Spirit Shards: The Story.
Many years ago in a small galaxy, planets were being formed by the gods. They weaved their magic, creating their perfect worlds from nothing. The gods would rule over their respective planets, creating their ideal worlds in their image and then they’d command their people as they liked.
One planet in particular; Fides Humus, is where this story will focus. Fides Humus was created by two gods, Acerbus The God of Darkness and Aduro The God of Light. The two gods worked together, creating the only planet out of all the gods that was able to sustain life. Acerbus created night and Aduro created day. The planet was beautiful, magical forests, beautiful unique animals, rivers and seas, everything needed to hold the life of Man. Finally the two Gods knew their planet was ready for humans.
Aduro wanted to create humans with freewill, she wanted to watch them move about their lives and live in peace. Acerbus on the other hand wanted humans to be used for war, to battle the other gods and take over their planets. The two could not agree and it tore a rift between their once inseparable bond. They started to fight and in the end Acerbus stole half of Fides Humus casting it into complete darkness. He created a tree of life which would drop seeds on the first day of every month, the seeds would merge into the soil and from them man would grow. Only males would be born from the seeds as Acerbus had no use for females. They would rise from the ground for the sole purpose of serving their God of Darkness in war. Aduro was left with the other side, complete daylight for every hour of the day. She created humans with her magic, giving them the abilities to reproduce with one another, and do whatever it is they wanted in life. In between these two sides was one large strip of twilight.
The two Gods lived as enemies on the same planet for Thousands of years; they’d start the odd war over fickle things but nothing as big as what was to come, these smaller wars would cause a few natural disasters per year. Eventually the population of their people started to grow and ultimately contact between Aduro’s people and Acebus’s people became more constant.
One day a young lady from the side of light met in the strip of twilight with a warrior from the side of darkness. They had fallen in love and prayed to their Gods to let them be together. This enraged Arcebus and he damned both humans to death, killing them on the spot without any hesitation. Aduro was not happy, only she was allowed to decide the fate of her creations, that was the agreement between them both, and thus the biggest war of the Gods began.
The war lasted 100 years, God against God and the Humans from the Light against the Humans from the Dark. As the fight went on, the twilight strip began to crack but it was left unnoticed. Over the years the crack would get bigger and bigger and eventually all the pressure resulted in explosions from within the Planet, separating the light from the dark completely. The gods stopped fighting as they watched their creation destroy itself because of them, they both rushed to their respective sides, trying with all their might to push the pieces together. If the planets didn’t survive, they too would die as they had merged their spirits within to give the planet life.
As the Gods pushed against their side of the planet, their physical beings started to fuse with Fides Humus. They were eventually consumed by it, creating two new worlds. A planet of darkness and a planet of light but not before 8 magical shards exploded from their forms, landing on the planets and burring themselves each in a secret location. Earth, Fire, Water, Thunder, Air, Light, Dark and Energy.
---
500 years have passed since the event and the humans on both the light and dark planets have lived on without their Gods. Praying to their respective statues every day hoping that one day Acerbus and Aduro will come back to them. The light Planet, which was renamed to Relucesco was blessed with the power of Magic and the Dark Planet, renamed Umbra was blessed with the power of warriors. The Relucescians lived in peace, their planet flourished with the power of steam, they created kingdoms and villages and everyone lives as they pleased.
The men of Umbra on the other hand used the power of their Life tree, creating things from the cells of their planet, everything was connected, they made lighting from illuminating cells, houses and transport but they were not as advanced as the Relucescians. They did however manage to genetically engineer the life tree to create females... although it was rare that the tree would produce a female seed.
Each year on the 200th day, the anniversary of their Gods death, everyone from both Relucesco and Umbra would gather around their shrines for the festival of the Gods. They would bring offerings, play music and celebrate what their Gods had given them. This year was different though, as 5 people from Relucesco and 5 people from Umbra would become the chosen ones, the ones to go on an amazing journey to find the Shards of the Gods.
They just didn’t know it yet.
Important Information: Travel between the two worlds is possible through rips in space created when the planet broke to pieces. There are 3 in total but only two are known of by all. They are heavily Guarded on both sides.
~*~
Resurrecting the Gods In order to resurrect a God, one must find 7 of the 8 shards. Only one god may be resurrected, resulting in the other god being lost for eternity and the destruction of their responding planet. To bring Acerbus back you must collect the Earth, Fire, Water, Thunder, Air, Dark and Energy shards. To bring Aduro back you must collect the Earth, Fire, Water, Thunder, Air, Light and Energy Shards. Once all the shards are collected they must be brought back to the shrine of the correct God and placed before his or her statue then appropriate chant must be said. The Lore says that great rewards will fall upon the planet who manages to resurrect their God and ultimate demise will fall upon the planet who fails. Only the chosen ones may journey on the quest to find the shards.
~*~
The Shards There are 8 shards in total, each hidden in a secret location, only accessible by the 10 chosen Ones. 4 Shards are located in Relucesco, 3 in Umbra and one which floats between the two. Each shard is protected by a Demi God of the same element, released when the shards fell from the bodies of Aduro and Acerbus. If you obtain a shard and attach it to a weapon it gives you the amazing strength of the elemental guardian within. All Except the Energy Shard...this shard has no magical qualities, it is used to fuse the other shards together to create Acerbus or Aduro. It is essentially a piece of their soul.
Earth Shard: Guarded by the God Creta, a Golem Spirit. Creta only uses Earth Magic and Physical Attacks. He is very slow. Creta resides in the Forest shrine on Relucesco.
Fire Shard: Guarded by the God Exussum. Exussum is a Wolf Spirit, as red as lava, he specialises in Fire magic and has great agility. Exussum guards his shard in the Volcano Shrine on Umbra.
Water Shard: Guarded by the God Thalassinus. A large Sea Turtle spirit. Thalassinus is a user of Water Magic, he is extremely slow but he has amazing defence. Thalassinus is located in the water Shrine a two day trip by steam boat from Otium, the Harbor City of Relucesco.
Thunder Shard: Guarded by the God Attonbitus who takes the form of a Thunder Bird. Attonbitus uses Thunder magic; he is able to fly which makes it hard for non-magic users to hit him. Attonbitus Lives in the thunder clouds of Umbra.
Air Shard: Guarded by the God Spiritus. Spiritus is in the form of a Jellyfish, he roams the skies, almost transparent making him hard to spot by anyone. He uses the power of wind. Spiritus floats through the skies of Relucesco, he is never located in the same place twice.
Light Shard: Guarded by the God Coma. He takes on the form of a Pegasus. He uses light and holy magic. Coma is well balanced in all his abilities. The Light shard is located in an underground mining cavern in Umbra.
Dark Shard: Guarded by the God Iaceo, he takes the form of a Demon. Like Coma, he is balanced in his abilities and uses dark magic. The Dark Shard and Iaceo are located in a cave hidden by forests in Relucesco.
Energy Shard: Guarded by the Goddes Pia Pium. She takes the form of a beautiful Goddess; if you reach her with 6 of the 7 shards in hand she will not harm you and will give you the Energy Shard. If you reach her without all the shards she will attack you as soon as you set foot in her tomb. She is a powerful Magic user, more powerful than any of the Demi Gods before her. Pia Pium is hidden away in her tomb between the Light Planet and the Dark Planet. No one is sure of exactly where.
Maps and Locations: Relucesco: Relucesco is in constant sunlight which means it is ideal for forests, and other vegetation. The planet is very green and holds an abundance of life. The people here are very well off and live in harmony. Steam is their main source of energy but in some of the poorer villages water turbines are used for power. The world has many steam trains, boats and steam airships. They also use animals as transport. The Planet having being torn from its other half is now quite small compared to what it used to be and only holds 4 major cities - Divitie, the Planets Capital and where their elected king resides, Otium the Harbor city, Decor the Garden City and Veritas The city of the Ancients. There are many small villages scattered over the planet as well, most of them hidden away in forests. Because of the sunlight the creatures are abnormally large, most are magical and very dangerous but there are also many farming animals, a lot of the smaller villages focus on farming, selling their produce to the four large cities. Primo, one of the larger farming villages and the first village to be created by Aduro is where the 5 Chosen Ones of Relucesco will be summoned from. Primo holds a mixture of different races and is one of the larger villages, holding the shrine of Aduro. It has become a little rundown though as people focus more on the larger cities than the smaller villages. Relucesco has many different races which have evolved over the years to suit their living arrangements. Elves, Pixies, Humans and Hybrids are just some of the races you will encounter. Most live together well. Most of these Races are very skilled in the art of magic but there are a few who study swordsmanship as well. Map of Relucesco: Locations:Primo:The starting town where the 5 Chosen ones of Relucesco will gather at the Shrine of Aduro. The town is quiet, surrounded by forests from the south and farmlands across the North. Primo is powered by water mills. The town is usually a tranquil place but on the 200th day of each year people gather from all over Relucesco for the festival of the Gods. Silva Forest:Once you leave Primo you will find yourself in Silva Forest, it’s mostly a quiet forest with not much going on but every now and then you’ll encounter a small horde of Light Orcs. They hang around the forests trying to steal things from the people of Primo, they will attack anyone they see in hopes of stealing whatever they are carrying. Great Plains:Plains: Once you find your way out of Silva Forest you'll come across A large and lush grassy field which stretches on for miles dotted with the odd shrub here and there. You can go one of two ways here. If you go West you will reach Otium, The Harbour City. If you go East you will reach a small village called Tempero. As you travel you will encounter creatures along the plains; Lupus, wolf like creatures, Light Orcs, who have a small colony living in mud huts West of Silva Forest and Rostrum’s large eagle like birds that swoop in from above to attack anyone passing by. Otium:The Harbour City. One of the four large Cities of Relucesco. You can get here by travelling by steam boat from the lone islands or by taking the east road from the Plains. You can only travel by Steam boat if you obtain a ticket. The city is quite large and full of fishermen and business folk. There is a large market place with traders who will pay a hefty sum for certain items. There is also a Scroll marketer. Water Shrine: If you manage to get a steam boat ticket and catch the boat in Otium you’ll be able to travel to the Lone Islands. There are four in total. In between them all is a raging whirlpool. Somewhere within this pool is the water shrine, it is guarded by the demigod Thalassinus. Lone Islands: Four islands in total. Three of them; East, South and West are jungles, covered in plants and trees, and scattered with large monsters. The Northern Island has a small town on it called Mucro Fleo. Mucro Fleo: A far off town on the Northern Lone Island, a 2 day trip from Otium. It is inhabited by magical Elves who did not believe in the new technology – steam. They moved to the Eastern Island but found it to be too hard to survive without help from the other towns, so they built a dock and allowed trading of food for bottled magic. The steam boat also brings tourists to the village. The town is very old and battered looking and has no technology on it at all. They do however have a stall of dragons which can be loaned out or bought and used as transport. The first Portal is also located here but it is Guarded by the Kings Men. Tempero Village: If you decide to take the East path through the Plains, you’ll end up at Tempero Village. Tempero is a guardian village in the middle of a small forest they have been guarding the Forest Shrine for many hundreds of years. Although no one has ever managed to get into the forest temple they still feel the need to protect it with all they can. Forest Shrine: The Forest Shrine is a large temple on the Northern outskirts of Tempero Village. It is 5 stories high and is covered in Moss and vines. The door way is blocked by tree roots and no one is sure how to get past them. It is said the Demigod Creta is guarding something inside. Great Forest: When you leave the Tempero and head North you will enter the Great Forest. The biggest of Relucesco’s Forests. The forest itself is beautiful and magical but there are many creatures here which should be avoided. The fastest way to get out of the forest is to head North from the Forest Shrine. Decor: The Garden City. If you head North from Otium you will enter Decor. Decor is a place for the rich and powerful. It is a beautiful city with a giant fountain in the middle as its main feature. The people will look down upon any one who isn’t of the same status as they are. There is also a known portal here, but it is heavily guarded by the Kings Guard. Tumulus GraveYard: If you leave Decor and head West you come to the only dark part of Relucesco. The Tumulus GraveYard. Relucesian’s do not worship their dead... when someone on the planet dies you are taken to the Grave yard and put in a generic hole, covered up and left. Many people with Umbran Ancestry who were stuck on the planet when it split are buried back into the ground they were once born from and turn into ‘shadow stalkers’. People will stay away from this place besides the grounds keeper...it is said the Graveyard has a very special secret hidden inside it. Divitie: The Capital. You can get here by going west from Tumulus Grave Yard or North through the Great Forest. Divitie the Planet’s capital is where the kingdom resides. The City is very advanced compared to the others with everything running off steam, there is a steam train that can take you to the many districts and they are even beginning to create steam auto-mobiles. There is also an arena for battlers to have friendly duels, the king holds weekly tournaments there. Veritas: The City of the Ancients. Travel North just before getting to Divitie and you will come across Veritas. This City is very old; it has temples from the times of Aduro. Only the most experienced of magic users choose to live here as they are ‘blessed’ by Aduro. There is a very old library filled to the brim with books on the ancient times. Forgotten Forest: Head North from the fork in the road between The Great Forest and Divitie and you’ll come across the forgotten Forest. Hardly anyone ventures into this forest as it is full to the brim of some of Relucesco’s most dangerous creatures. Hidden somewhere within is a cave sealed off with a boulder. No one is quite sure what’s hidden away in there. Umbra: Umbra has never seen the light of day. It has hardly any forests as almost nothing but fungus grows here. Fungus is the main staple in Umbra as well as bats and other nocturnal animals. Their main source of power is the Tree of Life itself, it literally pumps life through the planet creating anything and everything. Once a month the Tree drops its seeds which fall into the soil below it; incubating infants of all kinds of species. They are then born from the Earth months later. The tree could originally only create Males but some of the smarter humans managed to alter the trees DNA. Once a month the tree will drop one female seed of every species on the small planet. The people from Umbra have learnt to extract cells from the roots of the Tree of Life to create what they need to power their cities. Umbra hosts mainly mining villages as it is almost too hard to breed any live stock on a planet without light. Though there are a few small villages which hold nocturnal animal farms and fungus farms. The inhabitants of this world are excellent blacksmiths, and can create a range of weapons to suit their incredible army or warriors. Umbra has 2 very Large Cities; Acies, is their Capital, where their Lord lives and where their army is based this city is almost bigger than all the cities of Relucesco put together but it has many slum districts and isn’t as advanced. The second city is Punio, their biggest mining city. This city is mainly full of criminals who have been sent here to do manual labor while under watch of the guards from Acies. There are also a lot of bandits and Pirates who stay here as the law is almost more corrupt than the prisoners it punishes. Eternus is the first Village Acerbus created and the location of his Shrine. It’s one of the more beautiful places in all of Umbra as it is one of the only villages that use illuminating plants as a source of light. This village is a light farming village; they extract light from the plants and sell it to the cities and other villages. Eternus is also home to many races and also has its own clan of magic users which is very rare on Umbra... Map of Umbra: Locations:Eternus: The first village created by Acerbus sits atop a cliff. It is located to the North West and is quite secluded from the rest of the towns and villages on the planet. Eternus has the Shrine of Acerbus Located in the central Plaza. Just like Primo, on the 200th day of the year people from all over Umbra to celebrate Their god by holding festival in Eternus and bringing offerings for their God. Eternus also sends out the planets biggest shipment of bottled light. This is where the 5 chosen ones will gather. The Broken Path: The Broken Path is the name of the winding road down the Cliff-face from Eternus. It is the only way to get to and from the village; it is very narrow and unstable, lined with light plants so people can see where they are travelling. The Baron Road:The road between the Broken Path and Colligo, you must travel along here to get to Colligo, there is no other way around it as the road travels along the side of a huge cliff. Colligo: Once you make it off The Broken Path and follow the baron road to the East you come to a town called Colligo. Colligo is an underground city at the base of a volcano which is constantly erupting. They are mostly safe from the lava in their village, the men here are miners and mine the minerals from below the volcano. There are some Myths about the Volcano containing a sacred shard but no one believes it. Marsh: When you’re done at Colligo you follow the road South and come to a Marsh that stretches for miles. Many Mushrooms grow here and you’ll often see Harvest Trolls collecting them for money. The deeper you go into the marsh, the more dangerous it gets. Punio: Go South from the Marsh Exit and you'll find yourself in Punio. The Second largest City in Umbra. Punio is full of crime. Even the Law is corrupt here. Pirates and Bandits flock from all over to sell their black goods here. There is a Market place with above average prices but you can find things here you couldn’t anywhere else. Prisoners are taken here to work in their mines making this the biggest mining town in all of Umbra. A portal is located here but is heavily Guarded. There are the Faresh Peaks to the East of Punio but only the bravest of brave dare to go there. Dead Forest: Upon leaving Punio, You’ll find yourself in Death Forest. It’s named this because all the trees and shrubs are dead from no sunlight... the only thing keeping them standing is their connection to the Tree of Life. The forest is quite maze-like and large. There are many monsters lurking in the forest. Tree of Life: In the centre of the Death Forest you will find the tree of life. The tree is large and has glowing orange seeds growing from its branches. After 5 months of incubating the seeds fall from the tree and bury themselves in the ground. 4 months later the seed cracks open and the new born must fight their way to the surface. Children are often stolen from the ground and sold as slaves in Punio. The dead are also buried in the soil around the Tree of Life giving their nutrients back to the tree they were born from. The people of Relucesco call Umbrians Zombies, or living dead because of this process. Desert of Despair: The Desert of Despair is the biggest desert in Umbra, it takes 3 days to cross but there are a few abandoned ruins to be used as shelter. It is very cold and baron and there are many sand monsters living here. Rus Ruris: Is the next town you will encounter, it is a rundown farming town on the coast, the farmers here mostly farm bat’s, and mushrooms as not many other edible creatures will live on Umbra. Rus Ruris also has the only port in all of Umbra, you need to use the boats there to get to Thunder Cloud Peaks. Thunder Cloud Peaks: To the South West of Rus Ruris is a small island which holds the Thunder Cloud Peaks. Above the mountains there are huge thunder clouds which, according to legend, is the home of a giant thunderbird. However, no one has ever seen it before and no one knows if it really exists. Acies: Umbra’s capitol and where their Lord Resides. You can get here if you choose to go South-East through the Dead Forest. Acies is HUGE. The biggest army in Umbra is kept here keeping guard of Lord Haynus. There are three districts in Acies, the Upper Class where all the rich and posh people stay, the Market district and the slums. The city is literally made of cells from the life tree and even seems to be alive, but they have mastered technology here and the buildings in the newer areas are made of technology rather than the Life Tree. There are lifts to take you underground to the slums made of vines and branches. There are many sights to see here. There is a Portal inside the Kingdom. Ignavis Station: If you travel West from Acies you’ll come to Ignavis Station. An Ignavis is a giant tame slug like creature which the Umbrians have learnt to use as transport. You can catch the Ignavis for quite cheap and it takes you to the City of Magi. City of Magic: The Ignavis will stop off here at the City of Magic, which is more like a large Village. Magic users with ancestry to Relucesco have created their own little society here. There is a magic dojo here and an old Library. Many Light elves and pixies live here. Ruins of Old: Take the old cobble road from the City of Magi and you’ll find yourself in the Ruins of Old. They used to belong to a large city which was destroyed centuries ago in a war against Magic users and Warriors. Now all that is left is the shells of buildings and Mining holes. Hidden somewhere in these ruins is an old Mining shaft with a treasure buried deep inside. There is also another secret hidden in this old town.
Rules: 1. Have fun! 2. No God-modding, power-playing etc. No Characters will be over powered. I prefer an RP where the characters grow. 3. Only join if you can make at least 2 posts a week. That's not asking much. You join an RP because you want to, so I'd assume you'd want to post at least twice a week. 4. People can create up to 2 characters, but there will only be 10 spots available so it's preferable that you let others join before deciding to make a second character. 5. At least 5 lines of text per post, I will not accept posts with less than this. 6. As the GM I reserve the right to change things in the RP (I'll let you know of course) 7. Please feel free to ask as many Questions as you like!! 8. Have fun! ;)

Here's my first Bio for Umbra I'll get my other bio up shortly <3
~*~
Name: Channing (Chuck) Freeley Age: 25 Gender: Male Home Planet: Umbra Home Village: Acies Race: Human
Appearance: Appearance: Eyes: Chuck has stern eyes, giving the impression that he is all business and no play, they are the colour Hazel. Hair: Sandy blond hair which is quite shaggy around his face, growing a little longer towards the back. He has two long bits that fall by either side of his ears, the tips dyed red. Skin: Because of the lack of sunlight, Chuck's skin is really quite pale and has little colour to it. Body Type: Pure muscle. There isn't an ounce of fat to be found on him. He's trained his entire life in the military. Height: 6 foot 7 inches. He is rather tall, making him seem intimidating. Weight: 80kg, mostly due to his muscles.
Personality: Personality: Although he looks mean and nasty Chuck is actually a really laid back guy. He has no interest in fighting anyone outside of war if he doesn't have to and would much rather be at a bar sitting down with a pint of beer in his hand having a nice chat with a stranger. He is quite the womaniser and is often found flirting with the prettier of women around Umbra. He often prays to the life tree to create more female seeds than male.
In battle however he becomes focused and fierce. He often falls into his own little world where it is just him and his enemy, forgetting about his partners in battle. He's not one to rely on in a fight and most people who know him have figured this out. Outside of battle though he does worry about his fellow companions.
He loves to talk and often finds he splurts out the most random of topics. He's not very smart having not received a lot of education, his only purpose in life was to serve the Acies army and their Lord Haynus. But he is very strong and loves to show off that fact.
Speciality: Speciality: Chuck is a warrior and a very good one at that. He'd trained his entire life having been picked from the Life Tree specially because of his impressive DNA. He specialises in Frontal Combat, being one of the first to be sent to battle when at war.
Weapon of Choice: Weapon of Choice: A broad sword is Chucks weapon of choice. He likes it because it's heavy in his hand and one swing with this thing could cut an orc in half. It sits in a black and gold sheath on his back. It has a small Acies Army emblem engraved into the blade. Chuck also carries two small daggers on his belt at all times just in case he's ever caught in a pickle. He's yet to use them though.
Armour: Armour: The Armour usually wears is that which the Kingdom knights receive when officially made a Kings Guard. It is made of gold coated steel and covers the warriors entire body. At the beginning of the RP Chuck has lost most of his armour and is only left with the gloves, shoulder plates and cape. His pants are the cotton ones he wore under his steel pants.
Biography: Bio: Chuck was scooped up by the kingdom of Acies as soon as he emerged from the ground, having been born from the Life Tree. He had no choice in life, he was to be a warrior and that was that. His DNA was perfect for knighthood and there was no way Lord Haynus was going to pass up any one born from the tree with DNA like his.
He was educated from the age of 5 - 13, only learning what Lord Haynus wanted his warriors to learn which was that Relucesians were bad and destroyed their land and that the army was going to help take it back. So Chuck grew up hating magic users and the Relucesians themselves.
At 14 his education stopped and his training as a warrior began. He passed all of the physical tests with ease but he was not very focused and struggled with the strategy side of things. His DNA pulled through and he was growing into a very tall and masculine man just like the others in the army.
20 years old was when chuck was sorted into the main troupe. This would be the group who'd go into war first. His goal was to get into the kings guard but he was not smart enough. It was soon revealed that their Lord was planning on starting a war with the light planet. It was kept top secret but someone had found out, tipping the Relucesians off who had planned a sneak attack, hitting the Umbrians the day before they planned to wage war. They were caught off guard but the Knights of Umbra were quick to fight back. Unfortunately Chuck had been knocked out by a wind spell by one of the mages, having him out cold for the entire war.
When he awoke he was in the Hospital ward. To this day he's been ashamed of his performance in that war but he was knighted, everyone thinking he had played a big part in the war. He was now made a Kings guard. Chuck accepted the role, keeping quiet about his lack of involvement in the Umbrian win.
One night while keeping guard of the kingdom. He heard whispers coming from the War Room. His curiosity getting the better of him, the man pressed his ear gently to the door. He heard the Lord talking about another war, as he listened his eyes widened. There was talk about destroying humans, something about magic and shards but he couldn't make any sense of it and before he could even try the door squeaked forwards and he was caught. The Lord pointed and called for his arrest and the guards within the room instantly rushed at Chuck who managed to escape only barely.
He is currently on the run, heading to Eternus. He is a wanted man with a hefty bounty on his head.
