Reinoa is a modernized city surrounded by a circular wall to protect the citizens from the dangers of the surrounding forests. The city is separated into four different districts and each district has a guild with a guild council who helps to make political decisions in Reinoa. Each district resembles an element: Ignis is Fire, Aquea is Water, Terra is Earth, and Ventus is Wind. In the center of the city is where all the necessary buildings are: the shopping centers, the market, hospital, a park, a public library, and the Academy.

At the Academy any child at age 8 is required to attend. They stay in the Academy dorms during a 4 day week and then are allowed to go back to their homes on a 3 day weekend. At this academy mages are trained in the art of magic and learn how to control their powers and also to determine which element they will specialize in. By age 14 every student should have an idea of what element they want to study, at age 16 every student will begin classes to perfect their elemental magic and prepare for end of the year exams so that by the graduation ceremony at age 18 you will be accepted into your desired guild and specialize in your element. After the graduation ceremony you are released from the Academy and sent to your respected guild to get the guilds mark imprinted into your hand symbolizing your loyalty to your element and district.

About 250 years ago there were two more districts in the city of Reinoa called Lux (Light) and Atra (Dark). Unfortunately the two guilds councils disagreed with each other which resulted in a massive war between the two districts. After 3 years of war they all soon died out resulting in the distinction of the use of Light and Dark magic. This caused a frightening imbalance in nature, but after a few years the citizens of Reinoa adapted to the changes and soon forgot all about the two lost magic’s.

After about 10 years of war and panic Reinoa soon finally was able to relax until there was a new discovery. Someone had discovered that if you combined all types of pixies (excluding black and gold) to make one elixir you will receive amplified powers, but this resulted in the corrupted race. Since the corrupted purposed a threat to the city the guilds all agreed to build a wall around the flourishing city to keep their citizens safe. This resulted in isolation of the citizens from other races that lived in the woods such as vampires, werewolves and elves. Still the city continued to grow and stays prosperous throughout the years.

Basic Spells (Here I will list different latin words with their definitions and you can use these to make spells. If a spell has a star beside it that means that it is an elemental spell. If you are specialized in water you can only use the elemental water spells. Check this list periodically to see if I made any changes or addded any spells.)

It was a Saturday morning and Astrea was where she usually was on a weekend, in her small apartment that she could hardly afford herself. She was an orphan at a nearby orphanage, but she was granted permission to leave if she could get a job and pay for her own living expenses. She got a job as a waitress at a café that sells pastries, coffee, and other tasty treats. In all she liked her job, but she still had to go to school and study on her element, an element that she couldn’t find. When a student turned 16 they were to start working in their element, but Astrea had the issue that she could not master an element. She tried not to let it get to her too much, after all she already had a job and the council members of each guild would not need her anyways.

As she turned to see what time it was she was very shocked to see that she only had 3 minutes to get to work. She scrambled around her small apartment pulling on her work uniform which resembled a maid’s uniform, but in blue and white. She quickly brushed through her blonde wavy hair and then slipped on her shoes and ran out the door. Thankfully her job was only 2 blocks away and she wasn’t late. As she got into the café she went straight to work as she asked the customers of their orders and helped with the cash register.

A dark creature slithered across the ground, hidden in the shadows as it passed unnoticed, chuckling softly to itself as it passed by oblivious humans, laughing about their day. Its body was not able to be described, every time it moved its body twisted and convulsed, making it hard to determine a specific shape. The only thing visible, that is, was its long claws reaching out to one of the humans, its mouth opening wide revealing long sharp teeth, dripping wet saliva. It drew closer and closer, to this one human, and as this girl moved to scream she found herself to be this person. In that precise moment, her mouth opened to make another scream, plea for help, but no noise came out of her throat as she was devoured.

Crimson eyes woke to the sun beating down on her pale face, the trees whispering their morning hums, the birds chirping sweetly as if everything were at peace. But not even in the city, protected by its high walls, there was peace. Only those who truly could not fathom the dark dangers, even within themselves, believed such things. Which sadly, was most people. This woman was actually surprised to see that nothing had disturbed her during the night, although she had foolishly slept in the forest, exhausted by her last job and not thinking straight. She had an inkling that she could have been drugged, but, she had done what was asked and had gotten her share of gold. She didn't need to complain.

Pushing herself atop her feet, she looked around before she sighed, rolling her shoulders and walking, softly, barefoot on the cool earth. She was going into the city. Not because she enjoyed the swarm of bodies, the always revolting stench and the voices that always drove her peaceful mind insane. She had never been too comfortable being around many people, just being surrounded with a few made her want to scream. But such things she had to get over if she ever wished to eat. She had lived during the Academy, no? So she would just have to live with the fact she had not eaten in four days and the forest couldn't supply her with her growing ever larger hunger. She would miss its fresh air.

The guards let her in without much resistance, this time. She had a reputation for knocking most of them out and forcing the gate to open, so, they kept their distance as most others did. But she didn't mind the wary and suspicious looks she was given for her crimson eyes and proud, mysterious appearance. Although she may have attracted men, it did not stop them from still looking from afar. She was not to be touched it seemed, and this girl, this alluring mage, wished to keep it that way. Sitting in a quaint cafe, she waited for someone to take her order as she took the gold from her last job out of he bag hanging on her side.

Astrea continued to happily serve the customers at the café gladly taking their orders and trying to be as friendly as possible towards everyone. She was very well known for her overly positive attitude, but it was because of her that this café was always filled. One because she was always very friendly, and two because of her stunning good looks. Guys had always taken a liking to her, but she was always so oblivious to that fact since she never felt the need for a man by her side. She was perfectly fine working by herself and just being alone.

As she made her usual round she came across a new customer. This person had not been here before or at least from what she remembered. Something about this person made a chill run up her spine almost like darkness was just radiating off of her. Despite the appearance this person possessed she was still going to put on her usual bright smile and offer her the same kindness she did for everyone here in the café. “Good afternoon, I am Astrea your waiter. Are you ready to order?” She asked politely taking her small pad of paper and a pen from her apron that completed the cutesy uniform.

Scarecrow watched with mild amusement as his target strolled down the quiet road. It was 7am on a Sunday morning and it was raining, which wasn’t unnatural for this time of year. As the target walked through the rain Scarecrow began to laugh quietly. This was going to be good. The target’s name was Belinda Gyle, and she was quite a virtuous woman. Short, but not fat, her shoulder length blonde hair was saturated with water, so much so that the water ran in streams across her face and down her back. Today she was wearing a black coat, and under that, a modest dress that ended well below the knee. She was beautiful, but naive.

Despite the heavy rain, Belinda powered towards her destination with an astounding determination. Aware that she was getting away, Scarecrow leapt down from the tree and followed her carefully. After fifteen minutes of solid walking Belinda’s destination loomed up over the tops of the houses. It was big; in fact it dwarfed its surroundings with ease with its spire easily the most visible thing for miles. Scarecrow snorted; another giant building made in homage to a God they only pretended to understand, this was another example of how naive humans really were. ‘Knowing where the target was headed made things so much easier’ reflected Scarecrow. In a matter of seconds he had overtook the target and was on his way to the destination.

Belinda walked into the temple with a certainty that this was she belonged. She loved helping people but she knew that she must reconcile first. She knelt down and began to pray silently. She heard the footsteps approaching but with a devoutness that eluded many, she finished her prayers before looking up to see who had approached.
“Oh! Good morning Father” she stammered nervously, “I didn’t think you would be around this early before Mass.” The priest smiled genially at her, blue eyes glinting in the sunlight.
“Don’t stress my child; I too like the quietness that the early morning provides.” He laughed and ran his hands through his brown hair carelessly. “Listen, I’m kinda new here, but you strike as me as a devoutly religious person so I was wondering if you would like to read at this morning’s mass?” He knelt gently and placed a hand on her shoulder as he waited for her response.
“Father! I’d, I’d love too!” she blushed at her own eagerness but the priest seemed unfazed by her reaction and merely smiled at her again. ‘He is so friendly!’ she thought.
“Father, I won’t let you down, I promise!” she blushed as the priest smiled knowingly again.
“I know you won’t my child, you will perform amicably.”

It was several hours later during the mass that Belinda got to do her reading. Her excitement had been growing considerably since she was assigned the reading and it now reached boiling point. ‘If I do this well enough, maybe I could do this regularly’ she imagined herself as a respected contributor to her church and how it would be helping lots of people. The sound of her name broke her out of her mental reverie and she walked to the lectern nervously. She began her readings slowly but surely, occasionally glancing towards the priest for reassurance. She started suddenly when she realised that the priest from earlier was not amongst them.

She continued her reading and had got as far as ‘the end is nigh!’ when she noticed the priest from earlier standing at the back of the church laughing to himself. The congregation suddenly gasped and Belinda let out an agonising scream as her entire body was engulfed in flames. It was over within seconds but Belinda had been in agony the entire way.

It was a simple trick, one that any successful assassin should know. You place a small device onto the victim and when the right words were said, it would detonate, engulfing the victim in Hellfyre. In this case the right words were 'The end is nigh', suitably fitting. Hellfyre was one of many tricks Scarecrow possessed in his arsenal.

With the attention of the congregation elsewhere Scarecrow allowed himself a moment to remove the priest garments and leave the Cathedral unnoticed. He smiled as he morphed into his raven form and as he melted in to the shadows he was quite satisfied that another mission had ended in success for him.

Nila sat silently, watching other people with a blank look to her face, silently amusing herself with the frightened glances she got back. She didn't feel offended by such things, in reality, she was used to the treatment and now became interested, entertained, by the people around her. They portrayed many things they didn't think she would catch, but it was so easy it was almost as if reciting the alphabet. She couldn't get enough on how oblivious and innocent every person seemed. But she didn't care enough to really dive deep into them, find any good aspects of their personality that she could notice. No, they were only strangers sitting in the same building, that was all.

Looking over to the waitress who was traveling around, her crimson eyes for a moment showed slight irritation. She had never liked women who flaunted around, all bubbly and happy, the smile on their face plastered and unreal. Sure, it got the good results from the people around you, but Nila was one to be honest when it came to such things. If she was unhappy about something, she bluntly told someone what they had done wrong. She just couldn't comprehend on why people even bothered to pretend such things. Ah well, she couldn't help the strange habits of city folk.

Realizing that the woman had started to speak to her, Nila looked up with her beautiful yet dangerous looking crimson eyes, assessing and taking in the waitress one more time before she quickly replied," Yes, actually. I would like a glass of water and a bowl of fruit, please. " Her voice was somewhat strained, but it held the same coldness to it that brought many people away from her, never wishing to see her face again. And her strict diet to rarely eating man-made things was irritating to most, but she hoped this fake waitress wouldn't bother her on such things.

This mage hated small talk.

As Astrea listened to the customer’s order she realized that he wouldn’t need to write anything down. She noticed that her smile had no effect to this person as it did for everyone else in the café and it almost seemed to bother her. “Oh um, yes.” She said nervously as she quickly walked behind the counter looking for some fruit and placing it into a bowl and then getting a plain glass of water. She found it very curious that this person was not here for any pastries or coffee like other people were, but it seemed to her that this person was far more extraordinary from the others. In fact as she took a glance over her shoulder it seemed this person was not that too far in age from herself either.

As she grabbed the glass and bowl she quickly made her way back to the table setting it down on the table. “Here you go.” She said with a sweet smile as she looked over the customer once more. There was something that sparked her uncontrollable curiosity, maybe it was this persons red crimson eyes and pale skin that almost made her resemble a vampire, but she knew this person couldn’t be a vampire since they were allowed limited access in Reinoa and were never caught out doors in the mornings. “I hope you don’t mind me asking, but I have never seen you around here before. Do you live here by any chance or in some other district?” She asked curiously as she held her hands behind her back and awaited an answer. In the way she was standing and the way she was dressed you could make her out to be an over grown child, but her golden eyes showed her maturity and the fact that she was not that far away from becoming eighteen. In fact her eighteenth birthday was only in 2 weeks.

Looking up at the girl in front of her with her own peculiar golden eyes, the slightly curious Nila couldn't help but tilt her head as she looked at those eyes. They seemed interesting, pretty to say the least, and she was probably not scorned for having such eyes. Only because this mage did not have beautiful blue ones, that she was feared. Not only that but the way she carried herself, her language, it all just seemed to make people more and more afraid. Did this girl have an easy life, or was it hard? Looking to her more closely, she found the sudden urge to gasp at the energy she sensed. Wait....did this girl possibly contain...the Light energy? It took every self control this dark mage had not to smirk.

She would leave this girl alone, for now. She had to find absolute proof that this girl contained the Light, for if she did, then it was proof that the supposed magics that had become extinct didn't come from heritage, but from your own soul and heart. Waiting patiently as the girl left to get what she had ordered, crimson eyes looked over the other customers once more, now suddenly becoming else interesting then they were before. With this new waitress who drew Nila's new sudden interest, everyone else seemed to fade into black. It was entertaining to find this affect whenever someone became more then slightly amusing to this dark mage.

Suddenly noticing that her food and water was served, she looked up to the waitress, Astrea if she were to be correct, and nodded softly before picking up a fork and slowly eating her food. She was hungry, but that didn't stop her from being graceful as she plopped fruit into her mouth, her stomach gobbling it up graciously. Noticing that she was being watched, Nila stopped in mid bite to arch an eyebrow at the on-looker. Sure she was used to others starring at her, but not from this close of an angle. It was starting to make the hairs on the back of her neck tingle from uncertainty. She didn't normally like people being in her personal space, but, she tried not to make a scene about ti and continued to eat, ignoring Astrea's irritating gaze.

" I used to. " Nila calmly stated, continuing to eat her food with her bandaged hands. She didn't bother explaining that she technically didn't leave here, more like wandered around the area and slept in some places as a child, then living in the boarding rooms in the academy due to pity. Ah pity, such a disgusting emotion. Looking back up at the waitress, she realized something. If this girl had magic energy in her, was she residing at the Academy? Maybe this dark mage could check, since she was after all a 'prized student' and could ask for anything. They would enjoy the visit anyway, even if it had only been around a year since she had graduated.

Scarecrow decided to stop at one of his safe-houses before he visited the Council for his payment. Walking freely through the streets he found himself observing every detail of his surroundings with care. Before he realised what he was doing he had subconsciously planned out four emergency escape routes, and seen another dozen ways he kill any of the people here without being noticed. He smiled, that was why he liked marketplaces. The amount of people here made it easier to blend in. He let out a chuckle, not that he needed people to blend in. His control of magic allowed him to turn invisible at a single word. However his control of the Dark element allowed him some further abilities that helped his invisibility. He could conjure darkness which was a technique he used not only for disguise, but for intimidation too.

Leaving the marketplace behind Scarecrow set his sights on a house halfway down the street. It was small and plain but by far the cheapest house on the street. Scarecrow had been taught that neighbours hardly ever talk to the person on the street who owns the cheapest house. It would be unbecoming of them to socialise with someone inferior. This made his safe house that much safer. ‘Not as safe that it didn’t still require some basic traps’ Scarecrow thought wryly as he began disabling the traps he set on the door. He paused suddenly as he reached the third trap, it was out of place. Somebody had been here, trying to get in to his house. They had reset all his traps but the third one was out place, but only slightly. It was this attention to detail that made him such a successful assassin.

Leaving the door locked, Scarecrow climbed the fence that ran parallel to his own and quickly jumped on to the roof. It was unlikely that the intruder had found his rooftop door. Pausing briefly to consider who the intruder could be Scarecrow slowed his breathing down and reasoned that it was probably a rival assassin. There were few people that could disable and reset his traps and another assassin was high on the list as the perpetrator. He decided against going invisible because it was often more of a hindrance then a help. ‘Besides’ he thought, ‘I’m the first person since my master to learn control over the dark element, that has got to count for something.’ With that thought he slipped through the rooftop door quiet as a shadow and began to search his house for the intruder.

Astrea thought she would have gotten a lot more information out of the customer, but it seemed she wasn’t much for conversation. Suddenly the boss called from the kitchen telling Astrea there were customers waiting and to get to work. Astrea jumped a little at the sound of her boss warning her and then immediately went back to work giving more of her warm smiles and taking orders. Still though that person made her curious and she wanted to find out more about her, but she would have to wait until another time when she wasn’t busy.

She had worked for a whole 7 hours straight that day which wasn’t unusual for her, but all the other workers who were students at the academy had left two hours ago since they were not permitted to stay past 9:00 pm, but Astrea always gladly worked late despite the fact she would have to wake up early in the morning. The reason was because she had not fully paid off her payment for her apartment last week so she was behind and needed all the money she could get. Almost everyone had left the café by then since it was closing time and Astrea was still hard at work cleaning off tables and grabbing her very last tips.

Dropping into his bathroom, where the rooftop door lead, Scarecrow paused and listened carefully for any noises. Hearing none, he began searching the house methodically, moving from room to room. This was a time where his invisibility helped. As he reached the weapons chamber, he wondered why nothing had been disturbed yet. The chamber at first glance didn’t appear to be touched in anyway. On second glance however Scarecrow noticed the yellowed bit of parchment pinned to the table with one of his throwing knives. Walking over to the parchment he was glad that his master had taught him to read. The note read:

“Hahaha, got you good didn’t I? I Left the third door trap out of place so you’d notice and go into security mode. I assume you went through the rooftop door? So old school. But still, I bet you feel like an idiot for doing all that work and finding nothing but this note. However if I know you, then you will be feeling angry and a little scared about this blatant intrusion into your privacy. However I beg you not to be alarmed as I have a business proposition for you. If you would care to meet me at the Raging Bull tonight at 6, I would be delighted. Also you’re more than welcome to pick up your payment from the Council for your last job, but please don’t be late. I trust that you can see I’m serious by how easily I avoided your many traps.”

There was no name or signature at the bottom, but Scarecrow didn’t care. Names and signatures could both be forged and so meant nothing. The writer of the note on the other hand was a different matter indeed. Scarecrow decided to arm himself to the teeth before meeting this mystery person. He would listen to his proposition... and then kill him. He couldn’t afford to have someone around he knew his secrets. He would sell the house too, it would be a shame but still there was no good having a safe house that wasn’t safe.

Arming himself, he left the house and made his way to the Council to receive his payment.

Crimson eyes softened in kindness as they silently watched the girl before her, the reactions so cute and innocent, it brought a small, beautiful smile to that once dark and dreary face. Although this girl was almost her age, that fact did not matter when it came to maturity. No matter how this girl would try, she would not be able to grasp the aura, the position that Nila was standing on. No, she was not standing anywhere. She was drifting out on the ocean, watching everyone on the shore just fade away...But Astrea had spared her true kindness. She didn't give that fake smile that masked the true disgust, irritation within, instead she smiled and spared that small kindness even with the way this dark mage had treated her. Just that small gift made this girl so blissfully happy....Thank you...

Nila looked down at her empty bowl with a blank expression, looking intently into it as if she expected fruit to magically appear. But it did not matter, she was not hungry, she just did not feel like leaving this comfortable, oblivious feeling. She normally was uncomfortable and timid when it came to cities, the dank and stuffy air with the rude and obsessive people, pushing you to the ground without a second thought. The crowds of people that judged, pointed at her in fear, in hate. She hated to be judged, the animals never judged her. They were her friends...however...Astrea didn't judge her. So finally being accepted by someone of her kin felt nice....even if it were just for a moment. Looking out the window, Nila realized that it was already night and that this quaint cafe was probably about to close. Although she did not want to escape this feeling, she knew she had to.

Taking out her bag of gold coins, slightly more full since she had just completed a strenuous job, she payed for the small meal but also left four gold coins, glistening on the table top for Astrea. It was probably safe to say she would never see this girl again, so at least she could repay her with this much money, for the short time she felt accepted. Looking down at her bandaged hands, she silently stood, looking down at the ground as she exited without a word. No 'Thank you' or 'I'll see you again sometime' just tight lips as she walked out into the darkness that embraced her as the wind blew her strawberry blonde hair. The darkness' cold fingertips felt good against her pale, soft skin, and as she basked in its strange affection, she knew that she could not stay in this city in the night any longer then she had.

Turning swiftly, she grunted as she made contact with a body, dropping down to the ground with a thump. Was it one of those times when she had to push a gang of men away, hear more screams as they pleaded for mercy? Looking up, she realized it was only one man, and it seemed to be an accident. So why did he seem to suspicious? Peering at his hand, she realized the insignia that rested on his palm, traveling down his wrist. She had an identical one, hidden underneath the bandages wrapped around her hands, to hide what she contained within her. He was a dark mage. And she thought she was the only one...

Meanwhile back at the Academy, Ran lying back on his bed in the Orphan Wing and staring at the ceiling. Such a thing would’ve seemed so boring to anyone else, but to the boy it was one of his favourite past-times. It gave him time to think, breathe and for the most part, be at peace. The rest of the orphans were outside, playing amongst themselves and enjoying their own personal hobbies. But being a quite a few years older than the oldest child placed a rather large barrier between the teenager and the rest. It wasn’t impossible to live with them, and neither side ever bothered the other – everything was rather balanced in that respect.

However, lately it was becoming clear that whilst he’d graduated from the Academy no more than a few months ago, the staff were already starting to be put off by the fact that they still had to provide for him. The boy had known nothing but training since he’d arrived at the Academy thirteen years ago. In his opinion, the staff didn’t really care about those they brought here. The students were never shown any compassion or kindness. If a kid screwed up, a teacher would tell them off and screech at them to get it right. There was no kind of support other than the provision of basic living needs and basic living conditions.

Rantashi wasn’t angered by their lack of care; in fact he wasn’t even slightly annoyed by it. The way he saw it, both the students and stuff were using each other. The children were using the training to be stronger people, to become better than those who trained them – almost like revenge for getting treated like dirt. They were no better than their teachers, who exposed them to brutal physical pain, emotional heartbreak and psychological torment. Both sides were as bad as one another, and in an odd way, they actually completed each other, complimented one another. Such an unusual thing indeed, but this was what the system dictated to them all.

In any case, the teen knew that he would continue on living in this stoic nature of his, never gaining friends, always training to be someone stronger, but not simply because he wanted to be better than his teachers; because in most cases he already was. That was where he and the other children were different. Due to a lack of knowing how to feel about anything, Ran was able to see things clearly for what they really were without any sense of emotion or moral judgement getting in the way. Cold and precise, just like his Element. And then, a peculiar thought came into the boy’s head. What if he were to become one of the teachers?
The idea was simple; he’d get payed to train, offer constructive criticism for the children instead of blatant abuse. Whilst he would be brutally honest, it was better than a simple “You suck, get it right.” He’d instruct, not berate.

Getting up off his bed, Rantashi began to make his way towards the Headmaster’s room.

"Master Rantashi.... Rantashi-Sensei..." he whispered quietly, the sound being carried away by the sudden gust of wind. "I like the sound of that."

'Friends will come and go, but you're stuck with your Mates forever."

Who could this mysterious man be? What could he want? It didn’t matter too much because the man was going to die, but still, Scarecrow wanted to know the man who had bested him. It was simply a matter of pride, once the man was dead, then Scarecrow could sleep easy again, not a moment before but only after he was dead.

Scarecrow was snapped out of his thoughts with a massive thud. Regaining his senses he spied a woman with crimson eyes sprawled on the footpath. Realising how fast he must have been going Scarecrow regretted not paying attention to his surroundings. If he was going to offer any assistance it would have to be soon, he was in a rush.

Just as he was about to say something Scarecrow caught the woman staring at the insignia on his hand. She seemed bewildered at something, ‘surely the appearance of a Dark element user can’t be that astonishing’ thought Scarecrow, again displaying his lack of education in the ways of the world.

Raised by his master, Scarecrow had no recollection of his parents, nor had he ever attended school. Everything he knew he had been taught by his master. Reading, writing, and most importantly, his skills at killing people were the only things that were deemed important. His knowledge of history went so far as that he knew that he was one of the only people in Reinoa to use the Dark element, but still it shouldn’t have caused the look on her face unless... Unless she was one herself!

Extending his hand, he helped her up, but instead of releasing the woman’s hand he instead tore the bandage off revealing a similar insignia to his own wrapped around her hand and arm. Scarecrow shot her a questioning look, a look that usually left no doubt in the victims mind that the questions should be answered. Truthfully. All thoughts of the council and the strange note had escaped for the moment as he focused solely on this woman who had yet to say a single word to him. Ironically though, Scarecrow had yet to say a word to her either.

She did not like this person. This man who seemed to know nothing of the world, oblivious to the true problems before him. She never thought that people like him still lived to this day, lap dogs who know nothing but of their Master's orders. Every person has experienced some hardship, and some of those also had blood on their hands. Hers were covered by the layers of bandages she had wrapped around them, hidden from the air and peering eyes around her, but his were left out to dry. Her crimson eyes could almost see all the blood that was stained upon them, even though it was not physically there.

She was a mercenary. She took jobs to take care of the Corrupted so that maybe some unneeded deaths wouldn't occur. That some children would be left in the situation she had been in. Wondering, wishing, to know if their parents even existed. Training till the day they could take revenge, hate, blood lust, plaguing their once clear eyes and mind. It only took one glance, one action, to realize he was an assassin. And assassin's killed people, ordered around like weapons from a higher superiority. If she could, she would wring his neck, show him reality, but she did not want to waste her breath.

Although she was interested, only slightly, in the man before her and his insignia, she had other things to attend to. If she were in the night any longer, she was afraid that people who knew her as a child, had done things to her, would come back. And she did not want to even think about such a thing happening. So she would have to let this good opportunity pass, to her despair. Even if she hated to admit it, her safety was more important they her peculiar fascination.

Actually, she had planned to get up herself due to her wariness to other people, so as she was about to shake off his hand she felt his grip tighten as her hand felt helpless with his own larger. Her crimson eyes snapping to her hand, he realized that he was tearing at her bandages and before she could put in a word he had tore them off, revealing what she had never wanted to see again. Her insignia, twin to only the man before her, glowing bright as it found its opening, eating in the darkness. Frantically Nila looked around, hoping that no one was watching, wistful, hoping, that they wouldn't be caught. But that was not the only problem. Drawing her attention back to this very rude stranger, her tongue clicked as her intense crimson eyes burned into his sockets.

She had yet to say anything. Maybe it would be best not to, since after all if he recognized her voice, he could find her anywhere. It was dark, so he could not see her face, and that was easier to hide. But as she paid more attention to this disgusting, irritating, and definitely infuriating man, she ripped her hand out of his firm grasp gaining back her senses. Looking down at her marked arm, she looked at it with scorn before taking the bandages he had ripped off her hand and arm and sighed. She would have to buy new ones again. Did he know how much it cut into her income?

A dark pool started to form at her feet, hands reaching out and latching onto her legs as she grit her teeth, biting her lip with all the force she had in her. Leave me be.....

The moment seemed to last forever. The crimson eyed woman refused to say anything, but Scarecrow could feel the resentment emanating from her body. She tore her hand out of his grasp. She looked as if she was going to flee, getting far as to gather darkness around her, but Scarecrow was equal to it. He wanted to know more about this woman. She didn’t seem to like him much, and from the look of her eyes Scarecrow could guess the reason. She obviously thinks I’m incapable of independence because I’m an assassin. He didn’t have to wonder as to how she knew he was an assassin, he was dressed for it.

He smiled at how little she knew about his job, and about him. It was people like this that Scarecrow was hired to kill; he took on all contracts but refused to kill if the target was a good person. He always did his research, he tried his utmost to make sure those he killed were thoroughly deserving of it. This forethought and observation was what made him a force to be reckoned with in the world of shadows. Still, he was determined to find out more about this woman, regardless if it made him late or not. She hadn’t spoken so he thought he’d take the opportunity and ask first.

“Wait! I’m sorry if I appeared rude, but in my line of work you need to know everything you can about a person. Sorry, for barging into you by the way, I was lost in my own thoughts and didn’t see you. I was on my way to... well where I was going is not important. So if pleases you to know, I am Scarecrow, Shadow of the Night. I’m an assassin but you already knew that. If I may be so bold, what is your name?”

The hands grew ever stronger as their cool, dark fingertips clasped around her flesh. It whispered to her in its soft coos, enticing her, tempting her, to join it in the growing darkness, bubbling beneath her feet. Its moans were ghastly, its glowing eyes reminding her of her nightmare. The broad, chilling smirk that revealed sharp teeth, looking as if it could tear into her at any moment. Blood dripped from its claws as it savored its last meal....

A scream was hard to contain. Nila had always had too much power at her fingertips for her own good and she knew, deep down, that it was consuming her. Day by day she felt this dark, crawling thing growing inside her heart, slowing its beats until it struggled to even survive. She felt the sudden urges to kill, to taste anothers flesh upon her tongue, watch in amusement as they screamed. She knew the power would consume her, she had too much for her own good. She did not have much time left to have her own consciousness, which was why she pushed everyone away. She knew it would be safer if they all hated her, then to die at her hands because they cared for her at all.

Looking at the insignia, her crimson eyes turned into slits as she realized it had grown in this past year. What had once just ended at hr wrist was now clinging to her elbow, reminding her of the hands that had reached out not too long before. But she couldn't think of such trivial things as of now, a person was standing before her. They did not know each other. They might assume, but they would never truly know the other unless they asked, and, Nila had no intention of giving any personal information out. If anything, she would hate for this man to be closest to her the most, because he was after all a man. How she hated men. Not to the point she was attracted to women, but enough that she all eyed them warily. And if people knew her past, they could only sympathize. But they didn't.

She would like to keep it that way. His sudden outburst however made her eyes round in slight surprise, her anger diminishing as she realized how casual he spoke. He gave his name out as if it were a normal occurrence, added his title to give him authority. He even added an apology. Nila felt as if she should faint right now - she wasn't sure how to react. "Nila." She replied slowly, not bothering to give out a last name or any more spared words. She was still wary.

He eyed the woman carefully, trying to get a read on her thoughts. The only reaction she gave was a surprised look, followed by a name. “Nila” she said. Clearly she had been taken off guard by his casualness, but she wasn’t so off guard as to provide more than a name. He paused, disconcerted by her short response.

To him a name was just that, a name. It was something that was used to identify a person with. Again, having no family and no friends as he grew up affected his capacity to understand the recognition that some names can bring. Memories were one example.

Scarecrow found himself reminiscing about his childhood and teenage years. Ever since he could remember he had been training and learning in the ways of stealth and weaponry. It wasn't until he was 18 that his master revealed the reasons behind choosing him as an apprentice. It was then that he learned of his affinity with the dark element and truly became an assassin. He also earned the name Scarecrow within assassins circles. With a shock he realised that he didn't even use his real name when talking to people, 'how strange that I never noticed it before now' he thought.

Still determined to find out more about Nila, Scarecrow decided to ask more questions. “So, is it just Nila? Why were you so determined to run? Why don’t you like me? You don’t even know me.” He fired the questions out rapidly in a no nonsense manner. He was used to asking and answering questions concisely and he spared little time with social niceties. Running his hand through his hair Scarecrow noticed that his insignia had grown some more. It had grown slowly ever since he discovered his use of the element but this meeting seemed to have promoted further growth.

Slipping his hand into his pockets he glanced back at Nila. She seemed to be processing his questions, but whether or not she would provide any answers remained to be seen.

Inai finished his homework long ago. And since he didn't had anything else to do, he decided to spend this little free time he had in Academy library. It was actually good thing that Academy allowed it's student's to have an acess to its library even during weekends.
Recently, he got interested in religion. Library had enough books on almost every topic, so he can easily satisfy his need for either some of his researches or for his casual reading, as needed. But, religion hasn't been covered so good. Sure, Inai did found some books, but not as much as he hoped.
They most probably don't want to get too involved in something as hot-issue-ish as religion, he thought.
Inai likes to spend his free time reading. If someone is to wonder if a solution to some problem can be found in some book, Inai will most probably be able to say the name of at least one book in which that answer can be found. After all, with so much time spent in Academy library, he actually did read at least one book on most topics.
Geek? Nerd? Maybe, maybe not. Ask others, they will be more objective than me. Well, most of the times. If you ask certain questions, you'll get to some rumours about me. Now, don't let me start about that!

His... medical condition... hasn't gone unnoticed. How could it, when from time to time (irregular time) he asks the professor(s), with strange look on his face, if he could be excused for two to three minutes to go to take his medicine? Some book or something similar in shape that he holds in front of his crotch every single time he goes to actually take his medicine is considered strange by his fellow classmates. Not to mention that he doesn't take only two to three minutes, but up to fifteen minutes, to get back in classroom. Yes, he was asked questions about it, but he just keeps on refusing to answer them. Professors, too, are asked questions, but on why is he allowed to exit the classrom during the class, and even for so long, while others aren't. They would always get the same answer, but said in different forms - health issues. Some rumours appeared, some closer to truth, some not.
The medicine he takes isn't tasked to actually treat whatever condition he has, but to narrow the potential area of his body to the specific one that might be the source of it, since doctors don't have even slightest idea about what it might be.
Something new in world of medicine? Maybe they'll call it after me.
Inai smiled.
Meen syndrome?
But, at this moment, he just wants to ignore his problems, and dedicate his full attention to the book that he is holding in front of him.

Some half an hour later, after Inai read most of the book, he decided to put it back onto the shelf and exit the library. Since it was weekend, he didn't had to actually remain on University so he just went back home. But, on his way out of University, somebody familiar appeared.
"Hi, Ran. What's up?"

Kraizen Jerrickson

If there was one time of day when this city was the best, it was at night. At least, this was the thought of Kraizen as he walked down the much less crowded city streets. At night time, people were mostly in-doors and either going to bed or doing whatever it was they did during their off-time, rather than everyone walking from one place to another at the same time and clogging up the streets. Kraizen didn't mind large groups of people, but even he could find the congestion of people during the day to be troublesome. It was one of the reasons why he preferred work that took him outside of the city walls, like working in the fields or going out into the woods.

But at night time, he could walk around without having to worry too much about bumping into people or getting carried away in the traffic. It wasn't as noisy and he could take his time walking at whatever pace he so desired without anyone bothering him for going too slow. It also wasn't nearly as noisy during the night.

A cool breeze blew by and the tall young man peered up at the clear night sky with green orbs. He stopped walking and took in a deep breath of the fresh night air, exhaling in a long sigh. Yes, tonight was a good night. The wind was good, the earth beneath his bare feet smooth and soft from the many feet that trotted along over it day in and day out.

Resuming his easy saunter along the road, Kraizen brought his eyes back down to earth. As he did, he caught a glimpse of motion off to the side and looked to see two other people around his age; a girl and a boy. The girl was fairly distinctive if only because of the way she was holding herself. She seemed to be on guard. As for the guy, he was covered from head to toe in lots of dark garb.

And he was armed. Heavily.

"Pardon my intrusion..." He said in a calm manner and approached them. He stopped a respectable distance from the two of them so that he was sideways from them. "But is this guy bothering you, Miss?" He gestured to the armed man.

He knew he probably wasn't the most intimidating figure. Sure he was tall, but he held no weapon and his clothes were worn and dirty after a long day out in the fields, patches of sweat still visible though his skin had long dried. The only possible thing was that his sleeveless shirt made the lean muscles on his arms perfectly visible. He didn't have bulky muscles, but what he did have was hard and ropy.

As he glanced between the two of them, he noticed that the girl seemed to be favoring her arm. He couldn't see any visible injury, but the way she clutched it was very defensive. Had this guy touched her without her consent? His gaze did not wander long on it though, instead focusing on the woman's face, looking her in the eye. It was tough to tell in the dark, but he could have sworn they were red.

Nila clung to her arm like it was the thing keeping her alive. The insignia upon it was glowing fierce, growing past her elbow only slightly as she bit her lip, provoking her blood to dribble down her chin. This was why she had chosen to control her emotions, if she was provoked or angry the mark only grew, inching closer and closer to her heart. She could not let anyone figure out that this was her weakness, that this was the sign that the dark magic was not one to be messed with, if anything, it destroyed the person from the inside. She could barely contain it, the blood lust that almost consumed her.

The night used to be calming, like a soothing synthetic that made her feel as if she were to sleep. But it did not help her in this situation, even if it wished to reach out for her and envelop her, her body repelled it. How could she feel calm in this situation, with this man in front of her, currently armed and even containing dangerous magic, just like her? Not only this, but he had rudely asked for information about her when she had just met him. She couldn't shake the feeling that this man was dangerous, and as she scrambled to collect the remains of her bandages, she was onslaughted by many questions coming from....Scarecrow's mouth.

Her eyebrows furrowed. She did not wish to tell him her thoughts, but what would she do if she truly did get angry? She had almost lost it before, and only just realized her senses before going completely berserk. What if she truly lost it? What if she just lost even more time to survive? Her body stiff, she couldn't figure out how to respond, her mind was whirling as it tried to calculate the safest most efficient path, but it couldn't find any. What if she made him mad? He was the one armed, she couldn't protect herself forever from his many trinkets, not only that but he could call upon the element to, so she could not escape. Should she get on his good side? No he already realized she didn't like him....

For the first time, she was breathless. Save me...Suddenly a voice, male presumably, interrupted the already dark and dangerous scene. Her crimson eyes, for once frightened and wide, looked to his figure. Was he here for her too? Would there be too men that were going to bother her? Taking one step back, her hands clammy and trembling, she stopped realizing he was going to offer help. What...? She slowly nodded, her body twitching. She didn't like this situation.

((A little short, but gets the point across and now waiting on Scarecrow...))

Kraizen Jerrickson

Even in the dark, it was obvious to him from her reactions that the girl was frightened. If not that, she was really on edge and jumpy. He saw the silent plea in her eyes as their gazes met and nodded, "Alright then..."

Turning his attention to the man, he muttered a few quick words under his breath. "Cita Terra Crescere" The ground shook and a rocky wall shot up from the ground between the girl and her assailant, blocking the armed man off from getting any closer to her and removing him from her sight. "I'm going to have to ask you to please leave, Sir. The young lady does not want you bothering her."

He made no other threatening postures, but the warning in his voice was obvious enough. He didn't want to have to get violent if it could be avoided, but he wasn't going to stand by and let this guy harass a girl for no reason. It was a side-effect of being the one to help raise his siblings, three of them being girls.

"Hi, Ran. What's up?"

Rantashi almost didn't react to the greeting, not used to having people converse with him. He hadn't had a real talk with anyone since his graduation months before. Luckily though, he was just able to grasp the use of his name - or at least an abbreviated version, and realised that it was actually him that was being spoken to. That.. and there was no-one else around. The boy's gaze moved swiftly to meet the one who'd greeted him, only his eyes making a movement; everything else stood completely still. Rantashi was quite the statue, so much so that at one point he'd been surprised that Earth hadn't been the Element that chose him.

A moment passed by as the boy's eyes took in details. Brown eyes and blonde hair to the shoulders. Finally, the face registered with a name in the Mage's Mind. "Oh. Hello Inai." He greeted stifly, no emotion playing on his face. This wasn't due to a hatred or even a dislike towards poor Inai, Ran simply didn't know how to use emotion properly, so he used none at all. Logic and rational thinking replaced emotion and jumping to conclusion - he found it was better that way. He understood the ways in which emotions worked, but couldn't understand exactly how one implemented them into everyday life. It seemed too much of a task, and one he needed not concern himself with.

"What's up..?" He repeated the question given him, as though Inai had spoken in a foreign language. Once again, logic kicked in. "The night sky, skyscrapers, aircraft, birds..? What an odd question to ask someone." he answered. Never having gained friends or kept up with the slang of contemporary times, socially speaking he was rather inept. Regardless, he continued on the with the conversation Inai had started, knowing enough about socialising to realise that it was one of the more polite things to do. "I do not quite understand your presence here; it is after hours on a weekend." The boy paused for a moment to contemplate viable reasons...

As far as he could see, there was no reason for a Graduate to be there at this time of night on a weekend, unless of course they lived at the Academy, and Ran was almost entirely sure he was the only one who did. "Yet here you are just leaving the Academy Library." he continued, before stating rather rudely.
"Here I was thinking that my life was filled with free time. You must really not have a life if you're here..." His facial expression showed no signs of malicious nature - the comment had been entirely innocent. Hopefully Inai knew him well enough to understand that...

Scarecrow waited for a response of some kind. He was disappointed when all she did was cradle her arm. Her insignia had grown vigorously he noted, something that happened when you let the blood lust take control even once. His master had warned him of this and it was the reason he never killed innocents. Scarecrow opened his mouth to say something when there was a noise from the alleyway. Another man was calling to them, "Pardon my intrusion..." He said in a calm manner and approached them. He stopped a respectable distance from the two of them so that he was sideways from them. "But is this guy bothering you, Miss?" He gestured to Scarecrow.

‘Great’, Scarecrow thought, ‘this probably looks bad, but to hell with it, this isn’t what it looks like.’ Looking back at Nila he saw her eyes pleading to the man approaching them. Sighing, Scarecrow readied himself for a conflict with the unknown man. Utilising his training Scarecrow could see this man was proficient with the earth element and he wasn’t surprised at what happened next. The man turned his attention to Scarecrow, and muttered a few quick words under his breath.

The ground shook and a rocky wall shot up from the ground between Nila and Scarecrow, blocking him from getting any closer to her and removing him from her sight. "I'm going to have to ask you to please leave, Sir” Stated the man, “The young lady does not want you bothering her." Scarecrow wasn’t shocked that elemental magic had been used, but the speed and accuracy of the wall was impressive. He had called up the earth without the tremors that amateurs usually caused, this guy was definitely proficient. With Nila blocked from him Scarecrow turned his attention to the man, absorbing any details about the man that could be useful.

The man was tall, with lean legs and arms, but his body was clearly the build of a farmer. His tanned body and toned muscles were clearly the result of repetitive outdoor labour. His hands were dirty, a side-effect of the earth element. His eyes were a dark green and he wore his hair in a ponytail. From what Scarecrow could tell, this guy was strong, but he was clearly untrained in fighting and had probably never killed anything other than animals for food.

In some ways Scarecrow envied the man, a man who didn’t have to kill, and he had probably had a proper upbringing too, maybe even attended the academy. Scarecrow snorted at this last thought. Still there was a manner for respect to be had for this man who had openly challenged an armed man in a dark alley. Knowing that Nila wouldn’t get far even with the wall Scarecrow asked the man just one thing.

“Who the hell are you?”

Kraizen Jerrickson
Reinoa City-Center Streets
Late Evening

The armed individual wasn't reacting quite the way that Kraizen was expecting. He expected him to either make a run for it or attack him. But instead, he inquired about him. Kraizen shook his head. "My name is of no concern. I don't get into the habit of handing it out to armed strangers not in the city guard either. If you leave now, I will not stop you. Just don't go around harassing people."

Kraizen glanced at the girl for a short moment and made a short motion with his hand. "Terra Objectum Movet" The ground underneath of her shifted up ever so slightly and started shuffling away, carrying her with it. It wasn't moving too fast, but it was going to get her a safe distance away and give her a head start if the armed man tried to pursue her around the wall.

As that was happening, he began to move further away from the man, but kept his eye on him, walking backwards down the street in the same direction he sent the girl and wondering if the armed man was going to cause any further trouble. If necessary, he would raised a large wall to block his movement. It would take a lot of energy and probably wear him out, but it would at least give the girl plenty of time to get away.
