The Elementals
There's a small village placed deep within the forest of Yaku Island, where the seven leading families base their whole lives around reincarnation. In every generation, the elements themselves are reborn in a seemingly never ending cycle. But each child is born lacking a single essential emotion. Which has made something that should have been seen as a blessing instead turn into a curse. The only way to stop this curse is for the missing Sun to be found and attend the yearly banquet that is held every generation.
But it's been such a long time since the Sun has joined them, and the date of the banquet is fast approaching. So these cursed individuals have resigned themselves to another unfulfilled lifetime, and there's no real hope for them on the horizon, that they can see.
Unbeknown to them, the daughter of a huge corporation is on her way to this small town, with a plan to buy up the land in order to place a manufacturing plant and develop the area for the companies needs; all in the hopes of gaining the approval of her standoffish father. But she finds more than she could handle when she's strangely drawn to the people of this small village.
And with the arrival of this stranger, the cursedblessed few of the village will start to feel a change in themselves. Emotions long since thought dead will very slowly start to thaw, allowing them glimpses into what they've yearned or dreaded over for centuries. Along with these re-awoken emotions comes memories that they never knew they carried within themselves.
So anyone interested? If you want to suggest changes go right ahead, and I'll consider them.
We have three characters left that are up for grabs. We need male characters please.
Characters Each character, other than the sun, will have been born into one of the seven leading families in the village. Their births correspond exactly to the moment their previous bodies would have died. They are born, perfectly aware of who they are, and with knowledge of all their passed lives. That is, everyone except the Sun, who is blessedcursed to be born with no knowledge of their past whatsoever. No one knows why this is so, and the reasons behind it has been suspiciously wiped from their minds. As such, the Sun is born like any other human being, never having to question who, or what they are, until now that is. Number of Characters: 8 at the least. Regular towns people are allowed after the elemental slots are taken. Status: Each element with a status of "Available" is up for grabs. SunStatus: TakenPower: Holds sway over Time, Air, and Fire. Which means he can potentially harness a bit of power from each of these elements, albeit in much smaller doses. The Sun Character Name: Trisha Phoenix Element: SunAge: 24Gender: FemalePersonality: Lacking the ability to be happy Trisha became a cold and consise person. She is very calculating and never makes rash decisions. She feels that happiness would only impede her work but secretly she wishes you could smile brightly on her birthday or have a good laugh with her friends.Power: Holds sway over time, air, and fire. The ability to control these is to a lesser extent then the perspective elements.Physical Description:Spoiler: click to toggle History: Trisha was born in Kyoto. Her father was a wealthy American businessman who owned multiple companies across Japan. When she was little her father tried everything to make her happy, but no matter what he did she would never laugh with joy or smile with pleasure. Not once in her life has she ever felt happiness. Throughout her life she has seen multiple therapists to no avail. With each new therapist her father seemed to grow further away from her. Wanting to grow close to him she took interest in one of his businesses. She was immediately promoted to land surveyor. The job was pretty easy and she did it very quickly. She soon made VP which seemed to bring her father closer to her but not quite close enough. One day she overheard a conversation about a stubborn group of people that would not sell their island. She immediately set off in hopes of convicing them to sell to win her father affection.Extra: Lacking happiness and all emotions assosiated with it such as joy and pleasure. MoonStatus: TakenPower: Holds sway over Space, Earth, and Water. Which allows them to potentially harness a bit of power from each of these elements, albeit in much smaller doses. The Moon Yamashita Mariko
Element: The Moon Age: Twenty-Four Gender: Female Power: Holds sway over Space, Earth, and Water. Which allows them to potentially harness a bit of power from each of these elements. Personality: Yamashita has the inability to feel calm at any moment in all of her lives since the Sun has disappeared. Her disability manifests itself by magnifying her negative emotions. She is swamped by fits of paranoia, and even violent anger, which can cause her to lash out with abusive behavior. It is because of this that she is kept in strict confinement within the main house, only being let out for ceremonies where her presence is required. Servants are always in attendance in case she becomes particularly violent. Afterward, she's plagued with guilt, and will genuinely work at being positive. But it's the little things that set her off, so these moments of positive feelings are short lived. When she has moments of clear thinking, she's very caring towards the other Elements, and is fiercely protective of them. Physical Description: Yamashita is small and petit, with very little curves and a body that is almost completely covered by a kimono at all times. Her long black hair is always straight and well combed out. But when she get's violent it falls and gives her a look that most would describe as wild. Her hands are small and delicate, her nails long and decorated. Her feet are small as well, and she delights in going barefoot whenever she can. The Moon History: Born into the Yamashita family, her birth was celebrated with a combination of dread and reverence. The Moon, has been known for centuries as being violent and irrational; But the family has always felt great pride in being able to boast having the Moon born to them. Her birth was silent; and the family watched as one body died and another was brought into the world. As an infant she was loud, and insatiable. She hardly slept, and the times she did, the house was put under a strict silence, where no one would talk, and noise was forbidden. As a young child she was deceptively silent, refusing to talk unless it was to give a command. But she had her moments of sweetness that the family, and servants took in stride. Unlike her siblings she was forced to reside apart from the main household, her room standing separate from the rest. This was partly out of reverence, and partly to shield the other members of the family from her streaks of violence. Privacy was never afforded to her, and her resentment only grew into her later adolescence. When she reached puberty, she learned to manipulate others with her charms, and it became widely known that she would only flirt with you when she was in a particularly violent mood. But this period also heralded increasing moments of peace for the family. Her manic moods seemed to happen rarely, and she was honestly joyous. She also bonded the most with the other Elements at this point. But as she grew into adulthood these times decreased increasingly. As an adult, paranoia reared it's head, and she increasingly would rant about how the other Elements where disloyal to her, plotting her demise. Although this was, mostly, all in her mind, it caused her to distance herself from the other houses. As the arrival of the Sun approaches this paranoia only increases, but her moments of clarity also increases which causes her nothing but confusion. Despite this, she is fiercely loyal of the other houses, and would kill anyone who dared to threaten them. Extra: Lacks the ability to feel calmness. TimeStatus: TakenPower: Manipulate the perception of time to fit their needs. They cannot stop it, as it's a never ending element, but they can change how someone perceives time to have passed. Time Ryo Watanabe Element: Time Age: 22 Gender: Female Power: Manipulation over the perception of time, submitting a person’s mind to perceive time as going slower or faster than it actually is. She can slow down an event or speed it up depending on her will, though usually she leaves it alone. Personality: Ryo is complacent and calm, never cracking a full smile or frown as she lacked the ability to feel true excitement or that “buzz” of adrenaline. She faces life with a mutual face. She is observant, always looking and taking in everything that others do. Some say she doesn’t even blink, as she is too busy consuming the information that should later be placed into history at the hands of Time. She is diligent and never breaks a promise. Respectable and reserved, she doesn’t say too much when it isn’t needed. Ryo is intelligent but distant, finding herself wrapped up in work rather than other human beings as to her, they move too fast and are too easily ruffled. Physical Description: Mirror, Mirror on the Wall History: Growing on the western tip of the island, Ryo cherished nature and the traditions of the island, keeping to her habitual work with clocks. Since the first birth of Time, life after life, Ryo found herself sketching out clocks, constructing and molding them from stone, copper, metal, and wood. It became known that Time was always going to end up doing pretty much the same thing: creating artistic and renowned clocks that lasted centuries if kept well. It was one thing that Time held pride in and the entire island knew when Time was in their presence when little drawings of dials popped up. Another way that many knew of Time’s rebirth, was the peculiar calm and patience of the western founding family’s child. Ryo grew up always very stable and never impatient or jumping around. She was the essence of calm. It was a trouble for the parents in every life Time went through but they knew there was nothing they could do except to motivate her to search for the Sun, as only that element would fix what was broken. Ryo wasn’t exactly jumping for joy at the idea of researching and finding where the Sun may be. She was mutual and resigned but did so for the other elements, as she was the most patient of them all. Ryo knew that out of all of the elements, she would be able to search and never get agitated by finding nothing, for she knew it would be quite a feat. Ryo never gave up, as she had all the time in the world. Rebirth after rebirth, Ryo stayed constant with her work, searching and building clocks, searching and building clocks, searching and building clocks… and wondering if it was truly wrong of her not to feel excitement. In a way, she found it liberating. Nothing could surprise her, nothing could really disappoint her, nothing felt unbearable as she just ticked away like a clock. If anything, she made others impatient. It was as if they saw the clock in her eyes, ticking away at their lives while she knew that no matter what, there was always another life. Was it really a curse or a blessing for her to lack that emotion? Extra: Ryo was born without the ability to feel excitement. SpaceStatus: AvailablePower: Manipulate gravity which allows them to hover, or make something else hover, they cannot fly as that would require some form of propulsion. EarthStatus: TakenPower: Manipulation of growth, which allows them to harness healing abilities, such as mending scratches or wounds. They cannot regrow limbs or digits. Earth Olive Niigata Element: Earth Age: Twenty-One Gender: Female Power: Manipulation of growth, which allows them to harness healing abilities, such as mending scratches or wounds. They cannot regrow limbs or digits. Personality: Olive is a careful, fragile human being. She keeps to herself most of the time, not quite able to interact with people in a normal way. She is unable to feel any sort of affection for anyone, which puts her in an odd position when trying to make friends. Olive knows that these people she interacts with are good to her and nice, yet she feels nothing for them, so she distances herself from everyone, hoping to make everyone's lives easier without her. When she actually lets people spend time with her they learn that she is a sweet caring person who loves to have fun and talk about anything and everything. But she is cautious, knowing that her happiness is limited because she is unable to make friends or find any kind of love of her own. Physical Description: All by myself... History: Olive's mother was not from the village, she was an American who had been travelling through Japan, stumbled upon the place and fell in love. Olive had heard the story many times before of the instant true love between her two parents and she was jealous that she would never have the same thing. The girl's mother died during childbirth, so she had only grown up with her father and his many stories of her mother. Her father struggles to have a connection with his loveless daughter. The man does not cope well with it since his wife is gone as well and has stopped trying after his daughter grew older and moved out of the house. Olive took on the role of village doctor once she was old enough to display her abilities. Not only does she have power over the element of Earth, but she was researched deeply into the field of medicine. If it weren't for her connection to the village, she would wish to someday go off to medical school. As for the sun, she is not sure if she wishes for them to come back or not. If they do come back, well then she will be able to feel the great emotion of love. Finally she would be able to make greater connections with people. But if she is to remain without that emotion she would avoid heartache and betrayal. She lives indifferent to the situation, unsure of what she wants. Extra: Olive was born without the ability to feel love or affection. AirStatus: AvailablePower: Manipulation of wind, which allows them to create gentle breezes or even torrential winds. WaterStatus: TakenPower: Manipulation of water, allowing them to conjure water from the atmosphere around them. Water Kotone Hoshiyuki Element: Water Age: 17 Gender: Female Power: Manipulation of water, allowing them to conjure water from the atmosphere around them. Personality: Kotone is happy and cheery. She is kind to all the villagers, and will lend a helping hand whenever someone needs it. No one has ever seen this girl sad before. However, she does have a fierce temper and will lash out at anyone who insults her. Sometimes, she is seen sitting quietly near a pond, manipulating the water and thinking quite deeply about her past lives and other things. Many people say that Kotone is unpredictable and a little eccentric. Physical Description: Spoiler: click to toggle History: Kotone lives with her father and older brother in a rather large house. Her mother died when she was only 7. Kotone never liked being trapped in the house, and would rather wander around the village, talking to other elementals, and hanging out alone near any bodies of water. Kotone had never been an unhappy child. She enjoyed smiling and laughing everyday. Sometimes, though, she would miss her mother, and would sit around thinking about her, but never looking sad. Kotone knew that she was missing an emotion, but she accepted the fact, and lived on her life with as much happiness as possible. The thought of the Sun returning never reached her mind. Extra: She doesn't have the emotion of sadness. FireStatus: AvailablePower: Manipulation of heat, which allows them to exude, or concentrate heat from their body.
Setting Location: Yaku Island, Southern Japan Year: 2011 Background: Semi-tropical to semi-alpine that changes according to altitude; It's more Alpine around the village. The village resides at an altitude of around 3,300 feet, and contains thick and prevalent forests that cover most of the island. Atmosphere: Those who reside in the Yaku Village live, as their ancestors have, working the land, and focusing more on family than outside conveniences. This does not mean that the village lacks conveniences, far from it. But technology is not the make all break all, of most of their lives. Configuration: Starting from the center of the town, there's a small central square, where places like the market, gas station, and other stores could be found. Surrounding that, are houses, and surrounding these houses are where the Elemental's family houses are located. The northern edge of the town is where the now empty, Sun would reside, the east Space, the south Moon, and the west Time. North east is where Water resides, south east, is where Earth resides. South West is where Air resides, North West is where fire resides.

Lol, I prefer actual ones myself to. But some anime pics are really nice.
Oh and as characters are accepted I'll put them up in the character section.

Olive Niigata
Element: Earth
Age: Twenty-One
Gender: Female
Power: Manipulation of growth, which allows them to harness healing abilities, such as mending scratches or wounds.

Idea? *ears perk up*
I think I'm going with a girl, sadly. I feel like a whimp never going with the male but I can never be true to the personality traits and aspects of a guy. I always end up making them too fitting into what a guy should be like and not "real". That or I make them girly. Ba~d.

Well I was gonna make the Moon a cross dresser, until I realized that the Moon was already a little too similar to Akito without that extra push lmao.
Oh you're not a wimp, I always have the same problem with portraying males. Oh and I love girly guys, haha.

@Rumpunch I know right? She's kind of loopy when she keeps saying,"I AM THE GOD. THEY ARE ALL BOUND TO ME!!!"

@Flying: I secretly kind of liked her, even if she freaked me out a whole lot lol.
Hmmm okay, when Paradox puts her character bio up, we'll just need the last three taken. Air, Fire, and Space I believe, and these are awesome ones! lol.
