Maria walked silently to her library, it was early morning, the sun had barley risen as snow made it's way to the earth. She shivered underneath a heavy charcoal gray coat.
Cold wasn't something she enjoyed, it was likely to only get colder which only worsened her mood. Once she got inside it would be an easy dilemma to fix.

Finally she made it up the front steps of the great library, unlocking the large doors she stepped inside. It wasn't any warmer in here, but she could change that.
Chanting a quick spell under her breath the air warmed up and she shed her coat, laying it on the front desk as she walked away to pick up a large stack of books that needed to go back on their shelves.

Most probably wouldn't believe her but she had read all of the books in the library, save for the newest ones people donated but it was only a matter of time before she added those to the list as well.
Maria didn't have much to do these days so reading a think tome in front of a fire was how she spent most of her days. Lucky for her she had inherited this library with two floors of books, including the locked room on the second floor. She had to keep all books concerning magic there. Although there weren't nearly as many tomes as she would have liked, finding books on magic were hard to find these days.
Maria stopped and started placing books on a shelf, making sure they were sorted by the authors last name in alphabetical order. She was picky about her books, and no one was going to change that.

Her stack of books was quickly emptied and Maria left to go grab another.

What may seem ordinary to some just might be a little more insane then you think. After all, since when have fairy tales just been stories?

The world was shades of gray, like an old movie, with the days playing over and over again like a broken record. Every day felt the same, with the same people and their same reactions. This witch felt void, without feeling, like a body that contained no heart or soul to feel with. When she knew she was going to die soon, she decided that feeling something, or being close to someone, would only not make the person sad, but tear at herself as well.

The day was young as a woman wearing a long jacket, hat covering her face and gloves covering her pale feeble hands that would turn darker, burn as she used her forbidden technique only once. Long, dark black hair, shot paat her shoulders and to her hips, her walk graceful and light as she walked towards the library to check out a few books for her class. They had read all the children's books she had checked out so she was going to exchange them for new ones.

Pushing through the grand doors of the acient building that at times she went for other reasons, such as meeting with other witches which Lock rarely payed attention to, she foubd the librarian, Maria, doing her normal routine she did every morning. But it is not as if Lock cared much for anything that witch did.

"Maria." Lock said coldly, announcing that she was there. "Have any more children's books I can use for my class?"

If there was one place Ivan Averin did not expect to find himself, it was the Holy City of Lucia. He was most certainly not a man of religion of any kind, and if asked would count himself as the sort of person who didn't care to bill himself as a follower, an atheist, or an agnostic. They were all the same to him.

Yet here he was, a glass of brandy held in his gloved fingers, at the Lucia Inn and Tavern. It struck Ivan that the 'tavern' part was merely to cater to passersby and travelers on their way to less 'holy' places, for the locals certainly spared no time in casting disapproving glances at the gunslinger and the alcoholic drink in his hand.

As it happened, Ivan himself was only passing through, on his way to a little town not far from here. This particular town was currently being routinely raided by a gang of bandits and thugs who, with each visit, took whatever they liked from the homes of the unfortunate townspeople. With no one to turn to, so close to the dangerous and feared ruins of Xavier, the townspeople had turned instead to a notorious lone gunslinger who was known to never miss a target with his guns. Ivan smirked to himself at the thought of his reputation. Of course none of them knew his skill was aided by magic, and none of them needed to know, either.

((Ran out of time to finish this post >_>))

"It's like the universe screams in your face, 'Do you know what I am? Do you know how grand I am, how old I am? Can you even comprehend what I am? What are you compared to me?' And when you've realised the truth and abandoned the fantasies, you can calmly smile back to the universe and say, 'Dude, I am you.'"

Maria looked up when soemone entered her library, she set down the stack of books she had on the desk and turned toward them.
The dark haired girl visited occasionally, more than most people, to check out books for her class. Of course, she had come for more children's books, she of course had a decent amount of children's books even if she didn't particularly like receiving them.
"Of course" she replied and started walking toward a specific section, motioning for the girl to follow her.
Maria had a shelf or section for each specific genre of books, and she of course knew where to find everything. Maria was a being of logic after all, she never forgot anything.

The lavender haired witch trailed her finger along the shelf, a bit of dust collecting on her fingers I really should clean more often Maria thought, before looking back to her guest.
"These are all of the childrens books, My library dose not have many of them but I'm sure you can find something new for you're class to read"

Positive the girl would be fine on her own, She walked away and sat down at a large desk, flipping through the pages of a book while she waited for Lock to pick out the books she wanted.
Every day for Maria was basically the same as the last, the only thing she really got to look forward to were the occasional guest and the meetings that took place here at night. She didn't mind. However she did mind having to clean, organize and manage this entire collection of books all by herself.
It took up most of her day, and didn't give her time to do much else.

Daniel Ryan Lynch

Knock. Knock. And a few times more. Daniel rapped his fist against the old wooden door of a small house out in the sparsely populated fringe areas around Lucia. It was not a hard knock, nor was it particularly soft. His knock was normal, unimposing, but had a feeling of urgency behind it. At least, that is how the couple inside felt as the man begrudgingly got up from the bed on the second floor. Half dressed and unshaven the unnamed man walked down the creaky stairs and to the front door of his falling apart shack of house. The woman called for him to just ignore it, but that really would not have helped considering the paper thin walls.

"I'll just tell him to go away. It's probably just some crooked salesman!" the man called back. Of course he knew the 'crooked salesman' outside could hear him. He knew his house was absolutely dreadful, but he really did not care what the man outside felt about him. He got to the door soon enough, still a bit hazed from the alcohol he had consumed earlier in the day. He wasn't an alcoholic, but the girl upstairs wasn't a picture of beauty either. One of his bloodshot eyes stared through the peephole and saw a dashing, friendly looking fellow who had an air of authority about him. The man was still pissed at being interupted, but Daniel's charming smile set him slightly at ease.

"What do you want?" the man asked as he swung open the front door to his not-so-humble abode.

"You look absolutely knackered, lad." Daniel started, as if he needed to point out of the obvious. The man looked a bit angry at his statement, so he raised his hands defensively, as if dismissing the previous thought. "Sorry, just an observation. Anyway, I'm just wondering if you've seen this character. He's got some crimes levied against him by the Church, real gobshite if ya ask me." At which point Daniel held up a finely drawn pencil sketch of the man who stood right in front of him.

"Well I'll be, you and him could be brothers. Unless, of course, this's you. Is it, lad?" Daniel said accusingly. The man looked Daniel in the eye and his fists balled up at his sides.

"What if it is? They had it coming."

"Lord, forgive this man of his sins and accept him through the gates of heaven." Daniel began his prayer. His hands remained at his sides but the fire inside him burned hotter with each passing second. "He dared to bastardize your name with his actions, but allow this to be his final punishment."

The man arched an eyebrow as Daniel prayed for his safe ascent in to heaven. The man, however, was not prepared to die and quickly raised a fist to his would-be executioner. "Your dumber than you look if you think I'll just roll over and die." the man said with a sneer as his fist flew forward.

Daniel caught the fist a few inches from his face with a hand and the flesh around the man's knuckles seared and melted away. Daniel closed his hand around the fist until the entire hand melted away, leaving only the stub that was his wrist attached to his arm. The man cried out in anguish as his hand melted away, signaling his partner upstairs to come running down the stairs. To silence the man Daniel raised a bladed hand to the man's throat and pressed the tips of his fingers into the very center. The flesh melted away once more and soon enough the man's throat was melted shut by the white hot hand of death.

"Pray for mercy while you still have air in your head." With that said, Daniel exited the house and disappeared into the alleys. Just as he was rounding the corner he heard the woman crouch down on the wooden floor. She didn't cry out, or do anything resembling anguish. The man was nothing to her except a quick roll in the hay and whatever money he had left. Now the money on him was hers and she could get her fix elsewhere. She left the house in short order as well, but saw no one who could have done the deed. Daniel was long gone, and heading further into the city.

Lock, disinterested with everything except the simple fascination of death and the admiration of children, looked around the library with a false interest. She had to be polite at least, this place was taken care of only one librarian, and it was considerably big. Did she clean it all by herself? Taking a good luck at the young librarian, Maria, if she were to be correct, she wondered if this woman used her magic for that sort of thing. Most witches used it just so they wouldn't have to do the actual labor, but with Lock's only magic being an attack, she had done everything the hard way anyway.

When Maria finally looked up however, Lock looked back, satisfied when she got the short reply of, "Of course" and quickly followed behind the woman, looking behind her one last time, in fear of someone watching her, before continuing to walk ahead. Lock always had been super careful when it came to everything, she felt that someone always had been watching her, and it was a disturbing thought. It always kept her slightly on edge when it came back to surprise her.

Nodding at where Maria showed her where the books were, holding the books she was going to return, her free hand slid through the backs of each book, the binding crinkling underneath her fingertips. What should her students read....? Ah! Picking a few fairytales, since children loved the thought of magic and a prince saving them from the dull life they led, Lock put those on top of her already big pile of books laying upon her arm. Walking back to Maria, she dropped off the books she had borrowed earlier, nodded in acknowledgment as she left.

It was as if she was never there.

She was late, as usual. Her students were probably waiting patiently in their seats at the little building she taught in, giggling as usual on the tardiness of their only teacher. She knew they didn't mind, they got extra time to play, and the parents didn't care about what they didn't know. But still, she didn't want to be too late, teaching children was the only happiness that was brought into her world of shades of gray. But even in her hurry, she bumped into a young man with fair blonde hair, making her books drop down across the floor below her, which made her sigh.

"Sorry dear sir, i was preoccupied with things on my mind. It was completely my fault." She admitted, as she looked up to the young man she had bumped into her, with the same disinterest as she gave everybody. He seemed to be well, religious, full of himself, had actual faith and hope, and those people were the kinds she hated. Why believe in something that wasn't real? Why have faith in something that never helped you? Lock had to do everything herself her entire life, she had never been "spared" or "helped" so she had no faith or hope. It was just how life was.

Bending down to pick up her books, she was planning to finish up and just leave the young man behind.

Edit: If anyone is confused, it's Daniel. I thought "religious" would pretty much sum him up.

Maria watched the girl leave, standing up she gathered the books Lock had left behind and moved to place them in the appropriate section. There was alwasy a lot to be done, her magic helped her with that, although it was risky, the government had been breathing down her neck and visiting the library often.
It made Maria nervous, but not to the point that she would worry too much.

After placing the last of the books away, she decided to take care of the dust. She started by standing in the middle of the library, chanting a simple spell that would put up a sort of shield around the entire library, invisible to the human eye. It was designed to pass through anything but also to gather the dust.
Once the spell was complete she started to shrink the shield, which passed through the walls, over the books shelves, collecting all the dust and gathering into her still shrinking shield.
She continued this proses until her spell had shrunk to the tiny cube in front of her, having gathered all of the dust inside it. She gently reached out and took the cube, carrying it to a small wooden box, lifting the lid she collapsed her spell, causing the dust to fall inside.

Maria looked around, running a finger along the nearest book shelf, not a single bit of dust left. Excellent.
After that she sat back down, placing her wooden box on the desk, writing down the names of the books lock had returned, and the ones she had taken.
The lavender haired witch sighed. There were far too little people in this town interested in her collection of books.

What may seem ordinary to some just might be a little more insane then you think. After all, since when have fairy tales just been stories?
