A brief smile crinkled her eyes, and she shook her head a little to clear her eyes of the long hair she was beginning to regret making. If only she had a hair band... "If only," she chuckled in response to his question, "It'd sure as hell be easier." Despite her dislike for her character's inability to fight and grind alone without mana-replenishing potions, she knew that Kaidi's abilities were extremely useful for groups - and as Ianna intended to keep her a pure Priest, she was perfectly suited for keeping raid parties alive. The ringing of a phone alerted the player that something was going on outside the virtual world, and she looked to the side distractedly. "I'ma have to go for a minute - the phone's ringing." With that, she logged off carefully and set aside the goggles. Then she scampered towards the phone, falling off the bed in the process. "Uh, hello?" She blinked, and almost tripped over her feet. "Oh, uh, hi..." If the caller had been in front of her, she'd doubtless be fiddling with her hair. "Yeah, it's Ianna..." Ten minutes' worth of a conversation that should have only taken three minutes left the girl buzzing. Oh - she needed to get back online! Did she have any more suppressants? Or sleeping pills? Ah, bugger, clean out! Why didn't she go to the pharmacist before she came home? The game'd have to wait, she supposed. |

The diminutive archer watched her log, and shrugged. He shifted himself a moment and started opening up windows as he walked. He was sure there would be SOMEONE willing to party with him. And true enough, everywhere from the lfg channels to the forums were filled with talk of the hunt. Towns were a bustle with people planning and stocking up, and any store that sold any of the items soon ran out of them. The server had certainly come alive due to the event. It would seem that the world was going to be quite active for the next three weeks. |

Grabbing her purse, her fingertips scrabbling to check for the money inside, Ianna stepped into her nearest shoes, grabbed a coat and scarf, and ran for it. Though her movements were clumsy due to the time she'd spent in character, she still managed the stairs, her hastily-closed door leering down from the stairwell. She glanced up, saw that it was locked, and continued her way down. Oh, why was she so dreadfully addicted to this game? It would be safer for her to leave and never return to it - well, it would be safer for her coursework, anyway. Whether it would be safer for her had yet to be discovered, but she was sure she'd be fine. It was cold and dark outside, and the gloomy fog was pressing in from every angle. It was oppressive, but she had to level up. Fifteen minutes' worth of scurrying through deserted back streets, too paranoid to take a cab and too afraid of the drunks to take the main roads, brought her to the nearest pharmacist she knew of. It took her a further ten minutes to convince the cashier that she wasn't going to kill herself, and that she needed them for a beta version of a game, and then she scampered off. Biting her lip while she darted through the crowds, Ianna began to regret her application for the game. Wait a minute - what was she saying? She couldn't possibly regret it! A little out of breath, Ianna opened the door to her apartment. Back to the game. The pill went down, the headset on, and she was in. Digitalising into the world she'd become quite fond of, if a little exasperated by, she glanced around. |

in the time it took her to return to the game, the world within it had progressed twice as far in the time frame. She came to the sun now on the decline within the world and LZ was still a buz, on the shout boards and the forums, it was still all being talked about. Even in the world itself, she could spot more people about than ever before. There were people spotted here and there digging around for herbs, chasing after creatures, and large parties going off into the distance. Not too many of them were close to her, but even at that distance, there were more people than usually were around at once. Apparently news had spread fast, and gamers were logging on quickly to try and pick up on their three weeks of run time. (sorry, I know the post is shit, but it's mainly going to be narrative till you get into interaction. >>) Edited by Jester, March 5, 2011, 7:18 pm.

Expecting nothing more than the peaceful scene she'd grown to expect over the first couple of days playing, when Ianna digitalised, she was taken aback by the sheer number of players that had suddenly appeared, seemingly out of nowhere, and her eyes widened when she realised they were all hunting for the herbs and items that featured on the scavenger's list. Oh - where should she begin? Do some grinding to level up and increase her number of healing spells? Or join a party and level up a little slower? Or perhaps she should finish off her quests before she began it all? Looking around, she realised that the darkness was threatening, and she hardly wanted a repeat of last night. If she collected those roots now, the chances of her being dragged under by that bizarre creature must be much lower. Plus, she did like a nice clean quest log. With that in mind, she moved back towards the blue star lilies, hoping that they yielded the ingredients quickly. |

The water lilies that she had been aimed towards the night prior were not there at present. However there seemed to be fewer gutterfish in the river at the moment. This probably had a great deal to do with the large number of players going around the world now. (sorry...I had a brain fart but I didn't want to wait any longer on this post. NOW FOR SOME FILLIER FROM THE DMC!!!) Off outside the region, Robert inside his official testing mage, was getting quite annoyed at all the clatter going on all over the forum. It was bad enough that he wasn't able to get to work on hunting down things with his more powerful character, but he also couldn't causally surf forums anymore without being bombarded with it. He huffed and sat himself down on the corpse of the Dire Bear he had just finished killing. He sighed and rubbed his face and brought up his clock and then a small file that held his work hours. Fuck it, he was over logged already so he sigh sighed, and logged off, the digital world leaving as he brought himself back to reality. He huffed his helmet off as he tried to focus on moving his body. He stood up and said "I'm done for the day, I'm already overlogged for my hours so I'm'a just head home" He said to the room monitor and headed over to gather his things. He'd make his report at home. Either way, he gathered his things, and headed out the door, and out the building, making his way back towards his home. Edited by Jester, March 18, 2011, 2:35 pm.

(Sorry for the wait - a quick break in revision means some quality RP time )Ianna turned Kaidi around, making her survey the surrounding area carefully. Strange. Where had the lilies gotten to? A frown slowly furrowed her brow, and she continued to scour the area for the flora she'd been sent to find. Maybe somebody else had already nabbed the ingredients and thus the quest reward - but she still wanted the money and the experience, not to mention a nice clear quest log, so she approached the bank. Now she was closer to the water, she could make out the faint lurking shapes of gutterfish - not as many as she'd expected, though, but that was likely to be down to the sheer number of players online. It was certainly a relief; though Ianna wanted to level Kaidi up quickly, she was not particularly fond of combat - well, combat with a priest. With a warrior, it'd probably be much more fun, but she'd chosen a priest. Not only because of the roleplaying connotations - chastity, purity, goodness and all that - but also because, when it came to the dungeons, people were going to want a skilled healer and res in their teams. Not only would a holy priest be fun to roleplay as, but she'd also be in demand. Perfect, in her opinion - she'd have her pick of the priest gear that dropped. Meandering down the river, she kept a close eye on the water's edge, not wanting to wade in too far for fear of encountering that evil creature that had caught her last night. Not only was her mind buzzing with the excitement that this world gave her, but also from her mysterious caller, and she began to lose track of herself, before feeling a particularly wet sensation creeping up between her toes. "Oops," she spoke aloud, and stepped backwards out of the mud. Hmm. |

While Kaidi managed to kill one of the gutterfish, the other two managed to slip away before she could target and kill them, too. One was injured, but would surely regain its health before she chased it down. Wanting desperately to level up but finding her source of EXP lacking, she left the gutterfish she'd killed in favour of hunting down more. Now trekking through the deep, murky water, Ianna turned Kaidi around to survey her surroundings. Perhaps a blue-star water lily would spawn? She was adamant that she'd get all the roots by the end of this session. |

(alright, time for some deus ex machina for the sake of speed. After all, she's a faithful priest, she spends her time in modest worship of the programmers, as such she shall be rewarded!) Wading through in the silt and muck of the river bed the priest, newly triumphant over small little gutter fish, yet having been thwarted by an others' speedy escape, she spotted in the waning light of the rapidly approaching dark of night, the dull outline of a group of plants in the water up ahead. (and among close inspection which I'm sure will come to save time, among several other plats she will find three blue start water lilies.) The dark of night was soon approaching though, and the world was slowly starting to transform into the nocturnal world of LZ. The lighting bugs had started to spark to life and move about, seeking their own kind to gather into small clusters and the creatures who were day active were starting to return to their lairs, dens, or where ever they might sleep, even if that is laying the the fields. |

Credits roll. Music plays. Another total completion and perfect score. Not too bad for a JPRG, but still lacking in what real RPG's could accomplish. Too much streamlining and not enough open gameplay. You were just playing a story, not interacting with a world. Chalk this up as a failed experience. Another completion, another can of Code Red. Steady pizza boxes. Look through the litter on the floor for that Beta. There it is. Legenden Zeit. Hailed by almost all the reviewers as the new standard for games. It did live up to its hype. Had to get finished with the other games first before this could really be conquered, but now with everything else at full completion, all the time could be devoted to this baby. A little Code Red to help wash down the pill, and onto the bed we go. Headset on, breathing calm. No music, no lights, no other distractions. Goodbye fantasy, hello reality. The loading screen, if you could call it that, encapsulated him like a black room, there but not as well. "7l7azeq$gwptdx12." Jeremy was a firm believer in strong passwords. He spoke the sequence aloud, having memorized it like all of his others. Security was important, and no one was going to be stealing his life easily. That he made sure of. Gernot Volker opened his eyes. He could tell it was getting upon nighttime before they had flickered open. The air was saturated with the waning sun's light, the fleeting embers of day letting off to dance a farewell to welcome night's colder reign. He stretched his neck, letting the stiff muscles work the head around so that he could glimpse the tide of evening setting in as well. Whiterock was a beautiful at this time. On the cusp of dusk, bathed in the final glow of the land, the colors of the resting sun painted upon the castle's white hewn sides. Gernot tried to remember what it was that last he had been doing, and he recalled the scavenger hunt. As a few lightning bugs flickered about nearby he pulled up his inventory to see about his status on collection. Jeremy momentarily lost his grip on his character. This was the first time in all his game playing where he had not been absolutely on top of completing a task the moment it was presented. The revelation that it could have slipped his mind was knocking him for a whirl. Nothing's wrong, it's fine. Just got too absorbed in observing. Time to gather now.[/color] Gernot shook his head, as if trying to clear water from his ears. An unpleasant thought had interrupted his observation of the night's onset, but his sanity was restored. "Let us start then," he announced to the surrounding town. Silly though this may have seemed to normal people, Gernot was no man of normal mettle. He was determined to gain favor and fortune in the land, and this task would fall before his dedication to completing it. Gernot set off down the main road, contemplating how best he should go about enriching his collection and figuring out where each item could be gained. Edited by Juicesir, May 29, 2011, 9:49 am.

The city of whiterock was also in the process of it's transition from day to night. Shops were starting to close, while a few were actually starting to open. The lamps were being light, and the night guard were coming onto post similar posts. One on just about every other street corner, and several simply patrolling the streets and alleyways. The night guard looked much the same as the day guard, but they were usually a far more harsh group of NPC's, having less guile and often times being less understanding of mistakes than their day time counterparts. The guards were not things different about the nocturnally active NPC's in the city. The general populous of the city changed, many of the NPC's, quest givers included, went to sleep in their homes (and some without went to sleep in an inn or in alley ways.) while other NPC's, some of which were quest givers only found at night, became active once again. Among the various newcomers in activity were some undesirables. More fights with NPC's tended to happen at night, as well as more thefts. Yes indeed, there were NPC Thieves that would steel from you, though in general all of these less desirable activities were rare in Whiterock, as it was not only the main city in the region, but also the starting point for the newer players in the game. Taverns were mostly still open in the city, as were some rare night shops. (one might think maybe two or three shops in the entire city) but for the most part, the city did indeed sleep. The shroud of night began to fall about the mantle of the earth, and Gernot decided to do what any adventurer who needed to think and get information would do: go to a tavern. Gernot strode through the streets until he came upon a tavern which was still brimming with customers. He set down the streets, the white cobblestone passing swiftly below his long strides. Gernot was in no way a small man. Broad chested and built like an ox, he had every confidence in his physical appearance. Sure, he'd been scratched up a bit through his adventures, and he wasn't the most attractive man, but there was a certain ruggedness that he felt most people could appreciate. And if it wasn't his ruggedness they could appreciate, then certainly it could be his bulk. He entered the tavern, and as he had guessed, it was still filled with the night life and activity of the citizenry. People were laughing and sitting about, talks and gambles were being thrown to the crowd, and Gernot could make out a tune amongst all the clatter of voices and tankards. He decided to seat himself at the bar. "Give me something strong." Once his drink had come to him, he decided to question the barkeep a bit. "Do you know of any shops in Whiterock which sell unusual supplies? Or perhaps do you know of any beasts that have been about terrorizing the countryside? There's a coin in it for you if I find your information to be to my liking." Gernot's voice was always a growl, always the tone of gravel. His accent was of the low folk, the commoners, but he always kept his tone and speech high. His voice now was like gently rolling rocks skipping under a cart's tires, and he tried to be a jovial with his questioning as possible. |

The barman at the tavern cocked and eyebrow at the man and just smirked. He was a stout and round faced man, with an easy smile and dark brown curls about his head. He was clad in a slightly off manila color and his light brown eyes just glanced over the patrons figure for a moment before shrugging. "This is whiterock, we don't have much in terms of 'beasts' terrorizing the region, after all, this is a starting region. If you're wanting information on beasts and such, you're better off talking to Aiken over there." he said motioning to the side of the tavern where a group of men and women sat around talking and laughing and drinking. Even though the drinks were not physically real, the game still stimulated endorphin production of the 'drinkers' so it still felt nice to drink. and to pick out the particular one whom the barkeep was referring to didn't seem possible seeing as they were all about chatting and laughing and this game had no little names planted above people's heads. "Though if you're wanting odd spell shops, you'd best head down to bazda's shop down off of 3ed market street. He tends to have some odd shambles and odds and ends. He's a Kine, but he's manages to keep the place orderly. Though I don't know if he's open at night." The barkeep added.

"Many thanks." Gernot tipped the barman, for it was good information which had been garnered, exactly what he had needed for finding some of these scavenger items. He turned from the bar itself to the group he had motioned to when referring to the man called Aiken. He thumped over to the table. The patrons were gathered about it, all enjoying their nightly brews. Gernot almost felt wrong for having to interrupt their enjoyments, but he had things to accomplish. Stepping as lightly towards the table as he could and waiting there for a pause in the conversation he eventually set forth with his inquiry. "I am looking for the one called Aiken. I am in need of some help." Edited by Juicesir, June 6, 2011, 7:05 pm.

The conglomeration of persons at the table cheered at the newcomer's comment, many of them jabbering off. Some of which were in a thick brogue and pointing and laughing. Talks of "oh yeah, there yeh are yeh big nit, ye've got ano'er bleed'n lamb ta tend" And such. Everyone continued their laughter till a man in worn and slightly dented heavy metal plate armor and short brown hair looked to Gernot and raised his hand, flagon still gripped up. "I'm Aiken Boyo, what can I do fer yeh?" He asked with a light hearten smile. He seemed to be of around fit build, and somewhat taller than the others sat around the table. |

The table seemed to be in good spirits, and Gernot felt at ease. He took to an empty seat and lowered his massive bulk into it. "I have been sent on a quest to retrieve many different items, some from beasts, and some from the earth, and I was wondering if you could provide any clues as to where I might be able to find some of them." Gernot pulled out the list of items and passed it to the man. "Might you be able to help?" Gernot deeply hoped that this jovial man would be able to assist him. If not, he would need a different approach for garnering the necessary items. |

There was a big of laughter at the phrasing and such of the proposition, though it was indistinguishable from the general rabble of the table and the tavern. Aiken just grinned and nodded. "aye, ye're talk'n about the scavenger event right?" He inquired. "I've got the same list. Looks ta be a doozie don't it?" He said with a grin. For a moment he looked like a child hardly unable to resist from starting on a puzzle. "the list is pretty wide boyo, yeh can't just say a tip on everything." He said turning and reaching into his pack. Over into the side of the tavern someone started playing a fiddle, adding to the various sounds of the room. The man pulled out a roll of parchment and opened it up on the table. He then looked over at the person sat next to him. They looked to be an athletic build, having blown leathers. Aiken lifted his foot and booted the man in the side of his thigh, though it wasn't hard enough to knock him out of the chair, but enough to spill the drink he was trying to take a swallow of which brought about a large laughter from most at the table. "Well go on! Make room for the man! 'e's gota see what's go'n on!" he said. The man just scoffed and stood up out of his chair, and walked around the table to find himself another seat. Aiken then smacked the table where the person once was. "come on and 'ave a seat o'er 'ere, I'll show they the rout of things!" He said with a boisterous laugh. |

Gernot laughed a little at the man's colloquialisms, but it joyed him to see someone so loose with the world. Such men and women were the people who brought true joy to the workings of daily toils. He sat down in the now recently vacated chair and pulled close to Aiken, looking over his copy of the list. |

Aikens list was not as clean and tidy as Gernots. Rather to the contrary it had scribbles here and there all over the place and on one side several of the items were crossed out, however he didn't pay attention to the proper side of the parchment, but rather flipped it over to the back, where using an quill or pin, he had scribbled down all of the times again, this time in groups. They comprised on two groups. One of which was full of notes and little things put beside them, while the others, well they were just there at the bottom with a unassuming question-mark beside them. The motioned to the first group on the paper. "now these 'ere, them yeh can find in Ereumana here. I know cause I've seen em." He said. "Now some o em ye've got ta find at certain places, an' some o em ye'll likely 'ave a go better at night or day." He said, and sure enough he had marked them down on next to locations and anything special. "I've got a few clues as ta them outside o Ereumana, but nothing concrete yet." he pointed out. Thief of Hearts
|
It had been the perfect day, last night all three of his fighters had managed to win their fights and while two of them were simply on the amateur circuit those wins still meant a lot to Devin. He had spent the night out drinking with his coaching partner Jack celebrating the victories with several alcoholic drinks. After a peaceful night of rest Devin had awoken and headed to the gym to visit with the fighters and check for any damage that may have lasted. While the amateur league fighters were made to wear head gear the body shots they took were still rather devastating and as such one of the fighters had managed to crack a rib. "Go to the doctor and have them take care of that, you won't be able to fight for awhile but if I sent you into another match like that it'd just be askin' for trouble," he had told the fighter. As he checked out his other fighters the only problems he found was a bit of facial swelling and a couple of bruises nothing an average boxer wasn't use to. Satisfied with the condition the fighters were in Devin took his leave letting his assistant Jack take care of training the other fighters that day. Returning home Devin prepared a small lunch and ate quickly before finding his computer and the headset he was still getting use to. Beside the computer screen were pills that Devin remember that he had when playing the game so that the experience would be that much better. Swallowing the pill and following it up with a sip of water, Devin placed the headset on and speaking aloud, 'StrongFist!887,' he immersed himself in the world of LZ once again. Opening his eyes to the change in scenery Sevett was in the city of Klein, a city in the north that was built alongside the river that traversed the area he was currently exploring. Before Sevett could start exploring the city a large screen appeared before him explaining a server-wide challenge to gather as many items as possible before the deadline. From the list the only thing that Sevett could recognize were some of the lower-level monsters he had read about but things like Unicorn Fur and Vampire Ash were probably far out of his league as far as levels went. Closing out the screen a piece of paper appeared with the same message and list before disappearing into his inventory. As Sevett adjusted to the darkness around him the lights of the city cast great shadows on the buildings and over Sevett's body. 'Wonderful, simply wonderful,' he thought clenching and relaxing his fists. It had been several years since Devin had played a video game but if he had to choose one it would be LZ every time, here he was able to fight with his fists and completely immerse himself in the world as if he were actually living there. Pulling himself together again Sevett opened a menu to check on his progress toward the next level. It appeared that he was still far from his goal but being in a city like this he was sure to find a quest of some kind that would help raise his level. Closing the menu Sevett began to traverse the city until he stumbled upon an NPC who seemed to be in need of help. Holding up a hand of greeting Sevett asked, "Hello, is there anything I can help you with today?" Edited by Vanity&Ecstasy, June 15, 2011, 3:44 am.

The particular NPC which he came across was a human woman who was clad in a red skirt with a cream colored blouse, neither were in perfect condition, but neither were they rags. The womans brown hair was pulled back into a partial tail, with much of the hair yet out and hung in slight gathered bunches about her shoulders and back. She was at that moment bringing a rather sizable sack of something down the street, pulled up over her shoulder. When addressed she turned and looked at the Character and cocked an eyebrow at him. She had by no means posted a quest up, but sense someone was offering she wasn't about to turn it down. "Sure, here, carry this up ta the shop for me." She commented unslinging the sack form her shoulder and held it in front of her, though close enough that it didn't strain her arms. The sack was a light brown color, and seemed to be made of a burlap like material from the look of it. |

The NPC Sevett had come across, while not weak in slightest seemed like she could use some help even if there were no for of reward involved. As she offered the sack Sevett took it in his hands and shouldered the sack. It was somewhat heavy but only about as heavy as a broken sandbag that had been emptied of about half the sandbags. Following the NPC Sevett admired the fact that she looked so life-like and her rough appearance gave her a much more homely feel compared to a game where every NPC was perfect and dressed like royalty. As they continued the short trip to the shop Sevett waited for the NPC to point out where she might like the sack before following her instructions. "My name is Sevett by the way, is there anything else I might be able to help you with," he offered wondering if helping the NPC would result in experience or possibly a reward item that was on the list he received. |

The woman cocked an eyebrow at him after she had had him plant the sack down on the ground over to the side. "what in the blime are you thinking I'll have for you to do this time of night?" she asked. It was quite late after all, going on midnight in the game. Time passing about twice as fast as they were on a double time passage by the real world's standards. "Go on and keep yerself busy or find something else to do if you must.:" she said walking over to the side and pulling out a loaf of bread from a cuby and tossing it to him. "Here, this didn't sell today, and it'll be stale if I keep it" She said. This was his reward for the assistance one could say, though it wasn't official. The NPC's weren't always the most sociable, nor the most direct. [Item information: Wheat Bread: a loaf of bread made form wheat, the food recovers SP, and can be cut to determine how much SP to be recovered.] |

What she was saying did make sense there probably wasn't much to do at night with random NPC's but there was at least one other place Sevett knew where to go. Catching the loaf of bread tossed his way Sevett was at least somewhat glad he got a reward it was about what he had expected since all he had done was carry a sack. "Thank you for the bread," he said politely before giving her a wave of farewell and returning to the street. The bread he had been given was placed in his inventory and Sevett was on his way toward the request board to try and find a more suitable job. It was a short walk to the board filled with only few encounters with people. Looking over the board Zaine wasn't exactly sure which to take but he took the first one he had come across and assumed it would turn out okay. |
