The Derp Queen
|
Her paws hit the floor at a rhythmic pace. She was only a foot or so behind the leader of the wolf pack, a spark in her eyes as she continued to run with her family, the wolves. Her fur, copper red in contrast to the other gray and black coats, was a mess of dirt and leaves from the adventure she'd had that day trying to catch a rabbit that had been in the depths of the Labyrinth. It was amazing how complex and dense the Labyrinth was, the spaces between the trees only wide enough for one wolf to run through at a time, making it impossible for her to run beside her ‘mother’. At least, she was the only mother she’d ever known. Skia was not like her mother, who was a natural born wolf. Skia was something far different, though what exactly she did not know. Her body was naturally bare and smooth like the water when the night was calm. Before, when she was younger, Skia didn’t have fur and she had different limbs than her wolf pack. It was all so odd. Nothing had seemed right until the day she was able to shift her form into that of a wolf, on all fours and with fur. She was a canine, eager and ready to move with the pack, living like the wolf when she was not. The dark forest, devoid of any light, moved past her steadily and thankfully without much problems. There were no dragons in sight that time around or any other ungodly creature that dwelled among them. Skia usually didn’t meet many dragons on her ventures in the woods. If anything, all she saw was a rabbit as she had today. She was proud of herself for actually catching it this time. The forest wasn’t built for small predators such as wolves, but more of an advantage for the larger ones as well as small prays such as rabbits. It made catching a meal quite difficult. It was mid-day and the pack was heading back to their home, a cave towards the west of the forest. It was there that she slept and played with the others. Today, however, Skia felt like going on a detour. She was eager to wander the woods for a while before settling down for the rest of the evening. With a slight nod towards her mother, Skia split from the group and ran with a free spirit through the only home she’d ever known, the wild. |

The King sat on his throne as the two double doors closed behind the members of the council. He extended his left to the right where a servant girl held a platter with a glass of wine and a bottle. He immediately reached for the bottle and began to drink from the bottle. How infuriating; the council wasn’t able to make up its mind. Apparently there was going to be an economic crisis on the land if something isn’t done post-haste. Some don’t believe there is even a crisis, some are suggesting cutting back on military power and re-invest the gold on more public service, others want the exact opposite, a bunch want to allow taxation of religious establishment, some want to eliminate border taxes to boost trade… It was nightmarish, the council was divided, but it was all up to the King in the end. Edward had made some laws that pretty much said the King had final say on everything the council decides and can overrule them he wished. Nobody dared to suggest they cease this ginger witch hunt that had been going on for over 17 years; it practically obliterated the population in certain counties. The new generation of people that had grown up since then would say good riddance; having grown up with so many anti-ginger propaganda. They cleansed the land they could shut down the establishments reserved for the cursed ones. The only ginger witch hunt that remained was the one that King had personally sent out, led by his own son. He was informed by the prophet on the Ginger’s whereabouts, on which forest to look for. The King had dispatched his son along with two young soldiers. Not just any soldiers mind you, but the first two soldiers to graduate from his orphan military school; where orphans were trained and taught the importance of being an obedient soldier; brainwashing was much more effective when done at a very young age. He finished the bottle’s content and sighed as he looked at the double door In front of him. If that blasted prophet had informed him several years earlier, then the King would’ve gone himself. He eased his mind as he waited for his Advisor to come back and be done with escorting the members of the councils out. |

King of Wackatopia: "I'll guarantee your safety, give you meaning, give you knowledge and something to believe in for the low cost of your personal freedom." Fang: "Look at you, you're gorgeous, you're beautiful, and when i look into your beautiful eyes all I see is this magnificent elegant creature, full of grace, full of strength. You're mesmerizing. You're intoxicating. I want you near me. I want to indulge you." Ryan: "If my survival means the death of innocents, then so be it" Kyliden: "This one is strong. He's brave and takes what he needs. He's a better werewolf then i could ever wish to be." Diego: "I can't control what i feel, querida mia. This spark will become a big lively fire. It will consume me, it will consume you and everyone around us, and once nothing is left, new life will spring eternal." Wade: "She made me love her before she sired me. She wanted a companion, a friend, a lover to indulge her throughout the centuries. Her demise filled me with emptiness; she was to give me a purpose and now I'm alone." | |

~Alexander~ Upon a stallion built for long distance runs, its color that of snow, The Prince Alexander rode through a heavy downpour. The narrow trail leading from the castle towards the forest known as the Labyrinth was already churned up from constant travel, and the mud it had been turned into made it much worse. Due to his refusal to put up the hood of his riding cloak, Alex's long black hair stuck to his head and neck in an uncomfortable manner. "Hoods," he would argue, "Decrease your range of vision and get you killed." He didn't have to look back at the two soldiers with whom he traveled to know they were most likely not pleased with the weather. There were still two more hours until sunset and the Prince was hard set on using them to travel, not hide from the bit of water that trickled from the sky. His two handed broad sword, a plain one that was standard issue for most military men, was slung across his back along with his longbow made of dark oak and the quiver of arrows that accompanied it. On his left hip was his short sword, one handed and also standard issue. All of the horses were laden with supplies for the trip, including non-perishable rations and blankets and spare clothing. They had tents as well. The prince did not enjoy wasting the life of a deer for one evenings meal, and thus had insisted they take a surplus of food. Another hour and a half of casual riding through the muck and rain, and the prince yelled for a halt. They veered off the path and found a suitable campground about 100 feet or so from the path. There was no stream or river, not were there any trees for cover. They were surrounded by open fields. The prince dismounted and looked at his traveling companions. "So men, what do you say we get these tents up and see if we can't get some sort of fire going inside them? I don't know about you, but I could sure use some drying off." He said with a grin. The water didn't bother him much as he looked at it as yet another special part of going on an adventure. He was going to find the prophetical redhead, and bring her back to the kingdom. His father would have her executed...If he knew she was there. Alexander would most certainly not hand an innocent woman in to be killed merely for being born. Besides that, the old man was no longer fit to rule the kingdom, and if the prophecy was true then his reign would end and the people would prosper under a more responsible leader. Alexander knew that leader wouldn't necessarily be himself. |

The counsil meeting had been a bit of an annoyance for Rok today. He'd noticed similar feelings in the king, and for once it seemed like they were both annoyed by the same thing. Indecision was something that Rok hated. It was an uncomfortable and frustrating feeling, and he disliked seeing others exhibiting it. Mostly because it affected his ability to plan ahead, which was something he was supposed to be able to do for the king. Or, in his specific case, against the king. Not that Edward knew that, of course. It was a well-kept secret on his part, hidden may layers deep below a show of loyalty and obedience. No, the king had no idea of his own advisor's intention to see him overthrown. As was his duty when such counsil meetings ended, he showed the nobles that made up the council out, making short pieces of conversation with them as they filed out. Wishing them well on their way home and the like. Pretending that he actually cared about them, when he'd have no qualms in throwing them out of the castle for good. He saw corruption written all over their faces. Selfish nobles. Even the ones who seemed to care about the people below them still had their gaping flaws that made them akin to villains in Rok's eyes. And the king was no exception. This entire red-head witch hunt illustrated the king's nature quite well. Genocide wasn't something that Rok would stand for. It was his desire to purge the world of evil. He understood very well that innocent people often needed to be used or killed in order to achieve that sort of goal, but he had the greater good set firmly in his mind. He wasn't seeking glory for himself, or even to prolong his own life. He was seeking peace for all of mankind. A world free of murder and hardship and pain. A world quite unlike this one, where innocent people could be ambushed on the streets and robbed of their lives. With a frown set on his face, he returned to the king's throne room to speak with him, as was expected of him. He'd managed to turn that frown into a false smile as he entered the room, looking over at the king with his normal eye, bright blue in color. Concealed behind a curtain of his ebony hair was his right eye. The red iris was glowing ever-so-slightly, the number 1 visible in its depths. "That was hardly a productive meeting," he remarked to the king as he approached him. "Once again, it seems like everything is left to our discretion, yes?" Of course the king had the final say in everything, but Rok was supposed to be his most useful tool in making such decisions. Nevermind the counsil and it's ideas and qualms. Even without the throne, Rok had one of the few real positions of power in the kingdom. But it wasn't enough for him to achieve his goals. Though a member of nobility and a great tool for the king, Rok could easily be dismissed of his duties should he take one step the king dislikes. His position was powerful, but hardly secure. There were plenty of older and arguably more experienced men who could take his place. Edited by That Butler, December 13, 2010, 10:31 pm.

“Oh, but it was productive Rok” The King said as he stood up to his throne. He had been seating all day, it was time he stretched his leg a bit with a quick patrol of his castle. He stepped down and walked toward Rok. “Walk with me, we have much to discuss” He said casually as he walked pass him and headed through the double doors into the hallway. He beautiful red velvet cap flowed behind him as he looked powerful in his very ornamental magic armour. Though it doesn’t have the ability to resist spells, it did grant an extra bit of protection. He couldn’t be more careful, especially in these troubling times. “The council is divided, Rok. They each have their own different viewpoint, but they’re old. They weren’t raised under my regime.” He confided in Rok as the young man had done nothing to sway his trust. The King enjoyed talking and thinking out loud, and Rok served his purpose well. He walked down the long beautiful hallway, with pictures of his family hanging on the wall, along with statues and the floor being covered by a red majestic carpet. “They did raise an important point. We’re heading for an economic crisis. Cutting military funding is out of the question. Still too many dangers loom over our land. Dragons, goblins and orcs hide in our forests and dangerous beasts torment our villages. I’d be a lousy King if I didn’t obey God’s will and protect my people. I’ll also avoid cutting our educational programs. Kids’ minds are so easily molded, but they must be done at a young age.” The King turned to face Rok. “What is your opinion on the matter?” The King valued Rok’s opinion. The advisors before him always tried to suck up to the King and it was more annoying than productive. Rok has not disappointed in exclaiming his own opinion toward the King. |

Rok obeyed the king without question, walking alongside the man as they left the throne room. He was careful to keep just a few inches back, though, lest the king think he was being disrespectful. Rok had his excusable moments of pride around the king, but he didn't dare do something questionable when it could be observed. That would be foolish on his part, and he didn't want to lose everything due to something so regrettably preventable. "I agree that funding should not be cut for education," he stated with a nod. "Education is a tool for bringing this country into a brighter future. The more educated the people are, the more they can do with their lives. So many more possibilities, instead of being strangled in poverty and driven to harm others to live on, themselves." His eyes narrowed slightly as he said this, but they returned to normal as he continued, "Though I also agree that the military should be funded adequately, certain branches can withstand a temporary cut. Internal forces need the money for keeping our lands safe, but our soldiers outside the country's boundaries do not need as much as they have. Times have been relatively peaceful out there as of late." He thought for a moment, then gave a small smile before saying, "You could always raise taxes on the nobles." That would bring in quite a bit of money, and the nobles had a large excess of wealth at present. It was their lands that were doing poorly, not them. |

Renélia let out a small sigh as she fished her way through the crowded marketplace. She was going to visit the King. The young prophetess was quite worried about the man. "I say a few truthful words and he goes paranoid. How troublesome." She muttered underneath her breath. A hood was covering her face so townspeople won't crowd around her and ask her questions. When she reached the castle, she was stopped by some knights that were guarding the entrance, but was let in when she showed them her face. Walking quietly and swiftly, she entered the hallway leading to the King's throne. However, she spotted the King and his advisor and bowed. She said,"Greetings, Your Majesty. How are you doing today? Have you found the...red-haired one?" Before he can answer, she continued,"I've had another vision. The one you are seeking for lives in the woods. She has been raised by a pack of animals. Perhaps she may be living in a cave?" |

Rok didn’t seem to grasp how big and important of a tool education was. The King’s goal was hardly a humanitarian one. While he wanted the best for his people, he wanted his people to recognize that he was the very best choice for them. For years, since he became King he’s added some changes to the school system, mainly adding one. The school would free the parents the encumbrance of raising their children, while motivating them have more without the risk of any of them starving. Families would have several children, some to send to work on the family farm, others to send to become soldiers and send some to school to become administrators within the kingdom. This was more of an attempt to fill the gaps left by the King’s witch hunt toward those that had the cursed hair. When he became King, the country and just finished a ruthless war against Ireland and conquered it. The process was initially meant to be limited to the irish, to take away their culture and replacing with the proper English way. British families were sent to Ireland in order to procreate, and were given land. In the hopes of diluting the ‘Ireland’ blood and turn it British. It worked, but why stop there? To meddle and mix everyone intellectually, to show the people that nothing truly matters except allegiance to the King and the British way of life. In the beginning, there was much revolt in Ireland, for them to regain their independence, but nowadays there were just another British nation that conformed to its very high standards. The King shook his head in disapproval. “The higher we tax the nobles, the more likely they are to take their resources out of the country and into the hands of our potential enemies and speaking of such. I’ve read the reports of our spies on the other Nations. Things are going badly for everyone in Europe. I cannot allow our defences to be lowered when the future is so uncertain. We’ll need to…” The king was interrupted mid-sentence by a young woman. He didn’t regognize her at first, until he noticed it was the prophet herself. His dark aura appeared and surrounded his body as she spoke. “Blast it!” He said angrily, his aura flaring madly at his words before dimming down. “The Prince and his party were sent to the collection of forests known as The Maze. If what you say is true, then my son will find surely find her, but this news… She lives with the beasts, you say? Raised by the beasts?! Curses; no doubt they’ll protect their little cursed cub. This worries me… My son has been trained by the very best. He’s physically able to handle such beasts, as are the two soldiers I’ve personally sent with him. They’ll no doubt be in trouble should these beasts attack together…” He turned away from the both of them as he growled lowly to himself. “Rok, send 5 men soldiers to the prince, with this new information. A feral red head living among the beasts. Should she truly be the one to end my kingdom… I can only imagine what devastating power she learned living under among the devil’s pawns. Once that is done, I’ll be waiting for you in the courtyard.” The King then turned his attention to the prophet. “You, please, walk with me.” He said as his aura diminished somewhat as he calmed down ever so slightly and walked down the hallway heading toward the courtyard. |
