Surge stomped assuredly up to the deck, hooking his one end of the pole around one of the holes in the cargo hatch's grate. He gave a nod at Shukla to do the same. The man was obviously trying his hardest not to seem like he didn't really know anything, at least by Surge's approximation. Pitiful, but he'd learn. Hopefully. Drawing back, he easily tossed the heavy hatch up and over, gently setting it down on the deck with the might of his strength. He looked up at the kinfolk and cabin boy on the crane, helping to lower down the net into the depths of the ship. He watched as the net easily was placed down where the other five kinfolk were waiting, cargo ready to be loaded. After a spell, and after the net was firmly in position on the ground, the kinfolk began loading it up with all the barrels and chests and crates that they were going to take into port. It wasn't a king's worth in money, but it certainly weren't a paltry sum either. He looked across at Shukla, and motioned with his head down into the hold. "Once these kinfolk get it loaded, our job's going to be making sure the net don't swing into the sides as it's raised." He held up the pole. "Not the hardest job, but important. Net catches, and something could spill. And I'm not one for messes." He looked back down to see that the majority of the first load was ready in the net. He estimated that they would need about one and half more before they were able to get it all up on deck. Without looking at Shukla he said, "alright there, lad, get ready. I'm not sure I wholeheartedly trust that boy up in the-" and as his gaze raised up to the crane platform, he spotted that there was only one person up there. One kinfolk. That boy sure was a flighty one. A sour look swept over his face, like a toothache or soured wine. He tossed his pole to the ground with a vehement force, completely ignoring the new crewman as he stalked off to find the boy. He found him, where else? Bugging the captain. He walked up, and nodded to Nathaniel. "Begging your pardon, Captain." He looked at the meek cabin boy, so foolish in his size. "Boy, do you know why we always have two people up on the crane when things are moving?" He didn't wait for a response. "Because," he spit the next word, "if we've got a sudden wind that starts boxing our compass, or a line is weak and begins to break, or someone is in danger in some other way because of the cargo and loot we're dragging up, then we need at least two sets of eyes to see it. Because that is safe, and that is needed, and that is what will not get people killed." He bore down on the youthful Bastet, coming nearly nose to nose with his face, and shifting ever a little onward to his true bear form to give him size and ferocity. Starting at nearly a whisper and growing to a bellow, each word was a crescendo of threatened violence. "If you don't get back up there and help that kinfolk, I will use your muscles as rigging the next time Mukiri needs to replace it! Now," he somehow managed to get even closer, and snarled, "move!!!" After the display, he turned to look at the Captain. For all his stoic anger, he still gave the Captain a sly wink and a wry look. "Captain." He then lumbered off to help Shukla guide the net back up onto the deck. |

Ashton had been completely ready to follow his captain down below deck, but froze when Surge came lumbering over. The man was clearly upset and something squeezed in the boy's gut. He'd messed up, that much was clear. As soon as the words began to spill from the Gurahl's lips, embarrassment flooded Ashton's mind and body and he flushed bright red. The boy had no witty come back, no joke to be cracked. Instead, that final threat stole all of the color from his cheeks, making the boy pale as death, and he swallowed thickly. In a moment of uncharacteristic silence, he simply nodded once and obediently ran off. Stupid...So stupid He thought to himself, shaking his head a bit as he made his way back to the rigging. Not sparing a glance at any of the surrounding people, Ashton gripped a rope and began to pull himself up. There were no tricks this time around, to flips or showing off. He just pulled himself up and waited to be given an order of some sort. Aston knew he wasn't the most talented aboard the ship, so he made up for it with his cheery, sly nature and the way he tended to get along with the kinfolk. However, he always tried his best to do as told, despite his sarcastic remarks. That was why when he messed up this way, he tended to come down hard on himself. After all, he had a lot to prove, and messing up like that wasn't doing him any good. Up in the rigging, he watched for Surge to come back, then for him and Shukla and the other kinfolk to get to work. His attention was switching between them and the crane, watching for any chance of things going wrong. He wouldn't mess this up a second time. Edited by understatedEloquence, July 7, 2013, 9:54 pm.

The Gurahl's words froze not only the Bastet in place. Nathaniel had stopped walking to listen and observe, watching as the cabin boy was thoroughly berated. He did feel a dash of pity for the boy, but he kept his mouth shut and let his First Mate handle this. He wasn't about to show any signs of weakness in front of Sergio. Not if he could help it. That look the Gurahl gave him after Ashton scampered off sent a small chill through the Corax, but he kept his expression neutral. In light of their earlier conversation, that wink and accompanying look had been very unsettling to Nathaniel. It took a good bit of effort for him to wait a few moments, feigning indifference, before continuing on his way to his cabin. Once the door was closed behind him and he was therefore hidden from view, he allowed himself a few moments to let that tension unwind. His breathing was quick, and his legs felt a little unsteady as he slouched against the wall. But once he'd pulled himself back together, he straightened his posture again and walking over to his desk. There was a bottle of rum sitting on the corner of the desk, and he immediately poured himself a glass of it even before sitting down. "Time to get this over with," he muttered to himself as he opened his ledger, beginning the work that was one of his least favorite parts of being a captain. |

Shukla listened to everything that Surge had to say and that all he had to do was guide the net so it didn’t crash into anything, easy right? Shukla hoped that it would be that easy seeing as this whole life style is new to him. He waited and watched the net get loaded and things couldn’t seem to be going any smoother than this, now all that needs to be done is guide it to safety. That’s what he was thinking until Surge threw down his pole and left him sitting there looking like a deer caught in the head lights “this can’t be good…” was all he could say. Shukla noticed that they were ready to bring up the net and everything it held, but he quickly waved to them and yelled “wait! We’re not ready on our end!” he was sure that was the right thing to do. Surge was saying something about not trusting someone before he took off in a fit of anger and Shukla had no clue who he was talking about at the time but he could hear someone yelling. Just then in the corner of his eye he noticed the one called Ashton pulling himself up to the crane “ that must be the boy he was speaking of, guess he was the once getting yelled at” Shukla smiled a bit and looked up at Ashton. He waved at him and gave a thumb up, just a kind gesture from Shukla to show the cabin boy that not everyone was mad at him for slacking off. Shukla then heard footsteps coming his way and looked in the direction they were coming from “here comes the great bear…” Shukla said to himself as he held onto his pole. Shukla looked at Surge and spoke “I told them to wait until things were ready up here sir” he only hoped that he did the right thing seeing as nothing was ready and it would just be him guiding the net without Ashton and Surge helping. He knew it wasn’t such a difficult job, but he would rather be safe than sorry and from what he just heard, pissing of Surge wasn’t something he wanted to do at to time. |

The only acknowledgement the great bear gave to signify that he had heart Shukla was a sharp nod and a grunted, "Good." Surge said nothing else. He gave no indication as to the degree which he was angry with the cabin boy. He gave no compliment to Shukla about how he wished more of the crew could be as swift on the upkeep as he was. He said nothing. Just the nod, the grunt, and then, with plank thumping paws, he padded back over to the pole and picked it up. With a wave of his hand to the kinfolk below, and a curt nod up to the crew at the crane, he looked at Shukla, keeping his peripheral vision open for whether there was any wiggle in the rope. As the cargo was hoisted up to the deck, he engaged in a rarity: banter. "So, Shukla, why're you crewing a pirate ship?" No hidden malice colored the gurahl's question. "You don't mind my saying so, you don't look fit for the sea." The great beast of a man glanced down at the rising net. It was sturdy. "Not to say you aren't fit at all. But not all folk are made for it." Without moving his head, he glanced quickly up at the crane, just visible at the top of his eyesight. Then back down. "You don't seem to be for the sea. So what are you for then?" By the time the garou had answered his question, the net with their plunder was at deck level. Together with Shukla, he moved the net into position for unloading, and gently used the pole to guide it to where it needed to be along with Shukla's pole. Once the crane crew had finally lowered the net to the deck and there was slack in the lines, Surge began undoing the net with Shukla. |

Shukla smiled just a bit as Surge said “good” and that was more than enough for him to know what he was saying. To him Surge was old school and kept things like his feeling to himself from what he could tell. While waiting for the cargo to get up to the deck, Shukla heard Surge speak to him. He was asked many things but from what he got from most of the questions was “why was he there?” and he was amazed that Surge asked him. Shukla thought and smiled a bit “well I’m mainly here for the adventure and to learn of the world” he wasn’t going to speak of his true intentions because that was for no one else to know. By the time they were done speaking the cargo was finally on the deck. They both began to undo the net and once things were done Shukla looked up at Surge “sir if you don’t mind I’m going to go and get ready for when we make port” Shukla turned and walked off to get ready. |

It was nearing nightfall when Gaia's Galleon pulled into the harbor of their destination. The port was a bustling place already, though with another hour or so of daylight remaining, not too much debauchery was yet going on. Most of the activity was on the more respectable side of things, merchants selling their wares to passersby and the locals going about their daily lives. Once anchor was dropped, Nathaniel made a quick round to designate who would be staying behind to guard the ship. Though this port wasn't well-known as a pirate port, it did cater to privateers and the like who happened to be passing through. Most pirates didn't know that this port was friendly to them, but Nathaniel had done enough traveling in these parts to be familiar with this place and others like it. Nathaniel would call this place decidedly neutral ground. All of the people asked to stay on the ship were Kinfolk. Nathaniel wanted his fellow Fera with him when in this port. He'd seen some disturbing sights the last time he was in this place, and he wished to do a little more investigating now that he had some backup. Of course, there was a fair bit of shopping they needed to do while here. He'd give his crew plenty of time to get that done. The Kinfolk, at least. He'd asked Sergio to give the shopping list to one of the more trusted Kinfolk, so that man would be taking care of it. Nathaniel gathered the Fera together on the deck of the ship for a quick word before departing the vessel. "While I do want you all to enjoy yourselves while here," he told them, "do keep in mind what our duty is. I will not insist on us staying together, but do not take unnecessary risks if you are on your own. Take on only what you can handle, and remember not to reveal what you are to humans. I understand that some situations call for a shift in public, but use your best judgment. "First and foremost, we will seek out other Fera here," he continued, making this more than just the intended quick word. "They will know best what has been transpiring in this port and in these waters. We could use any new Fera in our crew that we can get, provided that they are not bound to protecting this place from the Wyrm. "If you encounter anything that has been influenced by the Wyrm, find the rest of us and we will handle it as a group. While I do not expect to find a hive of Black Spiral Dancers or anything of the sort here, that does not mean we will not encounter them. I understand that some of you are very new to dealing with such creatures, so here is what you need to know. "Black Spiral Dancers are Garou that have fallen victim to the Wyrm. Do not try to reason with them. They cannot be saved. All we can do is offer them a swift death. Their crinos forms are hideous, so you will know them if you see them, I am sure. If you hear a sound like a whippoorwill call, take caution. That is what their howls sound like. "Another Wyrm-tainted being is called a fomori. They will look human and act human, but they are unquestionably evil. If they discover what you are, they will attack you. I have seen only a few of them in my travels, and the ones I did see took on some disturbing traits when they revealed themselves as fomori. You will know if one of them is attacking you. Additionally, keep an eye out for vampires. They are as bad as fomori, or worse. "We will meet back on the ship in the morning, if we do not meet before then," Nathaniel wrapped up. "Best of luck to you all. Don't get yourselves killed." With those parting words, he turned and strode from the ship. He'd already shifted to a full homid form, seeing as his wings would attract far too much attention. He felt naked without them, but he was used to enduring being flightless while among humans. What he wouldn't be was unarmed. Ever. He had a pistol sheathed at his hip, and he'd strapped on a silver cutlass. It had cost an arm and a leg to have made, but it had served him well thus far. Silver was the bane of many Fera and Wyrm-tainted creatures alike. He strode down the ramp to the wooden pier, then walked confidently onward to the crowded streets of the port town. If one of his crewmen decided to follow him and keep close, that was their choice to make. |

After seeing to the Kinfolk about their unloading, and making sure that one of them had a proper handle on what needed purchasing (a hardy Kinfolk by the name of Daemin), Surge was for once at a bit of a loss for what needed doing. The crew had done fine work unloading and getting all of the cargo up to deck, with the minor exception of that small hiccup. However, they were a self-sustaining bunch, and the great bear of a man felt that they best could handle things a bit better without his constant shadow on them. It was a bit of a coin toss in Sergio's mind, but he decided to stick with the captain. Fully shifting into homid, he turned back to take a last look at the now busy kinfolk. With a nod of his head, he strode at Nathaniel's side, keeping a bodyguard's distance from the captain. Surge despised his homid form. He didn't rightly know how humans went about their daily work, and it felt far to constrained when he was in it. He felt like he would burst, as if someone had shoved him into a tight cave and left him to bloat off berries for too long. Surge didn't like uncomfortable. Not one bit. But this wasn't to say he still did not carve an imposing figure as he walked behind the captain. Sergio figured that this, their first port of any substantial calling, might give them trouble, and he was not going to allow the captain to fall into any harm. "So, Nathaniel, back on land." It was not a conversation so much as an observation, a simple statement. His simple thoughts often escaped from his mouth. Air from a damp cave, just the wind passing through. "Where to first?" |

The wandering chef, Elly Espinn. That was what she called herself, and her expertise and willingness to experiment in the kitchen was only matched by... "Elly!" That was the sound of her current employer - a Fera of the sort Elly forgot - shouting at her about hanging from the ceiling again. Not everybody was used to seeing an otherwise-normal-looking person create a thread of spider web and dangle from the ceiling of her workplace. Even if the kitchen was separated from everywhere else, there was always the chance some human would get a peek in there, and that wouldn't end well. And, as it did when somebody called her name, Elly's concentration broke. With it, the thread attaching her to the ceiling. She fell, hit the counter with her head, and fell again, this time landing perfectly on her back on the floor of this wee little establishment. "Sorry, boss," she said. "But isn't my shift over? I was just cleaning up in here. Have a nice day." With that, the Ananasi got up to her feet and stepped out. Some people who knew of her hanging habits swore that her memory problems were because of always landing on her head, rather than the true story about her first transformation. In either event, that was years ago, in a place far from here where she could get a blank slate on life. Nobody disliked her around here, but not many people particularly liked her either. This busy busy port with so many interesting people always coming through. That was one thing she loved. The sense of adventure those people had around them, and the stories she sometimes heard from the kitchen. From time to time, quite often, Elly wished she could be on a boat too, and deal with all the adventure and hardships those people dealt with. Even her boss sometimes said she should head to sea if she ever had the chance. She did always keep her eyes peeled for that chance. It just never came to her. As she looked down at the ships, she saw a new one coming in. And two people getting off! This was one of her favorite things, and proof of how unlike the average Ananasi she was in nature. When people come to port, ask them about it. What was it, some might have asked when Elly told them? Well, everything! Making her way through the port and to those two, she did the thing that irritated many in the past and even got her a broken arm once. She looked dead at the two who were coming from their ship, and asked "You two are sailors, right?" |

The moment the ship pulled into port, Ashton felt a surge of relief hit him. All day he'd been berating himself over the morning's mistake, and at least now he would have room to move and run. The plan had been, as per usual for the boy, to head off on his own, do a bit of spying and the like. However, seeing Nathaniel and Serge leaving the ship, captain first and first mate following not long after, had his interests peaked. The boy was still rather uncomfortable around Sergio, and the days events hadn't really helped to alleviate that. But Ashton wasn't going to pass up the chance to watch Nathaniel and get to know more about him. After all, it was good to get to know your captain, right? In any case, the Bastet waited a few moments before making his way off the ship. Unlike some other Fera, Ashton was perfectly comfortable in his homid form. Of course, he much preferred his feline form, as that was his most comfortable form. But he did enjoy his homid form as well. The teen followed his captain and first mate from the ship, easily swerving through the people bustling along the port and keeping them in his sights. It wasn't spying, not really. After all, Ashton was pretty sure at least one of them realized he was there. That didn't mean he couldn't keep a bit of distance...observing more than joining. It wasn't until the girl stopped and began speaking to his crew members that the boy stopped as well. He could hear her asking if they happened to be pirates, and a grin spread his lips. Pirates...the concept still bright a smile to his face. Sure, it wasn't exactly what he'd thought it would be, but every day he was growing to love it more and more. Normally, Ashton loved to eavesdrop. Today though, he had other things to do...Turning on his heel, the teen made his way back towards the ship until a flash of familiar blue hair caught his attention. Shukla...before today the man had never really caught his attention. He was really pretty quiet most of the time, and mostly kept to himself so he'd never had his eye. That said, since the morning, when Shukla had done his best to make the boy feel better, he'd definitely taken notice. Smiling brightly, Ashton made his way towards the man with little wave. "Hi there, Shukla...headed anywhere specific?" Realizing this would be a good time to get to know the Garou, he continued. "Would you mind if I tagged along with you for a while?" |

Nathaniel had been about to reply to his First Mate's question, but his attention was drawn away from him and instead onto a girl who had approached them. She was an interesting-looking one, and clearly very sociable. Few would come right up to people fresh off a ship to ask them anything. Unless they were dock workers. But a woman like this one was definitely not a dock worker. And it was still too early for ladies of the night to be out and about. "Why yes, we are," the Corax replied to her question. "I'm the captain of that ship, Gaia's Galleon." He didn't mind spreading the name of the vessel around. Fera would know the name Gaia, and it would at least get their attention. He'd used it to break the ice on the Fera topic and recruit some of the others on the ship. "Nathaniel Ward, and my First Mate Sergio Hartz, at your service." He executed a graceful bow, taking the woman's hand in the process to plant a gentle kiss on her knuckles. "And what, may I ask, is your name, my dear?" |

Shukla smiled as port was made and the falling night sky was becoming more and more beautiful to his eyes while he gazed at the sky. Holding onto his small pouch of money that he’s been saving for some time, of course it wasn’t all that small as it was holding a nice amount of money inside of it. Shukla began walking around the ship until he heard the captain speak. Shukla knew only a little about the wyrm and what types of people were influenced by it, but once Nathaniel said something about Black Spiral Dancers. This topic intrigued Shukla a lot and that was because they were once Garou… the fact that the Black Spiral Dancers were once the same as him and now fallen under such influence made Shukla feel as if he had a bad taste in his mouth “pitiful… to be so weak and call yourselves Garou…” his pride was showing and it was pride for the strength of his people. He felt that anyone that allowed themselves to be taken were weak and deserved only death, it was just too bad that Shukla wanted to avoid a fight for he could lose control of himself. Finally Nathaniel was done talking and went on his way. Shukla looked around and watched everyone go off in separate directions “I guess I go alone” Shukla smiled seeing as the thought didn’t bother him at all, but inside he wished just a little that he had someone to go into town with. Getting to know the crew wasn’t such a bad thing, just Shukla was bad at small talk and making friends wasn’t easy for him. Shukla tied the pouch of money to his right wrist and walked down off the ship. He looked around noticing many faces along with many odd smells, but what was to be expected with such a crowded place? Shrugging of the smells Shukla walked slowly taking his time because he wanted to get his land legs back before he went too far away from the ship, he still felt as if he was at sea and that was making him uneasy or it made him look like a drunk as he bumped into people. Shukla stopped moving and bent his knees “Ok I can do this…” he felt dumb but he’s never been at sea for such a long time before. While he was focusing, Shukla heard a voice and the voice spoke his name and asked if he was going anywhere. Shukla stood up normally and noticed the one speaking was the cabin boy Ashton. A puzzled look crossed his face and Shukla’s left eyebrow raised up. He was wondering what was making the kid speak with him, but he quickly let it go once he heard Ashton ask if he could tag along for a while. Shukla smiled at him “I’m not too sure where I’m headed, but I figured wonder around and see what I could find. You’re more than welcome to join me if you really want to” He felt odd speaking in such a nice manor, but he liked the idea of getting to know this boy more seeing as he really knows no one on the ship. Shukla bent back a little and cracked his back “let’s be on our way then shall we?” he spoke with a small smile as he began walking forward. Hoping Ashton was right behind him. |

Sara shifted her form, clear disgust and annoyance at having to take on what she felt was her oddest and most alien body. The shark would have followed after the captain, however once off the ship she started to explore to wonder what was so popular about being on land; especially since she didn’t feel at ease and felt it way too dry compared to the open sea. However seeing at how she looked like a crone in this form she took quick note that the humans were looking at her in a similar way that she felt. The shark started to feel uncomfortable on the land and started toward the sea, hoping to relax. The woman would sit on the edge of the sea, watching the waves and contemplating going for a swim. Mentally she was debating because of what the captain said, there was dangers here and she may need to assist the captain or another crewmember. [[Its short]] |

Surge didn't like to be interrupted, especially when speaking to the captain, and especially by landlubbing scum. But the girl seemed sweet and relatively innocent, and so Serge did not draw his sword immediately. He stood impassively at his captain's side, waiting to see what this interesting street person could possibly say that would interest them. The confrontation was certainly unexpected and sudden. At the mention of his name, Sergio gave a sharp nod of his head. A scowl sat upon his face, furrowing his brow. But this was not unusual. It was his standard look. And he gave it strongly to the newcomer, whoever she might be. |

Elly was taken aback at the captain's graciousness. The ship name was also interesting to her, but most of all in her mind was how the captain - like quite the gentleman - was even so kind as to bow and even give her a kiss on the knuckles. No sailor had done that yet, and it showed in the surprise on Elly's face. She'd read stories where people did that kind of thing, but had assumed it was all but a lost art. "I-I'm Elly...Espinn. Some people call me Elis." The ship this captain Ward had behind him was nice enough. Gaia's Galleon. Was it, maybe...? "When you said Gaia's Galleon, do you mean...you know, that Gaia?" The one Fera of all walks could recognize? In Elly's case, that was thanks to her boss giving her the know-how of Fera since she had nobody else to really teach her before meeting him. If the ship was named after Gaia, it stood to reason the captain was also a Fera. That meant this could finally be her out. Her way to at long last head out to sea! Maybe today was her lucky day after all. |

Nathaniel was quite pleased when this woman took a special interest in the term Gaia. Of course, this could mean one of a handful of things. She might be a Fera, yes, and that was the best-case scenario. She could be a Kinfolk, which was also fine, but less ideal since he was looking to recruit only more Fera. He had plenty of Kinfolk on the ship already. The worst-case scenario would be that she was an agent of the Wyrm. They knew the term as well, and it was a huge tipoff that those on-board the ship were associated with Fera, if not Fera themselves. "That depends, Miss Espinn," he replied smoothly, "on which Gaia you are referring to." He leaned in closer to her, his lips right at her ear for him to whisper, "Does the term 'Fera' have any significance to you? If so, we should find a more private place to talk than the docks." He pulled back from her with a smile, awaiting her answer. All the while, he was ready to take action should she prove to be a threat. He trusted that Sergio was similarly ready to strike her down if she revealed herself to be some Wyrm-tainted monstrosity only masquerading as a human. |

Wandering around with no destination huh? Sure sounded like a plan to Ashton. The boy grinned and nodded, following close behind Shukla as they made their way through the crowded docks. Passing by Nathaniel and Sergio, he noticed that they were still speaking to the girl from before...Seeing the captain lean in to whisper in her ear had a small frown adorning his face. I wonder who she is... He thought to himself. Shaking the thoughts from his mind, Ashton returned his attention to the front as they left the docks and headed into the city. There were stores of all kinds, people of all sorts, but nothing that really caught his eye. "Hm...what do you think?" He asked his companion in a curious tone. "Do you need to buy anything? Or are you hungry?" There were plenty of shops around and from where they stood at the edge of the city, he could see at least two restaurants. "Or do you wanna just walk 'round 'till we find something interesting?" Whatever was fine with Ashton. He had a small pouch of money in his satchel, in case he needed it. So whatever Shukla wanted to do. After all, it would be easy enough to eavesdrop and spy when walking around this way, plus he could get to know the Garou. Two birds, one stone. |

VIBRATIONS SO GOOD LIKE A SUNKIST!

Shukla was in a land of grace; well to him it was that way. He looked around amused at how the streets were littered with feet that stepped quickly on the ground “people sure are in a rush here” his face with a smile. The place reminded him of some of the days when he ran around, alone and stealing money and food from people and mainly the rich to help those in need more than he would help himself. While he was living in the past, a voice broke through his thoughts. He forgot Ashton was with him for a second, but he did hear what the boy asked him “sure I could use something to eat” Shukla started to move through the people quickly as if he was a fish in the water. He was swift on his feet and it showed as he ran through without touching anyone and making his way to the restaurant. Shukla stood in front of the bar examining it and he wasn’t sure what to think from all the people that were inside of it. The place was far busier than he liked, but his stomach was making too much noise for him to care. Shukla walked up the steps and opened the door to walk in, from the outside one couldn’t tell if it was a place for pirates, but once inside anyone could see that these were rich people from the clothing they wore. Of course Shukla felt out of place but once his stomach growled he let that uneasy feel go quickly. He was going to walk forward but he remembered Ashton. Shukla stepped back out the restaurant and waved at Ashton to make sure he didn’t lose him through all the people. He wasn’t going to go and eat alone, Shukla wanted to feel weird with someone else and who better than someone he didn’t know. |

"Does the term 'Fera' have any significance to you? If so, we should find a more private place to talk than the docks." "There's a few restaurants down the road. I live in the basement of one of them, so we can talk there," Elly said in her best hushed tone. The job she worked paid food and board, which was all she really wanted. Unofficially, her boss gave her some money here and there, but that was - as stated - unofficial. She was given all she needed working at that little restaurant, and anybody who knew the term "Fera" was somebody who was one, or related to them. That was what her boss had said to her after he found her and gave her a job, from one Fera to another. The Ananasi girl pointed back down the road, to one of the buildings in particular. It didn't look all that luxurious. Cracked roofs, walls not looking much better, and the entire building looked ready to fall apart at any time. It was sturdy, though, and it was her workplace. Wolf's End, it was called, because the owner was a Garou who liked the name. While most people didn't realize it, that restaurant was pretty Fera-friendly, but its patrons were still asked to do their best of keeping it under wraps for the humans who also dined there. "That's where I work, as a cook. I live right under it, if that's private enough." |

Nathaniel looked over at the restaurant in question, and his stomach did a little flip out of discomfort. The basement of that place was where this girl lived? That sounded like a horrible place to sleep. But then again, Nathaniel was slightly biased when it came to such things. He didn't like being indoors, and he didn't like being underground. Being in the basement of a restaurant that looked like a medium wind could bring it down on his head didn't sound like his idea of a good time. Still, it would be private. "That sounds perfect," he said to her, giving her a confident smile despite his very real misgivings about the meeting location. He spared his First Mate a sideways glance, knowing the Gurahl would be comfortable in a basement like that. At least one of them would be... He motioned toward the restaurant and invited, "Lead on, my dear." |

Smiling slightly at how easy it was for Shukla to make his way through the crowd of people, Ashton followed suit. He danced between people hurrying away, skirted around larger groups, all the while keeping his eyes on the larger Fera so as not to lose him. As they moved, he found himself glad that his companion had chosen food as their first order of business. The teen hadn't been too hungry getting off the ship, but all of the smells around them were making him decidedly more so. A near collision with a man rushing passed him brought Ashton's mind back from where it had wandered. He had to agree with Shukla's earlier statement, The land dwellers really seemed to rush everywhere. Being out at sea, you didn't have much choice but to wait. It was weeks, sometimes months, before you were able to touch dry land again. Sure, chores and such could keep you busy, but there wasn't much need to rush anywhere. It seemed funny to the boy that things were so different on land than at sea. The two seemed to be completely separate worlds. Of course, he loved them both, but Sea life was more...intriguing for the Bastet as of late. It took several moments for Ashton to realize they had stopped. Glancing up, his eyes came to rest on the small sign for the restaurant. It certainly seemed to be a lively place, packed with people. A bit surprised that Shukla had chosen such a place, the boy moved toward the door once he saw the other waving at him. They were seated after a bit of waiting, albeit getting a few strange looks from those around them. Such looks did nothing to faze the smaller male and he was easily able to shrug them off. "Hm...quite a place, eh?" He grinned at Shukla, giving a small wink as he glanced around. They were seated at a slightly less crowded area of the bar, which was just as well. While large crowds didn't really bother the Bastet, he much preferred to eat in a more calm environment. "What do ya' think of this place? The people seem kinda...stuck up, don'cha think?" Wrinkling his nose a bit, the kid let out a laugh and shook his head. When their server arrived, Ashton ordered a his food and then allowed himself to glance around once more, eyes searching for anything interesting. |
