The sun was high in the afternoon sky. Dre'sha, a half-elf Sorcerer made his way almost begrudgingly up along the way to the small town of Elbulder. [See B3 on the map along the underside of the Chondalwood] The small little town had once been a profitable logging town, however after some disputes over the logging, the prosperity has lessened. Dre'sha made his way towards the small little town, for that was where his information had lead him. He was out to find Orion, a Paladin that he had worked with from time to time in the past. All information points to him having been there clearing up some problems the citizens had been having with troublesome river dwellers. Ever the pious one He grumbled to himself about having to walk so far. Though that piety and conscientiousness that would make his job of recruiting him all the easier. As he walked he received a nip on the tip of his ear from Edward, his raven familiar who was unpleased with the level off attention he was being payed. "Not now Edward." He got a more painful nip this time. He shooed the bird off his shoulder. "Stop that!" He snapped. The Raven fluttered into the air and cawed at him. "Whimp!" It chided him. Dre'sha looked up at him and his lower eye twitched. "I never should have taught you to speak." He said and continued walking, making his way into the town. The afternoon sky clear mostly, though dark clouds in the distance seemed to be appearing. Hopefully things would clear up before they departed again. It was getting towards mid summer, and though the heat was quite irritating on long travels, it was even more irritating when he was soaking wet and the air becomes all humid. Even more so than it already was next to the river. Edited by Jester, December 18, 2010, 8:47 am.

Elbulder. Yet another destination on Kerith's never-ending journey across Faerun, though he has passed through this area before on several occasions and he wasn't going to be there long since he was simply passing through. Although at this point in time, he didn't much of a set purpose other than one of the Code of Life's core tenants: 'To truly learn more about yourself, you must know the world and what it holds. All of its glory and all of its horror. Never cease traveling for as long as you are able.' It had been some time since he left his home and his mentor behind and in that time, he has seen and witnessed a great deal. Yet with every day that passes, he still encounters more and unusual things that he's never seen before. So it was, that Kerith Zephtus the Cleric of Life, entered the small town and noticed a half-elf accompanied by a raven walking in at about the same time. His was an unfamiliar face and though it at times proved troublesome, the Code of Life encouraged its followers to meet and greet new people whenever possible. This one didn't seem to be hostile, so he smiled and waved to the half-elf as his mount came alongside him and said, "Greetings, fellow-traveler! How has the road been treating you?" Kerith had sometimes encountered those that had no interest in his attempts at any sort of smalltalk or greetings, so it would not be a major issue if he was ignored. Unfortunately, the Code of Life required that he at least learn a new person's name once he started trying. It proved a little frustrating sometimes, but otherwise not impossible. |

As Dre'sha made his way into the town he was approached by a mounted elf. It wasn't overly difficult to distinct an elf from a human. The mounted elf inquired as to his faring on the road. There was indeed a bit of an irritation to be had at this, after all he had been walking all day, and traveling for several days prior, but at the same time Dre'sha was naturally predisposed towards not being overly impersonal. So he just sighed and rubbed his face. "The has been treating me with ill favor in terms of it's length." He said. Oh had it ever. He was going to have a good talking with Orion about him going off to help people so far off from where he was needed. Not that it was truly anything he could effect, but Dre'sha was tired, and not overly pleased with the amount of traveling. He didn't care so much for traveling. |

Kerith nodded and glanced back out along the wide expanse of the golden plains and remarked, "Yes, I know the feeling. It's why I'm glad I have my horse now." Patting and rubbing his mount's neck, he smiled and added, "Lirithal here's been getting tired. He'll be glad to finally get some rest in the stables tonight." Sitting up straight again, he looked back down at the half-elf. "My name is Kerith Zephtus, by the way. What, mayhaps, is your name, Sir?" He was aware that his behavior was not what many considered... elf-like. But then again, his mentor wasn't exactly normal either and influenced how he turned out quite a lot. |

Dre'sha cocked an eyebrow at the man and considered him for a moment. A name was a powerful thing to give out if you knew what to do with it, but as it stood he wasn't one to be TOO concerned about it. so he shrugged to himself and spoke up. "Siannodel" he answered, giving his surname but not his first. "An' my mount has left me some few hours past now." he said. This to a owner of a horse might seem peculiar but to a arcane spell caster, it was just referencing a summon mount spell. As they entered the rustic dusty town Dre'sha started to make his way towards the most prominent structure in hopes of getting someone to let him know as to where he might find sought person. ((Sorry about earlier ^^; Anyways, on to business. Or whatever. Oh, and don't let his Mary-Sueish appearances scare you. Also, apologies for not giving you my location on the map. It refuses to load for me.) Orion wiped his brow. He would have left the mud there, but it was dripping into his silvery eyes. Another day, a little more progress made. Orion despised disputes in which words seemed cheap. It was always better to try and talk things out but as a final answer to Orion's efforts...well, it hadn't been for clumsiness he'd fallen into the river and even if it had just been that, his armor shouldn't have gotten filled with mud. Ugh. This shall take the better part of a day to clean, he thought with disdain, feeling mud slide out from under his breastplate along his leg. Each step he took left a muddy footprint. 'Tis bad enough that my armor needs polishing, but the mud 'tis ground into my clothes as well...it shall take forever to clean out! And my hair, too... That certainly was a fair complaint for Orion, considering how long his hair was. No. No matter. I mustn't complain. 'Tis a small price for the work I do here. What is this mud but a bit of a mar on my appearance? And what is appearance? 'Tis only of consequence for gaining enough respect to be listened to. It matters not otherwise. I shan't complain. Caught up in his own thoughts, Orion shut out the world around him but for looking for his inn to get cleaned up. His mother could have walked past and he wouldn't have noticed her. A small part of that could have been the mud that slid from his hairline into his eyes again. Trying to keep from getting irritated, he wiped it away once more, wondering if they river dwellers hadn't rubbed it into his hair as much as they had rubbed it into his clothes. As he walked towards what seemed to be a large town center building, Dre'sha didn't even notice the mud covered Orion walking towards the inn. He made his way up to the sturdy wooden building. All the buildings in the town were wooden, as one might expect of a logging town. He knocked on the door and opened it, stepping inside and looking about. He didn't want to seem rude to the elf who had been talking to him, but the sorcerer had matters of importance to attend to. He looked to the persons within and inquired as to if there was a paladin in town, and if such where he might find him. |

Kerith was relieved when the half-elf gave his name, though he suspected that it was a family name. Still, it was a name nonetheless. He nodded and said, "A pleasure to meet you, sir." He then faced forward as they went into town and he explained his mount's absence. Kerith thought for a brief moment that perhaps his horse had died until he remembered the magic spells that existed. After that, Kerrith watched the other man break away and moved towards one of the many wood-made structures around town, intent on his purpose for being here. He also noticed another man covered in mud from head to foot and smiled. Bringing himself to a stop near him, he said to the bedraggled man, "Having a rough day, Sir?" Sure, it was stating the obvious, but he wasn't one to avoid doing that regardless what others might think of him. |

Orion turned to see who was addressing him. Even though he really just wanted to go back to the inn and clean up, it seemed rude to Orion to dismiss the elf without even saying hello. "It could be worse," he said with a small shrug, "forging a working relationship from whence there is naught is never easy, but 'tis only a bit of mud, nothing worse." He paused, considering that he hadn't really seen a lot of elves in the village before, at least none dressed like this one, and maybe this was a newcomer. "The river-dwellers take none too fondly the loggers' efforts to use their home as means of transport for their livelihood," Orion explained, "I seek to bring out some sort of agreement between the two, but...the river-dwellers are somewhat...stubborn...and have, eh, interesting means of saying 'no'. "Now, thou art a visitor here? I do not believe I have seen thee around before." Edited by Rii Dono, January 8, 2011, 11:12 am.

Kerith was mildly surprised to hear the relatively optimistic response from the human male and it brought a smile to his face. "That is certainly true." He said with a nod and listened as the muddied man talked about his efforts and hummed thoughtfully. "I hope your efforts prove fruitful. I'm certain if you match their stubbornness with tenacity, they will begin to take you more seriously." The elf nodded and patted his steed's neck, "Aye sir, you would be correct. I'm passing through the area, following the edicts of the Code of Life. I don't stay in one area for long, unless someone needs my assistance." He paused and considered the mud-covered individual and asked, "Would you like some assistance with your task?" |

"Ah, I thank thee for thy vote of confidence. I pray thy theory rings true," Orion answered. He paused at the offer, taking a moment to wipe the mud and his hair out of his eyes once again. "I wonder if the River Dwellers wouldst not take an elf's word over a human's," he pondered to himself. In actual reply, said he, "I shouldst be glad of any assistance thou wouldst offer, though please grant me the time to make mineself presentable before we discuss it further. Shouldst thou wish, I am currently sojourning in that establishment," said Orion, pointing out the inn, "and thou might accompany me there, especially seeing as thou art a visitor, and if thou desires to remain here any length of time, 'twouldst be wise to obtain a room for thyself." The ground at his feet had begun to turn as dark as the mud from Orion dripped onto it, leaving footprints as he began to edge slightly away, towards the inn.

Kerith shrugged as the human male seemed to think out loud. "I'm afraid I wouldn't know. I've been through here before, but I don't think I've ever met the river-folk myself." He smiled and nodded, "Yes I understand. I'll be waiting downstairs once I get my mount settled in and my room key." He followed the mud-laden individual towards the inn and took his mount around to the stable to get him settled and got himself a room for the night before taking a seat at a table on the first floor and surveying the room to see what kind of people were there. This was a pretty small town though, so he didn't expect to see much. |

Orion himself certainly had more than enough on his hands in cleaning himself up. He regretted not asking the elf his name once he'd shed his sullied clothes and armor and was at last able to relax in a bath, but excused the folly in remembering that he was, after all, coated in mud with the purging of the filth foremost on his mind. He hadn't meant to speak with the elf at length, so it hadn't crossed his mind to ask a name. The thought that maybe a comrade of his might be looking for him, one whose name he DID know, did not even cross his mind. Not surprisingly, the only trouble Orion had in washing the mud off was in his hair, and primarily because he had so much of it. Once that task was finally completed, he set to the task of cleaning his clothes which was certainly an ugly task. Even after Orion had worked at it, there were still more than one mudstains. Grumbling that he'd either have to find someone who could wash or fix that or else buy new clothes, Orion finished up the job by cleaning out his armor, a much easier task if not less time consuming (though still time consuming) and departed to look for his newest acquaintance, scanning the first floor of the inn for him. |

(Just a little touch you guys, make sure that you remember to not pass over too much NPC interactions. i have complete NPC control and you lot might end up having to deal with some stuff you didn't see coming. So please keep that in mind when you're making post, cause I don't like having to pull back and make rewinds. Just remember, It's my job to plaint this world for you all, so don't make it harder on me by not letting me explain what you're around.) (for instance, Drake, your stabling cost you 4 silver, and your lodging cost you 2silver. I went ahead and deducted it from your character sheet for you.) The door of the inn was heavy and thick. It was a darkly tarred wood, the tar to help keep it more well sealed and protect it from the weather. The innitself could hardly be called that. it's was a tavern that had a few spare rooms that was rented out when someone needed them. The owner of the tavern was a late middle aged man whom seemed to be built as sturdy as the tavern itself, and his aged face seemed weary but not worn down. He had taken the room, it was odd to the man, a few people visiting. It's not like there's a lot to see in the little logging town. He cocked an eyebrow even more so when the door opened and another newcomer entered in. Dre'sha walked up in entered the tavern. It had about four or five tables, a few patrons sat in it, along with the newcomer that he had spoken to prior. There wasn't a tavern server active at the moment, and there seemed to be the smell of food cooking from the back. Dre'sha made his way along the slight creek of the floorboard and made his way towards the tavern owner. He had heard from the mayor that the paladin was staying in the tavern. The owner looked over to Dre'sha as he approached. The half'elf gave a nod. "g'day. I have a question for you. Have you got a paladin staying here? guy in metal armor, talks weird?" he asked. The guy nodded and pointed towards the hallway that lead to the back spare rooms that served as guest rooms. Dre'sha nodded and turned and started to head towards the hall but stopped as he spotted the human in question walking down the hall. "Ah, Orion, good to see you again. Tell me, have you by any chance paid for the evening?" he asked as he walked forward to clap the man on the shoulder. |

Orion's face lit up when he saw his old comrade approach. Though his hair was still wet from washing it and the stains were ever present on his clothes, he was otherwise presentable, though likely his pure joy in seeing an ally would have caused him to forget any mar on his appearance, even if it had been armor full of mud. He returned the gesture of clapping the half-elf on the shoulder, exclaiming, "Dre'sha, friend! It hath been how long since last we met? Hast thou come to help me in mine task of sorting an alliance 'twixt the loggers and the River Dwellers? Truly, thou art an exemplar friend!" He paused, realizing that Dre'sha had asked him a question. "I paid for mine room in full, in advance. Why?" Raising a brow, the human continued, "thou dost not believe that I shouldst, in any way, attempt to cheat the man a room?" |

((I am aware, I simply assumed the price for the room and stall was minor enough to warrant skimming over. No need to worry, I wouldn't do the same for anything beyond simple things like that.)) Kerith was about to signal to Orion when he noticed him enter the room, having spent much of his time observing some of the others such as the tavern owner, when the half-elf he met at the town's edge walked in. He paused and watched the two speak and felt his ears perk up. Ah, so they knew each other? He felt a small smile don his lips and stood up. It was always nice to meet a familiar face on the road, especially someone you had not seen in a long time. Or so the saying went. Kerith didn't know very many people outside of the man that raised him for much of his childhood and a few passing acquaintances in various cities and towns. He stepped a bit closer to the pair, although he chose to remain on the edge of attention, simply standing and observing for the moment. He didn't wish to interrupt them. |

"Still talking like a court orderly as ever I see." He said rolling his eyes as he shook his head. He listened for a moment and chuckled. "Not quite. Go fetch your gear, we have a long road ahead of us. I'll reimburse you for the room." He said. "I just got back from the mayor's house, we'll be leaving before the hour's out. We have a job that is a bit more pressing. There will be someone sent to help these people with their dilemma when we arrive at our destination." He said. "Unfortunately we have a more dire calling in Cormyr." He said slightly nodding to himself. He kept the conversation quiet, but not at a whisper. |

Orion scowled. "Thou knowest the origin of mine speech pattern, must thou mock it?" His scowl turned into only a deeper frown as the half-elf continued. "Dre'sha, I feel I am so close to reaching an agreement with the River Dwellers! I canst hardly afford to leave them now! T'would restart the entire process, dost thou know anyone more patient than I? I doubt that another sent to deal with the problem at hand wouldst take as kindly to the...retorts of the River Dwellers as have I!" Pausing, Orion considered that maybe, just maybe, his fellow might have a job that really WAS quite a bit more pressing. Spats between one organization and other happened all the time and while they were "pressing" for those who lived in either group...With a slight cough, and only now thinking to, perhaps, lower his voice, Orion asked, "'Tis the mission? 'Tis so important thou hast sought me out?"

Normally Dre'Sha was more understanding of Orion's banter, but he was quite weary from the road so his eyes narrowed and he spoke up. "You would do well Orion, to remember your humility. There are those whom could have finished this issue in the amount of time you have taken. Those whom actually speak Aquan or are more in tune with the river dwellers way of life." He imparted. Aquan was the language of water folk, and unless Orion had picked it up sense last they met, which Dre'sha doubted, he did not speak it, and therefor limited the ability for him to integrate. The half'elf sighed. "sorry. I said a bit much." He said and wiped his face. "I'll be sure that a suitable replacement is sent." He explained. "It's urgent enough to get me to travel here from Suzail." He said. Dre'Sha hated traveling, so to do that much of it it was indeed something of great importance. ((so that folks can understand the distance, Emburder is right along the Chondalwood on B3 and Suzail is right on the coast of the Dragonmere on A2.)) |

((Mmm...map's still not working for me.)) Shifting uncomfortably at the rebuke, Orion decided not to reply - his own pride that he was, of course, the best negotiator for any and all problems only had one self-defense when it was attacked and that was to ignore the attack. Besides that, Dre'sha was a friend, so whether the half-elf really meant what he said or not, Orion could assign it to an outburst that he didn't really mean. That was good enough for him. Perhaps I ought to consider learning Aquan...It may well prevent further incidents of mud baths, thought Orion. "If the urgency is such that thou wouldst travel thus far...then I suppose we must leave immediately. Grant me a moment to collect mine things and we will leave posthaste." Turning from Dre'sha, Orion caught sight of the elf he had spoken with before. As if forgetting he just agreed to leave right then with his half-elf, he paused and gave the traveler a broad smile. "Ah, I hath near forgotten! I apologize for mine absence, and I hope thou art of an understanding disposition - I must leave at once for Cormyr, as urgent business summons me. I wouldst have been delighted in thy aid, but the matter is now out of mine hands. Forgive me." With that, he dipped his head and headed back up the stairs to gather his things. It wouldn't take more than ten or fifteen minutes. |

So, the half-elf was here to get Orion's help on an important task? It seemed that Fate had led him to pass through this particular town for a reason. And the Code of Life called for its followers to answer such calls and opportunities when they presented themselves. Still, he waited as they talked more and raised his brow ever so slightly when Orion seemed to notice him again and apologized for the sudden changes. He shook his head and waved his hand dismissively, "No need to apologize. I understand that you have more urgent matters to attend to. I apologize, but I overheard your discussion." He put a hand over his chestplate and gave a brief bow. "If it would not be a bother, my offered assistance still stands. I've no set destination in mind, as I am simply a wanderer." |
