{{pitifully short intro... but it's something...}} {{oh, and the name is kinda iffy right now... not sure how much I like it}} Vampires. An ever present threat to society, one that has grown enough to make the people act on their own to take care of things. There are towns specifically for training Vampire Hunters, those who fearlessly take on the enemy to get rid of their tainted influences and annoyances. With the Hunter's reputation growing, the vampires have learned what places to avoid, if they valued their life. At least, the older vampires do. Some of the younger ones, or those that are ignorant, even arrogant at times, sometimes chance upon the wrong places at the wrong times, and they don't get to learn from their mistake. No second chances when it comes to dealing with their opposition, the Hunters. So our story starts, in one Vampire Hunter village, where a vampire, unused to this particular area, wanders into town, unaware of the fate that would await him there. ~~~~~ Within this village lived the fighter Mikaela, a feisty young girl who fights with a vengeance. Her family had been killed in a vampire attack, and the young lass had barely managed to survive herself. Now nineteen, she had trained in the battle styles, learning quickly and becoming deadly accurate with her movements. Confident in her abilities, she wanted nothing more than to hunt down those that had taken her family from her. However, she had no luck in her search. Bored on this day, the girl wandered through the village streets. She was paying little attention to her surroundings, or so it would look to others. While her mind was wandering, Mikaela was quite aware of her surroundings, and the people around her. She just knew them, and felt no threat, so she was relaxed in her walk through the town. If only something exciting would happen. |

((I made up for the shortness. lol)) Traveling during the daylight hours was not a pleasant experience for Nihil, the vampire who had been fortunate--unfortunate, more like--enough to be asked by his employer to find and destroy a pack of werewolves. These werewolves had completely destroyed one of the farm villages which supplied Nihil's home city with its food, and therefore dealing with the werewolves was quite important. Hence why Nihil had been given the job rather than one of the humans working in the law enforcement area. A werewolf bite would not cause any unfortunate complication to Nihil. Nihil spent most of his nights on this mission as a wolf, tracking his quarry by scent. Of course, his vulnerability to sunlight persisted even as a wolf, and so he was forced to become human in form during the day and keep himself wrapped up tightly in his cloak. Even then, the presence of the sunlight was bothersome to him. It caused a constant ache which he couldn't escape from except by taking shelter indoors, but such places were few and far between out in the wilderness. He was coping with the discomfort, but he was looking forward to resuming his former routine of keeping indoors during the day and walking the streets of his city at night. Peeking out from under the hood of his cloak, he saw a village up ahead. He'd been stopping in villages as often as he was able in order to get information and a meal. He hadn't fed in nearly three days, and his thirst was like a constant burn in his throat. It wasn't so bad that he couldn't keep himself in line, but if he didn't feed soon, he couldn't guarantee that he would keep control. Particularly in the presence of blood. Making his decision, he picked up the pace and headed to the village. His hood cut off his peripheral vision, but he noticed the odd looks he was receiving easily enough. Then again, it wasn't that strange for someone to be walking around in a heavy cloak with the hood up at this time of year. The air was quite cold, and many people walking the streets were similarly shrouded to keep themselves warm. As he strode down the main street, he looked around for the local tavern. Those were excellent places to seek information, and it was also quite easy to feed from someone who was too drunk to know what was going on or remember it in the morning. But as he walked, he felt many eyes following his movements. People around here seemed to lower their hoods at times as seemingly a common courtesy, and the sight of it was a cause of some confusion for the vampire. Why would they feel the need to do that? He had his answer soon enough when he suddenly found his hood being yanked off. The sunlight illuminated his high ponytail of long, black hair and his rather interestingly-decorated face--he wore quite a bit of make-up including a white base, some blush on his cheeks, red lipstick, eyeliner, and dark eyeshadow which brought out the extremely rare lilac color of his eyes--and Nihil gave a sharp gasp of pain. He seized the hood and put it back in place, his body shaking badly from the shock of the sunlight exposure. Thankfully, his hood was not messed with again. Instead, he found his arms being grabbed in tight grips to restrain him. A gruff voice behind him said, "You're coming with us, vampire," and another voice chimed in, "It's to the jailhouse with you!" Any thoughts of struggling went out of Nihil's head when he realized that he was being arrested. These men worked in law enforcement, and fighting them would only give them a real reason to arrest him. He'd cooperate for now. "I have done nothing--" he started to say, but one of the men who had grabbed him gave him a hard punch to the gut to silence him. That normally would not have phased Nihil, but the silver gauntlet the man had on his hand made the blow hurt far worse than it would have otherwise, and Nihil doubled over in pain. "Shut your damn mouth, monster!" the one who had punched him snapped. "Take him away!" They started to pull Nihil toward a building at the center of the town, and the vampire could hardly move from the pain that was still in his middle. It was perhaps for the best that he couldn't move, considering that he would have certainly started to struggle as soon as he was indoors if he wasn't already in pain. The air in here reeked of garlic, and Nihil felt terribly disoriented as they dragged him along. After going down a hallway, the men who were holding him shoved him forward into a jail cell which, to Nihil's horror, had mirrors hung all over the walls. He immediately curled up in the middle of the cell, cowering like a frightened child in the presence of all of these mirrors. The men laughed at his fear, and one of them remarked, "I never get tired of seeing the creatures cower when something as stupid as a mirror is in front of them." "It's hilarious," another said, and he banged his silver gauntlet on the equally silver bars of the cell before saying, "Let's get out of here, boys. Gotta keep looking for these beasts. This one's not going anywhere, and we'll kill him tomorrow morning." There were murmurs of agreement, and the group left Nihil alone. Edited by That Butler, March 23, 2011, 8:23 pm.
