It was just another typical Friday night. The line to the club was already going around the corner of the street, the music booming loud enough that those outside could hear bits and pieces of whatever song was playing. The weather out was nice, cool enough to just be comfortable. Such as the way of the fall seasons here.

She could have been inside already, if she'd wanted, but the wait didn't seem to bother her tonight. There were a few occasions, such as tonight, that the wait with the humans was oddly pleasant. If nothing else, it gave her an idea of what it might be like once she got inside and the party really started. It be slow right at that moment, since just a few early people were actually inside. Not like that was a bad thing, usually she'd be one of the few that were there so son, but it just didn't fit her mood this night.

A surge of relief swept through the swarm of people in line, as the bouncers began letting them inside, and the line finally started to move. She simply smiled, enjoying the touch of emotions that had filtered through them to her. Humans were such interesting creatures, in their own way, and some of these were already managing to amuse her, just in their surge of relief and anticipation of what possibilities the night would bring. It wasn't a big surge of emotion, yet, but she knew it would get there.

As she got to the bouncers, the big man chuckled and shook his head. "Felt like waiting in line tonight, did you lass?" he asked, his amusement indicating he already knew the answer, so she gave no reply and simply smiled as he waved her in without asking for ID. A soft laugh escaped her at the resounding groans she heard come from behind her as she moved inside, they'd been carded.

Moving gracefully amongst the growing crowd of dancers, woman looked up towards the second floor, where the bar was at, and her violet eyes scanned over the crowd as she waved at the bartenders. Looking forward, she sent another wave in the direction of the DJ's, who waved back as they messed with their equipment. The music picked up moments later and she smiled, her magic tingled on the edges of her mind as her body started moving naturally with the beat of the song.

Let the fun begin.

The club quickly started to fill up with people. Some went straight for the bar, others bopped right onto the dance floor while some still preferred to gather around some of the tables, chairs and booths to mingle, chat and flirt. The dim, multicolored lights and the thrumming music set the atmosphere and the ever abundant alcohol further eased the club's occupants until the air was practically abuzz with their emotional release.

Still, feeding on those emotions wasn't what interested a silent observer on the second floor. He stood leaning against the railing overlooking the dance floor with a glass of wine in one hand and an unlit cigarette in the other. Twin trails of smoke snaked into the air from his nostrils as he let out a sigh. From there, he could identify quite a few Others, though he couldn't quite place the specifics on what all of them were since they were playing dress up as humans, but the Fey were easy enough to tell apart. Their glamour did little to hide their true forms from his molten amber-turned bright blue eyes.

Standing up straight, he took a sip from his glass and glanced off to the side at another person coming up the stairs. He saw the... unusual aura out of the corner of his eye. It was difficult to determine if he was human or not. The chestnut haired young man was taller than the red-head observing him and dressed in far more casual garb than the suit he was wearing. The two's eyes met for a brief moment and an exchange of recognition and acknowledgment led them to nod at each other before the younger man moved on towards the bar.

To be truthful, Vleric the red dragon, knew very little about him beyond that he was a servant of Oberon and helped bar the path into the mortal realm. The details weren't something that the relatively young dragon had ever heard, nor did he care to hear them. It had nothing to do with him and the Fey knew better than to provoke a neutral dragon.

Instead, he turned his attention back to the crowd below and noticed one particular Fey weaving and dancing amongst the people below. He quirked an eyebrow and focused on her. The tingle of magic passed over him and he smirked with a chuckle. Some kind of mind control or suggestion magic? Interesting. There weren't many Fey that were that ostentatious with their abilities in a place like this, surrounded by so many humans.

---

Meanwhile, the odd young man had reached the bar and was ordering himself a canter of hard liquor and downed half the glass. Tonight had been a major nuisance. Two portals had opened in one night, opened by some persistent fey hoping to get out into the mortal realm. At the very least, the barrier Oberon had put up between the two realities had made coming here exceedingly difficult as portals could not be opened without being detected before fully opening. It was always a one-way trip though, especially for the ones unfortunate enough to run into a Guardian like himself.

And the fey tonight were stubborn. He had to chase them around the city and corner them before killing them. He was grateful for Oberon's help in the past, but this really was a thankless job. Still, he did it. And the fey that wished to slip through to the mortal realm hated him all the more for it. Him and every other Guardian.

He glanced briefly over his shoulder to the red dragon he'd passed earlier. Vleric Smith, a regular to the different bars around the city, and apparently some bars in other cities surprisingly far away. Strength and power was unknown. Disposition towards guardians and fey in general: neutral and uninterested for the most part. Which was good for David "Drael" Smithermon. It made his job easier when there wasn't any outside interference.

Facing the bar again, he finished off his drink and ordered another. He tapped his foot to the beat of the music and pondered the idea of getting out onto the dance floor soon. It was crowded down there though, so he could wait a while. He wasn't interested in flirting with any of the women here. Human women were rarely worth his time and non-humans could be stubborn. Drael sighed and put his back to the bar, surveying the sea of faces all around.

A small group of people stumbled into the club. Literally. The only one who wasn't stumbling, looked quite resigned to being there. The tall redhead at the front of the group sporting a tiny hat that said 'Birthday Girl' on it spotted the dance floor and squealed happily. Turning around sharply, she elbowed the other people of the group away and reached towards the girl in the back.

"Lucy!! Lucy, Lucy! You /promised/ you would dance with me! C'mon!" Her voice was slightly slurred, but extremely energetic.

Lucy smiled slightly, though it wasn't all that heartfelt, "Ali, not now. I need a drink." 'Badly.' she added to herself, glancing at all the people who were already in the club. She was starting to get a headache from being around her drunk friends all night and now she was being subjected to loud, pounding music and more drunk people.

Ali gave a small pout at her, but quickly her friends were dragging her off into the sea of dancers. Lucy gave a soft smile as she watched her best friend start dancing, looking like she was actually having a good time. Of course, after how much bar hopping, Lucy would hope the redhead was having a good time.

Grinning, the woman turned and surveyed the area, trying to figure out where the bar was. She had promised Ali she would dance with her, after all, and there was /no/ way she was going out there without a decent amount of alcohol in her first. Making her way up the stairs, she made sure not to make eye contact with people. She had a goal, she did not need distractions.

Making it to the bar, she leaned forward, looked at their drink list, and ordered a shot. The bartender lifted his eyebrows slightly, but she gave him a bright grin and he shook his head and turned away. If he asked for her ID, she had it. After all, she wasn't the tallest person around...by far, and she had been carded at a few of the bars that they had just visited earlier.

She turned and watched a few people as they walked by, taking in their outfits and actions. Charming smiles, laughter, winks, and kissing was abound in this place. It was an institution built for coming together and playing around, after all. Honestly, she had never been to a club before...Ali had only started trying to drag her along to her crazy parties earlier this month.

When the small glass was set down in front of her, she picked it up and downed it. Looking to the bartender, she asked for one more, feeling the burn in her throat from the first one still. Ali would come looking soon and, in her state, she was very demanding.

As she downed the second one, all she was thinking was that there was no way she was going to be completely sober if she was expected to dance.

Sterling's day was a little boring on Friday. He had made a deal with a rival company the previous day, and he had cleared some time for himself. The problem was that he didn't have many friends. He sighed in that sudden realization. 'What am I to do on this day?' he asked himself. A park was nearby, and in a city like this it was the closest thing to his home. Another sigh escaped his lips as he trudged to the park. It wasn't that bad, but it wasn't great either. An unoccupied bench caught his eye and he sat.

He watched couples strolling casually by and even the odd unattended child. On some days, a ditsy girl sat next to him. He never replied to any of them. They all thought he was "hot" or had some other strange fixation with him, and he wanted nothing to do with the human females. Sterling was by no means a loner, but his idea of a mate wasn't some human that would most likely die before 100 years and would probably run in terror if she knew about the true faeries. But oh how he longed for a partner. Sterling heard snippets of conversations from couples, and he heard how they doted on one another and cared for each other. What would it be like to have that?

Well, it seemed as if birds were going to be his companions for the day. He couldn't speak with them, but he could make them go to him, and they typically didn't fly away when he held them. For some reason, petting their plumage erased all boredom and loneliness from Sterling. Until they had to leave, that is. He shrugged and decided to distract himself with one. With a twirl of his finger, a small whirlwind plucked a bird from a tree and brought it to Sterling. It struggled, at first, while in his hand, but after a few strokes it calmed down. He held the same bird until sunset. The bird finally decided it had to go and departed. Sighing one final time, he laid back his head, closed his eyes, and wished another Fae would come to his presence.
