Kotone's eyes widened at the new student that had arrived at Amberblood Academy. 'He resembles...a demon! What is he doing here? Could he be spying on us?' She thought. Kotone nudged Kaname gently and whispered,"Do you think...he could be a demon?" Kotone looked around the classroom and noticed that there were a mix of emotions on the students' faces. 'I have a feeling that he won't be very welcomed here...' She thought with a small frown.

MAL quietly entered the classroom of his first class here at Amberblood Academy. Everyones faces in there either turned hostile or scared. He walked up to the teacher of the combat class and addressed him. Greetings my name is Misiro Ashton Lakiel but you may address me as MAL. I am new to this school but I am not new to the ways of demon hunting. The teacher had a bewildered look on his face, but before he could speak his mind a kid in the class threw a roting apple at him. In one seemless motion MAL drew his bow and notched an arrow and released hitting the apple dead center. The arrow carried the apple with it and it stuck the chair in between the students legs. I believe you dropped that. He then turned his attention back to the teacher. So I assume you will be teaching these weaklings how to fight today? There was a hint of disgust in his voice as he looked toward the teacher. Now if I may I will go take a seat. Walking over to the window he pulled it up and sat on the sill. From there he carfully eyed each student. These kids wouldn't last a day on the streets he thought to himself.

Kotone was surprised. 'He's hunting his own kind...?' She thought. Kotone cleared her throat nervously when she saw the new student take the seat in front of hers. She had always enjoyed sitting near the window...now she isn't so sure. However, Kotone didn't like being rude, so she smiled at the new student and said,"Hi. My name's Kotone Saki. Nice to meet you."

The nudge from Kotone made me look up from my book and tilt my head as I was about to ask what she was talking about. But it was quite clear when what looked like a half demon entered the classroom as the rumored transfer student. The students faces were scared, appaled, disgusted, but mine was blank as usual. I eyed him over, lowered my eyes, and went back to my book. He was too boring.

" Yah I guess he looks like a demon. " I announced quietly to her but than turning and showing a light smile. " But don't worry, your one of the best fighters in this class, Im sure you can protect yourself. And if you can't, I'm always your best friend you know. " I continued my book on 'The Ways of a Human Mind ' when the ruckus of an apple and a whiff of air made me look up once again.

I sighed and just shook my head. What a scene Mal had created. I really had nothing against him, but if he disturbed the peace, that was the only thing that kept me irritated. I looked up to him, his bold and full of himself attitude, and my face darkened. I had just met him, and I already knew I didn't like him. He looked to everyone of us as if we were trash, and even called us weaklings. I wasn't even close, I was a better fighter than the entire class save my best friend, but my pain tolerance was even better than hers. I stood up, book in hand and looked to the teacher.

" Im sorry senpai, but I believe rule #314 states that: ' Ones who disrespect the teacher and/or students must be punished, if making a huge scene or fuss over something trivial. ' And I believe he I mean Mal has broken this rule, for he should be happy that the entire class didn't decide to kill him, since it is after all, a school who hates demons. And calling us weaklings, he's just immature, the fact he doesn't even know our strength is futile. I could spit in his face for all I care. " I announced, everyone shocked and the teacher half smiling in approval and half growing in disappointment.

The teacher rumbled through her rule book and put on her reading glasses, before finding the rule and nodding, returning the book. " That was a little rude Kaname-san, but just for now since you are one of my brightest students I will let you off this time. You may fight him during training session if you like, since you were going to train others with Kotone-san anyway. " I nodded and pulled my empty eyes to Mal. That asshole. Ruining my life just by walking in.

I sat back down and looked to Kotone, sighing and whispering," Sorry, but that guy pisses me off. " And than not even bothering to start reading my book now. He was long range? That would be entertaining.

Kotone whispered back with a small smile,"It's okay. Just be sure to beat the crap out of him during training session." A grin appeared on the girl's face. "If you need help, I'll be there." Kotone added as she clutched the katana that was leaning against her chair.

I turned to Kotone, the irritation dissolving and sadly smiled. She used my words against me, and she always knew how to get me out of my worst of moods. However, she never looked like she noticed. I chuckled a bit, seeing as she clutched her kantana and knowing she was serious. Friendship. i still did not quite get the word. But I was glad she was mine...all mine.

" That would be entertaining. We should teach him a lesson about how it is here. Please Kotone, it's a fight between men as we used to call it, and it would make him think i was gay to do so. Trust me, I don't need any help to beat the 'crap' out of this boastful guy. "

I sadly smiled to her again, before I slowly started reading the book again, not really into it anymore. Why was I reading this book? There wasn't anything interesting left for me to read...an I had already finished my homework just from homeroom this morning.... I turned to Kotone. Did she like I was quiet? Did I actually ever think about talking to her once..? I thought about it, than slightly frowned. No, never.

" Kotone.... Do I talk to little for you? " My eyes slightly saddened as I turned to her, seeking answers.

Kotone was surprised by Kaname's sudden question. She noticed the sadness in his eyes, which made her feel a little unhappy too. She replied,"I admit...you are a little more quiet than most people, but that won't stop me from loving you...as a friend." She felt her cheeks turn a little warm. It was the first time she had said that she loved Kaname...and she just wasn't used to it.

Her surprise and unhapinsss affected me like it always did, and I shook my head as if to stop her but she answered anyway. Her mouth opened and the sentence that came out of her mouth, the first part starting to make me tone out. But I was glad I didn't fully because she actually said ' I love you ' {as a friend,I could see her cheeks pinken. The situation was sticky. The atmosphere was awkward.

" Uh.... Yah me too. " I replied slowly, carefully, and quietly. The first time ever I wasn't sure of my words.

Kotone looked away from him. She still is shocked that those words came out of her mouth. "Eh...anyways..." Kotone couldn't think of anything to say. Her mind was blank and her throat was tight. What was her true feeling for Kaname? Just friends...or more?

My face was non-chalant as always, but inside my feeling were fighting each other in an internal battle. My fists clenched and I looked down, my hair covering my eyes. I stood up, fan girls whispering in a ripple around me. I grunted, and the teacher looked up at me. "What is it Kaname? Why disrupt the class? "

Her impatience was quite clear to me, but I didn't seem to care. I looked to Kotome, but she couldn't see the guilt and hurt in my face for my eyes were still covered. I didn't want to tell her that the thing I didn't want to ever tell her. The girl that saved me, from my own life. I looked over to the stupid demon that irritated me as hell before answering my teacher.

" I'm sorry Senpai, but.... I can't stay here right now. " I grabbed my back and rushed out of the room, my weapon holding on my hand, as I walked away in guilt and unhappiness.

I'm sorry Kotone...

Kotone looked up and saw Kaname leave the classroom. "Kaname-kun..." She muttered, hoping he can hear her. It was too late. He was already out of the classroom. Kotone stood up, grabbed her katana, and ran out the classroom, without making eye contact with any of the students or the teacher. She caught up with him in no time and grabbed his arm. Kotone asked him, with pleading eyes,"What's wrong? Why...?" For some unknown reason, she began to cry. Kotone hadn't cried in a long time...so why now?

I ran, blindly through the halls of school, not caring of the stares. The whispers, the gossip. It was, inevitably, like all schools in a sense. The gossip, the fangirls, the popularity food chain. I ran slower than, tired and un-feeling, not wanting to go on. I rested next to a window and looked out, the sky dark gray, nothing really going on.

Her hand, grasping me as my eyes widened in internal fear. There was Kotone. Her breath ragged from running, her eyes pleading in a guilt only I could feel. Her mouth moved, the way it always did forming words that struck me like knives. 'Why?' She asks? Tears rolled on her cheeks, the ones that are usually filled with a warm heat that made my days seem slightly brighter. My face darkened and I crouched down, for she was smaller than me, in a cute kind of way. I put my finger to her eye and wiped away the tear tenderly.

" Yo look stupid and helpless when you cry. " I whispered coldly, but only she knew it was my way of showing affection. I kissed on top of her head, before turning away from her, leaving her in the hallway full of teachers and students wide-eyed. I walked into the shadows of my own mind, my claw retracting, the dragon almost breathing it's own fire.

' Why huh?

"Kaname." A voice that sends shivers down your spine made me turn slowly. Power emated from his body, and I already knew it was hopeless to try to get away safely, or even fight. I stayed there ready for a fight, but listening to what he had to say. I couldn't trust a demon, especially of he knew my name. It means he has interest in me, has been observing.

He cackled, making me wince. "Your better than I thought. I will be say on you than. " He suddenly blurred and before my eyes could focus his hand was on my throat. " If you dont ---- I will kill Kotome..."

A tear of my own,.......falls down to the ground with a splash.

Kotone, wiping the remaining tears from her eyes, ran after Kaname. She was persistant...she wouldn't let him go. When she finally found him, she grabbed his arm again and asked,"Where are you going...so suddenly?" A small pout appeared on her face. Then she noticed the tear on the floor and asked in a trembling voice,"Why...are you crying?" Kotone hated to see Kaname cry.
