With a look of concern, Harriet inspected the water around her. It was a relatively calm day, but she didn't feel like taking any chances. As soon as Tera had hugged her, Harriet refused to let go.

"M-Master! Can the water really carry me away if I'm not careful? I... I don't want to be away from master Tera!" she expressed her concern like a small child shying from danger.

Tera laughed some as Harriet started cowering. Before she didn't know if the maid could swim, but now she could guess that Harriet could not. "Yes. But today looks quite calm so you should be safe so long as you don't go out too far." Tera stated as she turned Harriet toward the boy who was swimming around laughing and calling for his father to keep up. "If you want I can teach you to do what that boy is doing. Not here as it would take some time, but I could buy a pool for the house. It would be nice to get more use out of our bathing suits."

"I do know what swimming is, my master. I have read many books in my spare time, master! I know a lot about the world, but I've never experienced it. But, it never occurred to me that I wanted to go to these places before Master Tera came along..." Harriet cuddled into Tera. She had been doing it at first to avoid drowning, but now she was comfortable. The maid now looked more like a little girl.

"Master... why are you so kind to me, your servant? My job is to serve, not to be served... Is it not unbecoming of master to treat her servants as equals..?"

Harriet had a knack of asking hard questions when she felt like it.

Tera turned the pair and started leading them out of the water, once out she turned Harriet and started walking down the beach again with her. "I'm glad I have given you hope you can experience a lot of things now." She said, still holding Harriet even if the maid had let go, "I'm kind to you because you deserve it, you deserve to be happy just the same as me. I know you say you are happy to serve, but now you are encountering more, you are learning more. I don't see you as a servant, or as just a maid, but an equal woman who deserves more than what she has."

Harriet refused to let go, her grip tight as though she expected her master to flee from her.
"Master, is it not the natural way of things for a servant to be lesser to her master? If we are equal, then I am just as much the master as Master is the servant!
"I don't like this equality thing. It sounds like master doesn't want me."

She spoke with indignation, as though trying to treat her kindly was an odd sort of personal slight. Harriet's mind hadn't had to think so hard in her whole life more than she had to in the past couple of days.

Tera turned Harriet toward her, pulling her close and holding her. "Thats not true." She stated as she hugged Harriet. "I do want you, I also want so much more for you. I want you to be happy with more than just doing whatever is commanded of you." She gave a light sigh before saying, "If…if you want me to stop…I will."

Harriet thought for a moment before letting Tera go. She stood back and bowed deeply.
"If it pleases you, master, I will not argue. I... I do enjoy going to such wondrous places and I ... I do, um..." Harriet blushed a bit. It seemed she wasn't going to finish her sentence.

"My master, let us continue to enjoy the day without such concerns."

The day was spent pretty much simply walking along the beach, the pair had taken some shells that looked interesting, but pretty much all they did was walk along the sands. When they reached a point where they would forget where they parked they had turned around and started along the boardwalk.
Tera had to admit she enjoyed this day, it was fairly uneventful, but yet still felt fun. She had also begun thinking about the whole pool thing. Her mind wasn't just on the pool though, she wasn't entirely skilled at cooking, but she didn't burn things, so she was thinking about making Harriet something, or at least giving the girl a break from cooking.

As the sun started to drop toward the horizon Tera stopped and sat Harriet down onto a bench and started watching the sun. The colors it made in the sky was quite beautiful, but the fact the colors was also reflecting off the water simply made it that much more beautiful. "Before we go home do you want to get something to eat? We passed a few seafood restaurants."

I'll whisper in your ear,
You are mine, and you will never have to be alone.
And when I pull you near,
You'll know I love you like I never loved anyone.
So let me be the one to lift you up,
I'll carry you home.
'Cause now I'm here to keep you safe,
And to catch you when you fall.
