A soft whisper of wind rustled the colorful leaves of the tree. Scents of hot apple cider and pumpkin pie floated through the air. Autumn, it reminded her of Halloween, pumpkin carving, trick-or-treating, football games, Thanksgiving, family, turkey and lastly, her mom's freshly baked pumpkin pie. Autumn always reminded her of home, its been 10 years and Destiny missed home more then ever. Destiny sat against a tall maple tree with her sketchpad and open and her pencil hard at work ans she sketched the trees starting to loose their leaves. It was slightly chilly but it didn't phase her, being dead and all, the weather didn't really bother her, it was always cold to her. She looked up and into the distance at the merry sound of two robins in the distance, they were so happy, most living animals were. |

"Jordan, be good 'til I get home. I'm just going out to get some air. You know the rules," David reminded his brother. He popped earphones in, walked out the door, and locked it. The key was stuck into his pocket and he walked to the woods near his home. The autumn air was brisk, yet soothing through his hoodie. Things had been a little stressful that morning and he needed something to calm him a little. Jordan was being a nuisance and flat out refusing to listen to David, and he was getting sick of it. The music helped distract him though. He sang along, real quietly, to some parts and tried matching the pace and almost danced for others. He didn't really bother paying attention to where he was going. Just letting his feet wherever they wanted to go. He would worry about where he was at later. After nearly walking into a tree, David figured now would be a good time to actually pay attention. He put his iPod into his pocket and continued walking around. Not long afterwards, he spotted a girl drawing. Curious, he moved closer. 'She looks kinda lonely. Maybe she would like some company. Oh, don't kid yourself. She is kinda cute and you want company,' he mused. Regardless, he went to see if she would allow his presence. "Mind if I butt in?" |

Destiny was too distracted by her drawing to bother looking up to see who or what was making the foot step noise. It didn't matter, they would just past by and go on their way. ""Mind if I butt in?", the breathing being before her spoke. It caught her off guard and she dropped her sketchbook and pencil. Destiny's eyes looked up and then behind her to see who this strange boy was talking to. No one was behind her. "Are you t-talking to me?" She managed to stammer out. How the hell could he see her? She could hear the pounding of her heart through her ears and she stared at this cite boy in front on her. Edited by CrazyBeliever, August 29, 2011, 2:30 am.

'Crap! I didn't mean to scare her!' David quickly bent down to get her things and held them up for her. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to startle you...I thought you would have heard me," he looked away apologetically, causing him to miss the girl checking for other people. He mentally chastised himself, but stopped midway when she asked if he was talking to her. A quick look around assured him there was, indeed, no one else around. "Umm...yeah? If you want, I can leave you alone. I really am sorry for scaring you, though. Maybe we can try again?" A smile lit his face and he stuck out a hand to shake. "The name's David," he declared. |

Destiny looked at David. 'He could hear me too!? She quickly took her sketchpad careful not to brush his fingers. He must think I'm alive. Destiny looked at the boy, he was really sorry he scared me, plus he seemed nice. "I didn't mean to get startled," She said with a little laugh. " I'm Destiny," she declared and waved a hello instead of a shake, she didn't want to risk scaring him. What was she doing, tricking the innocent boy? No, she thought to her self, I'm just not scaring him. Destiny wasn't sure how he could see her, but she was determined to figure it out, and not freak the kid out. |

David looked to his outstretched hand with a frown. 'Okay then...' He quickly wiped away the frown and looked back to the girl. Destiny. It was a nice name. The stupid thought of the coincidence that both of their names started with the letter "d" popped into his head, and, without thinking, he said, "That's pretty cool. Our names start with the same letter." A smile stayed on his face, but in his head he was thinking of how stupid he was to even say that. 'It isn't like no one else's name starts with a "d" dufus!' He wasn't sure what to say now, so he made do with small-talk. "So um... do you live around here?" |

Destiny saw the disappointment in his face when she didn't shake his hand, but she didn't want to risk it. Destiny covered her laugh with a nod as he pointed out the obvious. Both their names did start with 'D'. "Ya, I do, she replied to his typical small talk question. It wasn't completely a lie, yes she stayed here, no she didn't live, because to live some where you have to be alive and she obviously wasn't."Do you?" she asked, not wanting to really talk about the subject of her living. |

The smile was more genuine now. The earlier disappointment vanished, and David was just glad the girl hadn't sent him away yet. 'Well, good. At least I know she isn't lost. Then again, I doubt she would be calmly draw if she was lost...' He looked around and shrugged to answer her question. "I guess it depends on how you define 'here.' I just went for a walk and I haven't been walking for long, I don't think, so my house shouldn't be too far. If you get cold or something I can take you there and make some hot cocoa. My kid brother loves that stuff," he offered. Not long after saying it, David realized that was a stupid offer. She lived nearby. Why would she want to go to his house? "Er...sorry. Never mind. So what'cha drawin' anyway? I didn't look at it because I wasn't sure you would be okay with that..." |

Destiny looked at David. The kid was sweet. Destiny smiled charmingly at him. His blue eyes somehow sent a chill down her back. Hot Chocolate sounds nice, but its not cold enough yet, She replied trying ease the tension. He was somewhat awkward, but for some odd reason she liked it. I was just... um... drawing the scenery," She always was shy about her art. |

A chuckle escaped before David could suppress it. "Try telling that to Jordan," he mumbled. Having thought of Jordan, he checked his watch. 'Yikes! Have I been away that long already?' His worry was blatantly obvious. However, he just sighed and smiled apologetically. "I'm sorry. I have to watch my brother. Could I possibly have your number? Maybe we can get together and you can show me your art sometime?" He had already pulled out his phone and was getting ready to put Destiny's number in. There was no telling what his brother was doing without him and he was a little antsy about getting back. |

Destiny couldn't help but laugh with him when he started to chuckle. For a moment Destiny thought Jordan was his girl friend, then she remembered that he had a little brother. Jordan must be his little brother. The bright sun was starting to descend the sky leaving behind a glories display of color. Destiny was caught of guard by his question.Could I possibly have your number? The question rang through her head like an alarm. What was she gonna do? She didn't have a cell phone, She didn't have a house or anything that involved interacting with people, because well, she never could. Destiny racked her brain to find a reply to the question before her."Um, Well I kinda don't have a cell phone," Destiny explained,"Maybe we could just meet again here, say Tuesday?" Great, now she was gonna have to think like she was alive, and remember what day it was.There was so much going on, so much to take in. First, this David boy, could see and hear her! He was the only one who could. David was obviously alive, and he thought that she was alive. She didn't know why he could or why she felt somehow connect to him. One thing she was sure of, was that she was not going to let him find out she was dead, that would freak him out. that meant no touching and no meeting in public. Destiny had her work cut out for her. |

Odd. Most people had a phone. David just shrugged it off though. It wasn't too uncommon after all. He smiled at Destiny and nodded. His phone made it back into his pocket. A frown quickly replaced the smile. "Problem. I was just wandering. I don't know how to get back here. Do you think you could follow me home so we can meet on the edge there?" Ugh. He did not like that. He seemed like a creeper. He sighed. Oh well. It isn't like he can do anything about it. Destiny interested him and he wanted to see her again. |

Destiny was unsure how he would respond to her not having a cell phone. She looked down twiddling he thumbs, unsure what to do. When she looked up at David when he began to talk again. The sunlight reflected around his blond hair and view was breath-taking, that is if she could breath. David wanted me to follow him home... that's not creeper like at all. Destiny couldn't stop a chuckle that escaped from her closed lips. Immediately after she felt embarrassed for the laugh. "Um, I guess I could..." she replied trying to cover up her awkwardness. |

David let his relief shine through. At least she trusted him a little. "Alright, the easiest way would be to get out of here and follow the road. I need to hurry, though. Try to keep up, but I will wait if I get too far ahead," he said, trying not to sound too bossy. He waited to make sure he was ready and then took off through the woods. In his rush, David nearly tripped on some thorny bushes. Luckily, he caught himself and wasn't harmed. He flashed a smile Destiny's way to let her know he was fine. After some travel, they got to the road. It was easy spotting David's house from there. He hadn't gone that far at all. "C'mon. It's this one right over here," he said with a wave. He led the rest of the way and led Destiny up the porch. "You can come in and rest for a minute or two, if you want. Jordan is the only one here right now. Dad probably won't be home 'til late..." He pulled out his key and began to unlock the door. |

Destiny nodded unsure of what to do, she didn't want him to be seen talking to her in public, because then people may think he is crazy. When David turned to head off, she almost reached out her hand to help him not get hurt by the bush but luckily caught herself. Destiny was quiet as they walked out to the road. Then she got the bad feeling she gets when something bad was gonna happen. David was leading her up to his porch and that just meant trouble. What is someone saw him talking to nobody? What would he say how would he react? You can come in and rest for a minute or two, if you want. His question sent her stomach to her feet. Destiny looked uneasily around then looked back at David. "Um, no, I actually, er, need to be getting home, but um.. thanks for the invite, I'll see you Tuesday," Destiny somehow managed to force out. a couple minutes later Destiny left and went back towards the woods, the n soon disappeared out of site into the woods. This was going to be harder then she thought. |

The door unlocked as David was listening to Destiny. That seemed logical enough. Her parents must be worried sick. He smiled and waved back to her. "Alright then. I'll see you Tuesday." When she left, he made his way into the house and inspected it. Nothing was amiss. That was a good sign. He went to Jordan's room to pester him. "You okay in here?" He walked in and surveyed the room. It was a mess like usual. He sighed and was about to walk out, but he stopped. "Jordan, have you heard of anyone moving nearby?" His brother thought about it and shrugged. "Nope. Why do you ask?" "I thought I saw a moving van," he lied. David knew if Jordan knew that he had met a girl while out walking, then he would never hear the end of it. "I'm gonna go ahead and call it an early night." He went to his room, turned on some music, crawled into bed, and laid there thinking about how odd his day had been. |

Tuesday rolled around and David was a little excited. School seemed to fly by as if someone pushed the fast-forward button. He was slightly confused by the fact that Destiny didn't go to school with him. Oh well, it wasn't like it was the only school around. Once at home, David tossed his things in his room and checked on Jordan. "Hungry, bro?" Taking that as an invitation, Jordan hopped up and ran to the kitchen. With a sigh, David went with Jordan and made them both a snack. "Well, hey, I'm going walking again. You know the rules. Be good while I'm gone." He grabbed his phone, iPod, and hoodie; then, he walked out the door and put in his head phones. Destiny should be coming over any time now. He figured waiting against the wall of his house would be fine. He closed his eyes and focused on tapping his fingers to the song that was playing. |

Destiny almost lost track of time.I'm gonna have to be more alert.It was a Tuesday. The wind whistled through the warming tree tops. It wa him s becoming fall. The colors of the leaves where changing. Destiny made her way towards the tree line where she was supposed to meet David. "Just be calm, don't let him touch you, and don't talk to u in public, Just do this and you'll be fine." She kept telling herself this so that she could keep calm. Destiny reached the tree line and looked towards David's house seeing him and she smiled. When she noticed that he wasn't paying attention she decided to play a joke on him. She didn't know why she did it, lets just say it was because of her ghostly ways, but she eased across the street and popped up behind him." BOOO!"she screamed popping up behind him. "OH SHI-!" David yelled right before knocking his head against the wall. He groaned a little and rubbed the back of his head. He looked up, noticed Destiny, and turned bright red. 'Awesome,' he mentally noted with sarcasm. David quickly put away his iPod and spoke up. "Erm...sorry about that. I ahm... Would you believe that I just had a sudden chill up my spine?" His face was still red and he had difficulties looking the girl in the eye. He turned to start going and turned his head back to make sure Destiny was going with him. "So, have any place you would like to go to or anything you might wanna do?" He figured he would see what she would like to do before offering any suggestions of his own. A sudden thought happened across his mind, so he thought to ask, "Have you drawn anymore? If so, I would love to see it." |

Destiny couldn't help but laugh. It must have been in the ghost in her. The questions came at her like a tilde wave. Where did she want to go? She didn't know no one has been able to see her before. " I don't know... can we just head back to the woods?" Destiny didn't like being in public. She was afraid someone would see David talking to himself and call him crazy. A sudden thought came to her mind of where they could go. I know follow me. She had to catch herself to make sure she didn't hold out her hand. Destiny led David to the small cliff by the ocean side. It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining and there was a slight breeze. The clouds made shapes in the sky. This was her favorite spot. It made her feel alive. Strange. Was she nervous? Well, she seemed to like simple. That didn't bother David too much. He had started for the woods as she had originally stated, but quickly caught himself as she wanted to go someplace different. He had to admit, the view was wonderful. He plopped down on a nearby rock and smelled the fresh sea breeze. It was a wonderful day, if a little chilly. It surprised him that Destiny wasn't wearing a jacket or anything. Being the guy that he was, David could not stand for that. He removed his hoodie and held it out to the girl. He had long sleeves on, so he didn't mind in sacrificing his hoodie. "Here, silly. We don't want you getting cold." Destiny sure was attractive, but she seemed a little scatter-brained. It almost seemed like she didn't really concern herself with what was happening around her. |

Destiny inhaled the sea breeze. She saw the wind blowing, but that didn't bother her. She didn't get cold. Destiny sat cross legged on the ground and watched the waves crash against the rocks below. David took a seat on the rock, he was cute. Destiny looked at him. He was offering her his jacket. Awe that was such a gentleman move. She couldn't help but smile. I'm fine, Its not that cold. besides, the breeze feels good. It wasn't completely a lie. Destiny didn't want to take the chance of almost brushing his fingers. |

David shrugged and placed his hoodie on the rock with him. With a smile, he said, "Well, it's here if you change your mind." He thought a moment and realized that he didn't know much about the girl he was with. "So what do for fun?" After a moment, he realized he never saw her at school. "I never see you around school. Are you home-schooled?" Nervousness overcame him and he pulled out his iPod. He figured something on there could give him something to talk about. If it wasn't already so cold, then David would suggest going for a swim. |

Nerves filled her life-less body. How was she supposed to answer all these questions. Destiny hated lying. The first one she could at least answer truthfully. "I like to draw, and come up here, the view is amazing. Cliff Diving is fun too." Destiny replied. Now here comes the lying part, she hoped that David would believe her."Ya, I'm home schooled. Almost graduated." Destiny looked around to find some topic to talk about when David pulled out his iPod. That was when it struck her, she wasn't up-to-date with any popular topics in the social aspect of life." So what kind of music are you into?" Destiny tried sort through her mind to find what new artists emerged withing the last ten years.

Of course. The drawing was pretty much a given. Again, swimming would be fun, but it was a bit too cold. The home-schooling thing was different. Maybe he would ask about it later. "I actually thought about swimming, but it is a bit chilly for that. Maybe some other time. Could I see some of your drawings?" Apparently Destiny was wanting to know more about him too. He laughed at the question. "I'm sorry, there just isn't much that I don't listen to. I suppose my favorite genre would be rock, though. I don't really have any favorite bands or anything. I like so many. What about you?" He stood and moved closer to Destiny. He ended up leaning against a tree near her and held out his iPod. "You wanna look through it and see if there is anything you like?" |
