Delta Team: open
Stuck in boring cubicles and offices, the Delta team stays behind and deals with the registrations that come to the ESPers headquarters... whether they're willing applicants or not. With all the security in the building, they don't have nearly as high risk sitting behind their desks, but it can still get pretty hairy with the unwilling applicants (no pun intended).

Deltas:
-Melody Thomas, Penitent

Ambassador
A very important position in the ESPers. Ambassadors from every world and species, including humans, are represented. The ambassadors vote on policy changes, discuss how the changing human world impacts otherworld visitors and immigrants, and act as points of contact for their represented species. There is always a chief ambassador for every otherworld and Earth, as well as minor ambassadors for various species. Not all species are represented at all times, since the position is voluntary and there isn't always someone willing to do the job. However, they do try to have a good balance of ambassadors from every otherworld, so the scales of power aren't tipped too far in any one direction.

Ambassadors:
-Mara Nocnitsa: open
-Higher Plane: (Temporarily) Cait Burek, Cherubim, NPC
-Beastlands: Horatio Mimizuku, Owl Shifter (NPC)
-Tuatha De Danaan: open
-Phantasia: Denise Masters, Dragon, NPC and Talis Flitter, Dragon
-Human Earth: open

Obfuscator
These are the people who deal with the media, local authorities, and human government organizations when something supernatural has occurred. They smooth everything over, come up with a plausible non-supernatural explanation for the events, and make sure money changes hands if needed.

-Team Rock: Leopold Conway, Half-Sidhe, NPC
These are the hardcore obfuscators that infiltrate government agencies and local police, making sure the hunters never hit any snags with human authorities and certain laws are passed or barred that make it easier for the ESPers to do their jobs.

Rocks: open

-Team Paper: supervised by Thorn Duir, Pooka
Official spokespeople for the ESPers, usually the first on the scene when an explanation has to be given to the reporters and journalists. They are brilliant at coming up with convincing lies on the spot and delivering their stories in such a charming way that the paparazzi never knows what hit 'em.

Papers: open

-Team Scissors: open
Less in the public eye than the other two teams, the Scissors take care of Joe-Bob on the street that witnessed that werewolf attack last week. They make sure Joe-Bob understands that it was just swamp gas or a weather balloon, by any means necessary.

Scissors: open

Custodian: open
Not a glamorous position by any means, the custodians deal with the messes that supernatural creatures leave behind. Whether it's a monster attack, a battle between the forces of good and evil, or just a lot of property damage caused by some critter running amock, they clean it up. These are the real friends that help you move bodies. They don't have set teams like some of the other departments, as any given job may require one to fifty custodians to complete it in a certain time frame. As such, there is only one supervisor for the entire department, but the more experienced custodians are pretty good about sharing the workload and helping the newbies learn the ropes.

Custodians:
-open

Career Advisor: open
After an otherworlder is registered, it is usually sent to a career advisor for job placement services. Career advisors have listings for jobs that are suited for various species' lifestyles (night shifts for vampires, and so forth). They also provide training courses to help a new otherworld immigrant develop the technical and interpersonal skills they'll need in their new career. For internal jobs, they send applicants to Internal Hiring.

Career Advisors: open

Internal Affairs Positions:
Most of these are pretty boring and self-explanatory, but they are essential jobs within the ESPers headquarters. Without these hard-working folks, nobody would have clean offices or fresh coffee.

-Building Maintenance: open
They are electricians, plumbers, carpenters, exterminators, and architects all rolled into one. If the building has a structural issue, they fix it.

Maintenance Technicians:
-open

-Janitorial Staff: Helena Bolitho, Swanmaid, Head of the "Spotless" Cleaning Service
Your typical cleaning staff.... or are they? They also make sure the break rooms are clean, stocked, and full of coffee.

Janitors: open

-Secretary: open
They're found in every department, and several work in the lobby as receptionists. They take care of the usual secretarial tasks of directing phone calls, taking and relaying messages, filing documents, fetching coffee, running errands, and so forth.

Secretarial staff:
-Cindy Myer, Succubus, Lobby Secretary, NPC
-open

-Payroll and Internal Hiring: Brenda Nguyen, Human ESPer, Head of Internal Hiring and Payroll, NPC
These are the ones that cut the paychecks, coordinate paid-time-off requests, and hire the new employees that work within the ESPers headquarters itself.

Payroll and Internal Hiring Staff: open
-Paul, Unicorn, Accounting, NPC
-Frank, Unicorn, Payroll, NPC

-Security: open
Just like it says on the tin. These guys keep the riff-raff out of the building.

Security Guards: open

-Archivist: Arthur Paar, Dragon, Administrator
These are the people that work in the vaults, organizing artifacts, books, and documents regarding the otherworlds and things that come through the rifts.

Archivists: open
-Lex, Sphynx, NPC

-Independent Contractor: open
Anyone who technically works within the ESPers headquarters building, or for ESPers on a for-hire basis.

Independent Contractors: open
-Ridley Vulpes, Werefox, Apothecary Pharmacist (NPC)
