Link to OOC IC: Kassia groaned and rolled over, hiding under her pillow and blankets. Someone was knocking on her bedroom door. Why couldn't they let me sleep? she thought, throwing back the blankets and tossing the pillow at the door. “Go away!” she yelled. She had been out late hunting again so she was tired. She needed her sleep, and someone had to go and disturb it. “We’re late for class, Kassia.” Oh, crap, she thought. That’s Lucius. Sighing, she slipped out of the bed and over to the door, still dressing in the cloths she had been wearing the night before. “What?” she asked and opened the door. A boy not much older than her, with inky black hair and light brown eyes, stood in the doorway. “We’re late for class,” he said, frowning at her. “Did you got out hunting again last night?” “No.” Her swift denial didn’t fool him, but he said nothing as he stepped back and let her leave the room. After a moment of staring at each other, Kassia snorted and headed off down hall, leaving Lucius to catch up. After a few minutes, Kassia gave up on being quiet and turned to Lucius. "So, why are you waking me up? It's not like I ever intend to go to class every day, you know." Lucius sighed, but didn't answer straight away. Kassia could only imagine what he was thinking, and she tried to avoid that. Lucius's past was one of sorrow... But it was best not to be talked about in a hall so she wouldn't ask. There could be prying ears around. "It's Declan," he finally said and Kassia stopped dead. Declan, of course. The ancient vampire in a sixteen-year-old's body was....annoying, to say the least. He was always watching Kassia as if she were dangerous. More dangerous than the vampire. Then again, she was a dhampir and often suffered from blood lust. But that was beside the point. Finally, Kassia forced herself to take another step. "What does he want?" She tried to sound confident, but she didn't think Lucius believed it. "What do you think?" Lucius told her. He looked angry. "He wants to know if we're killing his vampires." He paused, then spat it out. "The newly turned ones." Kassia sighed. "Then the Headmaster should be telling him not to attack our friends," she snapped. Lucius just stared at her as she turned on her heel and set off at a run for Combat class. |

A drip of rain enters a puddle as it makes a splash and spreads higher up the ground. Mini raindrops fall everywhere, pelting me with their diamond shape and watery body. Everyone was inside, of course, for no one is stupid enough to sit in rain. The first morning sun rays drifted over the horizon, lighting up the raindrops creating minature rainbows in each one. I sighed and stood up, not affected by the rain but, people will start talking about a person standing in the rain with a tee on and no umbrella. I kicked the puddle and ripples spread throughout leaving a mark that I was there. ' Every life is like a drop in a bucket. But every drop makes ripples. Walking away from the intersection, one of the busiest places in town, I searched for shelter half heartedly. I didn't really need it I could sleep on the concrete if I felt like it. But I really didn't look like a hobo, and since I looked around 20 people would think I needed to be in college. Why would I want to be adopted by humans? Much less get loved by them. Is that even possible? I sighed and continued walking, my majestic purple eyes searching for some kind of exit from the pouring rain. When my feet met a gate to a large building, my instincts made me stop. This was the famous Academy that killed vampires. I looked up in the window, and was surprised to see a girl and boy walk down the hallway, seemingly in a very tense conversation before the girl broke away and entered another window, probably a classroom amd started doing her thing. I pretended to shiver, it was now a slight habit for it confuses people that I don't and looked at the girl for a while. My purple eyes seemed to Peirce through the girl, as I almost... Nah I need not deal with other peoples affairs. She's safe, than that's good. Nothing more to do. I ran my fingers through my drench hair and yawned. What to do what to do? The Academy seemed like good shelter but.... Would they let me in just for that? Or would I have to join? I wouldn't risk it. My eyes looking at the girl one more time, I walked away and disappeared into the shadows, my footsteps fading away. 'Drop' [/i] |

Lusciously blue eyes flickered from face to face, never pausing, never ceasing, until they at last settled for a general forwards view. To tell the truth, this place still made Tamila uneasy, despite her time here. Vampires made her furious, of course, but she still hated the competitive atmosphere of violence. Everything - in her humble opinion - would be so much better if she ran it. Weaving between harassed teachers trying to get used to the new term's timetable, and equally frustrated students tagging along behind them, the elf knew exactly where she was headed. It was a general elfy thing, so she told the rest of the world. Reading her timetable just before the end of her lessons was how it was actually done. This organised outlook upon life led to the elf being perfectly punctual to her combat lesson, in which she was the least content, but she seemed pretty able to defend herself with a long wooden stick, so she wasn't a complete failure in her own eyes. Stepping through smartly into their classroom, she sighed ever so slightly. Why did she have to go through this humiliation every day? Granted, she was an extremely advanced magic user for her age and predicted ability for that age, but her physical prowess was exceedingly embarassing. Pretty much all of the others in her class excelled in the combat section, whereas she was only mediocre. The worst part was being unable to use magic to defend herself, as she normally would. Settling her bags down quietly in the corner, she tugged at the hem of her pretty dress and flicked her eyes up to the others. They were all preparing; should she put some trousers on? Hah, no. If her skirt came up, she was losing control of the air element. Hey, nobody said she wasn't allowed to use it to keep her modesty. Plus it wasn't as if she left the ground often, anyway. |

He had been sitting on the floor near the corner, hugging his knees, for some time. He didn't hate sleep, he actually slept relatively well the night before. The mornings, though, were brutal. The slightest stir of those around his room would wake him up instantly. He was always on high alert, somehow, even while he slept. This morning, he had been woken up at 8:54 am by some people milling about outside the building or on the other side of his door. He had groaned and decided it was best to get up. At 9:30, he headed the room where they held combat training. He sat in the shadow of the corner ever since. Now it seemed people were milling in for training. People was a loose term. He knew most of those walking in were not completely human. He was one of the few who actually was. The others were all halfas or a whole of something else that used to be mythical to him. August had nothing against them. They weren't the ones who brought him here and they certainly weren't the ones who killed his family. He was still hunting for them, whoever they may be. He fought off a sigh and just put his head against the wall. Through half open eyes, Augustine stared at those entering. He had a small bag with a book and notebook in it by his feet. They were there if he wanted the company. They weren't the kind of company he wanted at the moment. He wanted his headphones. He forgot them in his room. When he got there and realized that, he almost put his fist into the wall. It was a stupid mistake. Now all he had to listen to were those idling about or walking in. Finally, he dipped his head low between his knees, hoping to drown out some of their voices. He had to get his breathing back to normal before training was to begin. |

I stopped, the rain still pelting my back as I started to see the sun come up. It was early morning, and I still had no shelter. I wasn't that far from the Academy... I looked over to the looming building, and sighed. It was no use. It would be easy to defeat them anyway. I wouldn't have to kill them..just freeze them all. I didn't even smile at this, or smirk , for it wasn't a very enticing idea, but if I was forced to join, I would forcefully kill them. Walking up to the gate again, i put my warm hands on it, the damp gate starting to become colder and colder as ice crystals started to form. Than all of the sudden, it covered the whole gate in a flash, and I kicked it, making it crash open for it had become weaker from the ice. I nodded, and walked up the path to the huge doors, putting my hand on top of it. I knew those people must of heard me, so I must at least be a bit polite. I stood up straight, and knocked on the door, announcing clearly," Do you mind if you give me some shelter from the rain?" |

Kassia tried to focus on Combat, but her mind kept going back to the night before. When she had been hunting Adrian but though it was another vampire. She shuddered, and the memory took over. She had been following him since he left the club, but now it was well after midnight. She should probably be going back to the Academy, but it didn't matter. Here was a vampire that she could destroy. The vampire glanced her way and she ducked behind a rubbish bin, out of sight. What was he doing in an alley? There was nothing here. Kassia knew he could sense her, but it was if her would act on it or not that really mattered. She almost felt relieved when nothing happened, and stepped out from behind the bin and crept towards the vampire. Glass crunch under her feet and the vampire span towards her, growling. Faster then she could react, he had her pinned to the wall and the dagger out of her hand and on the ground. His hand closed around her throat, holding her in place. And then she recognized him--Adrian. "Kassia," he breathed, smirking. Then he proceeded to pat her down, checking for weapons. He found none, other than the dagger. "I thought we left you to ferment with the whiskey..." His voice was dark, sinful. "But here you are..." Adrian stepped back, hands slipping away slowly. The air chilled her skin, her arms breaking out in goosebumps. The vampire was clearly trying to control his blood-lust. "What are you doing out here?" he asked and then his gaze fell on the knife. "Silver," he said and in a movement too quick for her to follow, picked it up and tucked it into his belt. "Hunting your cousins for sport, are we?" He shook his head, and then, in a blur of movement, he had the dagger in one hand and her wrist in the other. Slowly, he drew the blade across her wrist, barely breaking the skin. Kassia's breathing was harsh now as she watched him bring her bleeding wrist to his mouth. And then he had left her go. Fear kept her still. "So tell me," he said, smiling at her. "Who are you hunting?" Kassia blinked and looked around. Combat was only half over and Kassia was already bored. She often skipped out on class, so that's what she did. She headed for the door, frowning at the Elf then at the boy who was in the corner before passing through the door and out into the hall. Soon enough, she was at the main doors. And someone was knocking on them. Kassia slowly opened the door and peered out at the boy with silver-tipped ebony hair and purple eyes. She couldn't help it, she stared. "Do you mind if you give me some shelter from the rain?" "Um, sure?" she hedged, stepping back from the door. "Come on in." |

Instead of answering, I just nodded and stepped in, the temperature differing greatly from outside to inside. Outside it had probably been around 25 • ish and inside it seemed about 70. It definitely was a more comfortable temperature, but I was on my guard for this was the main house of vampire killers. Not the best place to be. I looked down on the vampire lady, who had let me in, and stared right back at her when she stared at me. Yes, everything about me screamed different. And when I stared at someone, thety always look away. She did. But a for good reason. My eyes were a mixture of teal and magenta. The purple was very abnormal, but a beautiful color and i was often stared at for not just my eyes, but my hair as well. Also, it was easier to read a persons mind that way. The memory that had soaked her mind, just a few mere seconds ago was shared into my mind, and I stood in somewhat horror and anger to vampires. I hated violence, I wasn't the one to fight unless forced to. I would never pick one, and that was a fact. Sighing, I suddenly felt extremely tired. I dripped all over the floor, my hair drenched and my body and clothes as well, and I told myself a mental sorry about making the place wet. I shook my head, the water coming out of my hair somewhat, my chain 'collar' and it's diamond shaped sapphire and my cross/ feather earring shook with it, making a clinking sound every shake. I yawned, and my cautiousness started to melt away as I knew I was anout to faint. My body had gotten too hot. Not cold, hot. Whenever I was in cold weather, my body would heat up naturally, and it usually wouldn't affect me but it had been extremely cold today, and the rain only made it worse. I had overheated. I grasped my arms and closed my eyes. I felt like I was burning. " I -........ " No words would form from my lips. I trembled a little bit before I made a thump on the floor, and fainted. ' Im falling... I reached up, but I could not grasp what was above me. Everything I knew seemed to fade away, but it was ok. I didn't want to remember them, not one. |

Kassia stared at the boy as he fainted, started. What...was going on here? She sighed and turned to look back down the hall. Damnit, why did this have to happen now? She closed the main door and turned to run back down the hall to find Lance. At first, Lance didn't believe her, but then he came to see what Kassia was on about, giving the barely-there cut on Kassia's wrist a glance. Kassia ignored him, and lead Lance back to the main entrance. Lance frowned when he saw the boy. "What happened?" "I let him in." Kassia bit her lip, frowning. "And then he just fainted." Lance sighed. "I'll deal with this," he said and turned a stern gaze on Kassia. "You had better get to class." Kassia sighed, again, and pulled open the main doors, ignoring Lance as he crouched down next to the boy. She was thinking about where to go. "I said class, Kassia." She glared at him. "And I'm not going. I was bored in class." She looked out the door. "New York is more interesting." Lance sighed as she stepped out and closed the door behind her. Once outside, Kassia scanned the area and then took off at a run, heading towards the water. As she ran, the memories of being locked into a small, dark cabinet all those years ago came rushing back. |

Dammit. I had fainted in this stupid building.... Ugh. Someone else is... Here. I can't... Damn... ' There were no mornings, no nights. I would sit at my favorite spot, always watching, the world below. They looked all busy with their short and happy lives. Getting born, learning how to live, falling in love, having children, basking in the last few years of life, dying. I wanted that life. Children playing, chasing together with smiles on their faces, only one thought went through my head. I want that life. Not this. I looked behind me, people shying away from my gaze, or meeting it with an angry glance. Everyone hated me. No one wanted me. I was a 'disgrace'. I don't know why. I had done everything I could for my parents, was almost killed by them, and I cried abd buried them. Was I supposed to die? Was protecting myself a bad thing? I inched my legs closer to my chest and grasped them with my arms, putting my head in the little nook betwee them and my body. My hair hanged inside the nook, a small teardrop falling and staining the ground beneath me. I didnt know anything anymore. I wanted to love. I wanted a friend. I wanted to have children and be happy. I wanted to die in my lovers arms, and listen to their comforting words as I fade away. I wanted a life. I wanted... To be human. But , that just made me feel selfish. To want so many things, was selfish. I couldn't do it. Maybe, I shouldve just died. No one would or will care anyway. Tears fell in more abundance down to the floor. ' I diserve to die.' I opened my eyes slowly, wondering where I was. Right, the Academy place. I felt cooler, but wasn't quite sure where I was. I twitched, and sat up with a deadly head ache. I clenched my teeth, and put my hand to my head takins deep breaths. I had fainted here. Now what? |

Her fine-boned face a mask of detached curiosity, as she often posed it, Tamila was settled down beside a large arched window; shutters would be drawn over it later, in order to preserve the old glass, though she was content to enjoy the light in the moments before their class was complete. Settled upon the floor, her legs pushed out in front of her and knees bent, in the morning light the elf was almost pure white. It gleamed off her skin, dancing off strange angles on her cheekbones and shoulders, and tangled in her hazy misted hair, illuminating it further. The marking upon her cheekbone - the one thing she disliked about her pretty face - was barely visible. Beside the quietly musing spell-caster sat the staff she often used. It was nothing special, just sturdy steel reinforced with a few wards to keep it in one piece with the constant hitting it received, but she preferred it to the wooden ones. Despite her race, she disliked nature (apart from the magical elements it offered her to control) and the sensation of life beneath her fingertips in something which by all means should be dead both disturbed and disgusted her. The good thing was that, from where she sat, not many would notice her pale blue eyes questing for information. She was curious, what else could she say? The self-proclaimed ice-queen would never bend to others, and neither would she stoop so low as to make friends of inferiors. They were all undoubtedly inferior to her - though she had a hard time of convincing herself of the fact in some peoples' cases. The morale boost at the end was nice, though, even if it was only temporary. Summoning up a spark of light upon an extended fingertip, she emanated the air of indifference well, despite her constantly prying eyes, and when the teacher finally made it to class, she extinguished the light and stood up with the same apathy upon her face. The staff, picked up by a quick tug of air beneath it and not a little effort on her behalf to heave it up, was gripped in her right hand, and she trod over to the centre of the room, where their instructor was already describing the lesson's tasks. |

Augustine heard the movements of people entering and leaving the room. He saw one girl leave at one point. He didn't even react to it. Some were sitting nearby, waiting for class to begin. He wanted it to start so he could leave already. Maybe he could catch up on some sleep before possibly going out for the night. That would make him feel better. The teacher entered eventually and August dragged himself up with the help of the wall. He dropped the strap of his bag on top of the bag itself. He didn't need anything in there for now. Slowly, he put a hand to his forehead as he walked. He fought the large sigh that was welling up in his throat. The teachers dull voice was droning on. He didn't care about the lesson, he just wanted to fight something. August stopped short all of a sudden. He couldn't see and he bumped into something. His multicolored eyes were searching the crowd back and forth. Something didn't feel right. As soon as it had risen, the feeling faded. He was able to see clearly again. He hadn't even realized he had put a hand on the back of the girl he had bumped into. Actually, she was an elf, one of the few people he recognized at this school. She was powerful in magics and that was why he knew her. Slowly he removed his hand and shook it out like it had been burned. Augustine looked at her, "Sorry," he mumbled before looking away. |

Some time later, Kassia returned to the Academy. It was quiet in the halls as she wandered towards the stairs that lead up to the second floor. And her room. She was thinking again, which never did her any good. "Why would Declan think we're killing his vampires?" she muttered, frowning. She shook her head and looked up. "It doesn't make sense..." And then she noticed something out of the corner of her eye. The door to her left was slightly open. Curious, Kassia crept towards it. Someone was moving around inside. Kassia hesitated, tilting her head to one side. What were they doing? Had someone snuck into the Academy to steal things? Only a fool would do that. The Academy had a reputation, and no one would be stupid enough to sneak in and try anything. "I thought people knew better," she whispered and crept closer, pushing open the door. She jumped back, startled. The boy with the silver tipped hair and purple eyes was there. She stared at him. So he was awake. Now what should she do? Wait. More importantly, where the hell was Lance? |

Tamila had been listening half-heartedly to the jabber which was the teacher's way of communicating. She found it difficult enough to muster up the enthusiasm she probably needed for combat even without his instructions; when she tried to listen, she didn't understand what he actually wanted them to do, while the rest of the class went about executing it perfectly. Distracted from this by somebody bumping into her, she frowned and twitched her head to the side. Something brushing her back made her shudder; she had jumped as if she'd been electrocuted, her eyes narrowing into mean little slits as she glanced to see the perpetrator. His strangely coloured eyes made her eyes open just a tad more, though her face remained annoyed. "Please watch where you are headed in the future," she spoke, her clear voice muttering with an irked tone about it. With that said, she stepped to the side lest the same person decide his hand needed some more friendly time with her back. She didn't know him well, but she'd seen the guy around a few times, though she didn't have any idea about him aside from his bright eyes. Despite her loneliness, Tamila was adamant not to make too many friends. Though she loved attention, envy was something she could not even imagine trying to bear with, and thus she remained ice-cold to anyone who tried to see past her superior-acting exterior. Thus she would remain, stubborn as stone, and brilliant as diamonds - magically, anyway. |

That wasn't the exact reaction he was expecting, but Augustine didn't expect her to be that annoyed by his clumsiness. He fought off the urge to call her a bitch under his breath. He kept shaking his hand. The strange burning feeling wouldn't fade. She was an elf, a magic user; that was all he knew. It had to have been the magic coursing through each of them that made it burn. Then again, he was just guessing. August stood there looking back and forth. It seemed everyone was breaking down into smaller groups for practice. He missed everything the teacher told them. He shrugged it off and went to his bag lying on the floor. The lack of sleep was catching up to him. He lifted the bag onto his shoulder and stumbled slightly. He had to go lie down. There was no way he would be able to stand up and fight. Quietly, and once no one was looking at him, he slipped out the door. The hall was still. His senses were on high alert. Everyone was in class somewhere. There was no way anyone else would be wandering. He turned to the left to go to the far staircase. A long walk around the school would either tire him out more, making sleep more appealing, or it could be the worst thing ever for him. It didn't matter to him either way. He made it to the stairs but when he looked up, his eyesight went blurry. He rubbed them with the forefinger and thumb of his right hand. August wasn't going to make it. He slunk down onto the second step. He put both elbows on their respective knees. He was concentrating on his breathing. He felt calm but why he couldn't make it up the stairs was another thing. Maybe it's the lack of food? he questioned. It didn't matter now. He had no music or food on him. He didn't even have the strength to get anywhere. |

I looked around closely, squinting my eyes before looking out the cold window, the rain still pelting the glass. The curtains hung at it's side, the nice soft bed felt comfortable under my sore body. I softly yawned and tried to forget my dream, suddenly hearing soft voices or a voice coming down the hall. It seemed slightly familiar, and as her eye looked through the crack in the door, I knew who it was. It was the girl I had fainted in front of. I made a 'tch' sound before wobbily getting out of the bed, and standing up on the floor straight. I looked to my left, running my fingers through my hair calmly before sighing and turning back to her. " Do you mind to stop staring Miss?..." I whispered politely, since I wasn't sure what else to say, since I wasn't really sure about human contact or conversations at all. The scar on my back ached and I turned my back to her and rubbed my hand on my back, where the slits in my black tee left my scar wide open, and rubbed it. It seemed to be fine. Shrugging, I looked back to her before a 'thump' made me walk past her and push away mumbling an 'excuse me and sorry' on the way. I walked to the stairs and saw the boy, sitting next to him and playing with his hair. I did not go here, so i had no special rules that I had to follow. If I had felt like it, I could of killed him right there. But, i wasn't ..that bloodthirsty. I picked him up effortlessly, hefting him atop my shoulder, hoping he was comfortable before walking back to the girl. " Tell me where his room is. " I announced softly and seriously, my purple eyes boring into her, searching every nook and cranny in her mind and soul. I made his face look at her so she could recognize him, before I stood up somewhat straight again. "Well?" |

"Tell me where his room is." Kassia blinked and stepped back, avoiding his eyes. His tone was soft, Kassia thought she wouldn't have heard it. Then again, she wasn't completely human, was she? "Well?" "This way," she said and lead the way up the stairs. "It's just down the hall from my room." She frowned, pushing open her door as she passed. Someone had been in there. Kassia brushed it off; she had more important things to worry about. "I think it's this one," She muttered and tapped on a door about three down from hers. She opened the door and stepped back, biting her lip while she waited. What would he do? She shook her head, looking around. She needed to talk to the headmaster about Declan; she'd been thinking about old vampire's coven, less than a block away from the Academy, and had come to the conclusion that someone was toying with them. "Um," she said, frowning. "I'm going back to my room now." She turned and took a few steps, suddenly spinning back towards him. "Bye." Then she went back to her room and half-closed the door behind her, taking in the mess her room was. She definitely had not left it like this before. She swore, then said out loud, "Someone has been in here." |

She led me up the stairs as I followed her, the weight almost nothing on my back. His shallow and troubled breathing echoed against my own, as it tried to keep up. The girl seemed troubled as she looked into her room, but I did not need to get troubled over something she had. I just needed to get out of here as soon as possible. My eyes bore and burned on the back of her head as I followed her, hoping and trusting that she was correct about the room. I didn't really need the guy on my back being chewed out by some other student. The girl frowned. My knowing eyes closed and opened again, as she started to walk away. "Thank you, student. Keep one eye open as you sleep. Sweet Nightmares. " It was an inside joke for me, but I actually wasn't kidding. That girl's mind was troubling, and I could see her troubled thoughts, which troubled mine. Why would a vampire's coven be so close to the Academy? Are they mocking them? Are they messing with them? I entered the room of the boy on my back and set him upon his? bed watching over him silently. I put my hand on his forehead, it was slightly cold, and pulled the blankets on top of him. " Sleep well. " I whispered in hi sear, before opening the window and jumping out, landing on the ground like a cat on my two feet. I looked to the Academy, wondering if I should stay longer, when I started to feel bad again and fell to my knee. It must have been the affect of fainting, my body couldn't take it yet. But I couldn't stay here ether.... I sighed and layed on top of a tree, hoping I could leave soon. |

August could feel the movement. He was unsure of how he was actually moving. His senses were dulled. He couldn't smell anything. Whatever was moving him didn't send anything through him. He couldn't reach out and ask anything else either. He tried to move his mouth but his face was squished and his muscles wouldn't fight the pressure. As far as he could tell, nothing earthy and plant like was around for his to discuss such matters with. The movement stopped from time to time. Voices were speaking above and near him. They were asking about his room. He could have told this man, he assumed since the voice was deeper, where it was. The movement continued until he heard the door. He felt his bed under him. August was able to roll over and see the man's back before he jumped out the window. Unfortunately, the window was open now. He reached an arm over to his desk. His fingers brushed against a box. He moved the box toward him and dumped out the contents. He grabbed onto a granola bar. He somehow managed to open it and shove most of it down his throat. It was the only way the window was going to get shut. |
| You don't only belong to yourself, you know. I doubt there is a single person in this world that belongs only to himself. When someone makes a connection there is always something shared. And so people will never be completely free. It's that which brings out fun, and sadness and love. | |
