Life... It's full of its ups and downs. It's twists and turns... But isn't that boring? Things are bound by so many rules. But change the rules a bit and you have a completely different story... One story, so many ways to tell it. Thursday August 4th, 12:30 P.M: It's an almost disgustingly normal day. The weather is nice with a temperature of 82.2 degrees farenheit, people are out, going about their lives. Lives that consist of themselves, with little thought to anything but the immediate. There was a concert in the bandstand of the city park, the band wasn't exactly great but hey, what were you gonna do? It was a Thursday after all, and just after noon... There were only so many that could really attend. But some teenagers off of school were in attendance, and people on their lunch breaks had stopped by... But that was really all. Yes, extraordinary things are certainly hard to come by, or they were... But of yet the world will continue to suspect nothing... That's how we find our heroes... or villians, or simply bystanders. The truth all depends on your point of view... Edited by Poise&Poison, May 27, 2011, 2:58 am.

James sat in the park listening to the band playing. He recognized the instrument, knew their cords what frequency they played at and the pitch of each and ever note. If he didn't know, then well he would be crippled by the fact he didn't. His hetrochromatic eyes looked over the small band. He didn't know their lives, however he knew their names, at least their stage names. James wore his usual black shirt, jeans and shoes. Just another day in his otherwise boring life. Sometimes he wished for the worlds he read of in books. Steampunk world of Victorian airships and clockwork automatons, or a world where magic existed and he could use it to do whatever he liked. He was soon lost in daydreams of flying a massive airship or fighting a huge black dragon souting it's deadly acid. |

Ashlie sighed and looked around, bored slightly, but also fairly content seeing as she was relaxing for a bit. Being a paralegal was harder then she had expected, but she loved it so she didn't have much to complain about. She was off of work for the rest of the day, they had some interns covering the smaller stuff, and her big study was mostly a work in progress at her home saved for late nights every day of the week. She actually had a lot of slack, she was one of the more dedicated paralegals in her office, not the best, but making her way up the ranks. As she walked she glanced at the band that was playing. Not the worst, so it was good to have them there randomly. Humming to the repeated drum line she unbuttoned her over shirt. It was off hours now, so she didn't have to be so dressy and formal anymore. It wasn't expensive clothing, just something that you would expect on a lawyer or someone that had a normal desk job at an office. Soft lavender mixed with subdued greys didn't match her personality at all, but the should bag she had slung on her body did. Black with neon colors paint splatters stood out against her pencil skirted thigh, and seemed whimsical on her. Her hair was up in a studious bun, but she soon fixed that, letting it down and shaking her head slightly. She almost looked like a librarian that was letting loose or something, smiling and sitting on a park bench to listen to the band more. Taking a sketch pad out from the should bag, she started to draw the band preforming. |

The first incident: So much could happen in such a small time... And the oddest part about it was that people would just write it off most times. They would see something that just didn't fit in their own little world, just out of the corner of their eye. But no, that was simply a trick of the light. And of course it usually is an optical illusion. But there is always that unnerving moment before the mind gets to rationalize what's going on... That moment where the impossible seems possible. Where that little child inside lets its imagination run rampant. And then its gone. That day in the park... was the beginning of the time wheer people would have to listen more to their innner child. Just to stay sane, but it started with the smallest things. There in the park was James, listening to the band play... He could pick out the chords that the band could play... And he had a big imagination. He would be fun to play with. That's when a small annoying ringing started in his ears, an emrging case of tenitis? But somehow he would start mishearing some of the chords. Just a few, enough to make him wonder what was up with himself. Enough to start to unnerve him. Ashlie was a somewhat different story, a generally creative soul who had for some reason decided a paralegal was the career for her. She allowed herself to be cooped up in a law firm and worked hard and studiously. Such an important job she worked... And that's the story we'll stick too. But her world was too well defined as well. And the poor girl had a soft core... What would it take to shake her? A dog walked into her line of sight and paused, sniffing something on the ground, then it seemed to notice her... It looked her straight in the eyes for a moment then smiled in a doggy way. Then it did something not very doglike at all, It winked at her, then turned and ran off. A trick of the light indeed... |

Belle had decided to cut through the park on her way to a store across town. The route was shorter and the hot weather was murder. She hoped the trees would provide some shade for her to bask in briefly. She paused near the entrance of the park to uncap the bottle of water she had. Taking a sip, her ears picked up the sound of music. Intrigued, she made her way over to where groups of people were spread out to listen to the band. She found a shaded spot under a tree. Belle smoothed her hands down the back of her knee-length skirt as she squatted down to sit on the grass. She dropped her water bottle next to her feet then hugged her knees closer to her chest. The music was good, a little rough around the edges, but most local bands were. She began to tap both of her feet to the beat. The movement caused her to rock back and forth slightly but she never lost her balance. With her eyes trained on the lead singer, she knew only the show ending would get her out of the shade and back on her mission to the store. |

James blinked at the the first note he heard wrong. Was it the player himself? no it couldn;t be. The man was playing the song and chords perfectly. He shook his head. He picked out his left ear with is pinkie, brining out no significant ear wax. What in the anme of God was going on? He was slightly worried now, he didn;t know what was happening, he cwas sure this would end soon. If it didn't, well he might have a panic attack. when he withdrew into himself and his mind raced to find out what was happening. He woudl rather it not happen here in public. Not many people knew him, however, he did have a potential reputation to keep up. He always found it weird how he litterally didn't fear anything, ecept the unkown, or not knowing. His distress soon became appearent on his face. He didn't like this one bit. It was very much distrubing. While most people would find it merely strange, James found it horrifying. |

What a beautiful day, the air was fresh; his lunch was looking delicious if only the band would stop playing that infernal racket; it was saddening watching such young musicians be on stage, playing their instrument as they probably dreamed of stardom: a life of selling out their souls and creative process for large amounts of drugs, backstage girls and money. Granted, from the way they looked drugs were probably already in the mix, though they were outside during daylight which scraps that hypothesis. Wade always came to the park for his lunch break, especially on bright sunny days. Albeit, he loves working in a small cubicle with a phone headset explaining to an elderly woman what the internet is and why her email isn’t working. That last sentence isn’t sarcasm; carte blanche for belittling the elderly with niceness and politeness? Sold! Especially when said elderly are higher up and CEOs: just goes to prove that titles don’t reflect our own intellectual superiority. He was in a service desk, and the company he worked at gave technical support to most of the businesses in the city. So many people having trouble with their programs, or their computers; most issues being quick fixes that Wade has the privilege of walking them through, would call. Speaking of which, the man in question shook his head slightly as his usual bench had been taken by a kissing couple. He looked around, and spotted a half-empty bench: being occupied by a woman in a loosened business formal wear, with her hair down and seemingly drawing. He made his way over to her. “Excuse me?” He said clearly and distinctly, loud enough to be heard over the cacophony. “Didn’t mean to break your bubble, but is the other half of the bench taken?” A thought just occurred to him: she was probably in one of the offices nearby, how small would the world have to be for him to have serviced her? Though, he doesn’t look like much, he’d probably fit in with the fans of the band. White t-shirt, old jeans and running shoes, and let us not forget the all-dressed hot-dog he was carrying. |

Ashlie glanced up at the dog and watched it curiously for a moment, a slight smile on her face. When it looked up at her and seemed to smile, she grinned even wider at it, and went to hold her hand out, when it winked. She blinked a few moments and stared after the animal as it ran away. The had that had been stretched towards it had snapped back, and was running through her hair in a nervous fashion. She set her pencil back in her bag carefully and went to put her sketch pad in the bag as well when a man approached her and asked if the bench was open for him to sit at. A practiced blanking of the face occurred, and a smile took the place of her worried frown as she turned to speak to him cheerfully. "Oh, no, of course have a seat! Beautiful day today isn't it?" She pushed the dog out of her mind for now, but it would come back to haunt her before she went to bed for the night. Setting her bag on the ground near her feet, she stepped one leg through it carefully so that it wouldn't be stolen easily, and looked back at the man. He seemed relaxed, and happy to be in the nice weather, and the hot dog in his hand made her stomach growl. She realized that she hadn't eaten yet today, and it was getting late to eat lunch. Smiling she commented on her stomachs noises. "That look delicious, how much was it? I'd love to pick one up on my way back home when I've soaked enough sun up to power my battery." She sounded so cheerful, it was odd for someone that was dressed as she was, so formal and drab. She loved video games and computers, art and music more then anything, but also loved studying and learning, which is what she did in her job as a paralegal. It was odd, but it worked for her. It also let her gain the confidence to be the way that she was without worrying about what others thought of her. Glancing around the park she saw the kissing couple, and realized how long it has been since she had even had something remotely romantic happen to her, and sighed wistfully before glancing up out of respect to privacy to the couple, even though they were all in a public park. [/i]It really is rude to stare Ashlie, don't be a doof now![/i] |

How sad; her voice didn’t ring a bell. He returned the rather cheerful smile to her with one of his own as he sat down on the bench, taking a bite out of his hot-dog. It was a perfect bite, one that managed to get the exact proportion of each ingredient, and avoided smearing his face with food. He chewed and kind of looked away as he swallowed his bite, wiped his mouth with the cheap thin napkin that came with the bought hot-dog and made sure his mouth was food-free before finally turning to answer her comment. “Oh sorry; I wasn’t expecting a conversation to start from my simple little query. I must agree with you. The day is truly beautiful. The bright sun is warm enough for me to get out in a simple T-shirt, but not hot enough for us to suffer through it. The breeze is cool and inviting, the trees and grass have so much colour and so much life in them that it nearly makes you forget that we’re in the city.” He said with a bright sincere smile, before turning his back to her again; as he munched and devoured his hot-dog quickly. He didn’t know what she expected as a response. She took the time to bother asking him a question, why not go extravagant in his answer? He’s a bit of a pig, minus the squealing, when he eats, yet he manages to keep his shirt clean. The hot-dog was consumed rather quickly. He was hungry, and it showed, and even that piece of food wasn’t enough to quench him fully. Wade turned back to face the paralegal. “Hmm?” He looked around the park where he saw the hot-dog vendor, but didn’t see him anymore. “The hot-dog man is nowhere to be seen. It wasn’t expensive though, I’m sure he’s still doing his rounds.” He then shrugged. “My, oh my… I was so caught up in my hunger. I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Wade; Wade Ackington and you are?” He held up his hand towards her. He wasn’t expecting on making a bench buddy; life is so random it made things interesting. Like when he met that elderly man on the bus who was kind enough to share some rather unconventional wisdom. His black rimmed glasses slipped a bit on the rim of his nose. So much could happen in any story... People meet everyday, but just things that are said one little mishearing or unexpected happening can completely change the way people interact... The band changed into a slower song one about summer fading into autumn, freezing to winter, and finally giving birth to spring. The seasons changed, but there changes were so scheduled... So... planned. Well... that was the exact type of routine that was about to change. At first it was just a few flakes but within minutes things had become a full on blizzard. But the band kept on playing as if they didn't even notice it. Other people in the park however began to run for cover, conveinantly enough there were a few small pavillions throughout the park. And as if to enforce the oddness of the situation lightning split the sky overhead followed immediately by a deafening clap of thunder. But oddly enough the sun was clearly still shining between the clouds... Such bizarre weather eh? But tomorrow surely the meteorologists would be able to explain it wouldn't they? In the meantime.... That hotdog didn't seem to be agreeing with a certain Mr. Ackington. At the same time a Mr. Joey Davidson began dancing in front of the bandstand in his underwear, totally engrossed in the music and moving his pale, skinny body in some sort of tribal dancing fashion that was totally bizarre. Why not? The oddest times call for the oddest measures. |

Eli was quietly walking through the park minding her own business as usual. She liked to take quiet walks in the park but todays venue had thrown that for a twist. She was slightly irked that a band was disrupting the quiet with the discord they called music but nothing like that would be able to disrupt her calm and serenity. She saw a few people making out and found thoughts of Joe her ex boyfriend came into her mind. He had went to an out of state college after graduation effectivly ending their relationship. She was not mad at his decision and they still talked from time to time. A faint smile touched her lips as her eyes whisked past a man scarfing down a hotdog. Not wanting to be rude she kept on walking towards her favorite tree in the park. It was an extremely old live oak tree that had foilage that hung down and touched the ground. When she was about halfway there a cold substance touched her shoulder. Startled she turned around and watched as snow flakes slowly floated to the ground. At the sight she squeeled in glee and started spining around letting the light snow coat her hair. Who cared if it was summer and it shouldnt be snowing? Not Eli she loved the snow and today it was wonderous. A loud crack of lightning disrupted her glee and startled her. Looking over toward the blackened ground she decided it was best not to go to her tree and instead made her way toward a pavilion. On passing the stage she noticed Joey a fellow student at the college dancing around in his underwear. Bewildered as she was she continued on toward the pavilion. The snow had started to make her bare legs and arms cold so she started to run toward it. |

James blinked at seeing the first few flakes. His midn wnet into overdrive once more, tryign to figure out wha twas going on with all this. His midn was so engrossed with what it was thinking he didn;t notice the flash of lightning.....however the blast just about knocked him off the bench. HOLY SHIT!!!! The snow was coming down even harder and he noticed people running toward cover. He saw a lone female running to an empty one and he followed her, no doubt others would join him. As he ran his mind was going on abotu lightning in a blizzard. He didn't think it possible, though once his mind was in the zone he saw the possibility, however a blizzard i nthe middle of summer, something, somethign was wrong. He stopped besides the female who wore summer time clothesl ike him. He looeko ver for a brief second and said, " Cr....crazy wather huh?" He shivered some, the codl was getting to him. If he kenw the tempature he coudl say how long it would take for hypthermia to set in. They would need to head into a building soon. |

The snow didn't affect her at first. Belle sat there and squinted at the crowds dispersing. Then she noticed the flakes as they got larger. Suddenly, she was getting covered in some of them under the tree's branches. She shivered as they landed on her bare legs. She pulled her legs in closer to try to keep herself warm. "I should probably go soon anyway," she mumbled to herself. Then she decided to get up. As she rose to her feet, a crack of lightning shot down followed by loud thunder. She bit down a scream from the shock. She bent down to get her bottle and then took off at a jog in the direction she had originally been walking. She managed to look up and saw the sun still shining overhead. Belle furrowed her brow as she ran toward a pavilion. It was the most bizarre weather that she had ever experienced. Belle slowed down her pace when she neared the overhang. A few others who looked around her age were under there too. She didn't stand too close to them but leaned against the wall. She looked out over the park. It was definitely a blizzard. "There is no way I'm getting to the store now," she muttered. |

That was it for the day... After all there had to be something in store for a later day right? Let them talk about it... Let them wonder what had just happened. Let them dismiss it all. There in the pavillion was just such a girl. Her name was Christine Issacs, she sat there, watching the weather... before she finally voiced what was on her mind. "Is this really happening?" Her question was directed at all of them, and none of them, all at once... Was it really happening? Yes that it was... It was snowing, and there was an electrical storm at the same time, the wind blew the snow everywhere, like in a frenzy, of course the band didn't seem to notice and neither did Joey davidson, still dancing in his underwear. Someone took out their iphone, pics and videos, the pics of which to be posted on /b/ timestamp included. And then, as suddenly as it started the storm subsided, the temperature began to rise rapidly as the sun shown through the clouds and the lightning stopped too... In about twenty minutes it would just be a regular day again. The snow would melt and nothing else would disturb their false sense of security. |
