:: Ah, the multiverse. An interesting place. An interesting place to explore, and an EASY place to get lost...or stuck. Such was the case with our poor wanderer, he had been with an adventuring party and the group's mage forgot to mention that it was that time of the month, and all he had done was make one little snarky remark about her attitude that morning. Unfortunately, this had more than disrupted the moody mage's concentration...and so, he was pretty much shunted off to the middle of nowhere due to a botched warp spell with no way of getting back, and wasn't likely going to have one until they had to time to find his wayward ass. :: Hurrikane Hektor: Uuuuuggghhh..... :: A palm slides across his face. :: Hurrikane Hektor: (Thinking) If she was trying to put me off teleportation magic FOREVER, she's done it. She....DONE it. DONE it well. I didn't even land somewhere...with.....FIGHTING or something! It's peace everywhere! :: He had begun to approach a village that looked like it had a potential distraction or two...a fair. At least the technology levels were a little more close to home! None of those crazy....flying machines, and objects that were smart like people.... :: Hurrikane Hektor: (Thinking) Perfect! Surely if this village's people aren't complete pansies, they'll have a place for some sparring! EVERYONE has blood sports at a festival where I come from! :: He runs into the festival grounds, and smack in the middle of it was a flat field without any bothersome bystanders in it. Good. That's perfect too. Stepping inside, he begins sizing up the guards, any obvious-looking mercs, ruffians, ANYONE that looked like they could punch back without crying when they got hit... :: Edited by Stiletto, March 4, 2012, 8:48 am.

I am a demon... No matter what I do there's no escaping that little fact. Most of the time Jaq accepted his lineage, if not their way of life. His bike roared across the dreamscape aimlessly. So many minds, he could sense them all. Some felt more appetizing than others. Lucky for him Jaq had eaten his fill of souls for the coming months. Suddenly he sensed something unknown to him, which in the dream world was nigh impossible. He accelerated the bike to speeds that were simply impossible anywhere else. He could feel himself nearing the disturbance. It was energy- dream energy to be exact- but of a wholly unfamiliar flavor. it was complex and distorted and new. Jaq's body began to vibrate as he was exposed to more of it. Jaq focused for a moment and his outfit changed in response to his mood. Bare chested, showing off his tattoo, and wearing black and grey camo pants with black combat boots. As always his clothes were easy to remove and didn't restrict motion. Jaq wanted a good fight, in response to this he willed a black belt into existence that held his hallucinogen canisters and 13 extra ammo clips. 6 for mako, 6 for the jester, and one clip for Amy. The buckle of the belt also had an extra charge battery for Amy's bayonet attached to it. As an added touch he willed a chain necklace with a small pouch/pendant. In it was one bullet and a small engraving tool. With that his knives came into existence, one in each boot and the other two strapped to each bicep. He drove towards the disturbance, the strange energy compelling him onward until- It was as if he ceased to exist... then existed again. The colors of the dreamscape were strangely inverted and the dreams he sensed were unfamiliar and alien. This was not his dream world. he kept driving, what was this place? What minds had dreams like these? What disturbed him most was not the differences to dreams he knew, but the similarities. The similarities made them feel that much more foreign. That was it, time to get out of there. If he could go back to the real world maybe he could get back into the reality he knew... But he feared what would happen when he willed himself into reality. He somehow thought that it wouldn't be the world he knew that he willed himself into. The bike roared and the dreamscape faded. Jaq was in a field at some sort of festival... But it wasn't on the Earth he knew. There was a strange figure standing in the field. "Hey buddy!" The incubus called out in his almost musically sensual voice. "Where am I?" As a demon hunter Jaq was accustomed to making the occasional spectacle, so onlookers be damned. |

:: Hektor guffaws at the sight of the ridiculously-dressed man, following it up with a spit onto the ground. :: Hurrikane Hektor: In the wrong place, pretty boy, cause this is an arena with a very big and nasty warrior in it with you. :: He swings his sword around a little bit before launching it into the air with a burst of telekinetic power, and it went quite a bit higher than any human could have ever dreamed of before it came back down. It was one of his favorite gestures, one that stated clearly "Don't get your ass kicked, sweet cheeks, cause I'm super-powered ". :: Hurrikane Hektor: (Thinking) And there we go...hehe just like that, work his ego a bit, get him in the mood for a scrap cause Gods know I'm seriously bored here.... :: He carefully eyes each movement this could-be opponent might make, though...it only took being wrenched under the dominating grip of a creepy-looking little girl once for him to learn the valuable lesson of not gauging your opponent's strength on looks alone. :: Edited by Stiletto, March 4, 2012, 10:21 am.

Jaq look at the weird man with the sword. He just stood there laughing like a fool. Jaq raised an eyebrow, was this guy for real? The pretty boy comment didn't faze him, Jaq knew he was a little too good looking by human standards. No, it was the whole "real warrior" thing. The hell did he mean by that? Jaq's eyes followed the sword's trip in the sky... So there was something to his superior attitude. The guy didn't look like one of the monsters he usually though... Jaq disregarded that- this guy was obviously looking for a fight and at the moment Jaq was more than happy to oblige. But first he had to make his potential opponent aware of exactly what he was facing. He climbed off of his bike, speaking as he did. "Heh, I don't think you're my type buddy... But as far as a fight goes..." He opened the bag on the side of his bike and pulled out The Jester. Without looking he raised it and fired into the crowd. His bullet blew out the adam's apple of one of the bystanders. He crumpled, Jaq didn't bother looking to admire his handiwork. "I wonder how experienced you are against devils?" Jaq slung Amy over his shoulder, pocketed The Jester, took Mako out of the bag, and turned back to the swordsman. "But first, what's your name?" He asked, pocketing Mako in such a way that drawing and firing would take no more than half a second. Then he reached into his neck pouch and took out the bullet and etching tool. It was gonna be a fun 5 minutes, and Jaq hadn't even decided if he'd let the poor sap live yet. |

:: Hektor looked both shocked and amused (but not unnerved!) at the sudden gesture. :: Hurrikane Hektor: Hardcore, little man....bahaha! My name is Hektor Morgan, stranger. :: His demeanor seemed to markedly improve. Finally he'd met someone his type around here! People were so squeamish about death wherever he seemed to travel. It's not like it's a big deal, you fight, you die, you go to heaven and fight some more. Did it really matter if you were fighting here or there? :: Hurrikane Hektor: Now as for whether or not I've fought devils, in my experience every time I fight something that calls itself a "devil" it's something different. Kinda like when they call themselves vampires...about the only thing certain then is you can bet the bastard's after your blood! :: Hektor eyes the guns. Guns.....why is it always guns? By the Gods guns were the most annoying weapons since crossbows came out. No matter....the exact same thing that worked against crossbows worked against bullets too...you just had to be more clever about using deflection and angles. He subtly alters the angle of the barriers protecting his body for deflection, something he'd be able to fine tune after a couple of hits. :: Edited by Stiletto, March 6, 2012, 5:21 am.

Jaq chuckled. He appreciated something about this guy's straightforward nature. It was refreshing, no need to mince words or hide intentions. He lightly etched the name into the side of his bullet with a practiced hand. It would still fire, yet the name was clearly visible. "Well Hektor Morgan. My name is Jacquelin Ashli Amornan, I am an incubus. And I've just etched your name into the side of this bullet." He held the bullet up to the light, not caring whether or not Hektor could make out the name." Jaq removed the pouch and placed it along with the etching tool in the bike's "saddlebag." Drawing The Jester with a practiced hand he quickly ejected the clip and added the altered bullet. He reinserted the, now full, clip and, moving to draw Mako, deftly grabbed a can of hallucinogen- which wouldn't affect him as it just didn't work on demons of his class or higher- triggered it, and sidearmed it onto the ground two feet in front of Hektor. The gas released immediately. In the next quarter second Jaq had drawn Mako. Another second and he had taken a position well behind and to the left of his bike. And Jaq wasn't even moving top speed yet. All the while he had cold eyes trained on his target. If the man made a move Jaq didn't like, Mako would be tearing a two foot hole in the center of his chest as Jester turned his brain to smoothie. And he managed to look dead sexy doing it. :: His brain's computer automatically calculates, based off of the pattern of intensity of blurriness in the image his eyes had transmitted, that it was in fact most likely his name on the side of the bullet. Fun with biotechnology and cybernetics! :: Hurrikane Hektor: I bet you think that was pretty clever, boy, but now that I know how big those bullets are, I get a rough idea of how strong they're probably gonna be, so thanks for the tip. :: They were fighting! Scrap time! Fortunately by now, much of the fair had by this point panicked and run off, but so had his opponent, although not for lack intention to fight him. He was one of those gun users that had that annoying tendency to run away whenever you got too close, but would very ably rip you to shreds if you didn't chase after them. :: Hurrikane Hektor: (Thinking) I guess I better chase after him then. :: He lacked a quick enough eye to fully follow the speedier types like this guy, but he could see a canister coming his way and knew that they generally either contained some kind of substance he wouldn't want any part of, or just outright exploded somehow and he wouldn't want any part of that either. Fortunately, there was a way to clobber two men with one punch here by simply combining running away from whatever this canister was going to be when it went off, with running toward the pretty boy to give him a good smashing for that kinda stunt. :: :: Now, he had to do so in a very specific way. He lacked the mental coordination to move his body really fast, but he had the power necessary to make up for it. What he lacked in ability to move his legs fast he had in the ability to simply LUNGE with tremendous force in any direction he wanted, in the capacity to change his velocity mid-flight via his telekinesis. This had the added advantage of allowing him to take up defensive postures mid-flight. And so he does, with a mighty, low-angled bound (juiced up by a burst of TK, of course!), he leaps through the air superman style, keeping his blade flat and parallel to the plane his body was positioned for maximum coverage. He then focused his barriers frontward and angled them so that any bullets that came his way would either meet his sword, or be deflected away at an angle. Even if he couldn't bound away from the canister fast enough, his barriers were designed to keep out anything and everything, including air, and even failing that tended to have a robust physiology that resisted that kind of stuff a bit before it kicked in. :: Edited by Stiletto, March 6, 2012, 4:19 pm.

(Sorry bout the delay.) Jaq chuckled but his eyes remained steel. Just because they were .45 caliber bullets said little about the gun, especially for Mako. But he didn't have too much time to be amused as his opponent seemed to fly at him, sword pointed. Jaq did however have plenty of time to react, with his finely tuned reflexes and level head. He had aimed and pulled the triggers the instant he registered what was going on, intending to cripple his opponents shoulders but the bullets were deflected. Jaq leaped and did a midair somersault out of the way of the oncoming opponent he fired one shot from Mako and two from jester, testing a quickly formed theory. Yep, seemed like barrier magic. Okay- That was annoying but a good thing. The hallucinogen had now began deploying in force. Mako had eleven bullets in the clip, Jester had ten. It was a good start, Jaq was pacing himself. He really needed to work out a good bottomless clip spell though. In dream-reality he could go through hundreds of bullets every minute. Behind and to the left of his opponent Jaq fired two rounds from Mako at the big lug's feet. In another 4 seconds the hallucinogen would cover a twenty foot area 8 feet high. It was a lavender colored gas that smelled of jasmine and ice. It would cause an intense detachment from reality and always caused hallucinations in those it affected. It didn't dissipate quickly either. Hopefully it would at least mess with Hektor's perceptions. |

:: Damn! Quick little bastard! His opponent leaps out of the way before he could slice him in half with a flying version of a guillotine. That was always good when that happened...always loved it. But what he DIDN'T love were the high-angled shots coming at his feet, which his barriers couldn't deflect, only absorb. This taxes his psionic power to the limit...if he tried to push any more psionics out this turn, he'd damage his own brain from the strain. :: Hurrikane Hektor: Outrun this, little coward!! :: Hektor grips a great big chunk of mortar from the house Jac was standing next to (and Hektor was about to unbuild for him!), pulling himself to a stop and ripping it out of the in one motion, proceeding to bash it with inhuman force so that it literally sent a shotgun-like spray of multi-sized shrapnel Jac's way. While he was doing this, he puts up a weak barrier around himself to keep the gas out...fortunately, that didn't take much strength at all, given the equalized pressure and all... :: Hurrikane Hektor: (Thinking) I might get some damage in with this one, he's mid-air and unless he's got wings or some crazy power hidden away there, he shouldn't have any way of maneuverin' until he lands... :: Hektor prepares to run out of the massive gas cloud, a small pool of blood beginning to form in the warrior's left eye...that was always the first to act up, that one... :: Edited by Stiletto, March 8, 2012, 1:28 pm.

Jaq sighed, which was a bit comical as everything seemed to be in slow motion to him. As he had expected the barrier spell or whatever it was stopped his bullets, but in a different way than they had before. The force of his shots just seemed to be absorbed. It seemed a little counter intuitive as stopping a bullet would require more energy than deflecting one. He was piecing together the shape of the invisible shield in his mind. While he doubted that it had a definite shape, it seemed to be prismatic. It also seemed that the feet were a weak point as more energy was being expended to protect them. Unfortunately he didn't have much more time to think as action was required. The was no dodging the shotgun blast of cement headed for him, that left him only one course of action. He blinked- in that time he metabolized a soul. He felt its power suffuse his body, then drain away to fuel his demon magic. He made the incoming attack into a dream. The stones passed through him, not causing any damage to his body, but he gritted his teeth as his mind experience the pain of the attack. He knew it was a dream though and that allowed his to curl his mind into a little ball of strength, minimizing the mental fatigue caused. Despite that Jaq was panting as he landed. He pocketed his pistolsand swung Amy off his back and into his hands. he flicked the trigger guard for automatic fire- he wanted to test this barrier more but first. He grabbed another canister of hallucinogen and tossed it into the air, with a calculated squeeze he fired exactly one round into the can, causing the can to burst and instantly deploy its pressurize contents into the air. It wouldn't deploy as well but it was quick and would help speed up this guy's hallucinations. He darted back, putting more distance between himself and Hektor. "Come on, tough guy. Let's make this a mind game." Edited by Poise&Poison, March 22, 2012, 10:44 pm.

(OOC: Oh! I hadn't realized you had edited in your post. How foolish of me.) :: With a little bit of mental examination, Jaq's cunning and intellect would be able to correctly suss out a few details: The barriers took on the shape of 2D rectangular planes, and their orientation in 3d space and physical dimensions seemed to be modified on the fly by the psion. The barriers were not a static defense like most of it's kind, but in fact a dynamic part of both the psion's offense and defense. However, the barriers relied much on deflection for their ability to protect, so the more direct the angle the bullet hits the barrier, the more energy the barrier has to absorb to stop the projectile. :: Hurrikane Hektor: Son of a bitch, of course you'd have voodoo powers too! You're the dirtiest fighter in existence! ....oh well, I guess I can respect that, right? Hahaha! :: Hektor reshaped his barriers into two forms: a weak, cube-shaped one encapsulating his entire body to keep out any air, and a strong body-sized one up front composed of two planes meeting together at a 90 degree angle to deflect oncoming bullets. He takes retreat behind the very house he tore a chunk out of as the initial salvo of bullets are handled by the barriers, being careful to keep the barriers orientated so that any shots coming his way came head on. Meanwhile, he formulates a battle strategy. :: Hektor: (Thinking) Ok, with all of his powers and guns and crap, there's no way I'm gonna be able to score a quick victory. But, how long can the little bugger keep it up, I wonder? Lotta guys seem real badass until you run the rounds with'em. :: One of Hektor's greatest merits was his capacity to fight...and fight...and fight...and fight...having both the endurance and durability required to relentlessly engage opponent after opponent. When he couldn't directly defeat an opponent, more often than not could he simply outlast him. With that in mind, he rips out a body-sized chunk of wall from the house he was taking cover behind and begins slowly advancing toward Jac. Every layer of protection counts! He was careful to keep an eye on his oxygen supply, though: he wouldn't be able to keep THAT up for long! :: Edited by Stiletto, March 26, 2012, 5:32 am.

Jaq chuckled, but his eyes remained steel. "Voodidoo? Haha, did you expect an incubus to fight clean? You're one to talk with that crazy barrier magic." It was definitely time to start playing real dirty- Jaq hated when his opponents went on the defense. It meant he had to pick them off. It actually made it a bit harder to leave them alive. Jaq popped off six rounds as Hektor was tearing out the chunk of wall. As expected the barriers were handling them excellently. His first instinct was to try and overtax the barrier but there was no guarantee that was even possible, although Jaq had a hunch it was. That meant Jaq merely had to be smart about it. He started working out three battle strategies, including points where he could most easily change strategies without losing the upper hand. Jaq knew he couldn't fight forever- he was built to be effective and take out his targets most effectively- his dream powers were what let him run the rounds but they weren't in the dream world... Hektor was advancing, he truly was a monster for his stamina. Definitely not someone to underestimate. Strategy two was put on the back burner, Jaq would need to look Hektor in the eyes for that one. Just needed to get rid of the wall chunk. Jaq fired three of the high powered rounds in order to test the integrity of the chunk- it should cause some damage but there was no way it'd fully destroy it- although Mako could after a few close up rounds. Strategy one: Jaq put more distance between himself and his opponent. He needed to work some dream magic. He had to use the probability shot, in dreams laws of reality didn't apply with this little spell his bullets v=could act as they did in a dream, speeding up, slowing down, incredible ricochets, even changing direction. Unfortunately the magic was infused into the bullets upon being fired and would wear off after a few seconds. Jaq metabolized a third of a soul- that was all he figured it should take. He worked a tether between the magic and Le Jeune Amelie. He flicked the trigger guard- the gun would now fire three round bursts. He fired at a wall to the side of Hektor- the bullets bounced off the wall, leaving a trail of purple energy as they moved, before flying towards Hektor. He then concentrated on one of the marks his bullets had made near the middle of the wall chunk. He pulled the trigger- three bullets left the barrel- trailing purple energy. They struck the wall chunk simultaneously, directly in the mark he set. He had about three more bursts before he had used all the spell's energy. 9 more bullets. He needed to keep putting distance between himself and his opponent as well. Hopefully not everyone had run from the conflict- else he'd be hunting someone down before long. |

:: Hektor, having gotten much of Jaq's movements on "film" by now, so to speak, was beginning to become exceedingly efficient at reading his movements, another component of his "outlast the enemy" kit. He still lacked the speed to do anything about it, but at least no surprises this time. :: Hektor: (Thinking) Aim change, off course, probably deflecting and hitting flank. What a clever little fucker, but I've had that one done to me a million times. :: Blamblamblam. Right on schedule, his barrier takes the full of the bullets' kinetic energy, depleting a disheartening amount of it's energy and leaving little to withstand the barrage coming up front. If he were only a little quicker...unfortunately, reflexes could not be boosted by his TK like his agility could, and represented a true weakness in the warrior. :: Hektor: (Thinking) And now a few more in the front. I'm not counting on this concrete holding up, nor am I counting on his bullets not having some kind of strange voodoo bewitchments...better burnout on this one. :: Burnout time!! Hektor maintains his barrier strong, Jaq's second barrage blasting through the concrete as anticipated and slamming into his barrier, albeit at an easily-deflected angle, nonetheless Jaq would see Hektor begin a stumble a bit as blood began pouring from his eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. He breaks the "concrete" barrier in half where the bullets had blasted through and holds them up at a 90 degree angle to help cover his sides better, setting them down and bunkering up for a moment. He then makes a grab for a healing potion and attempts to drink it from behind his concealment, hopefully the fog of war should leave Jaq none the wiser. He was also going to have to go for air next round...hopefully Jaq wouldn't realize that either! :: (OOC: Slight edit for clarity, he's breaking the CONCRETE barrier in half.) Jaq had seen Hektor's tactics before. he was bunkering down. That meant something was going right. The chances that it was a trap were minimal... Perhaps there was a way to warp a bullet inside the giant's barriers but Jaq's skill with spacial magic was limited... maybe it was time for a dreamscape? Something was wrong... Jaq started to close in, he could always fall back later. He focused and squeezed the trigger. The three bullets spiraled around each other like a drill as they simultaneously impacted the the shield head on. Jaq fired again and charged- his opponent was up to something behind that barrier and Jaq wanted to use the lull to try and over load the barrier. He was saving the last salvo of dream bullets as a last resort. He also prepared another soul to be metabolized in case it actually was a trap. It was a perfect bayonet charge, perfect rifle-stylized gunkata technique he developed himself. He felt the bayonet impact a perfectly flat and unyeilding surface- like no other barrier he had ever encountered. He flicked his thumb and unleashed a massive charge of electricity onto the barrier. He leaped back, his opponent was attempting to drink something. He was also bleeding heavily from his facial orifices... Psionics- that explained everything. A psionic individual was very rare- and this was obviously not a vampire. "Tricky bastard." Jaq tossed a can of hallucinogen on the ground in front of him, and in a smooth motion pulled The Jester and fired causing the can to explode- the gas of course was was non-flammable but the force of releasing its preesurized contents got a few small pieces of metal lodged in his torso. It hurt a bit but wouldn't really hinder him. The soul was still readied for metabolization and fast spellcasting. |

:: The shots coming from up front, once again, were readily deflected by the barrier without too much strain, however the concrete up front had been more or less blown away by this point, leaving Jac to slam into his barrier. Discharging electricity into it, Jac would come across another revelation about the barrier...it did not physically exist at all! The barrier was simply an energy field, not dissimilar to a magnetic field, that caused most matter passing through it to experience a quick jolt of kinetic energy from a specific direction. You couldn't zap this barrier any more than you could zap the gravity pulling you down! :: :: That said, you COULD pass electricity through the barrier's field, but the electrons would be deflected away as much as anything else. This would, of course, tax the barrier's strength, and presuming the electrical attack was substantial, it would overload most of not all of the rest of the barrier's strength. Fortunately, Jac had not followed up that attack with anything else, and Hektor had managed to wolf down his potion, feeling in tip-top shape again...not that a bit of burnout bothered him all that much. It was just a bit of blood! :: Hurrikane Hektor: (Thinking) Ok, running low on breath, time to... :: He swallows hard. Wasn't easy to consider! :: Hurrikane Hektor: (Thinking) Time to retreat from the little bastard for a bit. Gotta air up! :: He didn't have any psionics to spare, and Jac was too fast to counter-attack against, so Hektor lets his strength be his greatest virtue here, running off toward the next house with his re-positioned concrete barriers and jumping through the window, using a tiny bit of TK to unlock and open it as he approached. The houses, while somewhat medieval, were reasonably well-built, and provided all of the windows and doors were closed the air inside was pure, if not mostly so. That could be shrugged off by his intense grit. With his bubble refilled, it was time to get back into it! :: Hurrikane Hektor: Come and get me, pretty boy! :: He closes the window and takes up fort. Despite his best efforts, approaching this opponent out in the open was just unfeasible without any kind of ranged weapon of his own. He'd have to force his opponent to close in on HIM instead... :: Hurrikane Hektor: (Thinking) I'll just sit right here until he decides to waste more of his bullets or little gas canisters! |
