Most of you have already played on an online RP of some sort or another, and have a good handle of the etiquette involved in being a good player. However, just so there's no misunderstanding, these are the rules. Bend them, and I will warn you. Break them, and I will warn you, then ban you. I doubt it will come to that, but just so we're clear. 1. Respect your fellow players and admin staff. This is key. Pretty much everything else follows from this, really. 2. Please register your board account as your character's name, first and last. If your character doesn't have a last name for whatever reason, make sure the name you choose isn't so common that five other players may want to use it as a first or last name. Calling your vampire "John", for instance, might be a poor choice. I can change your member name if you make a mistake. 3. Keep it clean... sort of. This board has an R rating, meaning I allow violence, some strong language, and suggestive adult themes here. If you wouldn't see it in an R movie, though, don't put it here. There's a special forum for those of you who need to push the envelope, but it's password protected, so you'll have to ask me before going there. In the meantime, keep the swearing to a minimum, and avoid any language that is offensive on basis of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, etc. See rule #1. 4. Write all role-playing posts in the third person past tense. That means write your posts as if you were writing a typical fiction novel. Example: "Angela walked into the bar and took a seat, ignoring the stares from a huddle of vampires in the corner." Not, "I jump onto his back and jam my blade between his ribs." 5. Don't abuse the English language in your RP posts. I'm not going to pick on you if English isn't your first language, or if you're dyslexic, or if you just can't spell that well, but please make an effort and DO use a spellchecking program if you know your spelling isn't fabulous. They won't catch everything, though. Also, no netspeak, lolcatspeak, l33t, or Myspace-style formatting. Use punctuation and capital letters the way they were intended, thank you. The Exception: I don't care how you type in the OOC forums, as long as others can understand you. ;) Also, if you want to get fancy with your topic titles or whatever, go for it. 6. Please read over all rules, and wait for your character's profile to be approved before playing. That means, take the time to figure out how we do things here before just jumping into the RP, please. I'm pretty laid back about this normally, since I know most of you folks, but it really helps me run things more smoothly when my players know how things work on this board. If you're not sure, ask me! That's what I'm here for. :) 7. Have fun! Because if you're not having fun, then there's a problem. If it's something that can be fixed or improved, talk to me or any of the other staff. If it can't be fixed... well, there are plenty of other RP boards on the internets.
