The year is 2028. In 2012, an explosion of unknown origin over the Pacific ocean caused the emergence of a landmass the size of New York City from the very depths of the sea. The UN took control of the island, but eventually opened it up to the public--upon which scientists, civilians, governments, corporations, all began to crowd into the island, some seeking to uncover the secrets of this new land, others seeking to make money, others escaping from their own pasts. Five years later, the landmass was home to a sprawling metropolis called Paragon City--a jewel of humanity, some said, built through the efforts of nations around the world. In 2020, researchers studying the explosion that had created Paragon Island found an outburst of energy, similar to the one that had been detected just before the explosion that created the Island. This time, however, no explosion came--in fact, no change was noticed at all, and some days later, daily life in the City went back to normal. A couple of weeks after the incident, however, various citizens of Paragon City discovered they were beginning to manifest abilities they had previously thought possible only in fiction--and yet it was only too real. Soon after this, a number of people, deciding to use their newfound powers to spread violence and destruction, began to terrorise the city. Paragon Island went into a state of emergency as newly created super beings rampaged through the City, killing civilians and taking what they desired. In response, the UN organised a group of similar people who had come about unusual abilities but were determined to stop the horrendous rampage of the super powered criminals tormenting Paragon. Unlike the villains, who used their powers without control and without care, these new heroes learned to control and know their powers, and were deployed back to Paragon to attempt to beat back the villains, who had all but conquered Paragon City and turned it into hell. After months of bitter fighting the heroes had managed to take down many of the terrorist supervillains. The UN, using new technology confirmed to be capable of disabling or at least muting the abilities of a super being, created the most high security prison in the world to house these most dangerous of criminals, where their powers were kept well under control and not the slightest chance was taken. Paragon City slowly but surely rebuilt, and soon it seemed the crisis had passed over. The heroes of the First Paragon City Disaster as it was known, soon faded from memory, and the UN, considered to account for every known powered individual, formed a Paragon Super Defense League to ensure the crisis never occurred again. However, by 2028, the UN had grown lax and for the most part most of the people even forgot about the existence of Paragon Prison. A disastrous mistake. Early that year, an unknown group of super beings, having laid low since the First Disaster, managed to penetrate the Prison's security systems, destroying the controls of the devices that disabled the powers of the prisoners within, who were only too happy to find their newfound freedom. By the time the UN was ready to act and alert the PSDL, the villains had begun to wreak havoc across Paragon City, under the leadership of a group of the most powerful villains that called itself the Renegades. Different members of the Renegades had different goals--some wanted to break out of Paragon Island and impose their own twisted ideals on the world, some wanted only financial and personal gain, others simply wanted to cause death and destruction for their own sick purposes. As the city spiraled into an anarchy that began to mirror the chaos of the First Disaster, the PSDL galvanised into action. Operating from one of the few safe havens that yet existed on the Island, the PSDL worked to take down the Renegades' top leaders. As the PSDL and the Renegades waged brutal, super powered war across the city and the Island, other powered individuals, desiring only safety for themselves and their loved ones, attempted to create small pockets of safety and peace throughout the island. Meanwhile, the UN considers the deployment of a nuclear weapon onto the Island to end the crisis once and for all--extinguishing millions of lives, villain, hero, neutral, and civilian. What will you do, as one of those who find themselves empowered? Will you fight to save the lives of millions of terrified innocents--or will you be among those responsible for one of mankind's greatest catastrophes? Character Skeleton Characters Rules 'n Such Note. I created this RP while high off Judas Priest's Painkiller. So I may or may not wake up tomorrow (with a Judas Priest hangover) and realise this is a total bloody piece of shit. If so...who cares, I'mma listen to more Painkiller

![]() "It's like the universe screams in your face, 'Do you know what I am? Do you know how grand I am, how old I am? Can you even comprehend what I am? What are you compared to me?' And when you've realised the truth and abandoned the fantasies, you can calmly smile back to the universe and say, 'Dude, I am you.'" -philhellenes | |
