I decided to keep the skeleton relatively simple. You can post your character first, if you want. (Just keep in mind that mine's going to be rather stoic.)

Name: Fionnlagh (pronounced, Finley), aka Finn.

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Personality: Fionnlagh suffers from extreme depression, and for good reason. He considers himself a walking curse. The only reason he hasn't tried to kill himself more often is because of his faith. Hope is all he has left in the world, even if it is distant and fragmented.

Appearance: Fionnlagh stands around 5'8", with a lean build from performing physical labor for the monks (see below). He has a typically Irish appearance: red hair, which he wears down to his shoulders, with fair yet freckly skin. Though his eyes are a soft green, the area underneath is sunken-in and dark, giving him a permanent appearance of tiredness.

History: Fionnlagh doesn't remember his parents. They died before he formed any memories. The people that found him thought it an absolute miracle that he survived alone for as long as he did. His parents must have been dead at least a week by then, if not more. The orphanage run by the monks at the monastary took him in, not only willingly, but with excitement at the arrival of this "miracle child" - delivered by God.

It only took five years for people to change their mind about him.

One death is a part of life. When the other boy in the room passed away in the night, no one thought anything of it. Sometimes, children just die.

Two deaths is a curiosity. It seemed that the boy was meant to suffer, losing first one friend and then another.

When the number of mysterious deaths around him had risen above five, the "miracle" in his title was exchanged for "cursed." A stigma like that passes around like the plague, and by the time he was ten, people were avoiding him like the plague.

That was around the first time he tried to kill himself. He went out to cut the firewood - his usual chore, considering how little he minded the winter coolness - and with tears in his eyes, prepared to fall upon the axe blade. Yet just as he was about to fall, the church bells rang. They cut through the winter air, playing out, and it was as if they were crying just for him.

The faith was his only recourse, his only sanctuary in a world that spurned him for things beyond his control. The monks were the only ones who could still stand to be in his presence. Everyday, he prayed for the "curse" to be lifted - for the hand of the divine to reach down, so all the world could see, that he was just like them, that he was no more danger than them.

It still hasn't happened.

And so, for the last seven years, he has slept alone in a remote part of the monastary, and each night, he prays again. Maybe one day, he'll wake up, and everything will be better.

Maybe not.

Weapon of Choice: None, yet.

Powers: Finn was naturally born as what those in the know call a "thermal vampire." His body possesses the magical ability to absorb heat and energy, both as a defense mechanism and to energize himself. This is not something he is even fully aware of yet, let alone able to control. So far, it has only manifested in times of intense physical distress. That his life has been without physical threats so far means that he has only been a danger in his sleep, when this ability has been accidentally activated by his nightmares.

Other Information: Fionnlagh has latent magical potential that has yet to be noticed or unlocked. Given enough time and if trained by the right people, he could become extremely powerful.

Name: Kavil

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Personality: Kavil has a personality? That's news. He's usually a blank slate so far as emotions go. He doesn't talk much, nor does he see any point in making casual conversation. Put him in a social situation and he sticks out like an awkward sore thumb. Though without him feeling awkward. The people around him are those who feel awkward. He just... exists there. He sees himself as solely a tool for the benefit of the assassins guild he belongs to. Tools don't need emotions. Tools just act as directed. He doesn't want to become a broken tool, because he's had to discard enough of those already.

Appearance: Kavil is easy on the eyes, to say the least. He's not strikingly handsome, but he got some good genes from his parents so far as appearances go. He is a bit on the short side--only 5'5"--but every inch of him seems to be mostly muscle. Hardly any fat on him at all, considering how much training he does. He's in great shape.

He has blue-gray eyes and long black hair which he keeps tied back in a low ponytail most of the time. His hair is usually soaked with blood whenever he comes back from missions, along with his clothes. Some wonder why he doesn't just cut all of his hair off and save him the trouble of washing the blood out of it, but he doesn't care. It's oddly therapeutic for him to wash his hair, and the most emotion he seems to show appears while he's brushing it or washing it.

History: Kavil's parents abandoned him when he was a small child. He was taken in my another family who treated him like he was their own son, but they didn't do much to search for him after he was kidnapped in the middle of the night. He was taken to the headquarters of the assassins guild, and he was forced to join their ranks. They had originally intended for him to be used just to unlock doors because his strange talents allowed him to bypass physical barriers, but upon starting to train Kavil, the other assassins noticed the boy's natural spark for combat. He trained harder than any other assassin there, and soon he had just about mastered the use of several types of blades. He tended to avoid other weapons, and his mastery of throwing knives and daggers incited many heated discussions between the higher-ups in the guild. They decided to put him to more use than just getting older and more experienced assassins inside, and when he was ten, he was sent on his first deadly mission.

He hadn't quite understood what he'd been trained for until he was standing over the sleeping form of the woman he was supposed to kill. Her and her infant son. Both of them had to die, but Kavil didn't want to do it. However, with another guild assassin standing nearby to kill him if he refused to eliminate his targets, he had no choice. He didn't want to kill, but he didn't want to die. So he killed the woman and the baby, and he was a wreck by the time the other assassin got him back to the guild headquarters.

He was scolded harshly by his superiors for crying over killing someone. No one showed sympathy. They'd all killed before, and they though a ten-year-old was mature enough to handle taking the lives of innocent people. Kavil wasn't, though, and something snapped inside him under the harsh reprimands he received. He stopped crying, but he also stopped feeling. Everything else felt so dulled, and as he killed more and more people, he couldn't even remember what it was like to smile or laugh. He'd thrown himself into his training before because he loved playing with the weapons and seeing the looks on people's faces when he did something extraordinary with them, but now he trained just for the purpose of killing more and more efficiently. He quickly rose through the ranks of the guild assassins, and now he is considered to be the best the guild has to offer. Which also means that he has the honor of killing any guild members who break the rules. So much killing, and he's only nineteen.

Weapons of Choice: Daggers and throwing knives

Powers: Kavil is able to take on almost a ghost-like state of being. While doing this, he can pass through walls and other physical barriers without hindrance. This has limitations, however. He cannot take on this ghost-like form when someone is touching him, and it exhausts him to stay in this form for more than a few seconds at a time.

I'll whisper in your ear,
You are mine, and you will never have to be alone.
And when I pull you near,
You'll know I love you like I never loved anyone.
So let me be the one to lift you up,
I'll carry you home.
'Cause now I'm here to keep you safe,
And to catch you when you fall.
