Paardathumnoraax Played by Brennan Frost; Contact Darksidemaster7@gmail.com Posted Image "I was ruling worlds before your species discovered eyes, child. Do not idly trifle with that which you do not comprehend" ~*~ ESPer Identification Card Full Name: Paardathumnoraax Aliases: Arthur Paar, Tiamat, Typhon, Tien-Lung, Hatuibwari, Jormungandr, Apophis, Ouroboros, Sirrush, Zu Gender: Male Age/Birthday: Ancient beyond measure, possibly since the dawn of existence Sexual Orientation: Not. Job Title: Owner of Midway Books Otherworld Affiliation: Phantasia Species: Dragon Physical Appearance: Paardathunmoraax rarely assumes his true form outside his hidden lair (the last time he did so was in the mid 1700's). His human form is that of a stately English gentleman who looks like nothing if not a professor of history or literature. He has short silver hair, and switches between being clean shaven and bearded depending on his mood. His eyes appear light brown at first glance, but when the light catches them right they are revealed to be a deep and rich golden hue. Most of the time he dresses fairly formally, wearing spotless off-white clothing just casual enough so as not to look overly pretentious. When in his store he dresses down and looks just a bit more grizzled, usually opting for a tweed jacket. Personality: Arthur is supremely arrogant and aloof. He is absolutely confident in his superiority over almost every other being in existence, going so far as to consider even the mighty Aeons as equals, making them the only beings he considers worthy of his true respect. He rarely goes so far as to berate others for his inferiority bluntly, preferring to assert his intellectual dominance subtly through displays of sardonic wit and veiled insults. He rarely indulges in jovial displays, usually acting with cool, dispassionate sarcasm when he carries a conversation. History: However cliche it might sound, this is how his story began. In the beginning, there was void. Then from the void came a light, and from that light came flame. As the beams of light scattered throughout the multiverse creating the Aeons and the lords of Nightmare, the flame descended upon the then barren world of Phantasia. The flame roared into a raging inferno. And from that inferno rose many great and mighty beings. The largest among them was Paardathumnoraax, The First Dragon. From him sprang many multitudes of children, born from the immeasurable power of his breath and will. His children flew across all of known existence, becoming myths and gods among many worlds. The denizens of Earth began to worship dragons as gods, great houses of Fae Lords took the symbol of the Dragon as their banners... throughout all that was, the power of Paadathumnoraax and his children became respected and feared. When The War That Shattered Worlds began, both Dark and Light petitioned for the aid of the Dragons in their mighty war, thinking that their strength would tip the scales in one side's apocalyptic favor. The Dragon Lord chose to remain neutral, not caring for what he saw as the petty squabbles of the foolish realms. For this many can be thankful, as it is long speculated that had he chosen a side the world would be vastly different - though some of the higher powers in those once warring realms have not forgotten his decision, nor do they look fondly upon it. For untold eons The First Dragon ruled over his kind in Phantasia with an iron claw with a ferocity that many Dragons eventually began to resent. The war that followed, led by one of Paardathumnoraax's first sons, was of a scale Phantasia had never known. The sky burned and the earth cracked and baked under the heat of maelstroms of dragonfire, but in the end The First Dragon was cast down from his rule. Defeated by his own children, Paardathumnoraax slipped into an ignominious exile on Earth. Time has forgotten if the immeasurably powerful dragon was the same being behind the mortal legends of the dragon gods, Jormungandr and Typhon, Tiamat and Apophis, and the old Dragon King is certainly not telling these days. Whatever power he may have wielded back then has greatly diminished to naught but a shade of what it was. As Earth became more solid, the old dragon was less able to hold his true form without his power corroding away. He built a lair out of scattered emphemra where the banality of Earth would not affect him, but beyond its borders he became only as powerful as the mortal shell he wore, which grew older and frailer over the many years. It has now been over three hundred years since he dared take wing in the skies of Earth, and even then it was only due to the incursion of several powerful drakes into his immediate domain that triggered his action. He still has access to considerable magical power in his human form, but he looks upon that strength with disdain - it being barely a spark compared to the godlike powers he could once wield. Nowadays, the Dragon King indulges his love of books and knowledge by running a used book store in St. Paul, where the ancient power is closely monitored by the ESPers. Beneath the store are seemingly endless catacombs of millions of books, the dragon king's library including almost every book, magazine and newspaper ever put to print. In his trove are the contents of the lost library of Alexandria and the forgotten books of the Bible. If it is written, the dragon who calls himself Arthur Paar has a copy, and it is most likely signed. This has made him an unofficial archivist for the Twin Cities ESPers office, the first point of contact whenever they need access to some truly obscure information. Whether or not they get it, however, is another matter entirely - for Arthur Paar protects his library as jealously as the dragons of old guarded their gold and jewels. Only one member of the ESPers office has had any success in holding the dragon's interest - Thorn Duir. The closest thing that Arthur seems to have to a friend, the two of them share philosophical discussions over cognac every Thursday. He still views the enigmatic Pooka as a definite inferior, he admits that Duir is probably the most interesting person on the planet (excepting himself, naturally), and is the person with which he can have the closest thing to an intelligent conversation. ~*~ Dossier (From your tabletop RPG sheet, if you have one, otherwise skip/delete this section.)
