October 31, 1961

It occurred the night after the Hallow Mill Insane Asylum Massacre, in 1961. The local Sheriff Deputies had all crowded around the rather ghastly scene, as the Doctor of the Asylum, Hektor Strauss, was hung from the base of his offices’ ceiling fan by a nylon rope. Strangulation marks covered the hallow of his throat, and blood had exuded down along his chin from the corners of his mouth; dripping into two puddles upon the floor. The source of the blood was the loss of his tongue, which had been torn from his mouth, and laid upon his station desk, behind him. The vile stench of death filled the Asylum's air, the scent mingling with the day before rotten smells, which flowed throughout dozens of rooms by the ventilation system.

The Sheriff's office kept the details to a minimum, causing rumors to flood throughout the township like wildfire. Had it been a calling card for a murderer? Or was it simply an act to hide up the suicide that the Doctor had committed? No one truly knows. As for the quiet and vapid town of Blackwater, the Asylum was known to be haunted by both the victims of the massacre and the Doctor himself. Some of it’s inhabitants believed that the events occurred, and some believed it to be myth; passed down from generation to generation based upon childish lies to keep the local kids out of the abandoned building. To the day, no one knows for sure anymore if it occurred. But at a quarter ‘til midnight, a select few who had chosen to show, made their way to the front of the vast Asylum’s entrance and at the stroke of midnight, their lives would forever be changed, as the truth slowly begins to unfold before them. .

And Then Some

Sisal Annalise

The night was young, the air was still and the moon shown down from the darkened heavens, lighting a path along a deserted gravel trail. The smell of death and decay hung heavy in the air, reminding those of the asylum massacre. Bare feet padded along the pathway which ended in an old iron gate rusted and worn down from time. A simple plaque that read “Hallow Mill Asylum”, hung crooked by a single nail; The metal of the sign warped by age.

Hallow Mill stood battered down and burnt out, like half of a cigarette. It was surrounded by fall-kissed trees and weeds that grew tall, threatening to consume a beaten, old path that led up to the old stone steps of the building. What had once been brick red was now a rustic brown from age and was devoured by the untamed ivy. Dozens of windows sat shattered and barred, plagued with cobwebs that draped in the corners of the iron clad framework.

Twin pools of amber peered forward, analyzing the eerie vision that lay before them. With saffron heels in one hand and a golden and ivory mask in the other, Sisal Annalise should have known better than to be there. Shifting her masquerade mask and her heels into the same hand, she took one last step forward, her right hand lifting so that slender fingers could push up and open the cast-iron lock.

Attired in a silver laced, daring gown that stopped just short of her thighs; The whole shimmered with crystals that lined acrossed the bodice, reminding herself of a sunrise. When she arrived at the cement steps, she took two, then turned about and faced the way she had just came.

Am I early or something?
She thought, and glanced down at her bare wrist. Damn it, I forgot my fucking watch.

She turned back around, and went the rest of the way up the stairs, taking a seat at the very top one, her back towards the door, front facing the road before her once again. She placed her heels off to the left of her and began to fiddle with her mask.

“I guess it can’t be that much longer until someone else shows. .” she said aloud, clearly talking to herself. She hadn’t brought a purse, nor a watch, or her compact mirror and cell. She didn’t want to be bothered and had been looking forward to her few hours of freedom from responsibility to the outside world.

Tawny hair blew passed her face, long strands sticking to the golden colored lip balm she had put on before she left her little house full of hell. The chain that linked the two piercing’s in her ear, danced along the side of her lobe in a tickling manner. Twirling the silver stick that was attached to her mask between her hands, she debated whether or not to go in by herself or wait for others.

“I’ll give it a few more minutes. . If no one shows up by then then I guess I’m by myself tonight.” She said, lips curling into a forlorn smile.

The still air was brushed by a softy black coat detailed with small golden embroidered insignia lacing the cuffs of each sleeve. The silhouette of a young dashing john doe crept up a lonely sidewalk set ablaze with the unruly weeds and cascading death-gripped branches of falling trees. Behind him were shadows as dark as his coat licking at his heels and gnawing at the back of his belt, the only thing setting him apart from them was a deep emerald gaze the rich embroidery.

Infront of him lay a chilling and haunting site that seemed to taunt him with questions, with riddles, and with intrigue he walked forward a smile curling up about his pink lips, that mouthed without a sound the words on the sign.
"Hallow Mill Asylum" The sign hanging by a single nail disrupted with time and the battering of mother nature.
The smile faded and his eyes filled with awe as he walked quickly past to feel belittled by the overwhelming sensation that erupted just from the broken pieces of glass shattered against the cobble stones, and the bars that held so much hell inside. The building was downtrodden, the shingles cracking under just the slightest gift of gravity. Broken wood from past attempted repairs lay warped and water logged, covered by the density of the uncut grass Words, just could not even touch the magnificence of the eerily designed history that blotted this landscape with a story of sorrow, and madness.

"Gravity, thou art a heartless bitch." He whispered as a shingle toppled to the ground. The once beauty was falling apart and finally coming to its closing days, as it only seemed to stand until the laws of physics decided it would no longer.

The thought, was all most transcendent in its metaphorical glory. He licked his lips as the passion seemed overwhelming. His shoes never failed in their pace and before he could think again the iron knob was cold and jagged in his hand, as if time had even taken its toll on the strongest of substances in their time. He twisted it slowly and it ran through his hand and he could feel slivers of metal break off into a calloused palm. At once, as a creek loudly and abruptly came and went, he noticed the weight of the large and intricately designed doors, but their was nothing truly spectacular about the design of the aged wood.

And as if only now he had decided to notice her, he turned a mysterious gaze upon the young girl shining like the moon on concrete steps, "Are you coming Miss?"

To those who move downrange to the future. Good luck and Damn Few.

Bright red hair shone in the faint moonlight, complimenting the vibrant reds and oranges of the thin silken dress. The ever so slightly tanned figure walked smoothly, her dress swirling around her body like a fire being battered by the wind. Her deep green eyes were framed by the red and yellow mask, fully completing the illusion. She was dressed perfectly for the occasion, maybe even too much so. In all reality, she wasn't even completely sure what caused her to dress herself up in such a way. There was just something so exhilarating about getting all dressed up for a party.

She came to a stop just in front of the building. The Hallow Mill Asylum. Victoria, known to just about everyone as Vic, brushed a strand of hair behind her ears - it was more of a nervous habit than anything else - as she looked upon the broken down building. "here goes nothing" she whispered to herself before heading inside.
I'll whisper in your ear,
You are mine, and you will never have to be alone.
And when I pull you near,
You'll know I love you like I never loved anyone.
So let me be the one to lift you up,
I'll carry you home.
'Cause now I'm here to keep you safe,
And to catch you when you fall.
