Long ago, Magic thrived throughout the Kingdom of Valaecia as a way of life. There wasn't a man, woman or child alive who wasn't aware of its existence and its incredible properties. It was a part of everyday life and most vocations used it as their primary method of profit making. The Kingdom thrived and in a really cliché way, everyone was happy. The King, Valorius, governed the lands with fairness and order. He was a popular king, and no small part of that was thanks to his plan to create Magic schools where children could learn to grow up with and master the various kinds of Magic, as well as uncover the many things that they still didn’t understand about magic along the way – including its origins. This, he believed, would create an even brighter world and one that could continue to prosper long after his reign had ended. And so it came to be that many Magic schools were constructed around the Kingdom. In their first year, students would be put through a test which allowed for them to discover the kind of Magic they were best suited to learn. There were three Magic "Schools": Aggressive, Defensive, and Supportive. Once they had been accepted into a school: the students would then choose a type of magic within their School to learn and master. When they finished their schooling, they’d either join a Mage’s College to further their learning or start applying for Contracts and jobs which would allow them to use their abilities to better society in exchange for money. Every human alive had the ability to use Magic; there was never once a tale of someone who couldn’t wield it in some way or another. However, there were those who chose to believe that Magic was a horrible thing that Humankind had become far too dependent on. These groups became known as The Disenchanted, and they too started up their own schools in which children – should they so choose – could learn to live without magic and cast it aside as thing of weakness. Though King Valorius did not care for the schools, he did not wish to cause an upset by restricting their construction and so let The Disenchanted do as they pleased. He was far too naive to see what would come of this decision... Many years passed, and so too did Valorius after a long and prosperous reign. His son, Valaros ascended the Throne and did his best to follow in his Father’s footsteps. However, his Royal Council was unsure of whether the boy was truly fit to run the Kingdom as Valorius had. He was a fickle ruler, unable to make up his mind about pressing issues that were beginning to plague the Kingdom. Chief among these issues was a rising of tensions between the Mages and The Disenchanted. The Disenchanted had elected a new Leader for their operations, Devan Maliss. He was a controversial leader as far as the Mages were concerned, and went so far as to say that he believed that those who practiced Magic were evil. This in turn, sparked the first of many conflicts. Riots began to break out in the streets as the Disenchanted began to protest and revolt under their King’s rule. The Mages began to fight back for the sake of the Kingdom. The small rebellion turned into a medium scale civil war. The King became paranoid of what would soon happen to the Kingdom his father worked so proudly to keep maintained. He was right to be worried. One night, as he slept, a small group of Disenchanted assassins stole into his bedroom and took his life. It’s unclear exactly what happened next, but as far as anyone could remember, Devan Maliss came to Power and the Kingdom became an Empire. Before anyone could blink an eye, The Disenchanted Emperor went about destroying anyone who wouldn’t swear fealty to him and his Anti-Magic cause. It was under the new King’s Leadership that the Magic Purge came to be. Twenty Years Later Unbeknownst to Emperor Devan, small groups of Mages actually survived the Purge and have spread out all across the Empire and gone into hiding. Though most of their knowledge had been lost to them due to Devan’s destruction of all the Magical Archives, there still remain Masters who teach young and aspiring Mages deep within Valaecia’s Colossal Forest. However, despite their survival, the Mages are still distraught by their near destruction. There are some who fear the day that The Disenchanted Emperor finds them and finishes them off for good. Fortunately, these numbers are heavily outweighed against those who do not share such a bleak outlook. The younger generation are sick of the oppression they have been born into under the rule of them Empire, and they’re looking to take it back and restore Valaecia to its former glory. ”Deep within the Forests, the United Mages stir. None can comprehend, the Wrath they shall incur. Beneath the Full Moon’s Rise, the World they shall reclaim. They’ll stop the Wicked Emperor, and set his Soul aflame.” *NOTE: The Mages are the only playable characters. This RP is dealing with the training of the new Generation and – much later down the road, assuming I get the numbers – the beginning of the Magic Revolution.* The Ways of Old The Aggressive School: The Defensive School: The Supportive School: Rules Character Sheets Accepted Characters LET THE TRAINING BEGIN! Are we allowed to have more than one character? cuz i'm thinking both aggressive school: beast form, and supportive school: telepathy (or alchemy, dunno yet) Edited by Dream, March 28, 2012, 8:38 pm.

Well, I am making two characters - a Master and a Student. So yeah, I'll allow you to make two characters so long as you feel you can keep up. After my last roleplay flopped, my goal is to keep this one going until the very end, so I don't want people skipping out on me half way through if it gets to be too much work. And yes Maye, you most certainly can! I'd like to have a good balance, so I'll let you guys know now, my Master will be part of the Defensive school and at least well-versed in two of the disciplines and on her way to learning about the third. In addition, my Student will be of the Aggressive school and controls Water in his right hand and Lightning in his left (he'll have specific reasons as to why he's taken on two elements. I have a massive day ahead of me, with full of lectures, tutorials, commuting and work. But while I'm at Uni today, I'm going to try and finish off the Master's profile. Can't wait to see what you guys have got!!!

Let's say between 15-20. It's really up to you. They don't all have to be beginners, but I'd like at least one other than my own. The Master is complete, so assuming the uni internet holds out, I'll put her up once I've found a suitable picture. EDIT: In addition, whilst she is a Defensive Master, she will be teaching everyone in the group. Edited by Blue, March 29, 2012, 1:16 am.

Name: Arumat - Last Name(Forgotten) Age: 16 Gender: Male School: Aggressive Discipline: Magic Weapon Personality: Stoic, such a good word to describe Arumat. Due to his undeveloped and unused spectrum of emotions Arumat has difficulty communicating with the correct emotional ques in many situations. What he was taught was hatred for his enemies and arrogance for the weak. Happiness and love are completely foreign concepts to Arumat, the closest thing he could even consider to being happy was when he would receive praises for excellence in performance. Joining the mages was probably the most fundamentally conflicting action Arumat had ever faced. In fact, for almost a month Arumat only watched the group from a distance starving himself when he could not secure his own food. As time passed though he realized that if he were to survive he would need their help to master this magic that could save his life and secure his new future. History: Arumat, a young man that, due to horrid circumstances lost his past and his foreseeable future all in one night. Born to a young couple, Arumat was given to the Empire for a youth soldier training program that had been the condition for the bloodline for avoiding the Purge those years ago. The program, while small taught young children the art of wielding a weapon against a foe -or friend- and mages that had escaped the Purge. Raised in barracks the children were taught that magic was an abomination and that anyone seen using it without sealed approval from Imperial authority should be slain without trial. Alongside their combat training the children were taught the Empire's specific educational courses and whatever falsities that lie within were in fact truth. With this kind of teaching the children learned that the Empire was a great and mighty power that none could stand against and that anyone who might stand against it was nothing more than a fool. As a last test for the children, they were sent out to search for their birth families and slay them in cold blood. This would be the first step in controlling the children in the future, by cutting off the very first emotional connection a child has they make them much more compliant to commands and less likely to riot when absurd orders come down the line. Dropped in his home town, Arumat spent two days searching for the people that were suppose to be his birth parents. On the second night he stumbled across the house where his parent were staying and from an unprotected window saw that the parents were enjoying an evening meal with a much younger child. He had been abandoned and replaced so easily, the shock was too great for the emotionally untrained boy and breaking the floodgate of his innate magics formed a deep blue scythe. Breaking into the home he killed all three members of the family letting his hatred of the two irresponsible beings fuel his body as he severed their limbs one at a time and threw them around the home. As his rampage subsided it occurred to Arumat that he had broken the number one rule in the program, those that use magic are abominations and must be killed. This was the greatest inner conflict he had faced, he hadn't been brainwashed enough to so easily throw away his life for nothing yet he wasn't so free-willed as to simply escape to another country. Instead, he went into the wilds of the kingdom. Surviving on the bare essentials until he was found and taken in by a small group of mages. Being surrounded by the abominations he was told to kill on sight was something confounding to him. Could he trust something that had been labeled as evil by the Empire? Only time would tell. Now, because I'm an obsessive and thorough derp, I've decided I'm making three characters - one in each School. Never done this before; should be interesting. Besides, if it gets too much, I suppose I could always kill one off. |

Name: Master Mirenai Age: 29 – Shall turn 30 on the first day of training. Gender: Female School: Master of the Defensive School. Discipline: Mirenai utilises all three of the Defensive disciplines, and has varying skill in each of them. She mastered Magic Wards by age 18, is well versed in the art of Enchanting and since her promotion to the rank of Master, has since taken up Adaptability. Personality: Mirenai is a strong and independent woman who has enough confidence in her ability to know that teaching the next generation is something that should be well within her capacity to do. She has a very obsessive personality in that she freaks out over the slightest injuries sustained by anyone other than herself. If she scrapes a knee – it’s no big deal. If one of her students scrapes their knee, you’d swear the world was ending. If someone were to describe her with one word, it’d be “overprotective”. Mirenai is a sweet and gentle soul, and knows how to care of those she cares about. Her one weakness is her family – and that’s not exclusive to those related by blood; she counts her students as family too. It was obvious from the start where she was going to end up and which school she was going to be assigned. They almost didn’t make her run the test since they’d been so sure. This doesn’t by any chance label her a pushover though. Anyone who thought so was in for a rude awakening. The Master has an aggressive side, especially when her family is in jeopardy. She also knows how to handle brats and is a top-notch leader. Finally, a rather large scar adorns her body that begins at the corner of her right eye and reaches all the way down to… well, no one knows. Mirenai is always full clad in her mage armour and it covers her body from neck to toe with only a gap in the midriff – it can be seen that the scar certainly passes this point. Many do not dare ask her, out of respect, and Mirenai appreciates that more than anyone realises. Each Mage carries with them their own scars – both physically and otherwise. And hers are too many to count. When it comes to combat, as it should be, Mirenai is in the middle of the action and guarding everyone with all of her will. There’s no such thing as “too much work” when lives are on the line. History: Mirenai’s history will be revealed throughout the story, little by little – including her origins, her training and the many hardships that she had to battle through to get to where she stands in the present day. Is this alright? Name: Gregory of Jolon (Also answers to Gregor, or just Greg.) Age: 16 Gender: male School: Supportive Discipline: Alchemy Personality: Gregory is a rather gloomy fellow - he seems to carry a rain-cloud above his head wherever he goes. You can always sense when he enters a room because, suddenly, the atmosphere will start to feel heavy and awkward. He is often engulfed by his own self-pity, and is generally perceived as a pathetic kind of person by his peers. He does not like to be among people, but does not revel in isolation. Despite his introversion, he longs for companionship, and understanding. He is a rather deep and sensitive soul and enjoys daydreaming during class. He has an affinity for birds - particularly ravens - and monarch butterflies. Despite his brooding, pessimistic nature, Gregory can often be inadvertently hilarious to his peers because of his exuberant, awkward ways and tendency to mess up on his alchemy studies. He is the butt of many jokes to students and faculty alike. Even though he is seen as a loner, deep down, he really does wish for friendship, but can only seem to find it with animals, and not people. History: One might assume that, because of Gregory's obvious depression, that he must have suffered from some great tragedy, growing up. In reality, Gregory's life has been mainly uneventful, and actually had a rather pleasant childhood surrounded by a group of supportive and loving family. He grew up in a small, impoverished village known as Jolon, or "The Valley of Dead Trees". There, with his family, Gregory learned how to read (his mother was a bit of a bibliophile, and had a collection of scraps and sections of books, but only one entire novel,) and how to play hand ball - although, he was never as good as his siblings. It wasn't until he discovered an article on Jābir ibn Hayyān, a famous, eastern alchemist, that he actually ever really showed interest in anything. Realizing the opportunity for Gregory to make something of himself, his parents decided to send him to study alchemy, at the academy. He misses his family deeply, and wishes that he could go back and see them, but knows that he needs to stay to please his family, and hopefully improve their state of living. This will be his second year at the academy. Appearance: Gregory is tall and unsightly - he stretches to about 6'1" and is incredibly lanky. Because of this thinness, his twig-like arms seem too long for his body, and his hands, far too large for his wrists. His pale, slender fingers always have impeccably manicured nails. He has large feet. His face, although blemished, is not innately ugly, and actually seems to hold a sort of androgynous quality to it. However, because of an injury sustained to his nose during his childhood (his brother accidentally hit his nose with a rock - it never healed correctly), he has a large bump in the center of his nose, which gives a beak-like impression. His eyes are blue-gray with yellow flakes in them. underneath his eyes, he has deep, purple-black bruises that come from a combination of both sleep deprivation and iron deficiency caused by poor diet. His cheeks cave in slightly. There is virtually no color in his complexion, except for the ugly purplish hue of bruises, and jaundice in certain areas. His lips are perpetually chapped, and the corners of his mouth droop down slightly in a frown. His hair is straight and jet black. He cuts it frequently, and doesn't let it get past the nape of his neck. As for clothing, Gregory likes black, and only owns one pair of leather moccasins. |
